The 4 Great Families, denizens of the Land of Kiokuhai, could not be tamed or contracted. Their power was too immense, and their position as guardians over the balance too important to allow themselves to be shepherded into the service of men. While conflict nearly destroyed the fragile creatures of the human realm, they could only sit by and observe as their brethren, the other great beasts called to defend or attack for the lowly mortal creatures who intruded into their lands, became tools for use in tragedies that threatened to unravel all of creation. Ironically enough, the four great families were revered as gods for their unwillingness to participate, seen as solemn watchers of the matters of the living, and omens of death whenever they left Kokuhai long enough to roam the burning earth.
But when the cries of the dying grew to be too much, when the balance itself was threatened by the innumerable loss of life, the 4 Great Families had no choice but to intervene. They chose four humans, four mortals pure of heart and intent to embody their essence, and agreed to a contract that would allow them to be summoned to the earth, champions of peace and life. They learned to combine their essence with their champions, becoming stronger together than they ever had been alone. When these champions fought together, no evil, regardless of its power, could withstand their might and focus, and these four were hailed as heroes who saved a doomed planet from annihilation.
And then, Kōryū came. Kōryū the God Eater. Kōryū, the Golden Dragon of the Center.
Three of the four chosen humans were killed almost immediately after Kōryū arrived on earth, his creation a mystery, his purpose only to upset the fragile balance the Great Families formed. The other summons could not withstand his power, which seemed to be drawn from the Void of death itself. He wreaked havoc across all worlds, and it was not long before the Seiryuu, Byakko, and Genbu were destroyed along with their champions.
But the Suzaku persisted. They represented the undying flames of the phoenix, and were reborn continuously, combating the darkness that was Kōryū at every opportunity. Hundreds of years passed with no end to the war in sight, and the resources of the last remaining Great Family were stretched thin over battlefields that spanned entire continents. When it was time for the final battle, the family made a decision that saved their lives, but also left their youngest member, Nán Fāng Zhū Què, miserably alone.
They became one. They resurrected their immense power within their youngest kin, and used the last of their fading strength to strike a blow to Kōryū that he could not recover from, spreading his essence out among all that remained. Their remaining human champion would carry the legacy of their pact for all time, and Nán Fāng Zhū Què returned to Kiokuhai, burdened by the disappearance of all she had known.
Time passed. Eventually, she set out to find new champions, those who would forsake any previous contract and commit themselves to joining her in repairing and maintaining the balance.

The story continues. There are many tales left to tell...
She is kind, but isolated in her nobility, and capable of immense anger when that which she values is threatened. Her mind is a combination of features from the family members she has lost, and is a complex weaving of bravery, determination, intelligence, conceit, and sadness. She cares not for power, for she has more than most will ever dream, but respects inner strength, and views the willingness to sacrifice oneself in order to protect ones ideals the highest mark of honor in those she encounters.
She is wary of human beings, already accustomed to the treachery and hatred that consumes their race, but is also intrigued by the infrequent possession of true moral integrity they are sometimes able to display. She is not opposed to the act of killing, but views such deeds more as a sacred task done only when there is little other option, and less as a solution to any problem that might effect her. In response to those who've gained the privilege of contracting her aid, she gains a certain motherly affection, though her youth also contributes to a playful side reserved only for those she trusts a great deal.
Her general manner can be seen as haughty, and her inexperience with human life and culture lead her to constantly question things which she finds absurd or unnecessary. It can come across as condescending to those unused to her, but she is an understanding companion in matters that involve emotion and the heart. She has developed a fascination with the concept of 'match-making', and often believes that her advice regarding 'human mating rituals' to be top-notch, though she may suggest love interests for her partners that seem ridiculous or impossible, a reflection of her inexperience with such matters. Her style of speech is perceptive and analytical, and if not regarded as 'regal' in nature, otherwise comes across as a bit high-minded.[/ul]

Description: Ninpou - Hitei Mushou is Ninjutsu technique universally known by shinobi across the globe. After forming the needed handseal, the user will emit a flying mist of small nails from their mouth, created entirely of the user's chakra. These small nails can travel towards their opponent at quite a distance, moving at impressive speeds and retain even more impressive accuracy!

Description: Meisai Gakure no Jutsu is an advanced ninjutsu technique created for stealth purposes. After forming the needed handseals, the shinobi will summon a large amount of visually altering chakra, strong enough to coat their bodies and take effect within moments of being summoned. With this, the user can grant themselves near invisibility, which can be sustained even when motion or minimal contact occurs. Only chakra sensing methods have been shown to pierce the veil of chakra and see the hidden ninja.

Shinranbanshou Douka no Jutsu (Assimilate All Creation Technique)

Description: Shinranbanshou Douka no Jutsu is a ninjutsu technique that allows the ninja to use their surroundings as a tool for battles. With this technique, the user will form the needed hand seal and then touch a nearby tangible object to take on its properties. For example, if they touched nearby stone, their body will become hard as a rock in whatever desired location. This technique also appears to give the user the ability to break their body down into smaller pieces of whatever element they touch and reform himself at will, even after having been blown to bits.

Description: As its name implies, the Mist Waltz is just that – a vicious mist expelled by the user through their mouth at high speeds, which, when in contact with any form of flame, will create a napalm like explosion, enhancing the fire and even creating disastrous fires which quickly spread and burn. The user must be careful however, as any Fuuton jutsu of equal or greater rank could easily blow back the mist and turn the effects on the user.

Goukakyuu no Jutsu (Great Fireball Technique)

Special: Produces an intense stream of fire that can move as far as one's 'Enkou Shinka' rank, halved. Because the flames are slightly more intense than other Katon jutsu, each time this is retrained, the user can stack 'C' ranked burning damage. However, for every fourth retraining, chakra consumption will go up by one. Can be trained a maximum of 8 times. Stream can last up to a whole turn, but when using this jutsu, the user must be standing still.
Description: Goukakyuu no Jutsu is a fundamental Katon ninjutsu technique which allows the user to freely control fire itself as it leaves their body. The ninja does the necessary hand seals, draws chakra from their mouth into their chest and them immediately exhales it. During this point, they then blow a stream of fire which erupts into a large sphere of flames. To better manage the flames the ninja will bring their hand to their mouth to control it.

Gouryuuka no Jutsu (Great Dragon Fire Technique)

Special: Distance that the dragon heads can travel depends on the user's highest 'Enkou Shinka' rank. Dragon heads measure 20% of one's 'Enkou Shinka' distance. Up to 1 dragon head can be fired, plus one more each time retrained. However, after every third retraining, chakra consumption shall go up by one. Upon contact, dragon heads explode in a napalm like nature, spreading the flames all around in a radius equal to the size of its head; each explosion contains bonus burning damage equivalent to the stacked 'Great Fireball' retraining (up to a maximum of 'S' rank damage!). As with 'Great Fireball', when using this jutsu, the user must be standing still in order to control the powerful blasts of fire.
Description: An evolution of the Great Fireball, the user is now able to take the flames expelled and morph them into fast moving projectiles. Fierce and potent, this Katon ninjutsu allows the user to expel fireballs in the form of a dragon’s head after forming the needed hand seals. Shot from the mouth, these powerful fireballs can punch through concrete and wood with ease, and leaves a terrible fiery explosion in its wake.

Finally, each time retrained, an additional 'C' ranked amount of damage is added on as a bonus to the explosion. However, after every 4th training, chakra consumption will go up by one. Can be learned a maximum of 8 times.
Description: Although basic, the fireball technique is nonetheless efficient and deadly. After forming the necessary handseals, the shinobi will expel a jet stream of fire from their mouth, which quickly forms into a large fireball. The user can fire this ball off in any direction they wish, resulting in a small explosion upon impact.

Description: An upgrade to the 'Endan' technique, this allows the user to expel an even greater stream of fire now that they are more adept at controlling their Katon chakra. With the stream of fire, they can quickly shoot off several larger fireballs in quick succession, resulting in an overwhelming set of blasts all carrying an explosive fate.

Description: After forming the needed handseals, the user will expel an ash cloud from his mouth, tinted a dark stoic gray. This large cloud will quickly begin to envelope the area in which a foe stands and when the user clicks their teeth, the cloud will ignite in an violent, fiery napalm-like explosion.

Special: Distance at which the stream can travel and height of flame rings depends on the user's highest 'Enkou Shika' rank, halved. Up to 1 stream can be produced at any given time, resulting in one imprisoned target; each time retrained however, one extra stream is gained, and thus, one extra potential target. However, after every second retraining, chakra consumption goes up by one.
Description: An excellent trapping jutsu, this allows the Katon user to essentially generate rings of fire around their opponent. After a few brief handseals, the user sends a stream of fire across the ground moving at high speeds, aiming to strike their target. However, rather than burning on impact, the fire stream quickly splits in two so that it may surround the target in a circular manner. Once the two meet again on the other side, a wall of fire double that of the victim's size is erected all around (underground included), with heat and intensity of flame doubling. From there, the user may choose to either close the prison in on the victim, or keep it active for the sake of interrogation.

Special: Extends out at the same distance as 'Enkou Shika'. Those caught within the first half of the attack, starting at the user's extended arms and up to half the attack's potential range, will receive severe burns, teary-eyed vision, trouble breathing, and are knocked back a few feet. Those caught within the other half of the blast will receive substantial burns, teary-eyed vision, and trouble breathing.
Description: After forming the hand seals, the user will extend both arms forward with their palms facing outwards- charging those appendages with heat within a few mere seconds. With their target aimed, the user will then release a howling gust of extremely heated air from both their arms, shooting it forwards with such power it issues a low concussion into the air. The wave of heat sweeps over the area the user had pointed their arms towards, lighting all flammable objects (like paper) and reddening the skin of all those caught in its path with burns.

Description: After forming the hand seals, the user will emit a flashy, spherical orb of flames around their body, capable of substantially burning anyone or anything caught in its path. Though quick and short-lived, it has a notorious reputation as a life-saver when one is outnumbered and surrounded, even proving to ignite enemies and items caught in its path on certain occasions.

Kishou Hisuzaku no Jutsu (Art of the Rising Flame Phoenix)

Special: Creates a massive explosion upon impact, covering an area of up to ten meters in radius. After the explosion, the user can spend an additional High amount of chakra to recreate the phoenix at a third of its original size, which causes the second impact's explosion to be cut down to 10 meters but maintaining the deadly aspect of it. This process may only be repeated once per time the jutsu is cast.
Description: The user performs the handseals, gathering chakra while inhaling deeply. Then, with a powerful exhale, the user will release a stream of flame. Spatial manipulation rapidly shapes the flames into the form of a large phoenix with a wingspan of ten meters and a body length of four meters. Upon impact, the entirety of the phoenix will wrap itself up into a small ball, taking just under a half second to complete, before detonating and releasing a massive explosion, enveloping anyone, including the user, that is too close.

Special: Intensity of this flame is determined by rank of Enkou Shinka. Flames require a constant source of chakra to maintain burning. Because of the nature of this flame, it cannot actively be projected from the user.
Description: After growing more understanding of the nature of fire, the user is able to create a potent flame which uses their own chakra as a conduit for the flame, removing the flames need for any other fuel, allowing the flame to burn in areas that an ordinary flame could not, such as an oxygen deprived environment.

Senshu Enkou (Tyrant Flame)

Special: Range is equivalent to one's Enkou Shinka Rank halved. Requires at least one mastery in Katon. Cannot ignite the chakra contained naturally within one's body under typical circumstances. This flame is produced using the user's chakra and can survive for 1 Turn after being projected outwards unless it latches onto another chakra source. Physical flames last until extinguished.
Description: After learning to ignite one's own chakra, the Katon Master can learn to create a unique flame. By producing a violet spark, the user is able to generate the catalyst for a flame which burns and devours chakra. This flame does not deal physical damage, and cannot burn a physical object. Should the flame come into contact with(or spark within) a source of chakra, such as that which is present between a shinobi and an object he is focusing his chakra on(such as a shinobi using Doton to manipulate nearby rock) or any other chakra not contained entirely within the Tenketsu, it will begin to burn and devour that chakra: if this happens to a stream of chakra connecting a shinobi to an element he is attempting to manipulate via Ninjutsu, it can effectively nullify the jutsu, and follow the stream of chakra back to the shinobi. When this flame burns chakra, it does not create smoke, but instead, spawns a physical flame in its wake; this physical fire is very intense, and can quickly consume a shinobi should a trail of chakra lead the Tyrant Flame to him.

Description: Kokohi no Jutsu is a simple sight Genjutsu technique which changes the appearance of a nearby object. After forming a few seals, any object the user makes eye contact with will warp, twist, and look however it is the user wants to the untrained eye.

Multiple targets may see multiple things, and the wider sly mind effect, the more believable it will be to the victim.
Description: Kori Shinchuu no Jutsu is a simple yet effective Genjutsu technique which allows the user to play a nasty visual truck on their opponents, causing them to travel around an area lost, in circles. If the ninja is unable to detect the illusion very quickly, they can become exhausted mentally and physically when they are unable to reach their desired target by traveling along the same path over and over. Most effective in enclosed areas such as forests or jungle.

Description: Jubaku Satsu is a more advanced Genjutsu technique utilized by illusion experts. After forming the needed hand seals, the caster will suddenly disappear and approach their target. Once near, a tree will grow at their feet and its branches will bind them so they can no longer move. Once the illusion makes them believe they are captured, the user will appear from within the very tree itself, allowing them an opening to attack their target effectively. The user may also attack from a distance if they choose but the distance must be within their Kouryoku range.

Description: Jigoku Gouka no Jutsu is a visual genjutsu technique that causes the user's target to see a vision of fire. After forming the needed handseals, a huge ball of fire will descend from the sky to envelope the user's chosen target. The victims of the genjutsu will believe they are being engulfed by a torrent of fire and will most likely feel compelled to flee their location for safety, in fear of their lives.

Description: If the user comes under attack, they can use this technique to cover their escape. After forming the needed hand seals, their body will disperse into a "shower" of whatever they have an affinity for. This shower will confuse and distract their opponent while they escapes or hide.

With this technique this shower will fly around and consume their targets, "dissolving" their bodies away. In reality, they're simply paralyzed and left at the mercy of the illusionist.

Description: Once inside the black space, the target will see grotesque figures said to be tortured criminals, the previous victims of the technique. These grotesqueries will reach out and grab a hold of the target. They will then be thrown into a void (the ground below them) to the mercy of a spectral demon. The horrifying oni can even extend from the targets own body to attack them. The technique aims to transfix the victim with fear while they kill/apprehend the target.

Description: One of the most advanced visual Genjutsu techniques, Nehan Shouja no Jutsu is a Genjutsu technique that allows the caster to place a large body of people into a unconscious state. Although anyone can avoid the spell by forming and using the Kai technique, using this while undetected ensures a large success rate, as its unexpected nature is what catches most victims off guard.

- In keeping with the 'celestial order' the family wishes to maintain, no more than 4 shinobi can have a contract with this 'family' at any given time.
- This summons family has no "Sage", as Nán Fāng Zhū Què is the sole surviving member. No additional family members may ever be created.
