Special: The range of Tsukegami no Kage is double the range of the natural Kage Mane, making it able to extend a hundred meters, but, the user is incapable of doing anything else that is chakra related while this jutsu is activated. Once the target would exceed the fifty meters of the natural Kage Mane distance, the "thread" of Kage Mane that it creates will get thinner and thinner as target gets further away, making it harder for the user to keep a grip upon the technique.
Description: Tsukegami no Kage works by using the Kage Mane, though, not the average one. It thins down the Kage Mane until it becomes super thin, so much that it can't be seen by the normal naked eye, only one's with Doujutsu. The width of the Kage Mane all comes together to stretch out the length of the technique so that it can go further beyond the natural distance that the Kage Mane is able to travel. It is used as a tracker for the Nara, encase someone has gotten out of their grasp of the Kage Mane, and used this as a last minute ditch effort to at least keep track of them. While this technique is active, the user cannot use any other Kage Mane related techniques. The user can keep the hold upon the target until they run out of chakra or deactivate the technique, or if the target notices it somehow, they can break free with a large surge of chakra, like Gates, or ect.

This jutsu makes no sense. How exactly are the Nara able to track their shadow? Does it eminate chakra that the Nara can sense?

This is going to require a lot more fleshing out to explain how exactly the Nara can track their shadow once it joins the target's.

I actually like this jutsu, I just don't see it working at all in it's current state. As Shinryu said, you have no way of actually "tracking" the shadow. This is merely a suggestion, take it how you please.

My suggestion is that this is a technique that you activate once, and it stays active, draining chakra until you run out or deactivate it. Basically, a extremely thin, thread-like portion of your shadow connects with the target's, so thin that you cannot see it unless you have Doujutsu. After connecting, it no longer requires handseals, and is passive, but still drains chakra. You cannot use this technique to control the opponent at all. The aftereffect of connecting and tracking the opponent is simple. You know how if you pull a thread from a piece of clothing the area of the pulled thread bulges out, following the thread? this is exactly what your shadow will do, an "arrow" like bulge pointing you in the direction of the tagged person.

If you did it this way, the technique would need a chakra consumption per turn, as well as a maximum length the thread can travel. I'm sure the thread will reasonably travel further than Kagemane normally allows due to it's extremely small width, but the exact distance is for you to decide.

Can you list a definite length for it? Like between 3x to 5x the users total Kage-mane range? Since the technique can't be used for anything but tracking, I think 5x is fair, maybe more, depending on what others think. I just want something definite, so that people can't metagame chasing someone across a whole continent.
