THE GREAT ESCAPE

DESCRIPTION: Like any other village, Kusagakure has problems re-homing abandoned pets – but it’s not only that factor which proves a problem to the Kusagakure Animal Rescue Shelter, but instead the fact that it’s all too common that some more energetic pets manage to escape. This triggers a series of break-outs, allowing even the most timid of cats or dogs to escape behind them! Shinobi, having excellent agility, have been helping the shelter round them up for years, and the tradition to this day remains. Do what you can to bring them back!
OBJECTIVE: Go and find the lost pets which are roaming Kusagakure!
PAY: 500 Ryo and 100 EXP.

Kasumi Sansei found herself standing outside of the Kusagakure Animal Rescue Shelter. she had just spoken to the man who was in charge of coordinating with the shinobi that took up the mission called "The Great Escape". She knew what she had to do, and she was more than ready. "At least they're learning. Only a few of the animals managed to get free before they realized there was a breakout. Should be a piece of cake to find these little guys," she said.

She walked away from the shelter and looked around, thinking maybe a few of the animals might have stuck around, but she had no such luck. She was going to have to make use of her Sensory capabilities and push them to their limit in order to locate the pets. After all, she knew that animals were very resourceful and very good at hiding. They wouldn't be able to hide from her though. Very few were capable of doing such a thing.

As soon as she thought herself a decent distance from the shelter, she found a tree that had a modest height and began to climb it. She found that it was easier to track from a higher position, because there were no obstacles in the way of her Mind's Eye to surprise her when she went to do the retrieving. She wasn't always able to intend things like walls, and when she searched from higher up, she was able to determine the rough layout of an area by looking at it.

After about a minute of graceful swings and leaps that would shock a seasoned acrobat, Kasumi had reached the halfway height of the large, sturdy plant -- about 8 meters above the ground. The kunoichi made her way to the middle of a firm branch and looked out over the village, her hands rising up to about chest level and coming together in the shame of the Ram handseal. Her eyes closed up, tighter than a prison cell, and her mind opened up to the Chakra Signatures of all animals. From there, she would narrow it down to the three that had escaped.

One was an owl -- generally uncommon sights, especially during the day. Another was a rabbit, white with brown and orange patches on its body. They were fast, but so was Kasumi. The third and final creature was a dog that answered to the name of "Hoegoe" and was noted to be friendly and outgoing. He actually had an adoption possibility, but he needed to be back by the time the family came to see him. It was up to Kasumi to make sure that he got back in time, and she planned to do that.

Kasumi's mind opened wide, and she searched through her whole 50 meter range for each of the animals. The owl was the first one she was able to find, since it was the only owl she was able to see and figured that there wouldn't be many of them around. It was in a tree not too far from her current location, sleeping from what Kasumi could tell. It would probably be one of the easier ones to grab. It wasn't high up and it wasn't conscious. A Water Clone would be more than capable of grabbing it.

The dog was a little bit harder to find since there were multiple dogs in the village. They were one of the more common pets, next to cats. She picked up on a lot of Chakra as she looked for Hoegoe, and there were only a few dogs that seemed to be stray. Even fewer of those seemed to be as friendly to the people around it as Hoegoe was described. Kasumi decided that her best shot would be to send a second Water Clone to check the dogs out. That left the rabbit to herself.

She began searching her range for any and all rabbits or bunnies, and only found one. Apparently they weren't as common in the wild either, though she had heard of people cooking and eating them several times in her life. Either they ate them to the point that there weren't many left in Kusa, or there never had been and those that were prepared had been raised domestically. Either way, the thought made Kasumi's stomach turn sour, but in order to continue with the task, she had to push the sick feeling down.

With each animal located by her Mind's Eye, she was able to hold the positions in her mind. Stopping the flow of Chakra, she slowly made her way down the tree in the same elegant manner as she had made her way up. Once on the ground, she approached a small pond and formed several handseals. In a matter of seconds, two duplicates of herself stood on the edge of the water, having formed from its contents. Each clone knew what it had to do, and left immediately. Hopefully they wouldn't get too far away from her, or they would fall apart. She had never tested the distance before, so she could only hope for the best.

They had gone after their targets, and she had hers. The rabbit. It was close by, running from tree to bush and back again, simply enjoying its freedom. It was unfair that the animals were confined in such a way, so Kasumi decided to suggest an open space for them to frolic back at the shelter. It took her only a minute to come to the place where the rabbit was playing, and she knew she would need to be careful and quick to catch it and bring it back. Her best bet was to use the Shunshin technique she had at her disposal.

The kunoichi took a deep breath and waited for the rabbit to make another move. At the moment when it moved from the tree back to the bush, she would make a dash for it to scoop it up, and then proceed back to the shelter. To her surprise, it stayed in its place for longer than she expected, and when it finally did move it caught her with her guard down. Her capture attempt was sloppy and her quick movement nearly trampled the creature, though she managed to just barely avoid it by jumping at the last second, though she slammed against a tree.

The creature was frightened and so it began to run away, but Kasumi was right on it and used another Shunshin to get up and catch up to the white, brown and orange little thing. She managed to just barely scoop it up in her arms and stop herself from slamming face first into another tree. "You're a tricky little thing, aren't you?" she said softly, petting the startled animal to calm it down. By then, her Water Clones had managed to get back to the shelter with Hoegoe and the owl, so all that was left on her plate was the bunny. She walked off slowly with it, eager to give her suggestion of an open space, and perhaps ask to take the rabbit with her on her next mission. It had given her a run for her money, perhaps it would do the same for a few little kids.
