But at what cost? Have they become the very thing that they despised the most...? Heroes and villains seem to change roles every day, but one thing is for certain - we yearn for our freedom, for days gone by where we flew the skies unhindered.
To call this Nara boring in appearance would be too kind; he stands an average 5’6” in height with a childish body neither too thin nor too thick. His hair is plain black and reaches down to his shoulder blades, often hooked up in a sloppy ponytail at the back of his head with a messy thick fringe falling over his face hiding him from sight. His eyes are steel grey in colour, eyelids half-closed with a pointy nose and a perpetual frown on his thin, pale lips. He looks as if puberty caught him in the middle of exotic, pointy facial features and a childish stature making him an awkward mix to look at the few moments his hair is out of his face long enough for people to study it.
Caring about style and colour coordination is a bother, wearing too bright colours is a bigger bother, so his wardrobe consists mainly of grey to black pants or shorts, grey to black shirts and a distinct grey scarf hanging loosely around his neck. He wears his forehead protector around the middle of his right thigh.
Have several smaller scars from childhood accidents and training, but nothing particularly impressive or noticeable unless you deliberately looked for them.
Has a tendency for slouching, making him seem shorter than he is as well as giving him a horribly uninterested posture. Whenever he speaks it starts out as a mumble and he’ll only speak up louder when asked to do so. Chews on the inside of his cheeks, his lips or his hair when in a pinch and tends to place two fingers against his forehead, right above his nose, when trying to concentrate.
♕ » PERSONALITY. ✓ CIVIL:
Rare is the times when this guy bothers acting deliberately rude or mean towards anyone, friend or foe alike, but don’t mistake it for him being naïve and liking everyone, you’ll get a hit in the face the moment he is pried to give away his real thoughts. This is also something that stems from a particular want to shield people from getting hurt, but rather that as long as he can he’d rather not offend anyone because offended people is, well, a bother, and we all know that a Nara male isn’t exactly fond of unnecessary bothers.
Lazy as he might be he is far from the type to run away from his duties. Shinya is loyal towards his country, his village and most importantly his clan and when he has to there is little he wouldn’t do to keep any of these safe. But of course, he wouldn’t jump into a certain defeat just like that, hot-headed and impulsive actions just don’t suit him.
Shinya is a ‘one expression’ kind of guy where no amount of chaos seems to faze him outwardly. He is capable of remaining stoically calm though thick and thin raising belief that he ‘must be totally frigid inside’. But it’s not like he doesn’t have emotions, he just doesn’t show them as exuberantly as the more zealous of his peers, and by comparison he does indeed appear frigid.
Shinya acts with a logic-over-emotion mindset that makes him almost painfully rational and realistic, but fortunately he has enough tact not to rain on everyone’s happy parade. He owes little of the impulsiveness that many others display, always thinking through his actions before putting them into motion, thus often viewed as a bit of a spoil-sport or a very dull, boring guy. He actually prefers it this way.
✓ OPEN MINDED:
Personal opinions, beliefs, interests and those incredibly sob-inducing cruel pasts are of no interest to him, and likewise he expects not to end up as the solid rock that everyone whines and sobs on, expecting comfort and kind words, because that is a position he refuses to take up. Being narrow-minded and blind is a bother; it’s so much easier to just accept anyone and everyone for as long as they don’t cause a ruckus.
✓ OTHER TRAITS INCLUDE: Intelligent, cunning, honest, responsible (when he has to be), mature, reasonable and witty.
Being cynical came in a two-for-one back with his sensible nature and makes for one hell of a spoil-sport nature where he, while he doesn’t necessarily think everyone he sees are evil, does make him a bit of a perpetual pessimist who chooses to acknowledge only the bad in everything that happens. He has a constant ‘half-empty’ outlook on life and does not seem to be bothered by it, now if only the same could be said about his peers.
✘ OWN PACE:
Few things are important enough for him to pick up his pace and move at the speed that others want for him to move at. He eats slowly, talks slowly (and lowly), walks slowly and does everything at whatever pace suits him the best regardless of if others approve of it or not. He’ll even grumble and frown further when forced out of his comfortable style.
No Shinya doesn’t believe that the world circles around him, if anything he is quite happy that it don‘t, all the attention would be sure to drive him up the wall and into an early death. Nor is he truly ego-centric; however he tends to value himself above others, or rather, tends to value his own comfort and lazy lifestyle above being the hero or the person who can protect others. At least he comes off as being such.
Large crowds tire him out, noise annoys him and you will never, trust me, NEVER see him enjoy a party. This man is introverted down to his very marrow and anything remotely social is a bother that needs too much effort for what it is worth. He attends to mandatory events only to play the wallflower until the end, grumbles like a cynical old man on his way home only to go to bed and grumble some more.
He lacks the motivation and will-power to put any effort into the things he does, at least for as long as he can get away with a quarter-hearted job. He is content drifting on his mediocre effort and doesn’t seem to care if people think he is stupid or incredibly lazy. It takes a very good hand to find the few nerves that has him working hard, a very good hand and a few very tasty carrots (so to speak.)

They are sharpened, four-pronged metal stars, no more than a few inches long, and are extremely useful for throwing. Although small, they can be used to distract, or, if accurate enough, to kill. They have an open circle in the center, used for grabbing with a finger, to avoid cutting oneself, or to put thread through. Radio Rank: C Type: Accessory / Self Special: Has a range up to 10 miles. Description: The short range radio is capable of keeping ninja in contact across several miles. Kage Mane no Jutsu (Shadow Imitation Technique) Rank: D, C, B, A, S Type: Supplementary / Secret Technique Range: 0 - 50 meters Special: Once the Nara's shadow extension reaches 50 meters, each 'S' ranked retraining adds 1 extra opponent hold and 10 more meters to their max shadow extension. When capturing multiple opponents, their total distance from the user must be equal or less to their highest rank achieved within this jutsu; ie., with ‘C’ ranked ‘Kage Mane’, up to 4 opponents can be captured, as long as their distances from the Nara combined do not exceed 40 meters. User may not capture opponents with twice as many jutsu as themselves due to their overwhelming chakra strength. That said, any sudden presence of incredible energy, such as the Gates, will break hold of the ‘Kage Mane’ instantly. Cool down time is one post at all times, meaning the Nara must wait a single turn before utilizing their Kage Mane again if they exceed their holding limit. Description: Kage Mane no Jutsu is the first ninjutsu technique developed by the Nara clan, and the root of all its power. Its original purpose was as a skill to help delay any pursuers, though throughout time, their paralyzing skills became a weapon all in its own. After forming the needed hand seals, the clan member is able to manipulate their shadow along any surface. By using other nearby shadows they can further extend the reach of their shadow, however they are limited to the surface area of the original cast shadow. Once the clan members shadow reaches the target shadow, it will attach itself. While attached the target will be frozen, only able to replicate in mirror form the actions of the clan member. If the clan member is low on chakra, the Kage Mane will falter and the shadow will return to its normal form. Domain: Nara.
Kage Bikan no Jutsu (Shadow Vision Technique) Rank: D Type: Supplementary / Secret Technique Range: 10 meter radius Special: Every time this jutsu is re-learned, the user extends their range of vision by 1 meter. Description: Kage Bikan is a simple yet effective jutsu of the Nara clan. After forming the necessary handseal, the user holds the final one and sends chakra to their eyes, allowing their vision to penetrate the shadows and darkness. Although the range and periphery is limited, one nonetheless can see clearly through the darkest of moments. Domain: Nara. Kage Mane 'D'.
Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu (Shadow Neck Bind Technique) Rank: C Type: Offensive / Secret Technique Range: See 'Kage Mane' Special: Escaping costs a ‘B’ ranked amount of chakra, but a sudden surge in power like the Gates can also work. Description: Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique developed by the Nara clan. To perform the technique the clan member will first bind their target using the Kage Mane no Jutsu technique. Once the target can no longer move, they form the needed hand seal to initiate this technique. The clan member uses their shadow to form a pair of hands which will creep up their opponent’s body to their neck. Once the hand reaches the neck, it will constrict in such a manner so as to strangle the opponent. However, the clan member will need to be careful. If their target has a lot of chakra, they can turn back the shadow hand and prevent it from binding their neck. Domain: Nara. Kage Mane 'C'.
Kage Shibari no Jutsu (Shadow Foot Bind Technique) Rank: C Type: Offensive / Secret Technique Range: See 'Kage Mane' Special: User is able to control speed at which victims are dragged, but can never exceed the Kage Mane’s regular movement speed. Description: The user forms the clan’s handseal, focusing chakra down into the linked shadows of their foe and themselves. Hands of shadow will spread up the foe’s body, similar to the ‘Neck Bind Technique’, but instead they descend, wrapping around their legs and holding them in place, independent of the user’s motions. These hands will knock the foe to the ground, and begin slowly dragging them towards the user. Domain: Nara. Kage Mane 'C'.
Genjutsu Kai! (Release) Rank: D, C, B, A, S Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu Range: Self Chakra: See special! Special: User can only release themselves from illusions of equal or lower rank. Chakra costs is equal to the Genjutsu being dispelled. Description: Kai is a Ninjutsu technique which allows the ninja to avoid the effects of a Genjutsu illusion. After forming the needed handseals, the Genjutsu technique will not affect the ninja. The ninja can also use the technique on another individual who was unable to avoid the attack. After forming the needed hand seals, the ninja touches the one affected to end the affect of the spell. Domain: Universal Ninjutsu.
Ayatsuito no Jutsu (String Reeling Technique) Rank: D, C, B, A, S Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu Range: See special! Chakra: Low - Very High Special: Adds chakra strength to the ninja wire equal to the highest rank learned. Description: Ayatsuito no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing wire. This string can be used in rappeling, or as a method to tie down and restrict the movement of an opponent. The Uchiha clan also utilizes the wire in their Sharingan Soufuusha Sannotachi technique. The wire allows the clan member to pin down an opponent, and then unleash a torrent of fire upon them. This is just one of many ways, however, that the string can be made useful - as long as the user is in control of their string, they shall be sending special chakra that reinforces it, making it almost unbreakable. Domain: Universal Ninjutsu.
Kekkai • Tengai Houjin (Barrier • Dome Method Formation) Rank: D, C, B, A, S Type: Supplementary / Defensive / Ninjutsu Range: 0 - 50 meters Chakra: Low - Very High Special: Rank determines level, and type of chakra that is detectable - 'D' rank is 10 meters, and each rank increases by 10. Must be still in order to use. Description: Kekkai • Tengai Houjin is a Ninjutsu technique named a barrier jutsu due to the field of chakra that it disperses around. After having their hands come together, the user can extend a sensory barrier to detect the movements of a hidden foe. Should the field touch their opponent, the user will know their position immediately. Domain: Universal Ninjutsu.
Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique) Rank: D Type: Supplementary / Ninjutsu / High-Speed Movement Range: 0 - 10 meters Chakra: Low Special: Flickering is near-instantaneous forward movement, meaning the user will rush almost instantly to wherever they are facing as chakra pushes their legs to inhumane levels. The user can flicker once per thread, plus once more each time retrained. One cannot attack or perform techniques during Shunshin. Description: Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic ninjutsu technique used across the shinobi world by all, ranging from the most basic shinobi to the legends of lore. Considered is a high-speed movement technique, it allows a ninja to move short to long distances at an almost untraceable speed - to an observer, it appears as if the user has teleported. Such a feat is accomplished by using chakra to temporarily vitalise the body and move at extreme speeds they would otherwise be unable to reproduce. In the end, the user will appear and disappear in an instant, allowing them to retreat or attack suddenly should they need it. To facilitate the movement the ninja will often use nearby elements such as mist, sand or leaves to mask their appearance or disappearance. Domain: Shunshin - Universal Ninjutsu.
Kazekaeshi (Wind Return) Rank: D, C, B, A, S Type: Defensive / Fuuton Ninjutsu Range: See special! Chakra: D: Low; C, B: Mid; A, S: High Special: Effective in blocking and returning ninjutsu and taijutsu of equal rank. Push-back distance starts off at 10 meters, and increases by 10 more with each new rank acquired. Description: No one knows the power of Fuuton more than a Fuuton specialist, and this technique was designed by those that met reality sooner than most. Varying by skill and rank, this technique allows the user to take hold of any offensive jutsu used upon them, as along as the attack’s nature allows for whatever is thrown to be controlled. With a great burst of chakra at either their hands or weapons, the user quickly returns the technique back at the opponent, in full effect. Domain: Fuuton.
Kaiten Shuriken (Rotating Shuriken) Rank: D Type: Supplementary / Fuuton Ninjutsu Range: 10+ meters Chakra: Low Special: Wind boost travels up to 10 meters and can control up to 5 projectiles at a time; when relearned, the wind gains 10 extra meters of travel and 5 more projectiles to control. Description: One of the simplest Fuuton techniques, this supplementary technique allows the user to take any secondary/projectile weaponry they have on them and coat them in Fuuton chakra. This allows the user to shoot them at high speeds under the wind manipulation, adding rotation and tumbling power to increase the speed of normal weapon attacks, as well as its deadliness.
