Jiyuu’s steel grey eyes drew in Ryusuke’s features. The Shikigami felt some shame creeping into his senses most subtly at first, growing and growing by the moment, cumulating in the man averting his gaze. Before him stood but a child, a former leader of Konohagakure – Jiyuu was thirty, and held no significance in the village before arising to the position of Hokage. Had he truly failed or was this boy simply more capable, more successful? That thought aided little in calming Jiyuu’s senses, for how could he be outdone by a child. Gritting his teeth, the Sandaime Hokage spoke, tone a deep grumble.
” I am certain their memories of you are no worse than their current thoughts of me. I am dealing with a rebellion. Men are as dissatisfied with me as they were with you when the village was destroyed. It was not your own doing, the foes were simply too mighty, but still they think of you with the slightest hint of regret. They voted you into power. They saw their village destroyed. They voted me into power. They saw a rebellion. There is no forgiveness for our failures.”
Jiyuu turned on his heel and stared off into the distance, hands dropping to his side, fists clenched. What has happened to Konohagakure? First it is destroyed and then plagued by horror – were the two Hokage truly failures? Or was Jiyuu simply too worried? Still, Konoha has prospered, restructured. Goodness, the man did not know what to thing, his mind was wrought with contradictions.
”And another vital development..I have formed an organization. Enstehung. It is our duty to free ourselves from the damned bonds of the Feudal Lords. They must be destroyed. Tell me, Nindaime Hokage, where do your loyalties lie?”
