With the crowds gone, the corpses of the two dead were revealed in full. The exploding pouch had truly done its work. The young boy lost his left leg, tendon and muscles torn, dripping with blood. Metal projectiles tore a hole into the elderly man’s stomach, guts flung out, sprawled on the ground. Terror filled their post mortem stare, hinting at last moments of fear and pain. Even in death, the older man clenched a miniature, wooden horse in his left hand. Upon it was a letter with fine writing. ’For Yaira, my grand daughter.’ it said.
”Come out!” a voice bellowed from the outside. The origin of the voice was that of a slim man standing no higher than five feet and eleven inches, seen through a window near the door. Furs covered his figure to protect from the weather. Three further men stood behind him, scarcely visible through the raging sands. Not yet did the men make any motions to enter. The quartet acted warily, startled by the earlier explosion. ”Come out, or we will take you by force.”
The cloaked man turned towards Hyoka, face still shrouded. For several moments he remained silent, the white gleam of his smirk still visible. ” You could have prevented all of this by paying, you know. Seems as if you caused quite the chaos here. Sunagakure, looking for it, eh? I have a proposition ” he uttered, voice deep and reverberating. The sandstorm continued to roar furiously, but the man, ominously, seemed to be entirely unaffected. After yet another moment of silence he stood, head tilted.
”Come out!” the guard roared again, numerous feet scurrying outside. They were on the move.
The cloaked stranger continued,”I go there by myself, but I can’t exactly walk through the desert. Some men want my head. Like the people in this city now want yours.” Again he fell silent, tension building as the guards grew more furious by the moment. ”I will pass underground for several miles. It is dangerous. Make your choice now.” Quickly the stranger turned on his heel and darted through the hole, running off into the distance under cover of the sand storm.
