And with that, they left. The woman couldn't have spoken more than five words in her time here. Ashura, while much more eloquent, was as abrupt in taking his leave. But, i supposed their journey had no doubt led to many dead ends, and dwelling upon each one would only make their goal that much further away. If indeed it could be reached. I waved as they bowed and made their way from the lounge. He had been a pleasure to talk to. I felt almost guilty that i had learned more from our conversation than he had. Finishing off my wine, i picked up the brunette's glass, at least she appeared to have enjoyed it, and rose from my chair.
"Strange, weren't they? The girl seemed to be very much a subordinate of the child. Perhaps he possesses his father's leadership qualities." I said, smiling to myself as Rosa took the glasses from my hands.
"Do you think they'll find him? Eventually?" She asked, frowning. Trying not to mimic her, as i was getting to the stage where the wrinkles would become permanent, i considered.
"I doubt it. If the man has abandoned his son for all these years, why would he come back for him now? If he wasn't finally caught and murdered." I said airily. I couldn't deny that i was rooting for the young boy and his strange companion. If not in succeeding in the goals, i did at least want him to be happy.
But it simply wouldn't do to have that man around once more.
"I'm popping out dear. Are the drycleaners open today?" I asked, as an afterthought, stuffing papers from Rosa's desk into my handbag to take on my trip to the library. Her frown deepened and i laughed.
"I'll drop in and check on my way back. Ciao darling." And i left, taking a mountain of unfinished paperwork with me.[exit!]
