Destruction: Crashing the Chuunin Exams! [2]

Streets that were once filled with the laughter and chatter of their natives were now set ablaze. Blood ran freely from many of the ninjas that had already fallen, and even more so from the innocents caught in the crossfire.

Bakudon Gai had very hastily become an urban battlefield; it was the perfect stage to announce the ending of all things.

The air was warm, the scene rather distasteful. The city i had visited so often had become a battlefield, the bars i drank at and the boutiques i shopped at may soon be reduced to mere rubble. This thought outraged me more than anything, and for the first time, i felt real anger. Just who was picking a fight with the land of earth? What arrogant tyrant or conniving noble felt justified launching such an unprovoked attack? Strutting through the streets, hearing screams and brawls, my mascara'd eyes hardened, the dark liner edging my fury. Without warning, i came upon one of my favourite shops, an adorable little place which sold vintage accessories and other such fabulous trinkets. Men were fighting, as men so often did, and i could see it was some shinobi from my own village, locked in fierce combat with the invaders. Kirigakure. I knew little of the village, the only encounter i could think of was of Kain and i dispatching one of their ninja who had wandered foolishly into our territory. Today would be a refresher course.

"Excuse me, do you mind?" I called sweetly, before threads spiralled out from my hands and mouth, tearing through the air towards the black garbed assailants. These unknown faces, these unknown shinobi, they were overstepping their boundaries, here on some vicious, uncalled for destruction. And i would give them just that. Two of them were caught instantly, lashings of silk entangling and ensnaring their forms, and the one man leaping back from my attack found himself set upon by both earth shinobi i was aiding. Walking leisurely towards them, i produced a single senbon, and a bottle of perfume. Without looking at him, i stabbed the first man in the throat, a gurgling gasp letting me know he would put up no fight, not anymore.

I got up close to the second man, lifting him from his feet with my threads.
"Just who is behind this?" Were my only words. I could hear the two ninja subduing the remaining kiri attacker, and we were left with just this fellow. Naturally, as a shinobi, the answer would not come easily. Smiling my lipstick'd smile, i raised the perfume, and sprayed heavily in his face. The poisoned fragrance would cause delightful internal bleeding, left with no way to avoid it as he was.
"Once again sweetie, who is responsible for this attack?" I asked, as serious as i'd been in a long time.

A lot had happened to me recently. A lot that i found hard to handle, hard to maintain. Such loss followed by my hopes being dashed, and my dear homeland being attacked? I felt sorry for the person behind this. As strong as he may be, he would do well to stay clear of my path. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. With no answer forthcoming, my soft pink smile widened ever so slightly, and i swung my fist, glinting rings smashing into the man's face. He was bleeding, both inside and out now, and still he wouldn't say a word. A true shinobi. And a dead one. One swift jab with the senbon and he had departed this land for good.

Sighing, i turned away from him, hearing my comrades' thanks behind me, and their hasty departure to aid the city. I wouldn't let this happen. I wouldn't lose anything important to me again.

'I think we have an emergency. Are you listening?' Her heart began to race faster as she fled the scene of the exams. There was not a set destination that she was headed towards, but she knew that wherever the other participants were going, that she would end up following them for now. It only made sense that she kept a close eye on those that were in the same predicament as her to see how they reacted to this sudden invasion. There were civilians all along the pathway toward the eastern-bound point of the city. It was a horrible sight for this blonde ninja to see. It only confirmed that this war was true. She kept close to the group that was fleeing in front of her, heading directly for the forefront of the battle, she supposed. All of her shinobi equipment remained on her person per usual.

The beautiful kunoichi had her rapier around her waist in its sheathe. Her weapon pouch remained on the right side along her waist, just above her buttocks. She kept her hidden senbon launcher within the sleeves of her kimono; of course she would only wear the most tailored of clothing to best suit her. She noticed the dozens of fallen villagers that had died to the invaders, but just who where they? As she was running towards the eastern most point, she would come across an intruder whom would stop her. He seemed to have been beaten up badly, and yet he still glared at the lovely lady. “You…are from the Kumogakure village. Then you are not an ally.” The man would charge at the unsuspecting girl. He held a kunai in his right hand poised to pierce her in the chest.

Reacting quickly, the agile girl would remove her sword quickly and jab at his hand, knocking his weapon out of his grasp. Without even thinking twice, she would then stab directly into his heart, no questions asked. Adrenaline began to flood the girl’s bloodstream as she could not believe that this was all really happening. Her hand was trembling, whilst still holding her sword directly into his chest. She removed her sword and re-sheathed it. The invader fell subsequently, and there was only thing that the kunoichi could really take in from this situation. ’Kirigakure headband, eh? They are ruthless…going to take out anyone that is not their allies.’ She was a bit afraid, the fact that he was already severely injured, and still tried to fight her just because she was wearing a Kumogakure headband was true devotion to his village. This was going to be a tough war.

Unfortunately for the poor mistress, she had lost track of the one man that was in the same room with her. Observing directly ahead of her view at approximately twenty meters away, there would be another woman fending of Kirigakure soldiers. She seemed to remember seeing that other lady in the conference room earlier that day. Looking directly at her, the kunoichi would speak loudly to get her attention, "Oi, hey! I remember you were in the exams...just what is going on here?" Hopefully, the other girl would recognize the golden-locked child and take notice of her kumogakure headband as well. She was not a foe. Keenly, cerulean gems would carefully watch any and all of the movements that this person made, just in case they were not so friendly as she was.

[atrb=style, background: transparent; padding 0px; cell spacing: 4px; opacity: 0.9] I WANNA BE STRONGER THAN OCEANS; I WANNA LIFT MOUNTAINS HIGH; BRING GLORY BACK TO MY NAME; I WANNA MOVE FASTER THAN TIME; SEW YOUR EYES SHUT ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ ¤ it was that time, time to wage war as not only had the water country grown by ten fold, it's hidden village, the village hidden in the mist, had as well if not by twenty. though fumito only knew stories of the hidden mist he gauged the stories brutality to what he had come to know and see within his new home. and as they all made their way to the earth country he couldn't help, but grin in anticipation. polishing his red helmet he glanced about to the other shinobi, they were all prepared, prepared to decimate their enemies. arriving at the earth county's well known blast city fumito found himself quickly pulling on his red helmet as the invading force began it's assault. buildings were attacked, civilians and the like murdered with so much ease. launching himself from a building he found himself landing in the area where apparent proctors and the like for the chuunin exams were gathering. though no fear was felt as fumito began his assault on them. some would say this was due to the group of mist shinobi following him, but to be truthful it was just due to fumito's reckless nature. choosing to beat down his opponents with his mixture of taijutsu and hozuki abilities he'd help clean house literally as he dissolved away armour and flesh alike. "i bet the bosses get all the challenges, heh, no fair!"

grinning beneath his mask he'd lead surviving members of his group onwards, they had much to do, and fumito wanted his kill count to be one of the highest if not the highest. working his way up a building under construction he'd lead an attack on enemy shinobi who were using it as a safe haven while they used long-ranged attacks. ducking, dodging, and moving his way about to avoid harm he'd quickly make his way to face the cowards. with his expertise in close combat, and their lack of, they'd all be killed quickly, to the lack of amusement of fumito. WHERE WERE THE WORTHY OPPONENTS?!.

thought it was at this time he caught sight of an unfamiliar warrior down below taking the life of one of fumito's group. a female..., but perhaps she could show herself as a challenge?! shaking with eagerness he'd quickly leap from the steel beam he stood on, bouncing from beam to beam until it was safe to just free fall to the ground to meet his target. though during his decent he'd witness another girl showing up, hmm the possibilities.

I fought hard to rationalize the idea of a necessary evil, and though I knew it was wrong, I didn't yet know why. I hadn't seen what it would lead to. So I went along with these supposed plans of invading. I swore to myself, though, that I wouldn't harm anyone who wasn't either a shinobi, or who tried to attack me first. The smoke was thickening as waves of fire sought to engulf everything, and I continued to the east, watching blood spilling, and keeping an eye out over my own shoulder for assailants. Thankfully, I found none. I rushed onwards through streets and back-alleys, weaving about and offering support where I felt it necessary. I aided a fellow kiri-nin with a kill thanks to a well placed hunk of ice, and I'd already had to kill two of our genin as they tried to rape a defenceless pregnant woman, who I then urged to flee. I wasn't happy having my countryman's blood on my hands, but I wouldn't stand by and let them do that of all things to someone. The Mizukage might have pardoned it, but I wouldn't, and I would rather face my death at his hands for stopping them then sit idly by and facilitate the hurt that woman would have had to go through. Even necessary evil has standards. That said, I eventually made my way to the east side of town, and down a back alley to a main street, where I saw a scene unfolding before me. Two women were facing down another of my countrymen. I recognized the latter as Fumito, one of our Chuunin, and I could tell that one of the women had been a chuunin candidate like myself, who had been in the same room as I had. I stepped forward, joining my countryman, albeit staying about 15 feet behind him for safety's sake. I knew what he was like sometimes. As for myself, I stood poised almost silently, taking a fighting stance, and staring down the other two. "I can't say I'm enamored of our dear leader's tactics, but if you two don't surrender, then we're going to have to kill you..." My voice was sombre, but determined. I didn't want this, but maybe that was for the best. A necessary evil should feel sick about what he was doing. It meant that I was at least still human... Not today. Not fucking today. I had turned upon finishing up with the three mist shinobi, and had caught my first glimpse of the helmeted newcomer. Not a chance. Not in my homeland, after interrupting my exams, following the biggest blow from the person i trusted the most. The very moment he let himself fall, my threads were tearing through the air towards him, already out and moving from dealing with the men before. Ten meters was no distance whatsoever, as my threads could easily triple that length, and free falling in midair as he was, there was really not much chance of him avoiding them. Laced along two of the threads were exploding tags, and the moment my threads touched him and began to rapidly cocoon his body, they would go off, blowing the man to smithereens.

At least, that was the plan. Perhaps he wasn't a kirigakure shinobi, perhaps he was someone from a different village, but if these bastards could slaughter people on a whim, then so could i. Casualty of war, darling.
"Surrender? You waltz into my homeland, slaughter countless people, and ask me to surrender? Sweetie, i won't even chip a nail burying you." I was furious. Gone were any thoughts of composure, and gone was any hesitation. The exams were unceremoniously over, but this was the real test. I was alone, and i would fight to my last breath. But, then again, perhaps not completely alone. She looked so frail, i hadn't noticed her until now. Barely turning, i shouted over to the girl who had addressed me.

"War, darling. That's what's going on. Kirigakure has overstepped its boundaries. Kumo, aren't you? Make the right choice my dear."

I was fighting, the time to choose was long over for me. Surprisingly, i did remember her from the boat ride. I knew i had no right to expect anything but desertion from her, but in the face of such obvious wrong, perhaps there was a chance of compassion? My assault on the initial arrival over, i was ready to deal with whoever came calling. I didn't have him to rely on anymore. I didn't have anyone. But i had faith, faith in myself. In Coco.

Without having much time to even plan a proper strategy to fight in this war, the golden-locked child was once again reminded that she was on the battlefield. A crimson helmeted foe leapt from an uncompleted building. It was a rather shocking sight to see directly in front of this Iwagakure shinobi and the girl, but they would be aware of everything. The Iwagakure ninja whom was standing further in front of her had somehow launched out wires, no—threads, towards the opponent during his descent.

The very same moment that Hayline had saw the other woman use such an ability at such an incredible speed, another shinobi had apparently walked into the battlefield in plain view of the duo. He was standing a few feet away from where the red-helmeted shinobi would have landed, however it appeared as though the two foes were common allies among themselves. ’Two on two, eh?’ As soon as her apparent partner had used her ability, Hayline had already began to formulate the required handseals needed to use her jutsu. It would take only but a moment to use such a lower ranking technique. Thanks to her extensive knowledge over her kekkei touta, her technique would be birthed to life at once with great proficiency.

Several crystallized pillars would sprout from directly under the other shinobi, no matter his position on this battlefield thanks to her wide range over her skills. The pillars would quickly bind themselves at an angle all along his feet and arms, disabling him from using any movement or handseals. A total of six pillars would be used to keep his arms bound to his side, as well as his legs completely stuck in place. The shinobi would feel an uncomfortable amount of pressure against his limbs as they were tightly crushed against his body. Had her attack been successful, she would appropriately continue her dominance over those two foes.

Special: Rank determines strength of Shoton creations, and level of techniques which the user can crystallize. Covers a 10 meter radius, plus 10 more for each additional rank attained.
Description: The root behind Shoton's unbridled power comes from the ability to crystallize anything, as well as manipulate already-existing crystals and crystalline structures. Sekisuisho can crystallize any solid substance, so releases such as Earth, Water, and Wood techniques are virtually useless against it. Using crystal ninjutsu, the user can crystallize any physical material and even the moisture in the air around them, turning them into a weapon. The only apparent weakness of the crystallization process is that it cannot crystallize either raw energy or chakra as they have no physical mass to crystallize, allowing a person with either energy-based jutsu, such as Lightning, Fire, or Wind, or even someone simply with good chakra control to properly counter it. Finally, all Shoton creations are also susceptible to a specific sound wave frequency; because crystal requires a very precise build-up of molecules, the proper sound waves can break down the build-up before the crystal can properly form.

After forming a few simple seals, the Shoton user summons a flurry of fast moving crystal pillars from underneath their target's feet. The aim is not to injure them, but to overwhelm their body in staffs of crystal that prevent movement and best of all, drain the user of chakra slowly in order to power and reinforce the prison.

"aye, that all you got?!"

It seemed as though the moment I started walking towards the group, combat would have started. It seemed as though these two didn't want to play nice. Pity, that. The words I would have said were halted, as I instead burst forward the moment I saw movement. It might have only taken an instant for my foe's technique, but by the time it would have struck where I was, I was already in a full run, three meters ahead, flourishing first a single kata, and a swift exhalation, (I was running after all) then with that jutsu finished, unleashing a longer string. As I released my breath into the smoke cloud above, rain would begin to pour down upon our battlefield, drizzling and coating the area. Water would be everywhere, and that was all I needed. I kept my eyes locked on the little one, as I assumed Fuu could handle his attacker. Chakra and blood and adrenaline pumped through my veins as I ran, never letting my hazel eyes leave her. I was keeping my senses sharp, ready for her to move at any time, for surely she wouldn't stand still as an opponent rushed her from the front. Even if she did, it was no matter. Whereever she was, as my sixth seal finished, an ice mirror would appear directly behind her, only two feet away, hanging in mid-air. It's twin would likewise simultaneously appear the same distance in front of me, which was still five meters from the tallest foe, and a short number more from the shorter. Checkmate. For even as I finished the string, my right hand would reach down to my right leg, and reach for the katar holstered there. Of course I had continued my run during this reach, and as I did, I would no doubt be able to see the girl's back as I swiftly approached. On my last step I would raise my arm and push off with my foot, leaping forward through the one mirror to appear through the other, and slam my katar up and through the girl's armipt and shoulder, causing a vital wound, as well as severing several important muscles and nerve endings. It would almost certainly make it impossible for her to use any more ninjutsu. "Leave now, or die. Your choice." I would say, provided my assault was successful, and withdraw my blade, ready for the little girl, or her friend, to try and mount a counter attack. Sloppy. Thankfully the tags were laced along the threads, making it impossible for them to be situated at the tips, and equally impossible for his corrosive acids to destroy them. The moment he was reaching out his hand and beginning to melt the first few threads that were actually aimed in that direction, the remainder of the multitude of threads aiming to cocoon his body, and not just his hand, had already looped around him, and in that instant, the tags had exploded. At that range, pressed against him as they were, i failed to see how an explosion from both tags wouldn't take care of the cocky shinobi.

My face had hardened, my makeup, however delicate, merely highlighted my seething indignation. Without a change in expression, i felt a great relief inside that this girl had deigned to aid me. This was not her fight, not her homeland, but somehow, she was on my side. I appreciated that, and should we live through this, would make sure she knew it. As such, i would do my best to protect her, and began my follow up.

Regardless of the condition of the ninja i had attacked, i let a few of my threads peel off from him and veer to the side. His companion appeared to have run straight forwards, from behind the helmeted man as he was, and as such, had run straight into my path. Two threads grabbed his ankles, snaring his progress, should i catch him. As delicate as they looked, they were as strong as steel, and he would find continuing whatever actions he had in mind rather difficult. And it appeared he had a great chain of events in mind, judging by his weaponry and handseals, giving me plenty of time for my threads to grasp him, particularly considering how hard they were to see.

"Gracious, your parents can't be proud." I muttered, threads still dancing around the battlefield. I wasn't going to let their filthy hands stain my already tattered earth country. Not any longer.

The mistake.

You see, her opponent had greatly underestimated her command over her beloved crystal techniques, but how could he have known its beauty?

It might have only taken an instant for my foe's technique, but by the time hit would have struck where I was, I was already in a full run, three meters ahead,

The problem lies in that this technique ended once Hayline decided it would end. Her Area of prison creation was solely dependent on her control over her crystallized ability, and LUCKILY for her, she had a whopping FIFTY meters to exploit, therefore; she would be ABLE to create MORE pillars within this range, and not just any one specific location as he had thought.

Once her opponent had decided to RUN forward in a STRAIGHT line towards her, she would SIMPLY conjure up yet MORE pillars to sprout directly in front of the moving ninja, BINDING him from all around his moving position. Since he was clearly charging forward, it would be very easy for her to just create more a mere yard ahead of him to cause the pillar to smash directly into his chest, and subsequently the other pillars would also slam against his arms and legs to bound him.

Six pillars would shoot in a fast flurry directly ahead of his moving figure before he would magically be able to cover "three" meters, BINDING his body at once from progressing any further than he had initially intended.

YOU SEE. Unless he was able to somehow KNOW what jutsu she was doing, he would NOT be aware of the small pillars that Hayline has ended behind him once she had saw him moving as well, so she STILL had the element of surprise for her crystal pillars being summoned directly around him out of normal eyesight view considering he was sprinting forward.

The words I would have said were halted, as I instead burst forward the moment I saw movement.

Because he had decided to be preoccupied with his dash, he would fall victim to her ability and successfully bound, as several more pillars would then sprout to stop him before he had even begun to use handseals.

Similar to before, he would find himself unable to move. His arms would be tightly trapped, unable to even move his wrist to form handseals with either arms, and his body was securely fastened by her jutsu.

At Shark's request, I'm here to give a decision. Truthfully, because of the sheer nature of Daisy's threads (They're made on the spot) having exploding tags set upon them without describing doing so in your post isn't logical. I looked - carefully, might I add - for any subtle indicators of such being done prior to the attack, but I found none. Therefore, they aren't there and were never placed on the threads.

Aside from that, due to Sharkk's body being completely acidic in response to his technique, nothing, let alone threads of such a substance, would be able to wrap around him without completely disintegrating at the slightest of touches. Due to that, Sharkk's means of further distancing himself is allowed.

I hadn't underestimated her powers, I only used common sense. What kind of ninja runs headlong into something sprouting from the ground a yard ahead of them, just as they're beginning to run? For even though the girls spikes were "fast moving", they were not where she wished them in but the span of an instant, and having but taken my first step into my run when the first protrusion sprouted from the ground before me aimed for my chest, I'd admit that I was surprised, but not beyond evading the purplish beast. It simply took a shift of my weight from my planted foot to the other side of my body, and likewise a turn of my torso and the following foot to change my direction, circumventing all of the pillars she'd birthed in front of me, and moving around them. After all, since all of her spikes were coming from the same spot, directly in front of my body, and they were only four inches in diameter, it would make evasion rather simple. To be honest, I question the logic of all six being birthed from the same place, but I took no real issue with it, as I assumed my foe merely foolish with her first attack, perhaps trying to string together some sort of combination to capture me, based off of what she thought I would do. However, I wasn't so easily snared. That said, I would be foolish to stay on the ground for long, now that I knew it was no longer safe. Having turned at a seventy degree angle to my right, with my side-step, one hand would form a single kata, and water sould swiftly issue from my gourd, making four two foot wide by two foot long, three inch thick panels of ice, each about a foot away from next in a straight line, each approximately nine inches higher than the next. Essentially, they would form a staircase, which I would land on, and hurry myself up. As it was formed right next to my new location, this was hardly an issue. I kept channeling the chakra with my hand, making more panels as I went up, another four in the same configuration as the first, pointed in the same direction, which would connect with the second to allow me to travel even higher. From there, four more would form in a straight line right next to the highest panel I'd crafted, each one lined up perpendicular to the next, with the whole structure running paralell to the girls. For those of you managing to wonder how I ran up ice, as much as I'd like to say it was all part of who I was, the answer was far simpler than that. The panels themselves were not completely flat. The upper surface, in other words, the face pointing up, was slightly jagged; more than enough for my sandals to gain traction on it's surface and allow me to push off from it without slipping. That said, all of the water used for these panels came from my gourd, however, once I made it to the top of the staircase, I would pause only a moment to bring forward yet another handseal, and breath out the hyper condensed steam that would ensure I would not run out of my precious resource. And no, for those wondering, I did not remain a sitting duck atop my staircase. I was happily using the water in my gourd to make more of the panels, forming the single half seal once more, and birthing another twenty panels, four at a time, which would follow the same pattern as the ones that came before. I ran along their surface, paralell to the battle, keeping my eyes out for incoming attacks, and searching for the little blonde girl who had presumably been the cause of the pillars which had attempted to strike me. With forty feet of running room, I would let my hands come together a final time, just starting to weave the seals for what I had planned next. Also, since you stated you made the second batch right in front of me, right as I started my run, I would still have had control of my momentum, hence my reasoning for side-stepping them. Everything else about the attack from my earlier post is now void, though, as I've had to choose a different route to move.

And catch him i did. Unfortunately for whatever the mist shinobi had in mind, he was already snared around his ankles, and i failed to see how he could escape from my iron grip, leaving him easy prey for my erstwhile companion, and her rather beautiful crystalline jutsu.

As for my initial target, well. Some errors in judgement had left me unsure of my exploding tags, and he had managed to burn through some of my webbing, and was now leaping backwards. I frowned, for once ignoring the implication of wrinkles. However, i almost smiled as he began his next movement. Already i had grabbed a senbon, equipped with an exploding tag, and as he began to literally slide towards me, the projectile was already thrown. Such a manoeuvre meant he couldn't revert his momentum, nor dodge to the side, and he would sail straight into my tag as i detonated it midair, moving at such a high speed as he was. The tag would detonate during his sliding movement, hitting before he could reach whatever destination he planned, taking full advantage of the momentum and disposition.

Regardless, i wasn't so confident as to assume myself safe just yet, and so as i had thrown the tag, i had thrown web backwards and upwards from my other hand, flinging myself rapidly back through the air, a small paper floating down to where i had just stood. I sailed backwards, the incredibly strong thread pulling me thirty meters away from his approach incredibly quickly, should he have miraculously avoided the oncoming explosion. At the end of my ascent i would land on a sturdy wooden beam, roughly five meters above the ground. They wouldn't quit, they were the villains, and they just wouldn't quit. I wondered if they knew just how strong my resolve was.
