Gaku watched the senbon glide through the air as it was immediately countered by the Jounin-sensei. Bits of paper gathered and were shot through the air by Jiyuu. Gaku noticed some of it manifesting above his body as well as another clump flying directly toward him. The senbon was immediately enveloped and spat out by the paper, causing little to no damage to the wave of paper that flew directly to him. Losing concern for whether or not the senbon actually hit the target, Gaku began to focus on the new problems at hand.

Slipping his hands into the final seal for the technique he was preparing earlier, Gaku flared chakra within the palms of his hands. He could easily predict what would happen next. The paper, now formed into shurikens, above his head and behind him would immediately come shooting toward his body. Gaku had other plans for the incoming projectiles of paper. "Wind Release: Wind Return," he spoke out whilst the chakra combined with the movement of his hands, forming two separate gusts of wind.

His left hand was directed toward the incoming shuriken at his front, sliding it through the air and expelling a wave of wind upon the incoming paper projectiles. His right hand quickly was waved above his head, flicking the separate gust of wind above his head toward the other set of 5 shuriken that attempted to catch him off guard. Gaku was trying not to use his Byakugan as the constant drain of chakra would eventually render him useless on the battlefield due to fatigue. He had to stay fully aware of his opponent, someone who out-matched him in every aspect.

The expulsion of wind at the front toward the shuriken would also impact the incoming second wave of paper. Gaku noticed clone #1 immediately leaping out of the way of the senbon at very high speeds. The Jounin-sensei was quick, that was for sure. Due to him leaping of the way, the returning wind would send the paper back toward nothing. Gaku also realised that the clone had moved 5 metres toward the left, sending him directly into the area of the main body of Jiyuu. Could Gaku possibly catch him off-guard here? Perhaps he could send an attack to the clone, however actually have it destined for another target: the real Jiyuu.

Standing in the same spot, Gaku filtered his hands through a set of seals and channelled his chakra through his mouth. He hoped one of his team members didn't get in the way of this. "Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere," he mumbled from his mouth and proceeded to direct the bullet of wind toward clone #1. Gaku wasn't hoping to hit the clone. His new target was the real Jiyuu that was positioned behind the clone.

Description: No one knows the power of Fuuton more than a Fuuton specialist, and this technique was designed by those that met reality sooner than most. Varying by skill and rank, this technique allows the user to take hold of any offensive jutsu used upon them, as along as the attack’s nature allows for whatever is thrown to be controlled. With a great burst of chakra at either their hands or weapons, the user quickly returns the technique back at the opponent, in full effect.

Description: After a deep breath, the user will allow the air to mix with their chakra; compressing the mixture into a large ball of wind chakra, bullet emerge from the users mouth, moving fast and ravishing anything in its path.

Crap Sora thought when he saw Jiyuu's clone launch paper outwards to cover whatever Jiyuu was doing. Not being able to see your opponent was a really bad thing in any combat situation, it was could be a disaster when your opponent is the former Third Hokage.

Sora was worried but knew that he should focus on the clone he had assigned himself. Taking it out would help in reduce the number of jutsu being fielded against him and his squadmates. Reading his mind his clone launched a "Daitoppa" at clone #2, trying to do some damage. Instead of the clone it would hit the new wave of paper that was racing at him now putting small hole in it. Though there was now a minor gap in the wave both parts kept moving with equal speed.

Things got even worse when a giant wall of paper formed between him and the rest of his squad. Now not only could he not see his opponent but he couldn't see his teammates. Since he had no idea if his squad had radios or what frequencies they might be on if they had them, it now became very hard to coordinate a plan of attack. He was tactically on his own for the moment.

Sora turned his attention to the wave that was still racing at him. He dived and rolled to a position just behind his clone. When he got up he noticed a small cut on his leg, he quickly looked to see what had caused the injury then saw several very large paper senbon stuck in a few of the wooden posts.

Returning his attention back to his foe he could see that what he assumed was clone #2 was now around 11-12 meters away. The cloud of paper was still up so he guessed that Jiyuu was still behind it. Sora and his clone ran for clone #2.

When they had moved five meters Sora broke off and threw the three shuriken that he still had in his hand into the cloud, in the hopes that the screen that made by the paper would prevent Jiyuu from seeing the attack coming. After releasing the shuriken Sora's hands would quickly form into seals allowing him to perform "Diatoppa". The massive bullet of air would be shot through the paper smoke screen and would hopefully catch Jiyuu off guard. After this Sora would follow his clone.

Meanwhile, Sora's clone would continue forward again as if to engage clone #2 in hand to hand combat. It would stop three meters away and sweeping it's arm in front of itself to perform "Fuusajin". This should dissipate the paper clone and would create a cloud of dust that would cover Sora as he leapt through it to put himself in position behind where he thought Jiyuu was by about three meters handseals already being prepared should he need to use a technique.

Useful for creating vision inhibiting storms, knocking people off balance, covering one’s tracks, escaping, and many, many more!

Jiyuu

The chakra send into the proceeding paper was but a minor distraction – that effort was halted instantaneously for it to instead focus around the Shikigami’s body, soon covering him with an armor of paper¹ blending in perfectly with his choice of clothing – already armor by itself – the two work in conjunction for a fine defense.

The foe’s initiated wise maneuvers, one which Jiyuu could not anticipate directly due to the wave of paper proceeding forth – but the Shikigami was not without clue, hence he initiated defensive maneuvers, a wall of paper forming before him, ten meters high and five wide – not the conventional wall, but one initially created merely as a wall – a camouflaged creation², no more, but with the additional application of chakra, it became incredibly hard , deflecting the sphere and also Sora’s burst of wind and shuriken. A last series of seals, completed quickly, formed wings from his back⁴ and carried him upwards and back, avoiding both the cone of wind and the approaching Sora. He now flew at a height of 8 beters, 5 meters behind his previous position, sending yet another distracting mass of paper at Gaku, in combination with forming seals – the foe had become visible after the enormous wave of paper dissipated.

Clone 1

The wind penetrated the clone, dispersing it into hundreds of sheets that changed their path, flying directly towards Gaku. Some chakra poured into it, reforming the clone⁵ two meters directly ahead of Gaku who had already performed his technique, its rapier drawn – and in those stages after, recovering from releasing air from the lungs, the bunshin struck, the tip of the blade lunging out at his lower abdomen – the point of connection, should it strike, not fatal in the slightest - the strike was not intended to be deep either. That strike did not come alone. With its manipulation of paper, the clone send numerous pieces of parchment fluttering directly towards the foe, into his face, to blind him from the incoming strike.

Clone 2

At its fascinating speed, the clone darted towards the left, ten meters, avoiding the clone and Sora’s leap, for the distance was covered in one second, much quicker than either of them could move. From its body, some paper darted forwards to Sora in an attempt to ensare him, wrap around his body to capture him – a position in which the foe expected Jiyuu to stand, had he not flown. This...trap was hidden amongst a mass of paper flying towards the foe, that parchment seeming to do no more than serve to blind as it hid the true purpose within.

Description: A thin and lightweight armor ninjutsu, this technique covers the user from head to toe in paper. When blended correctly with other Shikigami Ninjutsu, the opponent usually will be incapable of even telling that the user is guarded in this manner. Should the opponent attack the user, they will find the paper defense in the ready to absorb the blow. An attack of equal strength to the user's Crafting Paper Strength will break the armor, creating the need for the armor to be recast, while an attack of greater strength will pierce through the defense, damaging the user.

This ability, not a Genjutsu due to the fact that the user actually changes his or her paper's shapes and colors, allows the user to facilitate the appearance of just about anything, leaving the ability to cleverly trick and attack the opponent.

The plan was ingenius. Attack the main body whilst he was pre-occupied with another member of the team. What could go wrong? Gaku's mouth slid wide into a grin as he witnessed the bullet of wind propel itself directly toward the clone. Closely behind, in the same line of direction, stood the guileless Jiyuu completely unaware of what was about to unfold. All that remained was for the clone to jump out of the way and then the Jounin-instructor would be directly struck.

Things didn't quite work out that way however. Rather than jumping off to the side, the clone seemed to just stand there and prepare itself as if no threat was incoming. The wind bullet shredded into the paper clone, dispersing bits of paper through the air on contact. Gaku noticed the drift in the paper. It began to move hastily toward himself. A moment later the clone re-materialised at the front of Gaku. His plan had gone horribly wrong.

A rapier was drawn and with a quick flick of the clone's wrist, the blade slightly penetrated Gaku's lower abdomen even with the Hyuga's efforts in trying to evade the attack on the spot. His lungs refilled with air quickly as Gaku looked down to inspect the wound that had just been laid upon him. That wasn't the end of it though. As Gaku's eyes quickly dashed up to face the clone, he realised what was coming next. Another set of paper began to flutter toward his body as a sort of distraction, possibly creating an opening for the clone to strike again with the rapier. Gaku had to act quickly. The next strike of the rapier could perhaps wound with fatal damage, especially at this close range.

He slammed both of his hands into seals, channeling chakra into his arms. "Wind Release: Dust Wind," Gaku chanted from his mouth after completion of the seals. He then proceeded to wave his arms in a wave motion across his body, his right arm waving off to the right and his left vice-versa. With the wave of his arms, a 180° cone of wind was generated to knock back anything, or anyone in close vicinity. The wave would hopefully push back the clone and the bits of paper away from his proximity. With this, an additional effect of the technique would be that dust and soil from the ground at his feet would be waved into the air to act as a sort of concealment.

As the wall of dust followed the cone blast of air, Gaku used this opportunity to dash backward away from the area he was standing on, 12 metres to be precise. In this position, he crouched down and looked at the wound on his abdomen. He began to apply pressure with the use of his shirt, trying to seal the wound and prevent further bleeding out. He tilted his head up, whilst maintaining the crouch, looking ahead to see what would occur next.

When Sora came through the dust cloud that his clone created he found himself basically in the same position he had tried to get out of. He couldn't see his teammate thanks to a wall of paper, and the the paper clone was still in action. Oh, and the Third Hokage was airborne now too, so it was that much harder to get to him.

Sora would have sighed in despair at this situation but he didn't have time to. The paper clone launched a cloud of paper at him directly. Sora couldn't tell if it was a distraction or an attack. It was moving slowly enough that if he was farther away he could dodge it but that wasn't the case. Being in so close was pretty dangerous. Just as the paper was about to make contact he used "Kawarimi no Jutsu" to switch places with his clone and Sora's wind clone was promptly bound by the technique.

A binding technique, that switch was a good call. he thought to himself.

Sora reevaluated his situation. He still didn't know how Gaku, or Norio and Orion were, he was ten meters away from Jiyuu's paper clone, and Jiyuu himself was in the air, giving him the extreme tactical advantage. The training in him told him to retreat temporarily and to make a plan of attack. Sora couldn't do that though, as his teammates wouldn't be able to retreat with him and he wasn't going to abandon them.

Sora released his clone as quickly as he could, the paper binding around it fell to the ground harmlessly. Sora drew a kuni and an explosive note from his satchel then used "Shunshin no Jutsu" to close the ten meter distance with the paper clone, a puff of white smoke acting as a slight distraction.

Sora would try to use the momentum from the Shunshin to give him a boost in his next attack, a slash directed at the paper clones side with the kuni. His attack combined with the momentum from the Shunsin would place him just behind the clone. Sora then threw the explosive tag at the clones center and detonated it when it made contact. While Sora was doing this he noted that he was only a meter and a half away from the clone. He noted that this was pretty close to the blast of his note. No risk, no reward. he told himself.

The blast knocked Sora back a few meters. His cloths were a little singed but he was no worse for ware. There was a debris cloud from the explosion and Sora couldn't tell if his tactic had worked. He got up as fast as his body would allow him and prepped handseals incase it didn't/

Special: Switch is near-instantaneous. Kawarimi can only be used once per thread, plus one more each time retrained. However, the technique itself can only be used once per turn, regardless of retraining. Requires the user to switch with objects equal or smaller in size; cannot switch with other living people or animals.
Description: This jutsu lets the user quickly switch places with another nearby object, such as a plant (normally a section of a log), an animal, the moment an attack hits. This creates an optical illusion, making the enemy think the attack was successful. The user can then use this confusion to escape or launch a counter-attack - i.e. exploding tags can be attached to the replacement for an added surprise.

Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique)

Special: Despite popular belief, this is not an ability that allows an individual to teleport, or even move incomprehensibly fast. It simply combines high mobility with some disruption of visibility to conceal those movements. That in mind, if you can conceal your movement, it is common for this technique to allow very long-distance dashes before enemies may notice you.
Description: Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic ninjutsu technique used across the shinobi world by all, ranging from the most basic shinobi to the legends of lore. Considered is a high-speed movement technique - to an observer caught in the optical illusion, it appears as if the user has teleported. This allows the user to escape or attack suddenly, should they need to. However, while a high-speed movement, if used in broad daylight, one will still be quite visible and as such, easier to be defended against. In order to achieve maximum effect, the user must to combine it with a distraction.

Sorry for the wait, had a very busy last few days. Short post to wrap things up.

Jiyuu, with but a mental command, ordered the clones to dissipate. The battle was over, and the shinobi had proved themselves to be quite capable, hence he found it justifiable to take them on a slightly more dangerous mission. Two sheets of paper fluttered forth from his hands to the two shinobi.

”Write your identification number and I will request a mission for us to take.”

The dust cloud began to clear. Gaku prepared for the inevitable. His right hand remained pressuring the wound down with the cloth of his shirt, his left hand at the ready to flick out a senbon at any incoming attack. The ability level of the Jounin-instructor had been too much for him to handle. This was the power he aspired to grasp. His personal eagerness now to work under this man and develop into a stronger ninja was on the rise. Gaku would attempt to learn all he could.

The dust faded and the area in front of him was visible again. Before him, though, was a pile of paper. Was this a trick? Was the Jounin-instructor trying to lure him in and then catch him off guard with an attack? Gaku wasn't too sure. However, this concern was soon cleared up. A single piece of paper dropped down at Gaku's front. Listening to the words that were spoken out to him, Gaku released his right hand off the wound and removed an inked pen from his pocket. He jotted down the details that were asked of him. Walking the paper back to the Jounin-instructor, Gaku nodded once to the man before turning on his heel.

Although not really 'dismissed', Gaku assumed that training was over for the day. For now, he would retire back at his home and attempt to prepare his flesh-wound for the healing process. It was nothing too severe, which was a good thing. Now he would still be able to participate on a mission that his instructor took the team on. Finally, he would be able to gain some experience of the real ninja world.

Sora had been waiting for the smoke from his bomb to clear, when the piece of paper hit him in the face. It wasn't an attack which was what surprised him the most.

Jiyuu, instructed both him a Gaku to write their information down. "So I guess that means we passed." He thought to himself. Sora did as was instructed and returned the slip of paper back to Jiyuu, who was now his instructor. Sora gave a respectful nod to his new master then left back towards the center of the village, still a little confused by what had happened today. To think that he had just come out here for a walk.
