Sayuri leaned up against the side of the Academy, waiting for her apparent partner in this rather simple mission. Why the need for two ninja to complete this was beyond her, but if she had to take a guess it was for the versatility that it would provide hearing stories from two opposite sides. Thankfully for her, when she was in the Academy, she had already been a bit older than the usual child. In that time she read book upon book and studied as much as she could to know about the ninja world and what was out there.
Of course, nothing could really prepare anyone while in the Academy for what the world had. That first mission would always be the toughest. The first failure would always be the most miserable. The first death that you had to witness would be the first scar of many that would eventually follow. It was a hard life and a hard profession, but even in times of peace such people were necessary. Without them than the villages would have no protection and have no way of remaining a national power.
Heh, thinking back to those days make it seem like it was so long ago, even though it was only recently that I was even able to graduate and officially become a kunoichi…
Brief flashes of the day she had finally received her Konoha headband flooded her mind. Both of her parents, her father especially were crying, as she was as well. Finally someone from the Kurama clan, a forgotten nobility of the Hidden Leaf had made it into the shinobi world once more. Though it was a lot of weight that she had to singularly bare on her shoulders, that was okay to her. As long as it meant that her clan’s name would be put into the spotlight once more.
The sound of footfall quickly pulled her from her thoughts however. A smile was placed on her face as she pushed off the wall to greet the person who was supposed to be her partner. After all, better to be friendly with them so that the children didn’t get the wrong idea. Your comrades were important as well as teamwork and understanding along with synchronization to fully make use of each other’s abilities.
It all sounded good at least until she saw exactly who her partner was. It was the whiny, scaredy-cat boy from the mission from the other day. The thoughts of all the Genjutsu like attacks that they had endured in that House were haunting, and though it took all she had to push those memories from her brain, seeing this boy, who was so rude to never actually introduce himself, only brought them back.
“I assume you’re doing well after…” she trailed off, having to shake one of the various memories. “…last time? Because, we need to teach these kids that being a shinobi is important and valued. Come on.”
And with that the Kurama turned to head inside without so much as another word to her companion.
