While my savage ferocity had always played in the favor of my niche in battle (taijutsu), I wasn't beyond admitting the sheer size of my body always contributed a large portion to my success. I was unnaturally tall, and because of that, my reach was nearly double that of your average fully matured man. Women, being generally being the smaller creatures, were entirely dwarfed by my giant-esque frame. In moments like this, my utterly unfair advantage shone through the darkness like a pulsing jewel of magnificent light. Blanche's fist reared back, yet before it was even mid-way in its travel, I would have been upon her.

No longer able to sustain the ascended form of the Yonbi's chakra, four tails exploded from my back as the "sheath" of light shattered around my body, revealing my true form beneath it. My right arm launched forward with a blinding speed, iron fingers seeking to dig into Blanche's throat and rip her clean from the ground she so weakly managed to stand upon. Having dipped my shoulder, with my body following, her fist would simply sling over my and behind me, missing whatever she hoped to strike entirely.

With all the force my cloak and body could muster (gate 5), I'd slam her flat against the ground. But, I wasn't finished. I'd continue to push her through the earth as my powerful strides would propelled the both of us forth, hoping to dig a trench with her body much like she was a shovel. It would surely feel like an eternity of brutalizing hell for the Kusakage, all the way up to the point where she greeted the massive boulder several meters behind her. Head first, I'd ram her through the structure, causing it to literally explode from the force erupting from within her body.

Even with her healing factor in play, there was little she would be able to do to neutralize the amount of damage she would've sustained (when coupled with the previous damage) in those dire moments. As the dust settled, I waited, looking for any sign of my victim.

His hands wrapped around my neck, and my eyes widened.

To begin with, time went by so quickly from the moment that my fist had not managed to collide with him, and where in return, his own hand collided with my neck much too fast. I choked- soft, pink lips gasping for breath beneath his claw of a hand. Despite the fact that my body was bruised and cut from previous attacks, my blonde hair flew brilliantly alongside my body as I saw the sky and the sand all mould in to one around me. It was quite beautiful, despite the disturbing nature of the entire situation. His hand grew tighter and tighter, and for a moment I wondered if he was ever going to let go, my own right hand rising up only to touch his own powered with nothing but the will to live, sharp talons to dig in to the flesh of his hands. Fortunately for him, I wasn’t capable of doing that much damage at the moment, and the very second that my head collided with the ground, my hand loosened somewhat, but still clung to his own.

Everything became hazy as I felt myself succumbing to the red-hot pain.

..No.

I couldn’t give in to it. I was a medic. Primarily my duty was the heal people but secondarily? To stay alive. I had so much to do, and although even now through what trance-like state I’d endeavoured in to I could see the soft forms of those who I loved most surrounding me as my body yielded the excruciating pain the Mizukage put me through, I clung on to life. I wouldn’t die, not now. Not beneath his hands. I recalled several moments in my life where I’d been close to death- One I’d just barely managed to escape with my own, at the cost of ultimately parting with the only person who had mattered at that point. But I’d survived. I’d lived this far, only to let him ground me down? I couldn’t deny the damage that was being done to me at the moment but I refused to leave. It was a meagre attempt as I focused my entire mind on healing the damage that was to come, but it planted the small seed that could potentially save my life. I didn’t fear death. I looked forward to finally reuniting with my family one day. But this wasn’t the time.

My form collided with something- From the sheer power behind it I could only guess that it was a solid- a rock, undoubtedly. I couldn’t tell as my vision was focused on the fiery man who had driven me to this state, and even then I could only make out the shape of his form, my blue eyes standing out considerably past the blood on my countenance. I still looked as if I’d fallen from heaven- but moreso an angel who’d fallen from heaven head first in to a nasty pit of rocks. Everything hurt and the chakra which frantically tried to repair my body kept weaving through to heal what it could at the strength that I could gather to do so, although my condition was severely deteriorated from the blow. I couldn’t move. As I briefly shifted my arm in an attempt to simply move, unbearable pain shot through my body in its entirety, my pupils constricting and my form disabled by the crippling feeling. The rock having undoubtedly smashed on impact, I’d by now been embedded somewhat in to it, long trails of beautiful blonde hair cascading over the feature. As for my left hand- it unfurled once more, finally releasing grip of the sword as I simply couldn't muster the strength as it now landed on the jagged rocks below. Gods weeped beneath the very sight, my blood again staining the surrounding area. By now, the usual lively glow to my body had dramatically turned to a deathly pale.

My energy purely focused on bringing me back, I simply watched him from my position, blue, haunting eyes not leaving their locked gaze as I stood motionless.

I was pleasantly surprised she was even still breathing. She'd gone through hell and back, yet she was still alive. Her will rivaled my own, and for that, I couldn't bring myself to kill her. I hadn't wanted things to go this far, but she'd left me no other option. When you back a wolf into a corner, they bare their fangs -- when you back a tiger into a corner, they strike.

"You fought well, Blanche." The Yonbi's aura was still as potent as ever, all four tails whipping about my body like sentient tendrils. I could see her repairing methods already underway, but the damage she'd received would take much longer than a few moments to erase.

I stepped closer, kneeling down to her. "You are bold, and more powerful than I ever imagined. You will be a splendid Kage for your people." My fingers wrapped around her ankle, feeding some of the Yonbi's chakra into her body (1 High). It would be more than enough to jump start her healing proficiency to another level, ensuring she wouldn't pass from this life. Not yet, anyway.

Releasing her, I looked about the scenery for my prize. Samehada was only a handful of feet from where Blanche laid, still and lifeless. I whistled, stirring it to action. I'd let the beast taste my chakra for one reason only - to acquaint it to its new master at the end of our fight. The beast, happy to serve its new master, slithered in my direction, all but whipping its handle into my grasp. I could feel myself revitalized, reimbursed with the chakra it had so greedily devoured.

My attention drifted back to Blanche. "Whenever you are ready to reclaim Samehada, I will not deny you your rematch."

It hurt even to just speak, as showed from the spurt of blood which erupted from my throat, revealing itself so softly through the corners of my mouth. As I re-arranged my healing slightly, focusing somewhat more on my throat and neck, which had been dealt a good deal of damage from the collision with the rock, I attempted to re-tune my speaking skills as his form and its fiery tails flickered before me, centralized in my vision. Although my mind still rested in a thick haze from the damage I’d suffered, the very effects of the healing having poisoned my mind enough to make me almost feel dizzy, not alleviating the pain at all, but instead causing my mind to drift elsewhere. To Kusagakure- my home, back to the small plot where I’d buried the soft white form who so persistently clung to my right. Painfully tilting my head towards what Akira would have perceived to be thin air, I simply hoped that I was recognizable in this state. I could hear the man speak, although as I breathed such shallow breaths, I couldn’t bring myself to respond to them as well as I’d hoped. Even at this time- when even now my chest hurt each time I merely breathed, I found myself not elated, but- stuck in a temporary state of nothingness. No anger, nothing. As much as it hurt to move, shifting my head away from the faint glow to my right, I turned to look at Akira once more as he continued to speak, praising me on the opposition that I’d shown towards him.

I was.. to say the least, unsure of why he hadn’t killed me on the spot.

"..T-Tha..hn.."


I couldn't finish, but it was decipherable enough.

In a hallucinatory state, I kept my eyes the best I could on him as everything burned before my very eyes, bathed in a fire created from the flames of his own body- Only for them to part and for the area to return to normal once more. The left side of my face twitched softly in response to this, before I then tried to move my body from the rock I’d been rammed in to, only for another wave of pain to hit my body like an unwelcome shockwave. Narrowing my eyes softly, I’d then keep shifting until my head finally moved forwards and away from the back of the rock, allowing myself to get a clearer view of the man at the cost of my own health. I wouldn’t die from it- It was merely.. painful. And from what I could see now, I watched him as he moved, my eyes now appearing drowsy beneath it all as I expected him to draw out another fist and break my skull through the rock beneath me, but no-

Chakra poured in to my system, my body instantly taking control of it, and using it to aid the healing process. I looked more drained than anything- but at the same time, perplexed.

".I-I'- I'm guess..ing;.."

Nonetheless, I forced the same cheeky grin I’d displayed several times before our ill fated battle within Mizu no kuni to my face.



”..I-..” a pause, as I took in a breath. ”..can’t b-become one of y..your .. swordsmen, then?”

It was unimaginable how anyone could bring such a mischievous and playful comment to this situation- but I was clearly joking with the tone I’d used just in case he took me seriously, even if my tone was struggled.

Past the anger- Past the rage and the wrath that had corrupted me from the very start, a small part of me believed that Akira, the Yondaime Mizukage, had earned his sword.

Samehada writhed in my grip as it began to synchronize our chakra, establishing the foreign source of nutrients to its insatiable hunger. I was impressed that the relic retrained so much power within its figure, falling silent as I allowed myself to become familiar with the presence that was now nothing more than an extension of myself. It was odd, to say the least.

The remnants of my 'cloak' evaporated in a fine mist of steam and light. I looked far more "stable," even doused in blood as I was, and my eyes more appreciative of the broken and fragile body in front of me.

"Maybe." It was good to see that, even in the wake of such an atrocious fight, she managed to retain her humor. "Presuming you ever defect from your beloved Kusagakure, we'll talk." I teased.

I stood to my feet, glancing off to the horizon. The real fighting still hadn't begun. "You should be safe to rest here, Blanche." I turned and made my way back to Hebi, still lodged in the boulder I'd sent her into. Gripping her in my opposite hand, I paused. "I'll make sure none come to bother you."

Although I watched on through hazed eyes, I could clearly see Samehada in his grasp. But it wasn’t the concept that made me writhe in pain next, but instead- the fact that suddenly, everything felt more real. My mouth moved, opening as if to emit some kind of cry- but nothing came, I unable to change the expression that had been painted on me as I felt Samehada’s chakra support which I’d used for so many years now, begin to leave my system. From losing connection with the blade I could, perhaps for the first time in years feel my chakra system depleting as I healed myself, each moment passing by with a new level of insufferable pain. While only moments ago I’d been able to push past such boundaries with so much attitude, now, even with Akira’s gift of chakra to aid my system in repairing itself, I found it harder and harder to keep myself conscious, the man’s words audible enough, but at the same time- so scrambled. And my head- the ache began to set in again as I tilted my head back, my body coming to terms with the amount of chakra I’d used during the battle. As the same droplets of sweat remained on my brow and my skin still looking pale, drained, although my chakra system worked so hard to upkeep the medical technique, and in such a way- it did- exhaustion started to overcome me and I felt my eyes closing slowly but surely, my right hand physically grasping on to anything it could find without moving too much, in hope that I keep conscious.

"I'll make sure none come to bother you."

I could only barely make his words out now, my eyes only allowing me to see the sky above in a mundane blur of blue, and I couldn’t quite wrap my mind around anything. It would take a while for my body to heal to the best of my ability- and even then, it wouldn’t be enough. But at the same time, I couldn’t bear to see myself in the wards of the Kusagakure hospital. Pushing myself to heal in fear of returning to Kusagakure and being hospitalized for the remaining damage, I disregarded everything, concentrating solely on restoring myself. Coughing one final splurt of blood which softly rolled down my chin and on to my neck, my body having gained some colour from healing but it looked more flushed than anything now, from the corner of my eye I paid one more look to the more glistening of Samehada in the sunlight, before dropping my head again as each movement I made became heavy.

And then I could feel it- my mind drifting further out to nothingness than it previously had.

The sky turned dark as black slowly enveloped my vision.
..Or was I subconsciously closing my eyes?

I couldn’t tell. But it was t-



”……”

Her limbs grew limp beneath the agonizing pain she’d been subjected to, her eyes closed. The only thing showing that she was alive being the gentle rising and falling of her chest as she breathed.

The Kusakage was gone.

I stood there for several moments after she blacked out, casually watching. Even from that distance, I could see her breathing, which was all I needed in order to know that she would live. "Until next time," I said aimlessly, making my way off toward the main island(s).

The sun shone down on a body; long trellises of blonde hair curled softly by the sea air. With th-

I awoke- pain overcoming my entire body as I jolted awake, coughing a single time before my body relaxed and my head softly fell back on the piece of rock behind me. I gazed at the sky- I – must have been out for quite a while. Opening and closing my right hand, I felt the slightest amount of pain, my fingers doused in blood and sand. Looking around, I couldn’t see no-one. He’d gone. Wait- had that even happened? As I gazed around me, unsure what to think of the current situation, rabidly trying to find any sign of life around me from anything or my blade, I saw neither, trees ripped from their roots and rocks hurdled all over the place unnaturally from the attack which I could loosely remember throwing at him. The pain in my head suddenly becoming very clear, I’d wince, my right hand slowly rising and cupping it as I began to consider taking off from the island. Lowering my hand, in one great push I’d move myself off the rock, my balance skewed as I almost fell back on to the sands which had by now cooled quite considerably. Exhaling, I’d then look down at myself- My clothing had been ruined, rips and tears cutting through layers and revealing my tarnished skin, which for the majority of the case had been healed, but still showed the layer of dried blood that I’d lost. And I stood there, only for a few minutes, trying to recall the entire thing. I could remember being punched- such fiery flames enveloping the Mizukage and finally- black. It would all come back to me soon enough but as for now; I needed to get going.

I was quite relieved that I’d managed to heal the bleeding wounds that I’d had and any internal bleeding I could decipher which had caused problems for me, but everything else- it burned. Each step I took across the sands took considerable effort and I felt my chest wheezing as I did so, but I continued. I had so many things to do- I had to get back to the village, fill out the remaining paperwo-

”…Fuck!”

The memory returned to me so quickly- The Raikage- I was due for a meeting with him in what could potentially be a hour or two. Cursing beneath my breath once more, I’d then begin to set off for the mainland, my pace decent, but at the same time, softly limped. Chakra in my step, I’d travel across the sea with the same vigor as I’d shown previously, towards anywhere where I could catch a boat to Kumo no Kuni. Exhaling loudly as I moved, I’d try to speed up my pace to the best of my ability, the only consequence being the burning sensation. I shrugged it off.
