The victim was far beyond the point of even having a chance at life now. The infection spread with a single bite, and even if it didn't, the extensive clawing and biting that his attacker had issued rendered the man condemned to death. There was simply too much bleeding, too much injuries, to even consider a chance of surviving. The man, in shock, would need to be put down. So the Jounin drew his blade, and began his own assault.

He dispatched the deadliest of the two first, the creature that was attacking the homeless and shrieking as it did so, swinging claws and baring its cracked teeth. When the moonlight shun on the side of the half-masked Jounin's katana, however, it would react to the presence of the shinobi. it raised an arm and managed to get the katana jammed deep into its bone, trying to grab the shinobi with its free hand as they faced off.

With a grunt of displeasure, the Jounin pushed down roughly on the hilt of his katana, forcing the blade through the bone and slicing the creature's arm off. Then, without hesitation, he swiftly moved into his next offensive attack. He issued an upwards slash, slicing along the creature's torso and causing a waterfall of entrails to fall. The creature lunged for him then, claw outstretched. It hadn't felt a thing, it simply wanted to feed on more flesh.

The shinobi of Kumogakure no Sato, however, wouldn't give him that pleasure. He back away, simultaneously raising his now bloodied katana blade, and sliced the creature's entire body in two. This action, of course, began from the tip of the creature's ugly mug, and ended between its legs. The monster had been immediately killed, and its halves dropped to the ground with a hollow 'thump'. A pool of blood covered the asphalt.

With the attacker effectively dispatched, all that was left to deal with was the now infected victim. He was near the point of death, and could not be revived, so the half-masked Jounin didn't feel particularly bad about dispatching this individual. He was sad. Sad that it had come to this, to the death of more people, but unperturbed by the fact that he would be the one to end this one's life. Or at least, finish what the creature started.

So he raised his katana blade, silver steel contrasted against the dark night sky, a gleam of moonlight bouncing off its side beautifully as he held it up there for a moment. His hand gripped around the handle, his eyes focused on the victim's head, blood dripping from his chin with rhythmic precision. Then, he struck. His katana swooped down, taking a sideways slash, and cutting the man's head in two halves. He'd stop then, pause to think.

When he got over whatever was plaguing his mind, the red-maned Jounin would radio in for a "clean-up" crew. He gave them the address, and they would give him another lead in return. A house was on fire nearby, and they suspected it had something to do with the creatures he was hunting down.

Although they had already sent a small squad of shinobi towards the scene, it wanted to be sure that the situation was dealt with completely. The shinobi that they had sent weren't exactly the epitome of reliable, and they also feared the worst for their safety. So, the man with the red-mane would sigh, and continue on to the address specified. Time to kill more of them.

He decided, considering the severity of the situation at hand, that he would scale the sides of one of Kumogakure no Sato's apartment complexes, and then promptly begin his approach via the rooftops of his beloved village. After climbing all those stories, he would end up high in the air, which provided him with a clear vantage point of the fire raging afar. The dark smoke turned near invisible against the tapestry of night sky.

He hastened the pace of his approach, black boots providing him with safe landings as he leaped and promptly landed on the surface of the rooftops, his coat tail flowing behind him carelessly. Within seconds, he was only a block away from the fire that was ravaging the interior of a different apartment complex. He didn't hear any screaming though. Which was strange.

So he silently observed for the time being, perched upon the edge of the rooftop across the street from the apartment building, noticing the three-man cell below. It was one of Kumogakure no Sato's Chuunin squads, fresh, from the looks of it. They seemed to be inspecting the apartment building for survivors, but it didn't look like they were having any luck.

Then, without warning, an explosion shook the very earth. The top floor of the apartment building burst with flames, its windows acting as flamethrowers, and what sounded like the floor itself collapsed within the building. Just then, the doors to the apartment building on the ground floor burst open. There were several wooden doors lined up on that side of the apartment building, and each of them spewed what seemed to be running fire totems. They were really, however, human bodies on fire.

The Chuunin squad below seemed startled by this new revelation, and a few of them even attempted to help the burning victims. One of them, a suiton user, issued a set of hand seals and gently doused one of them with a blob of water retrieved from a nearby sewer hole. The others, startled as the running fires approached, just tried to keep away from these obviously doomed victims. Only that suiton user would find out what it was all about.

The man he had doused with water fell to the ground when the liquid hit him, and his smoking limbs struggled to lift him up as he recovered. But, when said person caught sight of the Chuunin and began to growl, he finally managed to get up on both feet and continue. As if he were enraged.

Howling with a guttural and awful scream, the smoking carcass ran towards the shocked, suiton-using, Chuunin. With the kid immobilized with fear and confusion, the creature managed to leap onto him and dig its hot teeth into the flesh formed around the human's neck. Blood sprayed in the air, as the Chuunin whimpered under the agonizing and terrible pain.

When the other two noticed the demise of their comrade, they quickly exploded into action. Countering the flaming cannibals that ran towards them, they struggled to maintain their composure. One of them started throwing kunai, aiming for the chest and arms, but not getting any results. The other, a Hyuuga, attempted to poke them excessively.

He leaped down from the rooftop, intent on helping the last two of the squad that had been sent to correct this situation. They obviously did not know what they were doing, and were only getting themselves killed for it- like their suiton-using comrade. But, much to his dismay, more flaming cannibals came running out of the apartment complex. He could not help his Kumogakure no Sato comrades out now. Not with the outbreak.

So he landed, like an cat, safely on the ground below. With the Hyuuga Chuunin and his companion busy fighting their attackers, all the Jounin could do was warn them vocally, as a group of flaming creatures ran towards him with the intent to feed. "The head!" He growled, drawing his katana. "Go for the head! That's how you kill them, nimrods!"

He dispatched the first few flaming cannibals that came his way easily, swinging his katana with such ease that he had enough time to turn towards the others afterwards, and check on their progress. They had, it seemed, taken his advice- and they were doing wonderfully, for it. Now acting as a three-man anti-cannibal squad, they were knocking out the creature's left and right. Their numbers were staggering, and very relentless.

As they continued to fight off these abominations, and as the red-maned Jounin continued to swing his katana, things seemed to be getting more and more dire by the second. Children started coming out of that hellhole of an apartment complex, covered with flames and the same insatiable hunger for flesh. The Hyuuga was killed, his hand accidentally caught between the jaws of one of them, his fingers mauled off horribly as he screamed.

The moon remained silently in the sky, its beautiful white brilliance shining down on the gore below. As if it were watching, with sadness, at what was happening. Rays of white bounced off the Kumogakure no Sato headband tied around the suiton-user's head, his eyes opened and rolled back in their sockets, as his body shook violently. The cannibalistic creature that was feeding on his entrails was deep in the carcass now, digging for more.

The half-masked, red-maned Jounin that fought the good fight continued his ruthless assault with his katana, slicing down the various flaming bodies that came running towards him. Besides the young Chuunin recruit, and the Hyuuga laughing hysterically as he rolled around on the ground and clutched at his now fingerless right hand, things were not looking that good.

The Jounin would slice one of the creature's head in two halves, and then would immediately leap backwards, preparing a long set of hand seals. "Cover me!" He'd yell to the only other healthy shinobi, aware that he was currently trying to fend off a few of the cannibalistic creatures from his Hyuuga companion. "Leave him! There's nothing more we can do for him! But I can end this, now! Just get over here, and cover me!"

Unaware, and unsure, and completely frightened, the Chuunin adhered by his request. He left his injured and condemned Hyuuga comrade to the cannibals, who quickly dove in and feasted on the flesh. And, now, the red-maned Jounin stood a chance of finishing the hand seals required for his final technique. With the chakra charging deep within him, he knew he had to take the entire apartment building down, in order to end this.

So he did just that. Lightning dragon!

Chapter Nine

Cannibal Times

description; Ever seen a zombie movie? You know how they never really die? Well they have nothing on the undead force your gonna be facing. 40 strong and not very capable, in fact they’re completely unarmored and only have their creepishly long nails and teeth to bring you down. The kicker is that they regenerate and an incredible rate. Somehow whenever a limb is cut off, it just climbs back onto the body and reattaches itself, almost any injury we’ve inflicted so far has remedied itself in the blink of an eye. Good luck against the Horde.

A dragon composed entirely of lightning pierced the night sky, its form blotting out the moon with sparks of intense blue, as it shot towards the flaming apartment complex before it. Upon crashing through an open window, and reaching the interior of the apartment complex, the mystical creature exploded into a cacophony of lightning and thunder. The building had been, effectively, destroyed- crashing in on itself chaotically.

The red-maned Jounin that had caused this explosion smiled. He had just destroyed a hive of cannibalistic, flaming monsters. But he knew there were still more out there, in the neighborhoods of Kumogakure no Sato, and they were probably filling up hives just like this one. Forming small predatory herds, that could overwhelm a populated place such as this one easily. Knowing this, he realized he needed to eliminate them before daybreak.

With the apartment building destroyed, and it having crushed all the cannibals that might have been within it, it was now just a heap of rock and fire that belched out black smoke into the air. But now, the Jounin and his Chuunin comrade needed to deal with the ones that had escaped. There were still a handful of them, out here in the streets with them, and they were hungry. So, without a doubt in his mind, he would begin to eliminate them.

The katana he had dropped previously was suddenly picked up, as the first of the cannibals came running towards him. He narrowly avoided a vertical slash, before striking with his own weapon and severing the creature's head. Right when he heard the distinct 'thump', that signaled that the snarling and flaming head had hit the asphalt, he stabbed it through the eye.

There must have been seven of those flaming cannibals remaining, and four of them were directed towards the half-masked Jounin. They ran in unison, some them stumbling, as they roared with their guttural growls and extended their claws- as if they could stretch and tear off chunks of flesh from afar. The red-maned Jounin of Kumogakure no Sato, however, stood his ground.

With a flurry of slashes, swipes, and stabs, he began to dispatch this disgusting handful of four, the moonlight bouncing off his blade as he moved it to and fro. He cut arms off, he dropped to swift crouches and severed legs, but always- he would end these attacks with finishing blows to the head. Or, to be specific, the brain. Within a matter of seconds, each and every cannibal that had been attacking him had received severe puncture wounds (or worse) to their brain. This gory night fight was over.

Drawing in big gulps of breath, having exhausted himself with a rigorous display of counter-maneuvers and offensive attacks, the half-masked Jounin would turn to his Chuunin companion. Apparently, he too had managed to garner success. His method, however, involved a display of ninjutsu. The cannibals that had attempted to eat him were now charred corpses on the asphalt. the distinct sight of needles sticking out of their forms.

"Good job." The Jounin would say, sheathing his katana blade after having wiped it with a napkin he'd drawn from his front pocket- and promptly tossed onto one of the corpses when he was done with it. "I'm sorry about the death of your teammates... but I'm going to make sure nobody else suffers the same fate. You can trust me." With that, he grabbed his radio.

He switched the radio on, and promptly called in for the "clean-up" crew once more. They couldn't risk allowing any civilian to enter this scene and tamper with the corpses. They couldn't risk allowing the disease that these undead creatures were cursed with to spread. But, when the mission compound responded to his call, and informed him on another incident not too far from where he was, he needed to go. There was no exception.

"Hey," He said, surprisingly managing to catch the Chunnin's attention, considering the fact that he had been staring blankly at the corpses for a couple of minutes now. "I need you to stay here and keep the perimeter. Don't let any civilians around here, okay? This is very important." Pocketing his radio, he continued. "Back-up is already on its way."

Having left the scene to the responsibility of the Chuunin, and not feeling too good about doing so (considering his shocked state of mind), the half-masked male leapt towards an adjacent building and scaled its side. He was headed towards the next lead now, determined on getting there as fast as possible. If he let these creatures survive until daybreak, things were going to get hairy when people started coming out of their homes.

As an idea came to mind, he reached back into his pocket for the radio and switched it to a different frequency as he ran along the edges of the rooftops. He placed the radio to his ear as he leaped, speaking into the communication device without difficulty. He was, after all, used to running and talking all the time. "Javelin-01, this is Ram. Identification code: Bravo-Whiskey-Seven-Niner-Three. Requesting intel relevant to the 'Saigon Incident'."

"Roger that, Ram. Inquiry?"

His contacts at the ANBU had come in handy, on more than occasion, and he was glad that he had taken up the job all those months ago. It was definitely a leap in his career as a shinobi. With the operator on the other end of the radio waiting on his response, the half-masked Jounin replied. "I need to know whether Subject 'Greenvile' had been completed. As I understand it, we've given the R and D team sufficient time to come up with a prototype." Running, he leaped over an alleyway.

"Correct. A prototype has been concocted."

Landing, the red-maned ANBU agent continued his trek. "Great. I'm going to need one ASAP. On the corner of Yuriko and Shishisabuya. We've got an outbreak, and I believe I've found their den." He approached the border between downtown Kumogakure no Sato and the warehouse districts, forced to leap down to street-level below.

"Roger that, Ram. We'll send an agent now."

Having gotten what he needed from the ANBU, the half-masked Jounin picked up the pace. This was going to be it, the end of the undead creatures that had plagued Kumogakure no Sato since the first few days of his shinobi career. With this plan of his, he was determined to lay waste to the blemish that tainted this land and, thanks to his ANBU contacts, that was possible.

The night sky, covered with waves of dark clouds, temporarily shielded the moon from sight for a moment. The moonlight, however, continued to illuminate the surrounding scenery with a pale white glow. As the half-masked shinobi approached the site of his pick-up, he'd keep his vigilant eyes peeled for any sign of the creatures he was looking for in the vicinity. He traveled along street-level still, quietly and covertly sticking to the shadows as he did so. The ANBU agent he waited for would be here soon.

The package had been delivered on time, as he had expected, and now he could proceed with preparing his trap for the cannibals he intended to erase from existence. With only a couple of hours before daybreak, he needed to act fast. So, without a moment to waste, he leapt back onto the rooftops of his village and sped towards the closest butcher shop. The first item he required could be found there. Though he'd have to pay for it out of pocket.

He reached the butcher shop within a matter of minutes, and ascended the stairs that led to the small apartment above the establishment. Knocking on the door, he would wake up the owner of this business and demand he sell him a fresh piece of skinned meat. Large enough to attract predators, but light enough to carry on his back- wrapped in paper and plastic.

When the purchase was processed, rather annoyingly on the butcher's part, the Jounin strapped the large piece of meat to his back, pocketed a length of rope, and made a beeline for the factory district once more. He realized that he only had the luxury of a few more hours, but he had hope that such a brief time limit would still give him time to execute what he had planned- thoroughly. If not, he would have a long day ahead of him.

Upon reaching the factory building that was rumored to contain those cannibalistic freaks he was hunting down, the half-masked ANBU agent would take an explosive leap onto its rooftop. He landed, barely- thanks to the weight of the meat he was carrying- and proceeded to finding an entry point aboveground. Upon finding an open window, large and square-shaped, he'd kneel beside it and start with the execution of his plan.

He tied the rope firmly around the slab of meat he had purchased, ensuring that it would break or snap once he let the meat hang. All the while, he could hear the moans coming from within the ruined factory, the creatures ambling around. Next, he retrieved the flask of 'Greenvile' given to him by his ANBU contact previously. He soaked the meat with the liquid.

Ensuring that the other end of the rope was tied firmly to a nearby pipe sticking out from the factory's rooftop, the red-maned Jounin would then proceed to lowering the slab of drenched meat down. He did so, knelt beside the large open window, his eyes fixed on the meat as it descended into the half opaque darkness. When he felt it was enough, he stopped.

The chorus of moans down below suddenly grew more intense, a cacophony of despair and gore, all the cannibals that resided down there reaching for the drenched meat they could not attain. But the red-maned ANBU agent made sure that they never would. The meat had been tied firmly, and was out of their reach. That, however, wouldn't stop them from trying. Now, he just needed the others to catch the scent.

They traveled in small groups and, knowing that they followed their comrades, it was entirely plausible that the aroma from the specially designed 'Greenvile' would attract all of them within a matter of time. Or, at least, all that had been turned since the creature's recent revival Kumogakure no Sato. He couldn't just play the waiting game, however. Not when he was being timed. So, without a single pause, he put himself in action.

The factory district of Kumogakure no Sato was ripe with the sound of moaning now. The 'Greenvile' that he had exposed to the air was attracting them all, bringing them into this epicenter of darkness and death. And the half-masked, red-maned ANBU agent would not have had it any other way. He was going to take out these bastards in one fell swoop, and ensure that none survived. But to do that, he would have to at least try luring them.

So, dropping down from the factory rooftop high above, he would land onto street-level safely and firmly below. The factory district streets below were completely empty, void of any human presence, save for the Jounin. But the undead... the undead were rampant. It was hard to believe that, within the hours of the monster's escape from the crypt, it had gotten this bad. But now that it had, it was the shinobi's duty to handle the dire situation.

When the cannibals came running towards him, he was ready to strike back. Forming a quick set of hand seals, he unleashed a terrifying array of chain lightning, and quickly dispatched the first handfuls of freaks that came his way. Then, when he felt it was necessary, he drew his katana and started chopping their heads in half. Without a doubt, he had captured their attention. Now, he would have to take full advantage of it.

He ran around the factory, with the waves of undead following closely behind him. Headed for the doors, he would kick them open and off their hinges, systemically doing the same for the rest of the doors. When the waves of undead that had been following him, finally caught up, he quickly sped into the monster-filled factory. It was time for his getaway.

He ran into the factory, swerving past and evading all the undead that resided within it, headed towards the epicenter to worship that slab of meat that hung up in the sky. And, while the majority of them were distracted, he began to hop from wooden crate to wooden crate- each hop taking him higher and higher. Before he reached the top, however, he stopped and turned back- checking if the ghouls that he'd taunted had indeed followed.

They had, thankfully, fallen for the trap. So, knowing that the others would arrive shortly, he climbed up into the same window he had been peering down from previously. With the intense sound of all that moaning and growling, he was sure that the other cannibals in the vicinity were hearing exactly what he wanted them to hear. For some reason, they had all gathered here previously. Now, it would condemn them to their doom.

He waited on the rooftop of the factory for about an hour, letting all those ghouls that had not arrived yet to come. Throughout it all, he tried to ignore the near maddening groaning. It could drive a man mad, and he knew it. He'd seen it with his own eyes. But, when the red-maned ANBU agent finally grew tired of it, he peered down into the factory and gazed upon the massive crowd of undead within. There were so many, and it was so loud.

Satisfied with the sheer number of undead he had cooped up down there, the Jounin would stand up and roll his shoulders for a brief moment. This was going to be it. His finisher, followed by a swift clean-up of any stragglers that might come into the vicinity shortly. So he set his hand seals into motion, charging his chakra and focusing his sights on the undead below. Static filled the air around him. The lightning dragons he sent down there would completely obliterate them, and eventually, destroy the factory.

Chapter Ten

description; Bar brawls are quite possibly the toughest brawls to break up. Everything is so chaotic and one must watch everywhere. The guy behind you could at any second throw you a strong right while the guy in front throws a strong left. People going all out with beer bottles and chairs. Well, usually bars are quite peaceful and mature but one bar in particular has fights every single day. The owner is getting sick of breaking them up and complains that it’s bad for business so he’s asking us to monitor the area and make sure fights don’t break out. Sadly, I doubt it’ll work but still, try your best to keep things civil.

After the whole event with the undead that were terrorizing Kumogakure no Sato's streets, and a swift reprimanding from the higher-ups, the red-maned ANBU agent would head to his favorite tavern for a drink. It was located in a rather popular district in Kumogakure no Sato, not too far from his apartment complex. The owner had been a very good friend of his since his first days in the village, as a fresh immigrant from Kuma no Kuni.

In fact, he remembered this place fondly, particularly because this was where he and his late wife would spend their nights, every once in a while. He remembered their dates, as he entered the establishment and gazed about. Their talks, her laughter. That was years and years ago, however. Things had changed since then. So, releasing a deep sigh, he'd advance towards the bar. If he didn't need a drink before, he most definitely did now.

He grabbed the nearest stool and took his seat, hands placed on the counter as his half-masked countenance gazed about for the bartender. The gentleman was currently attending to the services of a rather rowdy group, who kept asking if they carried a certain type of beer. So, the Jounin decided, he'd just wait a little longer until the issue there was resolved.

After a few minutes of staring at the rack of alcohol and liquors displayed on the other side of the counter, the bartender would finally reach him. Asking, promptly, if he wanted something to drink. The half-masked ANBU agent asked for his usual, the tequila shot with a slice of lime, and the bottle, too. And, knowing this customer for who he really was, the bartender immediately went off to fulfill his request. Tequila and a slice of lime it was.
