TATSUYA CAFÉ

Setting:

The previous day's storm has subsided, leaving nothing but a scattered wave of black clouds in the aftermath of the dark night sky above. Halloween decorations adorn the houses within the Southern Kumogakure no Sato neighborhood, puddles of rainwater occupy the asphalt-paved streets, and yet the "Tatsuya Café" manages to attract a healthy influx of loyal customers. The sweet aroma of coffee wafts lightly throughout the property, the sound of casual conversation and laughter emitted from within.

The entire structure in which the café resides is designed to look like the epitome of traditional Japanese architecture. Tiled roofs drip fresh rainwater from its sides. A ten-foot high wooden barrier encloses the building within a private perimeter, hiding it away from the prying eyes of the outside world. The property itself is rather large, with a span of 50x50 meters, so that the actual building is bordered by spacious patios on each side. Forming a perfect square, the seemingly private property only has one entrance-- a large wooden gate at its southern end, opened to all.

One of the first things any visitor will notice is the abundance of flora within the southern patio. A small patio of green grass covers most of that territory, but the various amount of flowers, plants, and neatly tailored bushes border it at its sides. At the corner of this garden, a small portion of sand accommodates a variety of desert plants. The building that the lush garden precedes is actually a residence. The owner's of the café live here, keeping to their private home and private patio, and only emerging during the particularly busy hours. They only live in approximately less than half of their expensive establishment, however-- with the rest of it serving solely as the "Tatsuya Café".

The structure is bordered with wooden walkways and verandas all around. Traditional Japanese fusama (sliding doors) provide a easy entryway into the bustling interior of the café. Within the establishment, a neatly assorted arrangement of low-tables, soft cushions, and soft lighting provide all of its customers with a casual, calm, and light-hearted setting in which to meet-up and relax. The café ordering counter is always stocked with an assortment of delicious pastries, fresh fruit, and snacks. An attendant is always present on the other side, ready to take your order, make a drink, or send a waiter to your table!

Garbed in his usual attire, the Jounin sat calmly at the forefront of a large table, poised and seemingly indifferent to the rest of the world. The wooden construct before him was meant for a group of five guests, and he waited patiently to see when the kids he had been instructed to teach would arrive. Sipping calmly at a cup of pure black coffee, his slate-gray eyes would occasionally shift towards the entrance nearby. Any moment now, he reasoned, they'd arrive.

Kai sighed softly calmed by the moisture and cool air around him, a light grin swept across his lips as he took in all the Halloween decorations around the village. Little did some of them know they were real, ghosts zombies beasts and horrors of the night could actually be around even walking right behind them.

Kai wasn't a child but he appreciated the sentiment of the holiday, to survive the night. Using his metallic sand he had crafted wings, a tail, and horns all given a golden second coat over the primary black layer of iron. His wings shifted and folded against his back while the tail swished in the air making children smile and laugh at the 'costume' however this was one of the few times Kai wouldn't mind a little laughter. His gaze fell to a later he had drawn from his pocket expressing the details of an invitation for him to join a team along with details to meet at the cosmetically gigantic oriental tower surrounded by a wooden barrier.

The idea intrigued him as he glanced to his right noticing a fair woman in a succubus costume, with a light grin he willed the tail of iron over to grope her ample asset before returning to him in a blink earning a surprised shriek from the woman as he walked through the wooden gate into the garden of the cafe. The flora was gorgeous and incredibly diverse to where Kai even noticed the exquisite blooms from the land of wind.

His gaze found its way to a wide open table with a single man in jounin's garb, Kai figured this was the man he was meant to meet but wasn't too sure about the size of the team. Out of respect Kai stopped at the entrance and set down his pair of katana before continuing into the cafe. He walked over while his metallic wings folded to his back as he sat in the seat to the man's immediate right. "So I hear you're putting a team together?"

The first of them had intense eyes. A mane of black hair. An aura of yet unfounded confidence that leaked into his stride. He reminded the Jounin of a man named "Midas". A man he had once fought beside, and trained with, and killed for. But, like many others, this man had been devoured by the casualties of the First World War.

He'd acknowledge the young man with a curt nod, as he approached the table, slate-grey eyes meeting with orbs of dark black. Relaxedly, he'd bring the rim of his coffee cup to the edge of his lips, sipping at the black nectar as the Genin took a seat. It was only now that the Jounin caught sight of the folded black wings on his back. Although, he'd briefly seen the boy fold them upon entering the establishment. An "Iron Sand" user-- just as the file had said.

"So I hear you're putting a team together?"

The Jounin nodded, offering the young man a two-inch smile. "My name is Sozin. Sozin Hallström. It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Kai." With a single hand wrapped around his porcelain cup of coffee, he'd continue. "We'll be waiting for two others. Make yourself comfortable while we wait, however. Order something to drink, or eat, if you'd like. It's on me." And with that, he'd resume with the waiting. Kai had arrived just when Sozin had expected him to. And he wasn't expecting the next to be late either.

[Denkou]

A chill drifted across Denkou’s spine from the cool night’s breeze as he walked the streets heading to his destination. His silver hair waved and reflected the vague moons light as he hurried on. His right hand spun a Shuriken on his index finger; he liked to keep himself occupied at all times, even when he is just walking between places.

Little children ran the pathways in costumes that depicted the festive holiday of Halloween. Their laughter and fake screams sent a memorable smile to his face. He too had once joined in with the activities, but all that stopped just over three years ago. Now he was a full fledged Genin and his life was devoted to the Villages cause. Nothing could make him feel prouder. A faint slightly older shriek rang off just ahead of him, but it was nothing to cause for concern. As his destination, the Tatsuya Café came into view; his hand returned the metallic projectile weapon to his pocket and pulled out the note from inside. It told him to meet ate the Café at 8 o’clock. It would be the start of the next team in Kumogakure.

Entering through the wooden gateway that was the only way for anyone to enter the premises, his eyes fell upon one of the true beauties in Kumogakure. Vast flowers, all different species, each more eye catching than the last, filled the entire yard that lead to the café. It was truly a remarkable sight. His eyes shifted from left to right as he gazed on at their extraordinary sight.

Entering into the café, it became apparent that he was not the first to arrive. There before him sat at the table was a young lad, slightly older than himself and a much older gentleman, presumably his soon to be Sensei. It seemed this was two of the people he was meant to meet, as they were the only ones who looked like Shinobi. He paced toward them and pulled out a chair opposite to the older look one of the two.

”Hi,” he smiled, “Is it just us three?” He asked as he sat down on the chair, his eyes shifting between the other two.

The second was to be the youngest of their group, a boy with silver hair and skin as pale as the moon. In that aspect, the newcomer reminded Sozin of a clan, infamous for its exploits in the First World War. And, perhaps, one of the first clans to ever reside within Kumogakure no Sato. For they bore the name of the storm, and the Jounin had seen the kind of power their patriarch's held first-hand.

The boy took his seat, and Sozin acknowledged him much the same way he had acknowledged the previous, sipping at his coffee.

”Hi," He smiled, “Is it just us three?”

The Jounin returned the smile with one of his own, raising his cup in a welcoming gesture. "Greetings." He'd start off. "We're expecting one more attendee, at the moment. But she shouldn't be too long. Help yourself to a snack, or a drink, however. Everything's on my tab." He'd give the two Genin a content smile, before returning to his drink. Two down... and perhaps one more to go?

Eiichiro had mentioned the possibility of two additional shinobi. And Sozin was eager to see how tonight's meeting turned out.

'Looks like this is the place' thought the female as she looked up at the café's sign. It said 'Tatsuya Café' and appeared to be in a traditional Japanese style. She entered the establishment while she wondered on how her team was.
Crystal blue eyes scanned the surroundings; the only thing she knew was the name of the team leader. Maybe he had made a reservation?

Yukiko decided to ask the middle-aged woman who stood behind the counter. "Excuse me. I'm looking for someone named Sozin" inquired the young woman.
"Give me a moment please" replied the blonde as she looked at a list of reservations. "Found him...he's at table number 8" informed the woman.

"Thank you" answered the Chuunin before she started her search. A smile formed at her face when she saw the Halloween decorations that were in the café. Her eyes then found a sign that said 'Table 8-12' at one of the doors.
She opened up the door and was met by the sight of three young men that sat at a table. One of them was quite young; he was probably not older than 14-15 at the most.

He appeared to be on her size physically while his hair was brilliant silvery-gray. The eyes however were in a dark shade of amber that intrigued her a little. Number two was a somewhat scary-looking guy with long black hair...it easily outdid hers in terms of length. He had a muscular body built while his age appeared to be 18-20. The guy appeared tough but his face had a rather young look.

Last but not least was a black-haired guy with gray eyes who seemed to be in his mid-late 20's. He had a lean body built that reminded the female of her senpai Atlas.
"I suppose you guys are the team I'm going to meet. My name is Yukiko Fuyumori" greeted the female before she did a polite bow. She then decided to sit right next to the boy with silver gray hair since he was a little less intimidating.

'Wonder what sort of ranks these guys have. The guy with gray eyes is probably our leader; he appears to be a bit more experienced' thought the brunette. She doubted that the guy next to her was higher ranked than Genin.
The guy with gray eyes was probably Chuunin or Jounin...it made sense since the others were teens. Yukiko had no clue about the last guy but guessed he was a Genin or Chuunin.

The third, and presumably final, attendee arrived. Through the periphery of his vision, the Jounin caught sight of her soft brown hair first. But as she approached their table, he would calmly acknowledge the bright blue in her eyes. 'So this is the esteemed Yukiko Fuyumori, hm?' He'd ponder, tilting his head in a polite half-bow as she introduced herself to the gang. 'I wonder what Taisho saw in her...' When she took a seat, he'd adopt a good-spirited smile. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you, Miss Fuyumori."

He'd glance down at the ceramic cup he'd placed on the table then, slightly frowning when he noticed that his reservoir of coffee had run dry. Before saying anything else to the group, he'd raise a single finger, catching the attention of the nearest waiter almost immediately. "May I have another cup of coffee?" He'd ask politely, handing the empty ceramic to the employee. "And, of course, anything else my guests would like. Put it on my tab."

Should the small squad have ordered anything or not, the waiter would leave after a moment, and the Jounin would find the time to speak as he awaited his next round of caffeine. "Well, it sure is nice to see you all here." He'd beam, hands clasped together mannerly over the surface of the oak table. " For those of you who don't know. My name is Sozin. Sozin Hallström. As you've been informed through the details of my letter, our illustrious Sandaime Raikage has officially assigned me to oversee the formation of this new unit. But first, let's begin with our introductions, yes? I suppose I'll start with my own example."

With his trademark smooth and even-tempered tone, he would continue-- skipping the part about his name, considering the fact that he'd already stated it. "I am, obviously, a Jounin here in Kumogakure no Sato. But I used to hail from a different village, one entrenched in the snow. My family's heritage trace back to the Nara clan and, thusly, I have inherited their abilities. I am an artist-- a sculptor, to be precise. But my profession as a shinobi of this village eats up a lot of my time. My reason for doing this?" He'd pause then, his smile growing inches wider. "After all I've been through... all the wars... I believe in your generation."

He'd shift to his gaze to each of their eyes then, before speaking once more. "And I'll do anything it takes to ensure it reaches the peak of its potential-- the potential to change the world."

With his introduction finished, albeit on a rather dramatic note, he'd turn his gaze to Kai-- nodding. "But enough about me. Tell us about yourself, Kai." He'd genuinely request, receiving his cup of coffee from the waiter shortly thereafter. He'd sip at it, and listen.

Kai nodded passively taking in the information as his eyes hung on the jounin. he seemed to fit the bill, war vet and all. Kai ordered sake as the waitress came over while letting his 'tail' slip across her calves. As the woman left a slight grin split his lips while the sight of a bright white boy came into view paler than snow and hair even whiter. He nodded quietly to the boy as his 'wings' unfurled slightly while he leaned forward on the table, Their guest greeted him and he caught the boy's name while the waitress came by dropped his bottle and left.

With a raised bro he chuckled lightly as he lifted the bottle to his lips and took a swig of the warm smooth liquid. According to scientists people can 'hold their lacquer' so long because of a chemical released in ones blood stream to break down the alcohol, and if a person's gland the released the chemical was over active then the person couldn't get drunk or it took a lot to do it. Kai was one of the lucky ones.

His eyes lifted at the sound of a fourth person joining them being a young girl with brown hair looking roughly the same age as the boy. with a resigned sigh he slowly realized he'd by the oldest of the group and ahead a generation. The thought gnawed at him as he bite into the lip of his sake bottle in annoyance completely missing the jounin's lecture and he only came back as he heard his name being mentioned.

"Huh? oh.. well I prefer not to talk about my past that much... I grew up in Tanzaku with my parents who had left Suna and eventually I was brought here to Kumo. I'm easily irritated when it's hot and I'm mellow in the cold." Kai mused softly as his eyes lifted from his bottle gazing at the other three attendees, while the crimson of his eyes seemed clouded the sharpness of his slitted pupils was astounding. "I like blood, meat, women, and ice. I dislike the heat and all forms of it, annoying brats, and Ignorance. I hate the Airontoku clan with a passion. Lastly, my dream is to become the dragon of Kumogakure!" Kai announced with a mighty wing beat of the his iron sand wings making a blast of wind sail across the floor but no higher than the seats of the chairs. "So who's next?"

[Denkou]

Denkou listened carefully to each word which left from the Jounin’s mouth. He explained his past, and his ideas of believing in the next generation. It caused a small smile to birth on the silver haired boys face. From fist impressions, he looked the part and it seemed like he was going to be a good leader from the brief words that came from his lips. He swiftly moved the conversation toward the eldest of the Genin, Kai. Again Denkou listened to what he had to say, attempting to build up an understanding of his new comrade.

From what was being revealed of the Shinobi, it seemed he would rather be alone than in a group. Denkou thought this as Kai mentioned annoying brats and ignorance. He couldn’t help but feel somehow it would relate to him, as he was the youngest of the group. But then he said something of interest. A hate for another Clan. The Airontoku clan, he had never heard of them, but instantly in his mind, images of him and his comrades fighting against another clan sprung forward.

“Seeing as I was next to arrive, ill go.” Replied Denkou as he spoke up, breaking track from his battling thoughts.
“Well, my name is Denkou Kumo, but you guys can call me Den, or Denden. I was born right there in Kumogakure. Infact my hole clan was born here, right all the way back to the start of the Village. My Clan is know for is special release of Ranton, but unfortunately I have not yet learned how to tap into this ability.” Denkou smiled with his eyes closed, masking an annoyance that he was most likely not born with the ability. “I like hunting, eating, helping others, keeping busy and training. While I hate swimming, the cold, dogs and carelessness and idiocy.” He finished his brief statement about himself. “What about you?” [He asked as he turned toward the only female at the table.

I'm easily irritated when it's hot and I'm mellow in the cold." informed the male. Good thing that he liked the cold considering her skills.

'Where did those come from!?' thought Yukiko with a surprised look at her face. And what was this Airontoku clan that he had talked about?

Next up was the silver-haired guy who sat next to her. "Seeing as I was next to arrive, I'll go. Well, my name is Denkou Kumo, but you guys can call me Den, or Denden.
I was born right there in Kumogakure. Infact my hole clan was born here, right all the way back to the start of the Village. My clan is know for is special release of Ranton, but unfortunately I have not yet learned how to tap into this ability." informed Denkou.

"I like hunting, eating, helping others, keeping busy and training. While I hate swimming, the cold, dogs and carelessness and idiocy" told the boy. He then turned towards her. "What about you?" inquired the silver-haired male.
"Hm...Guess I'll start with my name. My name is Yukiko Fuyumori but feel free to call me Yuki" started the young woman with a somewhat neutral look at her face.

"My parents moved to Kumogakure when I was four years old. I'm originally from Yuki no Kuni and I'm from a clan that specializes in hyouton. I'm currently a Chuunin but I have not had my own team yet" told the Chuunin.
"I like traveling, music, reading as well as bathing in hot springs. My dislikes are bullies, mathematics, lightning storms and being ill" finished the female.

He'd drained his ceramic cup of coffee in half, by the time the squad had all finished introducing themselves. For the most part, however, they had expressed facts about themselves that the gray-eyed Jounin already knew-- from, of course, reading their files beforehand. The black-maned youth who had arrived first had peaked his interest when he had mentioned a hate for the Airontoku, and a dream to become the "dragon" of their fabled village. The youngest of the trio had only confirmed his suspicions, having cemented the continuance of his heritage through the mention of the "storm" element. And Yukiko... she was still somewhat of an enigma to the man. There must have been something about her, if Taisho...

-- But, he supposed, that could wait for later. For now, he was simply glad that they had gotten the chance to introduce themselves to one another. Despite the fact that the Jounin would have personally liked to hear more about their ambitions, and dreams, and reasons for being shinobi-- mostly due to his rather insatiable curiosity-- he reasoned that within the timespan of the missions they would be doing together, they'd steadily grow to know one another. So, he placed his cup down on the table, a light clink resounding amongst the constant chatter that surrounded them in the cafe. "Well, well ~ quite a colorful congregation of people we've got here, wouldn't you all agree?" He'd nod to all of them. "Seeing as how we've a lovely Chuunin in our midst, I suppose I should discuss the structure of our group first. Then we can move to the specifics of our first assignment. First of many, I would hope." He smiled.

"My main priority is to show you all the ropes, and help you all build upon your strengths and talents. In doing so, you should all know that some of the missions we will be taking are going to be of a particularly high-rank. It will be dangerous, do not doubt that. And if you lack in conviction, by all means, feel free to depart. But just know that I will do all in my power to keep you all safe during any of our excursions." He paused then, gauging their reactions. "That being said, it should be clear that all orders I issue are to be followed. No objections. No arguments. And, when I'm not around or otherwise incapacitated in some manner, Yukiko will serve as my second-in-command. Putting that circumstance aside, however, her role in this squad is the same as yours. In the same manner in which I will be training you both to become Chuunin, I am personally going to oversee her advancement into a Jounin position."

After having driven his point across, Sozin's previously nonchalant gaze slightly brightened. "Are there any questions? If not, then we can proceed to devising a title for our squad-- and our first assignment. But, don't feel pressured to hurry this along."

Kai's Iron wings shifted back to lay against his back while the matching tail slithered and thumped quietly against the hard wood floor. His gaze shifted to the brightest of the four of them as he began, the mention of a clan was what caught him first as the tail went rigid and still before relaxing as he continued to talk about the 'storm' release. He found it interesting to have another with a not-so-simple element. The next thing Kai picked out was that they boy had a dislike for dogs, he contemplated making a dog of sand and see what he would do about it but resigned himself to just listening. The information that the boy disliked the cold brought and ironic smirk to Kai's lips.

Next the girl, announced she specialized in 'ice' style ninjutsu which made Kai chuckle lightly at the increasing irony. Though the next bit of information slapped him sober, she was a chuunin, his eyes scanned the girl rather than pass over her as they had when she first arrived. A slight undetectable huff, only signaled by the rapid descent of his chest, passed his lips before he took another deep swig of sake.

Strom then spoke again after the girl and told them that he wanted to teach them, the newer generation, to grow and expand upon ourselves. As he mentioned the risk and high-rank of the missions his eyes seemed to scan the three of them looking for any sign of reverie, but Kai just tipped his chair using his tail as a third leg for balance. Kai had faced down a horde of Doton specialized zombies and a group of 5 edo tensei revived shinobi from over the five great nations. Putting it simply risk wasn't much to Kai anymore.

After the pause Strom went on he expected no one part of the team to go against him or his orders and that put a tic in Kai's jaw, the second bit of annoyance was for him to follow the girl younger than himself. Though it wasn't so much following her as the implication that she knew better. Kai missed the part about him aiding them rank up and as he asked about if any of them had any questions Kai was the first to speak up.

"I understand the need to keep order in the chain of command but what if one of us thinks of a way to do something that is more efficient in time resources and men, no offense," he glanced at Yuki before back to Strom. "better than what our leader has come up with? I'm not trying to rock the boat I just don't want to be a blind follower." Kai's crimson eyes rested on the leader of the group not challenging but cautious.

"Oh also I commend you for gathering a team of Advanced Kekkai Genkai, whether intentional or not," his gaze then turned to Den and Yuki nodding in respect to the aspects of Ice and Storm "I didn't think we had enough for a a team in Kumo. Are either of you of the Sansutomu or Yukina clans or just the release? I'm a Zantetsuken of Iron Sand, or rather Magnet Release"

[Denkou]

After Denkou came the only female of the group Yuki. She stated that she was from a clan that specialises in Hyouton, the Ice release. He couldn’t help but think that he maybe the only one out of the three unable to use a unique release. His mind drifted off as he began thinking about his clan and their release, missing out on what Yuki liked and disliked. As he moved deeper into his thoughts, his attention was quickly pulled back as his ears picked up on the clink that filled the air. Sozin had begun to speak, stating that they were quite the bunch of Shinobi, nodding afterwards. Denkou responded back with a nod.

Moving on with the conversation, Sozin began to state the chain of Command and it was quite obvious who was going to be next in line. The only Chuunin of the group, Yuki. Which then raised the question in his head, what if she was also absent. He asked if their were any questions, and mentioned something about naming the group and of course, Denkou had a question. His mouth opened, but before a word could leave his small tongue, Kai spoke up. His words implied that he was not against the ideas of the chain of command, yet his tone did not represent it. What he was saying made sense, but it seemed that if an order was given, then in Denkou’s mind, it must be followed. But the next words that came from his mouth really peeked interest to him. Magnet Release, Ice Release and one day Storm Release. They would make quite a formidable trio. Aided with the help of the Nara clans abilities from their Sensei, it would truly be a dangerous team He then moved to ask if their was any relation to another Clan, but as far as he knew there was not. “I believe it is just a Release that my Clan too can use.” Replied Denkou.

After giving time for their leader to answer Kai’s question, Denkou presented his own. “What happens if for some unknown reason, neither you, nor Yuki are around?” It was a simple question and there wasn’t much to answer with, but it added onto the question which Kai had presented. Yet thinking back to Kai’s abilities and his own, his Raiton could be used in conjunction with magnet release as his metal will conduct electricity. Maybe Sozin had chosen all three for a reason.

She needed experience for starters since her parents had been quite a bit older than her when they got their position. 'Pretty sure dad got his Jounin rank when he was 23 while mum was 24-25' thought the female.

"As for the Jounin exam...I would like to train a bit more on my sensor jutsus that I learned a long time ago. Plus that I have heard that the Jounin exams are quite deadly. Which scares a bit me to be honest" muttered the young woman; she was a little ashamed to admit this.
