[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,420,true] OH, HAVE A LITTLE MIXED MERCY ON ME. Hearing her recall the events and rounds played out during those previous exams undoubtedly made me remember my own. It had been quite the adventurous affair for me, a road that spared no twists and turns. But the fact that I had gone with my little sister Yukiko had made things easier. The dialogue that had been made there in the cold of Tetsu no Kuni was priceless to me now- the people I had met, the things I had learned. Though my time at the actual Chuunin Exams had been cut short due to the selective hand of some high-ranking official, I had actually found the entire event quite amusing. But I kept in mind that to others, the experience had been very different. Despite her best efforts, I took notice of the decline of merriment in her voice as she continued to tell me what had happened. And then she got to the point where she described her final assailant- a girl, made of pure water. The opponent she had described was intriguing, as I had heard rumors of such beings existing before. The technique she had issued on Hirihi was even more intriguing still, and I found myself wanting to know more about this strange contender. But for now, I would keep my focus on Hirihi's tale- her physical gestures, and that gleam of sorrow in her eyes. They were, of course, feigning merriment still. And I respected her for such strength, to smile in the face of something that had bruised your past. In a way, I was going through the same thing. Then she ended her story, stating that I had been the first she'd actually told about this. I was a bit startled by the confession at first, though I didn't show it on my face. But then again, this was coming from that sweet flower that had been shielded from the world by her father. I supposed that perhaps she didn't have the medium to confess this to anyone else before. Family, friends, colleagues- sometimes it was just better to talk it all out with someone you'd just met. After hearing her inquire after my own experience at the Chuunin Exams, I smiled. "Of course." I replied rather cheerily. "I could have never attained my status as a teacher without it, and quite frankly, my genin rank was becoming quite a nuisance at the time. Not just because it was holding me back from a profession that I desired, but because I knew I had so much more to offer." As we headed out of the plaza, we would walk down a stone-paved sidewalk bordering one of Kumogakure's many streets. Various trees lined the street, leaves of amber and lemon-colored tint dropping from the branches above, the shadows and light of the day dancing over our frames. "Not to crow about my success or anything- but I used to be a Jounin during the Last Shinobi War... before the Great Flash. But it seemed like Kumogakure had forgotten that when I returned. So I was forced to earn my titles back." I smiled when I glanced at her, a warm gesture. "Hirihi... I hope you don't mind me asking... but could you tell me more about this water-girl you fought? Her name... her origin? Anything you can, really." made by renni | [atrb=valign, top] this seasoned beauty- this seasoned beauty- this seasoned beauty- -this human pageantry. |
