- Samurai – The Samurai were proud warriors of an era long gone, the protectors of Lords swearing justice and honor as they swung their swords. They were men of morals, honor and a good sense of man’s justice. With the rise of the ninja and the presence of gunpowder, the samurai soon began to fall behind, their once deadly swords mere flies swatted meters away before their glorious steel could ever taste justice. They were doomed an extinct race, never to be used by royalty again, and forever to be forgotten by the society that once glorified them.
Due to their prowess in war, the peasants feared them, forcing them to become mercenaries with a lost sense of justice just to survive. It was sad, but while the history books may have proclaimed their death a bit too early, a gathering of a skilled few would seclude themselves in an insulated underground complex, secret to the world, open only for the samurai during operations long ago.
Their most elite had actually survived a battle with several high ranking shinobi that had been scouring across their homeland, and midst their dead bodies, they found information of their home village, as well as an extensive set of scrolls detailing secrets of the chakra world. They knew what they had retrieved was gold, and so without though, the possessions were quickly acquired and their presence hidden.
Once their trail was secured to be cold, the remaining samurai that had bested their shinobi opponents would indulge in the newfound knowledge they had attained. Considering it spoke of arts never before trifled with (chakra was forbidden by samurai to be used!), they had a hard time assimilating the information at first. However, over time, the secrets of chakra manipulation were revealed, and although such a quest for knowledge had taken several years longer than they had expected, the ending was all the sweeter. Their gray hairs stood the test of time, and with them a new source of power for the armored warriors.
The use of chakra had been banned by the elders due to the dishonor it brought to the sword, but these wise warriors found a way to circumvent this ignorant code without losing the skills they had worked so hard for – manipulate pure chakra so that it enhances their weapons and armor. Such a concept was simple to many shinobi, but only on a basic, instant level; jutsu were cast on occasion, their effects lasting a few seconds. What the samurai had achieved was much grander – their chakra could potentially be active at all times, as long as they could handle the strain.
An uprising of the original class would be impossible due to their old age, but these clever foxes would instead instill themselves as their hidden clan’s elders and leaders, advising the younger generations on how to use the power they discovered to re-establish their dominance and honor within this world of shinobi. As their sons and son’s sons grew up, the power of the ‘glowing sword’ would continue to be passed, evolving in nature and improvising with each new hand that tried it. It wouldn’t be long before the shinobi began to swiftly mobilize, acquiring an array of impressive armor and weapons that would keep them safe, as well as be enhanced by their unique skills. They were lead by the original leader’s great-grandson, a slew of three-hundred against a potential set of thousands.
When they came from underground, Iron would be covered in a snowfall never before seen. It’d be a surreal transition to an even more unbelievable set of events, the now lazy and over-confident rogue ninja that had taken over Iron easily felled under the samurai’s impeccable sense of organization, strength and fighting. Their home would be theirs once more, and the need to live underground would be no more. All traitors and offenders were killed on the spot, all government officials forcefully removed, and all previous societal standers completely removed.
Under their rule, the vice and sloth from their previous inhabitants would be replaced with morality, justice and honor, the law of country and man forcing them to remain neutral to man’s problems, and act only as agens to balance out any major anomalies in what they called ‘the system’. There would be no hidden village. There would be no kage. The samurai military class ruled once more, and under a council of samurai that have proven themselves and elders, it would remain in place for many, many years. Over time, many averted conflicts would allow the samurai to earn respect and notoriety from the world around them, though they always chose to nestle within the confines of the mountainous snow region…
Iron, as its name implies, was now stronger than ever. Would the new generation continue to uphold its grand reputation? Time would soon tell.
