✖ Appearance; Akio's armor, as many ninja have noted, is a an enhancement on the ancient Samurai armor, using the ancient typical achievements of older armor, but now with the most modern technological enhancements. The armor itself is a jet black, skin tight metallic substance made of several plates shaped to fit the body and articulate almost perfectly. On the back is placed the kanji for "Samurai" in an emblazoned white. Many have wondered how the armor is released. It simple pops apart on his muscles command, the joints connecting the front armor to the back plates coming apart and becoming unhinged. The armor also includes the addition of a jet black cape that flows to the feet, and can also detach at will. More a fashion statement than a true protectorate.
Without clothing, one can see Akio's quality training from his clan's rigorous work. Akio is lithe, each muscle defined, though not bulging. His skin was once healthily tanned, but due to an incident at Iwagakure where which he was electrocuted by a rogue ninja, Akio's skin is dark. Wrinkled. Making him look well into his middle ages despite being young. In order for this to be seen however one must remove the armor. His eyes retain a young blue, and hair, once beautiful is short and frayed.
Without his armor Akio is wrinkled, and scarred in several places. His hands hold calluses from rigorous training.

If force is necessary he will use it, though he will attempt to resolve conflict without the use of his blade. Besides this, he attempts to be the traveling knight, finding where his services are needed. Occasionally he has taken a mission with a Hidden Village if it is proven to be beneficial to others, showing that his services are flexible. He has been taught that he world is an ever evolving mix of conflict and opinion. They must be respected, though some, contained.
He acts cautiously, treading carefully as to not act rash. He does not seek battle, but will accept it. Around others, when comfortable, he is charitable, talkative, and seeks a social time. Many do not believe him to be a fighter until they see both the blade and his ability. Although he is not quickly trusting, he will be friendly with those around him despite the trouble times the world is in.
Tetsu No Kuni raises no cowards, and Akio's parent's would raise no fool. As per many in his age group the young Samurai Akio would find himself tasked with objectives that even normal shinobi would find odd, besides ordinary things such as combat. He excels at painting in various mediums, poetry, can read and write, cook, clean, and establish a well-rounded life should he not have been chosen to be a Samurai. As part of his more elitist training, Akio was trained as all Samurai in advanced Kenjutsu arts and skills with and without the blade. He maintains a good concept of personal combat and battle field tactic, and performs well under pressure. He was very obviously a true soldier.
As he grew older and donned his first set of Samurai armor after his ritual of instilling the customed seal onto his body, Akio was trained just a little further in ninja arts after realizing he could not produce handsigns. The boy was not worried, he had never used such things in his life. In fact he though them silly.
Growing even older, Akio has been entrusted as a Samurai diplomat and envoy, traveling to the Hidden Villages to help restore order and peace and balance. This has been his true profession for quite some time.
I. Incident at Iwagakure Gates
Within his travels Akio came upon escorting a woman to Iwagakure. He reached the Gate just as, unluckily, an enemy ninja attacked Iwagakure itself. Akio's skill allowed him to gravely wound the enemy ninja, and force him to flee, but lost the envoy he was meant to protect. He as well suffered massive lightning damage from the assault. If not for a medical ninja on the battlefield that day, Akio would be dead.
II. Capturing The Sanbi
Akio was within Konohagakure when his command told him of the masked man who had released a tailed beast to the Land of Water. He traveled to the island of the disturbance, finding many ninja all in contest to harness the beast's power. Through several many rigors, he reached the center island where one ninja remained, and managed to scare the ninja away. From there, Sanbi imbedded itself into Akio, and he now holds the Tailed Beast.
III. The Amegakure Insurgency
Akio Akira, after only recently capturing the Three Tails and confirming his status with the Samurai elders is sent to Amegakure to ward of an incoming invasion. Against the orders of his elders, Akio instead joins the insurgent cause, deciding that the man in power is an undeserving dictator, and topples the regime. He then returns to Tetsu no Kuni, knowing that judgement will await his decision. Ronin-Satsugai no Fuuin (Seal of the Bladed Warrior) Rank: S Range: - Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: - The Seal of the Bladed Warrior was the Samurai founder's secret to attaining a new level of power. Knowledge borrowed from their neighboring chakra experts, Whirlpool, the Samurai Clan developed a seal that would ensure the self-preservation of all Samurai, as well as their place in new history. By binding an advanced seal at the core of their chakra network directly after birth, the Samurai essentially created a steady, sustained flow of pure, raw chakra. Constantly feeding outwards and unable to be turned off, this sudden increase in their chakra output allows them to remain on par with their shinobi counterparts by producing a combination of raw, powerful attacks with their traditional Bushido, at the cost of being unable to create seals and mold chakra properly due to the pressure of the surging energy. The seal itself is a combination of ancient kanji and other shapes, and is usually placed on the chest.
Note: This seal is placed upon all samurai, essentially doubling their chakra capacity by opening their chakra pathways in a somewhat similar way to Hachimontokou. However, because os this, it prevents samurai from being able to finely mold chakra in terms of jutsu, making handseals and the like useless (i.e preventing them from using Ninjutsu, Fuuinjutsu, and Genjutsu).
Chakura no Kishu (Chakra Form Manipulation) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Mid to cast, Low to sustain The most innate and basic of all Samurai abilities, this technique acts as the base to all of the armored warriors chakra related abilities. Although samurai don't use handseals and jutsu, they nonetheless have learned to bypass seals as a medium for their chakra, using instead in its raw form and manipulating it to their bidding, usually in the form of an offensive weapon. As the Samurai grows more experienced with this technique, their creations become grander and grander.
Note: This is the basis for all Naideshou Gonyuu techniques. The samurai must learn this in order to possess any of the other sub-techniques. The chakra used to coat their weapon via this knowledge can serve as a buffer between the sword and outside techniques which would require contact to activate (a samurai could slap a small fireball away without detonating it via their sword).
Kyuushen (Weapon Sharpness) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Low – 2x High A basic training technique that supplements all of the Samurai's chakra creations, this will determine the sharpness and strength behind their chakra manipulation. By coating their weaponry in chakra, the user can increase the sharpness of their blade indefinitely.
Note: By offering a Low increment of chakra, this technique marginally increases the blade’s cutting strength, allowing easy passage through leather-based armor; by offering a Mid increment of chakra, this technique moderately increases the blade’s cutting strength, allowing it to easily dig into steel-based armor; by offering a 2x Mid increment of chakra, this technique greatly increases the blade’s cutting strength, allowing easy passage through steel armor and weaponry (up to six inches thick); by offering a High increment of chakra, this technique vastly increases the blade’s cutting strength, allowing easy passage through large obstructions (such as trees, boulders, concrete, etc up to two feet thick); by offering a 2x High increment of chakra, this technique increases the blade’s cutting strength to peerless levels. At this rank, the sword can effortlessly pass through elementary chakra-infused barriers (equivalent to the blade’s length) and any other man-made materials.
Sorekiri (Weapon Deployment) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Low Now that the samurai has gotten familiar with creating bladed chakra weaponry with and without the assistance of a base, they are able to propel their creations into a straight, linear form. Fast moving and dangerous, the chakra cutters rely their size, shape, strength and power entirely on how well the Samurai has honed and trained their chakra manipulations skills. Only one projectile may be fired per swing.
Bourei (Weapon Creation) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m), Mid (5m ~ 10m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Mid This variation to the Chakra Form Manipulation grants the samurai the ability of creating a chakra weapon out of thin air, whenever combat has rendered them without their normal armament. Taking the shape of weapon whatever the samurai desires, the user's pure chakra maintains the weapon as long as there is enough chakra to fuel it.
Note: The maximum size of the weapon(s) the samurai may create is 3 meters, which can extend to a length of 8 meters.
Sashibae (Weapon Projection) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: 2x Mid As its name implies, this variation to the Chakra Form Manipulation grants the samurai the ability of enhancing a plain, solid weapon with chakra extensions. Taking the shape of the current weapon in use, or another, the Samurai's pure chakra now coats their weapon, adding a unique versatility to their approach in combat.
Note: These extensions must be simple (an axe, hammer, etc.) and forged from either a solid, traditional weapon. The same restrictions for Weapon Creation applies to these extensions, in term of extending and size.
Bakushin (Weapon Explosion) Rank: S Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: High The final step behind mastering the art of Chakra Form Manipulation involves reversing the flow paths of the absorption at such rapid rates that a sudden release of energy over the imminent build-up comes forth. This means that any chakra creation the Samurai makes, whether it comes in projectile form or extended from the user's blade, will explode on contact away from the Samurai and completely on their chosen target.
Note: The intensity of the explosion, originating from the user’s blade, is equivalent to that of several (4) explosive notes. The size of the explosion is roughly three meters is a conical fashion wherever the blade of the user’s sword is pointed.
This technique can only be used with a physical weapon (non chakra created). Likewise, this ability takes a full post to charge, in which no other techniques can be used. However, after this ability has been charged, the user may continue to battle and detonate the blade whenever he\she feels like it.
Samurai Secret Technique of the Akira: Always Among Friends Rank: S Range: Close (0-5m), Mid (5-10m) Far (10+) Type: Multipurpose Samurai Secret Technique Handseals: 0 (requires a charge time equivalent to 4 seals, or 2 seconds) Chakra Consumption: High per blade creation (x1 Massive x3High) High to maintain per turn
Among the Samurai belongs a common theory, "The Samurai is never weaponless" testimony to their abilities to craft nearly any weapon out of their manipulated chakras. While this theory has indeed been proven many a time, it is not always quite as effective. In Akio's travels he has discovered that though able to maintain a weapon, he is often forced to travel alone and combat more than one opponent. To combat this conundrum, Akio developed a technique akin to ninja themselves, crafting more than one weapon in the same way fashion that ninja may control larger and more grand objects. This technique has spawned a new mandate, that the Samurai is not only never weaponless, "the Samurai is always among friends".
Note: The user creates a set of five chakra blades manifested at waist length. These cannot be created outside of a range of five meters. The swords can be manipulated to the maximum range of thirty meters. The swords movements are conducted by the whim of the user's mind.
The strength of these swords is determined by the user's mastery of Kyuushen, and can be strengthened or weakened to all levels on par with Kyuushen.
The blades may be combined with other techniques from the Samurai's tree of abilities which include chakra blades, such as Weapon Extension, and Shatter.
One must be enlisted with the "House of Blades" of the SNG style to use this technique.
Although House of Blades users have honed their Kyuushen ability to be maintained without chakra cost, these blades will always require chakra to be active.
Though this technique was dubbed a "Secret" by Akio, it is not a kinjutsu.
Tier One – Master of Arms: Practitioners of the SNG are renowned for their vast knowledge of various sword styles. While some styles prevent users from being able to amalgamate others, masters of the SNG push themselves beyond “standard limits” and break this rule. With this mastery, SNG users can learn any other non-SNG taijutsu style involving swords, regardless of the restrictions.
Tier Two – Master of the Blade: Only those who have dedicated their entire being to the way of the blade may achieve this mastery. Focusing more so on their blade than any other art, the the practitioners of the House of Blades have learned to permanently stabilize their Kyuushen (Weapon Sharpness). With this mastery, the Naideshou Gonyuu’s Kyuushen ability is always active after they have drawn their sword and now free of cost (on all intensities).
Kabuseruken (Blade Cover) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Low A rather simple but effective technique, this allows the user to effectively sheath their enemy’s weapon in their (the user’s) scabbard during a thrusting assault. While this extreme precision and accuracy does not get used often, there have been a few times it has come in handy. Should your opponent be foolish enough to stab at you while you scabbard is in reach, they will find themselves without a weapon and primed for a counter-assault.
Note: This ability is only effective against thrusts from standard katanas.
Kensuraidingu (Sliding Blade) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Mid A rather basic, yet deadly effective, sword technique, this revolves around the user adding nearly a foot (as most handles are around that length) of additional length to their strike in an instant. Generally anchoring the sword over their sword-wielding arm’s respective shoulder, the user then lashes out in a horizontal strike, all the while letting the handle slip through their grasp. This deceitful maneuver allows the user to hit their target from an even greater range than their enemy might think possible.
Note: The chakra used in this technique allows the user to effectively slide their grip from the top of the pommel (right beneath the hilt) to the end (the butt of the handle), without worrying about the sword accidentally slipping from their hold. This “absolute grip” exists solely for the duration of this technique, and no other time. This is a slashing technique, and can only be executed in that manner.
Dagekimaruchi (Multi-Strike) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Mid One of the more basic sword arts, this allows the practitioner to deliver multiple blows with deadly accuracy and precision with seemingly nothing more than a single swing of their blade. To the normal eye, the additional strikes leave ephemeral traces of silver (or white) light in their wake, hinting that more has occurred than what the “illusion” of the strike would lead you to believe.
Note: The maximum amount of strikes that may be delivered with this technique is four. It should also be noted that this technique can be used to defend against multiple strikes delivered at roughly the same time (including itself, in some cases [wherein your enemy is using this to assault you]). This ability has a one post cooldown between uses.
Kireme Kobudou (Weapon Break) Rank: A Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: 2x Mid As masters of the blade, SNG practitioners are fairly seasoned in the “pressure” needed to completely dismantle weaponry. Item in hand, they can deliver a quick and powerful strike, effectively snapping the opposing item clean in two at the point of impact. This technique can also be used against softer materials, like the human body, to easily break someone’s bones.
Note: This can be performed with any object their holding; however, anything less durable (i.e isn’t harder) than a stone will shatter after the technique has been completely. If used on a person, this technique will instantly break the bone in the appendage struck.
Kuzuhidorasen (Nine-Headed Hydra Flash) Rank: S Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Massive The final form of the Dagekimaruchi technique, this ability takes the art to an entirely new plateau of power. Rather than five points, the user is capable of striking all nine of a victim’s vital points simultaneously. The sheer speed of the technique is said to have made it unavoidable by standard methods and that only the Daidarabotchi’s speed is greater. Regardless, this technique is revered to have claimed countless lives since the establishment of the House of Blades.
Note: Due to the immense speed used to execute this technique, the only method of avoiding (or parrying) is to achieve a greater speed; this means roughly that of the 3rd gate or higher. This technique can only be used once per thread, takes a full post to charge (it cannot be used in the same post that it is charged, and the user's hand must be on the handle) and causes and extreme amount of strain on the user (effectively removing their taijutsu primary perk for the remaining duration of the thread).
Uchikudaku (Shatter) Rank: S Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: 2x High A particularly lethal ability, this allows the user to “scatter” their blade into a hundred slivers with all the ferocity of an explosion; and though this ability cannot be used while in motion, it does provide a very strong deterrent for approaching enemies. Likewise, this also allows the user to turn a simple stab into an even more fatal situation. The eruption of these shards while buried in a person’s gut leaves no room for survival, no matter how strong the victim may be.
Note: This ability simply allows the user to “shatter” their sword into 100 small shards, exploding out in all directions in front of the user up to five meters away from the point of detonation. This technique cannot be employed while the sword is in motion (it must be still), and effectively leaves the samurai without a weapon for the entirety of the following post. After this cool down, their sword will immediately reform once again.
Daidarabotchi (God of Giants) Rank: S Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Offensive Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Massive The ultimate sword art of the SSNG style, this is the final technique learned by those seeking to become a master of the House of Blades. Generated by creating a tremendous amount of pressure along the length of the blade, the user can release a horizontal ‘slash’ that is said to be nearly impossible to avoid. There have even been some shinobi possessing predicting dojutsu, such as the Sharingan, that have fallen prey to this powerful technique. It cuts so fast that it is said the victims don’t even know they’re dead (this is for flare, only; a victim of this technique may post after they’ve been struck, though carry out no form or attacks or defense. They will expire in the following post).
Note: This technique can be separated into two categories, armed and unarmed:
Armed: With a weapon, the user places their blade horizontally before them and clamps the back of the blade, near the tip, between their middle and index finger. The chakra used is distributed between the arm clamping (essentially pulling it back), and the hand around the pommel (pulling forward). This spread of chakra creates an unbelievable amount of pressure build up, which can then be unleashed at the user’s will.
Due to the focus needed to maintain this “pressure,” the user can only move up to a maximum of three meters from their starting point (i.e where they began the technique).
When released, the pressure created from the conflicting forces erupts in, propelling the blade in a horizontal slash at unimaginable speeds (roughly equivalent to that of the 4th gate). It is said that only those with a fully matured Sharingan are capable of evading this lethal strike.
Unarmed: Without a weapon, the user forms a fist with one hand and places it into the palm of another, distributing the chakra evenly through their body to create the same intense pressure. When released, the user’s fist whips out at the opponent, and upon connection, deals an incredibly amount of blunt force trauma.
The speed of this technique is even greater than that of the armed version (roughly equivalent to that of the 5th gate, being as how it lacks the additional weight of the sword), though considerably less fatal.
This version of technique can easily tear a victim’s jaw completely from their face, or do irreversible damage to appendages if struck (such as permanently tearing the ligaments and dealing almost irreparable damage to the bone structure).
This technique can only be used once per thread. Furthermore, this technique can only be learned by those who have dedicated themselves fully to the House of Blades and mastered all of the techniques it offers. Moreover, this technique can only be performed with traditional katanas.
Sokkahane (Feather Step) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Mid A simple and basic ability, this technique allows the user to create a “cushion” of chakra beneath themselves, dramatically slowing their descent to a harmless speed. No matter how high up they are, or how fast they were falling, this will bring the user to a comfortable glide.
Note: This ability can only be used once per post. Furthermore, this ability only works if the user’s feet are directly beneath them while falling. The “Center of Gravity” passive does not remove this requirement.
Tenkuuhane (Air Step) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Supplementary Handseals: - Chakra Consumption: Mid to cast, Low to sustain A more advanced form of the Feather Step, this allows the user to focus even more chakra beneath their feet. Through this method, they are able to create a “platform” beneath the sole of each foot, giving them the ability to stand on the air, itself. Incredibly versatile, this allows the user to quite literally walk over many obstacles that others cannot.
Note: This ability can injure the user if they do not first slow their fall with the Feather Step. By creating this more durable platform, although made of chakra, the natural forces of falling do not simply vanish. This ability only works if the user’s feet are directly beneath them while in the air.
Tier 1 - Tatsujin-ken Sōgiri: Due to their dedication to the blade, the Kenjutsu practitioner's techniques now all cost one tier less of chakra, with the absolute lowest being one Low worth of chakra.
Battojutsu Rank:D Range:Close (0m ~ 5m) Type:Supplementary Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Low [activate] - [maintain] This technique concentrates a kenjutsu practitioners focus. It allows them to steel their nerves by transferring a little bit of chakra all around there bodies. This chakra relaxes the user allowing for sudden or intricate movements to be done with little margin for error.
Dorokendageki (Draw and Strike) Rank:D Range:Close (0m ~ 5m) Type:Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Low The battojutsu practitioner subjugates their dominant hand with chakra. This allows the practitioner to commence their attack from any position, this particular technique allows the practitioner to first draw with increased speed, then thrust or slashe with the blade so fast that the effects of the hit are after the user sheathes.
Tsukesagiri (Cut and Thrust) Rank: C Range:Close (0m ~ 5m) Type:Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Mid The battojutsu practitioner subjugates their dominant hand with chakra. This allows the practitioner to commence their attack from any position, this particular technique allows the practitioner to thrust into the opponent and then punctuates the movement with a harsh vertical or diagonal slash, which leads them to sheathe their sword once again.
Tsuka Dageki (Hilt Blow) Rank:C Range:Close )0m ~ 5m) Type:Defensive Handseals:-- Chakra Consumption: Mid A technique that is used by the holder of the weapon to suddenly launch the hilt of the blade outwards from any position. The main function of this attack grants the user the ability to use the blunt end of the hilt while it is still encased, and move it forward to suddenly strike the opponent. The attack is so quick, due to the method of movement, that it is a extremely difficult to predict technique, and usually ensures a hit if performed on a unsuspecting target.
Note:The stunning power of this technique is one turn after contact.
Sandangamaegiri (Triple Cut) Rank: B Range:Close (0m ~ 5m) Type:Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Mid [Per Attack] The battojutsu practitioner subjugates their dominant hand with chakra. This allows the practitioner to commence their attack from any position, this particular technique allows the practitioner to unsheathe their blade, before beginning to slash once and then continues on with their forward movement, which allows them to cut the opponent with additional blows with their chakra enhanced speed.
Note: This technique depends entirely on the success of the first strike. Once the first strike hits a total of two more strikes can be placed after the first one.
Marugiri (Circle Cut) Rank:B Range:Close (0m ~ 5m) Type:Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: High Commencing from a kneeling position, the practitioner draws, rises and spins in one fluid motion, forestalling opponents all around and then quickly sheathes. Rotating a full three hundred and sixty degrees, this cutting strike is useful for assaulting targets all around the user at once. Upon finishing the twisting cut, the user sheathes the weapon.
Senkou Zuki (Flash Thrust) Rank:A Range:Close (0m ~ 5m) Type:Offensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: x2 High Using a vast amount of mental focus, the practitioner nearly-instantaneously draws, thrusts at an opponent and sheathes again, all in the blink of an eye. The user and his blade moves like a storm, flashing from one attack to the next relentlessly, the opponents being unable to trace one indistinguishable attack from the next.
Iaijutsu (Art of Mental Presence) Rank:D Range:Close (0m ~ 5m) Type:Supplementary Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Low to cast and sustain A defensive nature of fighting, all Iaijutsu practitioners will tend to stand in closed positions, sending chakra throughout their bodies to quicken response times. this leaves little openings and makes sure to make the least amount of wasted movement possible so as to remain solid like a rock. Once the swordsman has understood the basics of fortification, they move on to more complex defensive patterns.

Commencing from any position, the practitioner draws their sword and moves to deflect or simply block the strike, then resheathes. As the user becomes more proficient in Iaijutsu, more strikes can be defending against in a fluid movement, before they are overwhelmed by the attacks.
Note: This technique serves as a counter against multi-strike based techniques. A maximum of three techniques can be parried per use at an incredibly fast, almost "simultaneous" rate. It should be noted that these parries must be plausible, and simply because a user can defend relatively quick does not mean the are immune to being struck. As state, this will be widely considered as a multi-strike counter.
Rasen Karasu-Zuki (Spiral Parry Thrust) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Mid Commencing from any position, the practitioner proceeds to unsheathe their blade and quickly strike down an incoming projectile, either slicing it in half or redirecting its path away from the user. Useful when faced with opponents that prefer to strike from a distance, as long as the user is able to spot the incoming threat in time. Once the user becomes more proficient at judging the distance, speed and direction of projectiles, they will be able to cut down even more projectiles in a fluid movement.
Note:Up to 15 projectiles can be parried per use
Ridairekuto (Redirect) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Mid Commencing from any position, the practitioner proceeds to unsheathe their blade and quickly strike against an incoming physical attack. But, instead of simply blocking it, the user will instead use the opponents momentum against them, which in turn forces them off balance and leaves them vulnerable to a strike afterwards. While off balance, the opponent will be unable to perform actions involving high amounts of dexterity, due to the surprise of being knocked off center.
Note:Once parried, the opponent is left off balance and unable to find their footing for half a turn.
Sumasshu (Smash and Defend) Rank: C Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: Mid Commencing from any position, the practitioner strikes with the hilt at a frontal opponent's face, forcing him to stumble back, which allows them to follow up with a quick slash or cut. Following the mindset of 'the best defense is a great offense', the user will seek to stop an opponent from throwing an attack out in the first place, leaving them on the defensive and unable to fully utilize their offense.
Busoukaijo (Disarmament) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: High Commencing from any position, the practitioner strikes with the hilt or blade at the opponent's wrist, mid-strike or not, forcing them to drop any item or weapon they are holding, then the user sheathes. This method is used to prevent the user from becoming overwhelmed by a stronger foe, or to simply provide the opportunity for a successful follow-up attack.
Note: This technique will automatically cause the victim to let go of their weapon if struck.
Shisukate (Defending with the Sheath) Rank: B Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: Chakra Consumption: High Commencing from any position, the practitioner holds the blade within the sheath, gathering themselves for a mere moment before preparing to stop an incoming attack. Once the attack is nanoseconds from making contact, the user quickly raises their sheath from it's held position, halting the attack in it's path due to the combined defense of the sword, sheath, and strength combined with it. This prevents the user from being overwhelmed by potential one-hit knockout techniques.
Shoushitsuten (Vanishing Point) Rank:A Range:Close (0m ~ 5m) Type:Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: x2 High One of Kenjutsu's ultimate defensive maneuvers, this technique relies on brute strength and rapid movement to evade an attack, instead of using their sword. Commencing from any position, the practitioner uses his advanced training and experience with defending, dodging, and countering to seemingly avoid a strike at an incredibly fast speed, allowing them to slip up close to the opponent. The speed at which the user moves is staggering and, when coupled against an opponents strike, allows them to get up close, their sword unsheathed and ready to deliver their own blow.
Hitosashi Tenrai (Dance of the Wind) Rank: S Range: Close (0m ~ 5m) Type: Defensive Handseals: -- Chakra Consumption: 2x High per block Undoubtedly, the ultimate defense maneuver of the Iaijutsu collection. Commencing from any position, the practitioner focuses all of mind and body simultaneously, allowing his chakra to surge through their body. Due to the elite reflexive training of the Kenjutsu style, the user becomes like a moving blur, becoming 'one with the wind' as they evade incoming attacks, either through dodging, blocking, or parrying. So long as the user is aware that the opponent is nearby, they can continue to block the attacks and strikes through their freakish reflexes and skill. The immense chakra drain forces the technique to only be capable of being active for a limited amount of time, so the user must use the technique wisely. Thought of as the antithesis of 'Kagirinai Hagane Hitosashi', the two techniques have been known to completely counteract each other, leaving behind an amazing spectacle of sparks and sword clashes.
Note: This allows the user to defend with agility and reflexes comparable to the 4th Gate.
