Bounding off on my word, it was rather refreshing. I was sure he'd have no problems acquiring the levers for me, and then it'd only be a matter of making sure we retrieved the mechanisms separately. It wasn't as if i had any inkling as to their workings, but it was better to have things you couldn't use than to not have them at all! So then, the massive stone surroundings, and - oh my. I was momentarily distracted as one of the oversized gates collapsed in front of me, as if in slow motion it toppled to the ground, illiciting a heavy crash into the dusty earth. I could imagine how satisfying it must be for those dear guard shinobi. Where on earth was i going to dispose of such a massive door...
I was smiling, mostly at the enthusiasm of the previously dour shinobi on guard duty, and continued to move rubble and parts of the gates through the air with my silk, depositing them in a rather unorganised pile near the base of the fallen gate. I tried to envision the gates before, but i wasn't sure if i wanted to merely recreate my previous ones. They were undoubtedly stylish, but fashion changed so fast. Perhaps a sweet archway, layered with traps and secrets? Or maybe just a pair of marble pillars? A chic iron gateway would be adorable, perhaps with metal flowers inlaid on the bars? As ahead of myself as i may have been, i was fooling nobody that i would be useful in the physical labour of the task.
"We'll be recreating them on the same spot, darlings, so do try not to leave any lasting damage on the ground." I called, dumping a pair of metal plates beside my rubble collection. Perhaps, it could be an underground entrance? A stylish little tunnel, inlaid with marble and lit with torches! I supposed that was rather done though. And what if it became damp, or musty? That wouldn't do. I did want a red carpet, too...
I teetered alongside the toppled gate, looking down at its construction. Stone, wood, metal, it was entirely functional, but with zero aesthetic appeal. I wasn't a fool, though. I knew it was important to be unassailable. But a massive gate didn't really stop those intent on destruction. It was people, not buildings, that had that power.
