Taking in a deep breath of air, and pleasuring his nasal senses with the strong smell of tasty meat, Atlas would slide his plate over to his place on the table and drool. "Thank you, kind sir." He'd say, before the waiter in question bid them farewell. Without a second to spare, and hungry beyond his wits, the half-masked gentleman would grab his hefty jalapeno burger with both hands and take a big chomp out of it, stuffing his mouth with beef, lettuce, tomatoes, melted swiss cheese and- the coup de grâce- multiple freshly chopped jalapenos. The flavor was simply to die for, and his delight over the quality of its taste could be seen clearly on his face- eyes rolling with a satisfying mmm as he chewed his food. The jalapenos were insanely spicy to his palate, but that was expected- and therefore prepared for. Having already anticipated their power, he could simply focus on the explosion of taste that was happening in his mouth.

The young man would chew his food with eyes closed, taking in every taste, every sensation, with a dorky smile. When he had finished scarfing it down, Atlas would swiftly reach for his glass of water and wash it down the burning aftertaste of his jalapenos down. A gulp and a gasp, after he'd chugged down a considerable amount of H2O, and the young man would smile at Yukiko from across the table. "Dee-li-cious." He'd beam, sizing up the jalapeno burger on his plate for another bite. "Hey, Yuki-chan." He'd continue, as he carefully picked up his burger once more, trying not to spill any of its contents from its backside. "I never knew you wanted to become a Chuunin. I've always wondered about it though. What made you want to apply?" He'd ask, glancing at her with warm eyes before he dove back into the rollercoaster of taste- a.k.a his jalapeno burger. He knew her parents must have had an influence on her- them being exceptional Jounin and all- but he truly wanted to know whether she was doing this for herself or for her family, and for what reasons specifically. It was interesting, and something he'd been meaning to ask long before, but never got a chance to- due to all the training and travel.

"Let's eat!" said the female before she started to eat the food she had ordered. The burger had lots of vegetables she had liked while the dressing did not taste like creme fraiche. "Yuuum" said Yukiko with a smile on her face.
The other male seemed to like the burger he had received for a minute ago. The girl had started on her 7op when his voice broke through the silence.

"I never knew you wanted to become a Chuunin. I've always wondered about it though. What made you want to apply?" asked Atlas. "Weeeell...." said the Genin as she looked up at the ceiling for a couple of seconds.
"I want to see what it's like; I've heard that it can be hard or easy depending on the year" said the female.

"My parents told me I had to forfeit if it became too dangerous or if I knew I couldn't handle what was coming my way. My dad told me to do that because people might get seriously injured or worse" said the brunette.
She had a serious look on her face while she chewed at some of the french fries that were on her plate. "These are really good" said the girl with a smile. "I won't ask the reason why you're here...you're probably sick of hearing that you should be Chuunin or even Jounin at your age" said Yukiko.

"Mhm." Atlas would answer with a nod, when Yukiko had informed him of her parents guidelines. "I agree with your dad. These things can get pretty dangerous sometimes. I trust you know what your limit is though, and when you should feel it is time to forfeit." Biting into his burger, as Yukiko chowed down on her fries, he'd listen as she continued on, mentioning Atlas' reason for coming to the exams. He smiled at the thought she had brought up, chewing and swallowing his food before answering. "The fact that most people are surprised to learn I'm a Genin doesn't really bother me, to be honest. I know that I have a power within me that exceeds the expectations of titles and monikers like that. And it's a nice surprise, when I defeat people of higher rank who looked down upon me before. Usually leaves them red-faced and embarrassed." He'd grin, popping a jalapeno into his mouth.

He wondered whether he should mention his duties as a ninja during the war. Back then, rank wasn't as important as it is now or once was. Kumogakure in particular had sent multitudes of Genin into war, some of them fresh out of the Academy, to fulfill the needs of manpower in their battles. Atlas had already garnered some experience before he'd been sent off to fight other people's battles. His memories of those times were iffy, due to his amnesia, but he did remember bits and pieces. A squad, a medic, a woman, a friend dying in his arms... a child. And though he'd woken up from that nightmare long ago, his exploits as a soldier of that war had never gone noticed. Not that he wanted them to... not that he desired to attain a higher rank simply because he had done so. But that entire affair- it did obtain some merit... didn't it? Or had he simply fought a war and suffered for nothing? It'd felt that way for a while now.

Grasping his cup of water, he'd chug those thoughts away from his mind.

Watching as he would take a seat, she made a note to herself about jumping to conclusions. He had a point. They hadn't known each other very long, and she was already considering him her friend. Maybe it was a flaw in her character, but she was fairly certain that she was safely able to put that kind of a trust in him. Why? She was a medic. He needed her as much as she needed him. Right? Sighing, Hirihi leaned back and settled into the seat. Watching the waiter as he would approach, Kurai would order his drink before the waiter could come closer to the table. "Well, then let's get to know each other better." Hirihi said, leaning against the table and taking a bite of mashed potatoes.

Wondering what the two would talk about, Hirihi shrugged her shoulders and quietly chewed the mashed potatoes. Taking a sip of water, she turned her crimson eyes back to him. "Well, for starters, I guess I'll go first. As you know, I'm Rinji Hirihi. I've been a shinobi for Kumogakure since I was 13. Six years of service to the village doubling as a medic and a shinobi on missions, I've got enough medical experience to be considered one of the best in the hospital." She said, knowing that he would begin to understand that she was not like most other people when it came to their age matching their appearance. If anything, she would be three years behind when it came to her physical age shining through her appearance.

"What else would you like to know about me?" Hirihi asked, curious as to what he would like to know about her. Once she was done being the focus of the conversation, she would obviously turn it to ask questions about him.

Kurai's eyes would widen in surprise as he would observe his ally's eager appetite. However, it would not be her willingness to eat that would surprise him, but instead the fact that she was so much older than she appeared. Being completely unsure of her age, he had very little faith in what she was capable of, however, after relaying her experience and age, he was sure that he had hit the jackpot in nailing this asset. It's true, she was no doubt capable of healing him if the situation called for it, but that would only beg the question of why it was that she was still a Genin? He wasn't sure about the medics of his village, or if they operated in a different ranking circle than the rest of the ninja, but he was sure that in order for her to be considered on par with the rest of the medical Chuunin, she had to prove herself. Perhaps this exam would be that method?

Either way, considering that she had become a Genin at thirteen, the same age he had, and that she had been a Genin for six years, that would make her nineteen years old, and three years his senior. His eyes would slowly fade as he would begin to look into her scarlet eyes, attempting to tell her age from them. However, it was inevitable. She just appeared too young to be older than he was. Upon finishing her miniature speech, the young Ogon would shrug his shoulders, his elbows raising to the table top while his hands would interlace his fingers directly in front of his mouth. The waiter would come back, as if on cue to place the tall, slender bottle of ginger beer next to him. However, despite the immediate invasion of another person into their space, Kurai couldn't take his eyes off of his partner.

"So you spend a lot of time saving lives..." He would start, his hands falling from his face so that he can take a hold of his ginger beer. The cool feeling against his fingertips would urge him to continue. "... have you ever ended one?" His lips would curl as the tall, cold glass would pierce the skin on his lips as the spicy ginger would roll down his esophagus.

Hirihi would watch him as the silence would fall between the two. There was a certain awkwardness to the silence, as if she were being put on trial and investigated. It wasn't in how she felt, but in how he acted. It was just like when they had met back at the cave. He just kept his mouth shut, and continued to let her talk. He kept a lot to himself, she could tell that much. His statement about her ability to save lives, as she knew, would lead to the question of taking a life. Had she done it? Yes. Every shinobi, at one point or another, has to take a life. It was the natural cycle of kill or be killed. Turning her eyes away a moment, mostly to collect herself, she watched out the window once more. There were samurai wandering around outside, with a few ninja darting here and there. She wasn't sure if they were training, but it was better than watching those golden eyes that were examining her so deeply.

Turning her eyes back to him, she knew that the tone on her face would change to a much graver look. It was never something she liked to discuss, but it had been a time where she had been forced to take someone's life. As she nodded her head, Hirihi could see the life draining from the boy's eyes that she had killed. "I have killed. It is a skill that all shinobi must possess. The ability to take the life of the enemy is something that can't be overlooked." She said, the seriousness of their conversation shining through. "Just as I'm sure you learned how to handle taking a life, I learned as well." She said, taking another bite of steak and keeping her crimson eyes on his golden ones. What was his angle? She couldn't help but feel that nagging sense in the back of her head that said that there was something that she needed to fear from him.

She would keep these concerns to herself and try and block it out as the conversation would progress. No sense fearing him just yet. If he double-crossed her, or if he became a liability, she knew how to handle him. Just... like him.

Yukiko smiled; she recognized that feeling when she and two others were the only ones from her year to graduate.

'Too bad that they already have a team' thought the girl. But she had the young man to be her teammate and Asa to be her teacher. 'It's just that...I don't know them that well. I know that senpais parents don't live together and that he does not have siblings. But he's never told me about his days in the Academy or anything like that' thought the Genin while she ate her fries.

Pondering on the topic of her previous statement, the Cloud ninja would bite into his burger and continue eating. It then hit him like a bolt of lightning- the realization, that if things went awry, this might be the last meal he'd be having with her. With anyone, really. And he was right to be slightly nervous, as he had no idea of the magnitude in which the participants for the Chuunin Exams were. A sullen expression appeared in his eyes as he swallowed his food down. Thinking about that, knowing that it was a dire possibility, had changed his mood a bit. But not enough to bring him down completely.

With a tranquil smile, the Akegarasu would release a satisfied ahh and lean back in his seat, staring at the snowy paradise outside the window once more. It sort of reminded him of Kuma no Kuni during the winter. And his family, when he had been but a young child. When his parents had still been together. The reminiscence did in fact bring some sort of calm about him once more, and he relished the warm feeling in his blood. His nerves had been settled, but the prospect of dying during these exams was still in the back of his mind. And though he hated the idea of being a bit too melodramatic, Atlas felt he owed Yukiko a chance to get to know him better- his history, his reasons for becoming a ninja, his goals and aspirations. As much as he could divulge.

For if he died in the coming days, he did not want to be known for being the cheery dork he assumed she thought he was. He was that and much more! He had character, he had reasons behind every action he took, and to him, there was much more than met the eye. His emerald green optics would drift back towards Yuki-chan, framed over his ever-present smile. Placing both elbows onto the table once more, and propping the side of his face on an open palm, he'd sport a bright expression. "Hey, if there's anything you need to know about me, Yuki-chan, you can go ahead and ask, y'know. I'm an open book."

An unexpected announcement would suddenly echo throughout the restaurant- the first exam was beginning. A written test, if Atlas remembered correctly. Wishing he could be in more than two places at once, the Akegarasu would groan and slide his plate forwards. He had really wanted to answer any questions little Yukiko had, but it seemed the Chuunin Exams had other plans. "Well, I guess that's our cue." He'd smile, sliding out of the booth and standing up. He'd down the last of his ice water before continuing, chugging down the cold liquid and placing the cup back on the table when he had finished. "Ahhh," Turning to Yukiko as she hopped off of her seat, he'd grin. "C'mon, we should get to the exams building aay-sap. Our test is waiting!" With that, he'd swiftly pivot around and lead the young girl out.

Thanking the waiter that had served them as they left, Atlas would turn towards Yukiko one more time as they walked. "Hey, and maybe we can get smoothies later, hm? I can answer all your questions then." Cheer filled his eyes as he opened the door for Yuki and lead her out. This part of the exam, he was sure she could pass. The girl had a tendency to be smart, anyways. And little situation's as the ones rumored to be on the test were probably going to be little more than run through for her. After all, weren't the Academy's in Kumogakure way better than the one's he knew when he'd been a child?

A voice announced over the speaker that the first round of the exams were about to start. "Well, I guess that's our cue." said the male. The female swallowed the last soda that was left in her mouth and followed him out of the restaurant. "Hey, and maybe we can get smoothies later, hm? I can answer all your questions then." said Atlas.

"Yeah. Let's do that...this is just a theory test I think. I just hope that the paper isn't out to kill us" said Yukiko and laughed. She went out of the restaurant towards the door where the first Chuunin exam test would take place. Would they pass?

He'd finished the exam earlier than even he had expected and strode over to the smoothie place he and Yuki-chan had decided to go to after the first round was over. Maneuvering through the spacious hallways and recreation rooms located in the Summit HQ, the Akegarasu would finally find himself in the Southern Wing, facing a neat establishment labeled, "Jackson's Juice Jigger". Such outlandish names, he couldn't help but smile at the sight. The Unhappy Cow, and now, Jackson's Jigger? The Summit HQ, and the people it allowed to take business there, were unusually light-hearted, at least compared to the image the Samurai kept outside of these lands. Spending no more thoughts on the matter, the Cloud ninja would continue into the smoothie place and delve into the air-conditioned chill within. Yukiko was still finishing the last of her exam, so he would scan the place and look for an ideal place to sit as he waited for her.

The entire hangout was decked with white walls, polished white floors and trendy booths and tables. It also had serving counter, similar to that of a bar, but stocked with smoothies and shakes instead, with a vast array of ice cream displayed behind a chilled glass counter. Drawn to the fruity smells and appealing visuals, Atlas would stride over to the "bar" and slide onto one of the stools. Small menus were propped neatly on the counter, each of them like flip books, with a variety of choices for each type of beverage or treat they dished out. What really caught his eye, however, was the option of making your own custom smoothie. And though he didn't look like it, the Akegarasu was a big fan of fruit smoothies. His amazement, and joy, only increased when he looked upon the large list of fruit, exotic or otherwise, that they offered.

A "bartender" approached him from behind the counter, clad in black khakis, a tailored black shirt, and a navy blue apron. The young man would proceed to ask Atlas what he desired for today, but the half-masked ninja would reply with a shake of his head. "Oh, I'm not ready to order yet. But I will be soon. Thanks." The bartender would nod, going back to his duties, and Atlas would smile. Twisting his body to spot the door, he'd check if Yukiko had made her entrance yet. Whether she arrived in a minute, or whether she arrived in an hour, Atlas would utilize the time given to come up with the perfect concoction for his desired beverage. There were plenty of things to choose from, after all, and he wanted to make sure he made a smoothie that would adhere to the desires of his taste buds. Did somebody say guava fruit?! Aw yeah.

Leisurely placing the bottle back onto the wooden table, he would notice that her answer was one that was far more fitting than he had been expecting. It was not her answer that pleased him, no, as a medic she was more than familiar with the teetering between life and death. One cannot know how to save a life without knowing the repercussions of not saving a life. However, his blank face would not show any sort of comfort from her answer. Instead, his vibrant golden eyes would peer across the table, through his subtle navy hair as he would begin to contemplate why it was that she would assume that he had killed as well. The spice of the soft drink would begin to tingle against his tongue and from within the confines of his stomach, though. Though the tension would please him, it would also allow him a bit more to contemplate. If their relationship was going to be anything like this ginger drink, then they would need to discuss a lot more than their history. The bubbles would dance to the top of the liquid, as though never ending in its journey for release. Taking his time to lean back into his chair, his long, slender legs would rise and cross over onto each other at the knee. His left leg would dangle in the air as he would sit comfortably across from his partner. His hands moving from the table to his lap, he would readjust his head, his gaze unwavering from the bottle.

"That's a very methodical way to look at it Hirihi. The ability to take a life is something that cannot be overlooked," He would repeat her sentence, his gaze finally returning back to hers. "And yet, it tasted, like them all, the figures I have seen set orderly, for burial, reminded me, of mine." The shinobi would recite, one of the thousands of poems he had memorized surfacing to present itself in this very conversation. "I trust that you of all people would understand the value of a life. To be honest, it takes time for me to recognize a person as a life. Memories, thoughts, imagination, it's all so easily erased with the simple stroke of the wrist." He would end, flicking his wrist slowly to imitate the cutting of a sword.

Look out of the window alongside her, he would begin to become lost in the dismal portrayal of the earth through the condition of Tetsu no Kuni. He wanted to go outside, he wanted to feel the reality of the cold, and the know that he was not simply caught in a Cartesian scheme. The few winter birds would fly passed the massive panes, their wingspan showing their true size as they would dodge the massive snowflakes as gracefully as imaginable. The mountains in the distance would beckon to the young man, and their cover behind endless amounts of white would only make them more elusive.

"Finish your food. I think we should go for a walk." He would suggest, grasping his bottle and quickly

Hirihi watched him quietly as he would take his turn to speak. His way of speaking was very cool and calculated. It was something about him that she was beginning to find very good. She wasn't that much of a strategist, but she was definitely able to think fast. Watching him, she would continue to consume her meal at a leisurely pace. The potatoes would be gone by the time he would finish talking and begin to stand up. The idea of leaving the building for a while was a very tempting offer. She could use a break. Plus, this would be a nice chance to get to know the person she had teamed up with. Who knows, maybe there could be more to him than just... well... golden eyes and creepy vibes?

Watching him as he would leave the "Unhappy Cow," Hirihi would turn back to her meal and begin to finish the food that she had ordered. It had cooled off considerably in their little conversation, but it was still warm enough to be enjoyed. Finishing the meal took less than ten minutes. Standing up, stretching and taking one last look outside of the window, Hirihi shrugged her shoulders a bit. He hadn't said where to meet. So, she could only assume that she'd just have to hunt to find him. Now that she thought about it, the exams were definitely the best chance she had at some normalacy compared to her own life. The sad thing that it was, she had no real friends aside from the ones that she had begun to make recently.

Her thoughts drifted to Areru. Was she there at the exams too? That was something that could be interesting. Maybe she would see her friend again. Shrugging her shoulders, Hirihi exited the restaurant and moved back to the elevators. She'd make a quick stop upstairs to drop off some of her things in her room and then go outside to find Kurai.

'Jacksons Juice Jigger?' thought the female as she looked up at the sign that was at the smoothies bar. 'I bet senpai is in there already' thought Yukiko and walked into the bar. She looked around for a minute before she spotted the male she was with.
The girl smiled; she walked over to him while she wondered what to order. They had a lot of yummy things here.

"How was the first round senpai? I thought it was really hard...it's a reason why I'm the youngest one here" said the Genin and let out a small sigh in frustration. But at least she could blame her age at this exam; the people who were closest to her age in there appeared to be 13-14 years old.
"Can I take your orders?" asked a waiter that had appeared just two minutes after Atlas had given his answer. He was wearing a black shirt and khakis.

"Uhm...I'm not sure...there are so many yummy things at the menu" said the female while she looked at the chart. One of the smoothies then caught her eye. "I want to try the berry delight smoothie with strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and blackcurrant" said the brunette.
"Gotcha. What about you?" asked the waiter as he looked at the young man.

A bell chime rung throughout the establishment, the sound of the entrance to Jackson's Juice Jigger being opened. After a moment spent scanning through the menu, flipping through the various options and trying to decide on a select few, the Akegarasu would twist his body around to see who had entered. Perhaps it was his imoto! And sure enough- it was. The soft pitter-patter of feet advanced towards his location as Yuki-chan returned his smile and hopped up onto one of the stools.He wasn't sure she could seat herself properly on the somewhat tall stool, as she was as short as a ten-year old should be, but she managed and would inquire after Atlas' experience with the first exam. A slightly exasperated sigh escaping her mouth shortly afterwards.

"I think I did pretty good, honestly. One of the first ones to finish, too." He beamed, trying not to seem too proud of himself. "And I'm sure you did quite well. Heck, you're the smartest ten-year old I know. No joke." Abruptly, the waiter that had confronted him before would appear from the sidelines, grabbing the small notebook hidden within the recesses of his apron's front pocket and plucking the pen lodged between his ear. He was ready to take their orders, and Atlas would quickly scan through the menu's contents as Yuki-chan ordered first. All this time- and he still didn't know what to order! How embarrassing, and the picturesque image of an indecisive fellow he did not want to seem like.

Eyes would flick from left to right, going through all the lines, meticulously taking in every option and choice. He could hear his Yukina companion ordering now, mentioning fruits that made the young man's heart flutter. Raspberries? Blueberries? His favorite! But when the waiter turned to him, what would he get? Decisions ran through his mind, combinations and flavors important to him. And finally, his response, "Uh... I'll have an ice-blended smoothie with guava fruit, banana, orange and a teaspoon of lemon juice and honey please. Oh, and with protein mix if you have it! With a dash of yogurt." As strange as it might have sounded, but a popular drink in Kuma no Kuni nonetheless, the waiter would scrawl down his order besides Yuki's and head off.
