[/size] Didn't want to step on your GM toes, Vega, so I'll leave the distance between me and the "darkness" up to you. Totally looking forward to this!

I heard the blood-curdling scream from afar. And I ran- towards it.
What had once been a leisurely stroll along the edge of the Shinzenrin forest, after a long day of Kumogakure no Sato assignments, had now become an urgent response to someone's desperate cry. The soles beneath my black boots landed roughly on each branch I leaped onto, making haste towards the source of the sound, as the hoodie on my zipped-up black jacket rippled with the current of air that swept past me. I... I didn't know what was happening... and I had heard rumors about this place. Awful rumors. But I'd be damned if I let fear take over me. Fear got people killed. And if someone was in trouble here in the darkness of the "Virgin Forest", I was resolved to save them. Or at the very least, try.
As I leaped from tree branch to tree branch, my black trousers dirtied with each branch that managed to 'slap' against them, I called out- loudly enough to be heard from meters away, especially considering the echoes that ran so easily throughout the forest. "HOLD ON!" I exclaimed, pausing to catch a breath as I propelled myself off the next branch. "I'M COMING!" I didn't know what I would find but, thankfully, all of my equipment and weaponry was still at hand. A scroll sleeve remained wrapped around the length of my upper left arm, the satchel situated against my lower back carried a breath mask, three light bombs, and a single smoke grenade. And, to top it all off, I had a bowie knife holstered on my left hip- and a butterfly knife concealed firmly on my left foreleg.
I imagined the unimaginable, as I neared the site of the scream. Werewolves, vampires, ghouls that were rumored to wander among the pines. The shadows that surrounded me seemed to be closing in when I wasn't looking, the trees swayed with such precision that I could have sworn that they were alive. But my dark blue eyes narrowed with determination. No, none of that was real. It was the forest, playing tricks. And right now, I had no time for games.
I spotted a clearing amongst the trees afar, and the dainty form of a woman. Unaware of what she was looking at, and unable to hear (for the moment) what she could hear, I picked up the pace and took one final leap. My dark silhouette would contrast against the bright white moon above while I was in the air, and that same moonlight would provide the woman with enough illumination to see that I wasn't any sort of monster when I landed approximately 2 meters in front of her. I tossed her a glance, dark blue hair swaying in the wind. "Are you okay?" I asked. But I wouldn't give her enough time to answer. A chill ran down my spine. And I looked over my shoulder, into the darkness meters away. My eyes widened. What was there?
