Those bastards...

While the war had left her village literally in shambles, it had almost ignored the capitol completely. Only a few buildings were damaged, and only to a minimal degree. Zamarron narrowed her eyes, thinking back to the destruction of her home. The Daimyou had been untouched during the war; what tricks up his sleeve had he executed to ensure such safety? Already the girl was suspicious of the great man.

Her hostility was reflected in her purposeful, powerful strides, and she quickened her pace as her suspect grew nearer. The people of the capitol, working ever deligently on their days tasks, looked up from their work to stare at the passing beauty. Yet the chuunin ignored them, used to the attention. No words would be uttered to her subordinate on their journey from the village to the capitol until now.

"So, Zibishi... you got a last name?" she asked, genuinely curious to know what it was.

The young Genin's eyes examined the Capitol city and he couldn't help, but feel jealous at the sight of the prosperity of the city. It was like there was no war that ever happened and the city was simply going through its daily motions, while Kirigakure was fighting for its life, trying to rebuild and reorganize. He shook his head and the weary eyes of the workers of the capitol city examined his small stature and he could tell they weren't impressed. The most impressive thing about him was probably his clothing attire which seemed elegant amongst all the greys and browns.

He walked in silence for most of the trip leaving Zammy alone probably to her delight so he was caught off guard when she finally asked him a question about his last name. He normally liked to keep that a secret, but as they approached their objective he was becoming more serious and didn't intend to mess around with his superiors.

"Sansutsomu."

He said with pride. He wondered if the Chuunin would recognize his last name, but if she didn't then he would just let the mystery ride out in her head until they were faced with combat and then she would know more about his heritage than he could ever explain with his words. He didn't wonder about her last name as he didn't think it was important at the time.

"Sansutsomu," Zibishi replied.

Zamarron's eyebrows ascended. She'd heard of the clan, and their eyes. Obviously the kid was a ranton user, like herself, but at such a young age? Even she had to admit, that was impressive. Suddenly the notion that she had something in common with this flower girl hit her; she stopped in her tracks, temporarily putting a halt to their journey. A shadow appeared over her eyes as she inclined her head earthward, shame welling up inside her.

How embarassing...

This meant only one thing; she and Zibishi shared a common interest. Meaning, they would inevitably work well together as a team. The songstress dreaded the idea- being followed around constantly by the likes of him. And it wasn't that Zibishi was all that bad. In fact, he seemed to have his wits about him and even possessed a sense of humor. Zamarron simply wasn't a people person.

Thankfully, she wouldn't look like a complete dumbass, frozen and immersed in her thoughts. For they had arrived at the Daimyou's house, which loomed above them, and in pristine condition. The medic sighed, slouching as her gaze slid over to rest on the genin that trailed her.

So... colorful.

Her mind remembering the task at hand, the lass trudged up the steps that lead to the front door. Standing before the entrance, she knocked politely, before standing back to await patiently the face of the Daimyou.

"Wipe that silly little smile off your face, flower girl. Remember, we're here on the Mizukage's orders- this is strictly business."

Zibishi continued his nice calm collected pace as they seemed to be moving into the more presitgous part of the city. The buildings were taller and more colorful, the people carried themselves differently and their attire was elegant. They were approaching the Daimyo's quarters and Zibishi was finally becoming at ease with the mission. Hopefully he wasn't a hardass like his Chuunin leader or this would be slightly difficult though whatever was required Zibishi was confident in himself.

He walked past Zammy as she stopped and apparently she was impressed or shocked by his last name. Could he have earned a little respect from the women just, because of his name? Eh Zibishi chuckled loud enough for her to hear as he continued on to towards the Daimyo's place which was what he expected. Resembled a fortess, with a beautiful garden and scenery. He wouldn't mind living here.

He looked back towards the Chuunin and began tapping his foot as she finally caught up to him and he wondered what had caused her to go deep into thought like that. He followed her up the stairs and the stone cold glares of the guards did not affect his demeanor or put him on edge as they approached the door and Zammy knocked and shot a command to him.

"Flower Girl eh? I'll make sure I'll pick you a few on the way home so you won't be so bitchy now look sharp Zammy."

He chuckled once more and then his face turned to stone as he awaited for the door to open and for the mission to truely begin.

A Capitol is a building. Namely, the one that houses the government. The Capital is the city...

Yoshi Rie watched the ninja approach his 'home' from the safety of his throne - there was a large screen embedded into the wall panel to his left showcasing the spectacle. His headdress, the color of ocean water, hung down to his ankles, and was made of thick, satin like material. His thin face was sallow and pockmarked, and his weak chin was topped with a thick tuft of black hair. Bulbous eyes sat aside an aquiline nose, and his mouth, lips as thin as paper, was curled into a dour frown. A single man joined him in the throne room.

"Those damned shinobi are here... Kiku, go and tend them. Send in the full regalia - I need my robe to match my hat, and instruct the full guard to come as well. Can't show those blood thirsty cretins any weakness.

Kiku was one of his retainers - a young, impressionable one - but he was politically savvy and level-headed, a far cry from the Daimyou who was prone to violent fits and outbursts. That was why his mother, Yoshi Midori, before she passed, had appointed young Kiku to his position. That was six years ago, and now Rie was the Daimyou in the wake of the disaster and Kiku, just recently turned twenty seven, was in his rightful place.

"Hai, Rie," Kiku was one of few people who the Daimyou call him by his first name. Rie didn't like it - he was beyond pompous - but he accepted it, because Kiku had once held his mother's favor. Quickly, Kiku rushed from the room.

He'd just left the Captain of the Guard when Noriko, one of the many concubines seized after the Great Flash, came running up to him, her long brown hair bouncing as she ran.

"Kiku! Shinobi are he-"

"Shh!" He put a hand to her mouth, muffling her voice."I know. Go and help the others in the kitchens." She appeared alternatively apologetic and annoyed - no one liked cooking... not for the Daimyou.

"Bu-"

"Go!" He sent her off, running a slightly damp hand through his thick shock of black hair. Noriko, Azumi, Kasumi... they all preferred Kiku. Not because he was young and handsome, but because he could be short without being insulting - because he knew what to say and when to say it, and he said it because he meant it, not because he wanted something.

Damn, my palms are sweating already... He and a pair of guards jogged from the entrance hall through the courtyard and to the gates beyond, through the faux house, and down the spiral stairwell only to come out behind a false wall in the foyer of the faux house. Kiku didn't approve of all the deception, but he had little choice in the matter - Rie was the Daimyou.

He was just the man that cleaned up all the problems.

Finally, he and the two guards arrived at the door. It was thrice his height almost, and fashioned from the oakwood in the forest, cut and polished for 'free' by the local carpenter. He was certain the time and money spent to make it would have been better going to the people - yes, they'd rebuilt much of the city now, thanks to Kiku, but there was much left to do... like placating dangerous shinobi. With a flourish, he opened the door

"Greetings, shinobi of Kirigakure." He didn't show it, but he was somewhat disappointed. He'd hoped to meet the Mizukage - what he got instead was a young girl - though pretty - and an even younger boy. "Please, come in." He stepped back to allow them entrance. "I am Kawatsuchi Kiku, head retainer for the Daimyou.

"We have a meal prepared for you... if you would join me in the dining hall?" You should have come here yourself Rie...

He led them down a myriad of halls, up a staircase, through a false wall, and down a smaller set of stairs into a room grander than anything they'd yet to see in Kirigakure. One had to think where the money was coming from... and how the capital had managed to escape the same widespread destruction apparent across the rest of the country.

The table could seat thirty easy, and the chandeliers sparkled like crystals in moonlight. The soft tones of a grand piano wafted through the room, accompanied by the smell of freshly baked buttered bread and seasoned meat. The walls were adorned with golden torches, and a mural dedicated to the Yoshi family hung on the far wall. Three women waited at the end of the table, away from the congregation of chairs. They smiled brightly, if a bit dumbly, as the shinobi walked in.

"The Daimyou will be arriving shortly. Is there anything I can help you with?"

Kiku wasn't chosen for his skill alone, no - Yoshi Midori chose him to assist her son because he was just ambitious enough, but not too ambitious... But that was then, before the Great Flash, and before he realized how little Rie thought of his ninja - the literal heart of his country.

"Greetings, shinobi of Kirigakure."

The door opened to a pleasant tone, but a skeptical countenance. Was this man wary of kunoichi, like herself? The girl could only imagine why, for those without the upbringing of the shinobi lifestyle tended to be hostile towards it. Her thoughts were interrupted as the man moved aside to allow them entrance, and Zamarron stepped inside, following him in his wake rather closely as to analyze his movements. They were purposeful, dominant even, as if to suggest he held a place of power within this house. Certainly he couldn't be the Daimyou, himself?

To her dissapointment the man formally introduced himself to her and her subordinate as Kawatsuchi Kiku, no doubt his proper name. Promptly afterwards he proceeded to further invite them into the dining hall. Zamarron rejected the urge to gag- they weren't expected to sit over a meal with their mission's subject, were they? The thought was filled with an irritation too intense for words. Nevertheless, she followed the man through a labrynth of a residence, and all the while the vixen kept quiet. Albeit a rude gesture, she was never one for small talk, and if this man wasn't the Daimyou, there was no need for conversation.

The dining hall was massive, and decadent; chandeliers scintillated brilliantly as if stars against a night sky, and the table was rather sizeable, able to seat at least thirty guests. A painting drew her eye against the far wall, as art always did, for it was the only thing able to capture the dark witch's heart. But rather than analyzing it to fully appreciate it's beauty, Zamarron continued to observe her surroundings. Three women smiled at them vividly, suggesting bright personalities but dull wits. The chuunin narrowed her eyes. She didn't mind in the slightest the women who put their bodies to use, but she loathed the ones who ignored the potentials of their minds. People thought she was the definition of skank; at least she had a fucking brain.

But then her heart swelled; a piano was present. Suddenly the urge to run and spoil her fingers over the black and white keys surged through her- yet she kept still, intent on ignoring her gift in such a beautiful musical art. The Daimyou should be on his way, anyway.

To confirm her suspicion: "The Daimyou will be arriving shortly. Is there anything I can help you with?" Kiku inquired.

Zamarron shot Zibishi a quick look, before looking back to Kiku. "No, thank you," she replied simply. Nothing more was said.

Zibishi could feel the tension in Zammy's spirit the moment they enetered into the door. Diplomatic missions required one to be cool and collected so Zibishi would fill that role completely. He stepped in through the large doorway and was taken aback by the sights and construction of the place. He wondered how many hours it took to find this type of wood and marble and what architect was able to combine the two elements together so flawlessly? He bet whoever it was, was paid handsomely. The man who opened the door received a kurt nod from Zibishi as he saw Zammy offer him none. The mission was to improve relations not keep up the stigmas as Shinobi being arrogant and violent blowharts. This would place him back on her bad side, but it would need to be done.

He stepped forward presumingly taking the lead as he followed behind the man still analyzing the structures, pictures, and servants. Though the house was completely beautiful Zibishi defintely wouldn't have minded to have a more humble and subtle daimyo. This one seemed flashy and something in his gut told him that the daimyo wasn't going to be happy to entertain them. Zibishi forgot for a moment the man, Kiku, had offered his name and Zibishi had not returned the gesture.

"The name is Zibishi, just Zibishi and this is a magnificent hall I bet it took years to build."

The Sansutsomu clan wasn't in good favor with everyone and Zibishi didn't want his family ties to further complicate the mission. It was unfortunate, but the Daimyo's servants and the Shinobi were from completely different worlds evident by the state of each location. Kirigakure, locked in despair albeit slowly moving out of it and this prosperous place still glowing like nothing had ever happened. It did not enrage Zibishi like it might've others, because it was simply the luck of the draw.

As Kiku led them on towards the dining hall, Zibishi offered many polite gestures and innocent questions about the structures and beauties though in his mind he was forging the conclusion the daimyo would be difficult to deal with unless all he was an eye for art. The thought of a meal excited him and looked towards Zammy and almost giggled, because he knew from her earlier actions this would not be her type of party, but the thought of a well cooked meal excited Zibishi as they entered into the hall and Zibishi was once again taken aback.

As he moved to his seat he offered a wink to the three servant girls who all chuckled and wondered aloud who was his gesture meant for. They weren't the brightest, but they were very gorgeous though he found himself more attracted to Zammy to them which surprised him. The Chuunin shot a glare towards him and Zibishi only offered her a smile and responded to Kiku.

"Nay lets just hope the daimyo has an eye for chefs like he does art."

How... rude.

Kiku knew then that he had no use for this shinobi - she reminded him of Midori-sama, Kami rest her soul, for she too had a similar dour disposition to those she believed beneath her, until they proved themselves. Kiku, however, wasn't about to prove himself to a shinobi; not this one, at least. In the manner of government, he was her superior, despite her ability to kill him before he could blink. Hmm, I wonder what kind of person the lad is...

The boy introduced himself as Zibishi. "Nice meeting you, Zibishi, and yes, it took quite a while. The construction started several years ago - it has only just recently finished." And now people are starving in the streets. "Our decadent city escaped with minimal damage during the war, and what was damaged was quickly repaired."

Noriko, Azumi and Kasumi swept through a pair of double-doors into the kitchen and out again with trays full of food. Their bright smiles never dimmed, not once, as if they genuinely enjoyed their task. Kiku took the time to make himself comfortable, sitting in his place near the head of the table.

"That mural has been in the family for quite a while, my young friend. Long before I was employed. You see that little boy there, in the far right corner? That is the Daimyou - he was younger than you when that was painted." He reached out a hand an grasped Azumi by her wrist as she passed by.

"Bring out the vintage, will you please?" She nodded before scurrying off into the kitchens.

Kiku sat with his legs crossed, one hand resting on his knee and the other laying across it. He had a note in his left breast pocket, sealed and stamped not with the Yoshi name, but with the Kawatsuchi name. It was a note for the Mizukage.

"Zibishi, before the Damyou arrives," He reached into his pocket and pulled out the note. "When you return home, could you give this to your Kage for me please?"

He thanked the lad, and not a moment to soon, for the doors opened and a line of guards - eight - walked in, followed by four more, and finally Rie himself, in his azure-robed splendor.

"Ahh, Kiku! I see you have the shinobi situated." He had a wide grin plastered on his pockmarked face, but he couldn't keep a hint of derision from leaking into his voice. Kiku held in a wince.

Within a few minutes the guards were situated and the Daimyou was seated.

"Now," he began, after finished his meal, and his 6th glass, "what is it that you ninja want?" His eyes had started to redden, but he wasn't quite drunk. Only a bit loose-lipped.

Kiku figured this suited him just as well.

Zamarron winced as Zibishi introduced himself to Kiku.

Is he always so damn... friendly?

They continued on, Zamarron still leading the pursuit of their host while her subordinate proceeded to have a conversation with the man. Ugh... perhaps, she simply wasn't blessed with the personality for these kinds of missions. Her Kage, an old friend, should know her better, shouldn't he? Yet he had given her direct orders to- to socialize. She contemplated letting Zibishi take control of things... but only for a moment. Then she remembered who she was; she wasn't about to give up her place of power over the boy.

Three women burst through the doors then, each balancing trays of food on each hand. Zamarron frowned; calories. Hopefully she wouldn't be invited to eat. Kiku took a seat at the head of the table- another sign of power- but Zamarron remained standing. No one had invited her to sit, and she had grown up within painfully strict walls. She shot Zibishi yet another glare as to follow her lead.

Their attention was soon directed to the mural, of course by Kiku, who went on into a short lecture of it's history. The musician looked over, taking advantage of the oppurtunity to appreciate the work of art. Whoever painted it had not only definately known what they had been doing, what with the technical aspects of it, but they had also felt what they had been painting. The woman could tell, in the richly colored swirls and the way the texture went from silky to rough. It was hate, it was pure joy- Zamarron briefly wondered if the painter had been bipolar. It didn't matter though; the mural made her feel, as Art always did. She genuinely wondered who this great artist was, but not only could she not read the small signature from so far away, she didn't dare to bring up such a subject on a matter of business.

The vixen's gaze focused back on Kiku, and her mouth almost dropped wide open. He was giving Zibishi a note- a note for the Mizukage! Rage bubbled up inside her, and she could feel her face turn scarlet. As Zibishi accepted the request, she wanted to scream. Her fists began shaking, however slight. But then, and idea hit her, and she calmed down. The mental note was taken, and was to be played out in the future once she and Zibishi had left.

Then the doors opened yet again, and in came several gaurds, followed by the Daimyou himself. Excitement swept up Zamarron's spine; this was it. Utilizing her acting skills, she put on her sweetest smile, even through his unpleasant emphasis on the word shinobi. She noticed his eyes were slightly crimson and his face a tad flushed. It was obvious he was a bit intoxicated. But this was good news to Zamarron, for obviously this great man loved women, with so many milling about the place doing nothing but looking pretty, of course for his pleasure, or so Zamarron assumed. Yet she wasn't sure he would be a fan of the brilliant dark beauty she possessed; the other women were a lot brighter...

After the Daimyou addressed the two ninja, it was the kunoichi who would speak first.

"To start," she said. "I am Zamarron, and this is Zibishi." She gestured towards the boy. "We are pleased to make your acquaintance. But we want nothing. It is what we need. As you well know, our village is in need of... assistance."

She refused the urge to look at the floor, hating the notion of her great Kage- and dear friend- having to ask such a man for help. Yet she continued on.

"So, I implore you... that of a man of such great power and high status, that you please aid us."

Her eyes sparkled brilliantly at that moment, adding to her charm; a trick she had learned from her mother. Would her beauty encourage the Daimyou to do as she so kindly asked, or would it be deemed void?

He listened to Kiku speech and simply nodded his head respectfully while taking in his words. He took his seat graciously and awaited as the food was brought towards him and it was an assortment of varied seafood and vegetables. The Genin was not overly hungry and did not want to indulge himself, but he gladly ate a decent portion out of respect. There was a certain way to go about diplomatic situations and though Zibishi was just now hitting puberty, he understood the delicate concept fully.

His eyes shifted to the mural and he couldn't help, but find something comical about the early images of the daimyo. He was sure that the leader's spirit and physical appearance had changed much from the time the mural was drawn, but it was beautiful matching the feel of the dining and the daimyo's residence in general. The genin looked down towards his foot and slowly, but surely began to ate careful not make any slurping sounds or cause a mess.

He looked up and gently wiped his mouth of any crumbs as he took the note from Kiku and examined it for a moment before placing it in a secure pouch on his belt. He shot a glance and smirk towards Zammy thinking in his head, see what being nice will do for you?. He could see the blood rush to her head and he thought he felt a sense of jealousy? Nay it was probably just her pride, but Zibishi was becoming entertained with the fact none the less.

He offered a kurt nod towards Kiku as his light blue eyes drifted towards the doorway and to the presence of the daimyo andhis stunning set of guards. They were all equally impressive and the entrance was just as impressive as well. He could tell from the way the daimyo walked and carried himself that he was a proud man and he would try to take advantage of the Shinobi's situation or at least flaunt his power enough and go on a ego trip.

The hiss in his voice when he uttered the words "shinobi" and "ninja" only confirmed his notion that the situation was only going to be even more difficult. Kiku seemed to be the more reasonable and calm one and Zibishi wished he was dealing with him, but it was out of his hands as he readjusted his posture in his seat and listened to the Chuunin speak to the daimyo. Her tone and words would only inflate his ego and further make their situation complicated. The genin boy cleared his throat and prepared to chime in.

"Mizu No Kuni and Kirigakure No Sato are two seperate entities, almost two seperate worlds, but both cannot reach their full potential without the other. A country with a strong military force is already a force to be reckoned with, but a country with a strong military and Shinobi force is an even greater power. To strengthen one is to strengthen the other, and while this a humbling position you as a politician should know that while Mizu No Kuni is a great nation, it is even greater with the strength of Kirgakure backing it. Basically help us help you, aid our village and in the process aid your own country, towns, and villages. Unity will be our greatest assest."

He cleared his throat once more and hoped he didn't ramble as he looked towards Kiku and then towards Zammy ignoring he previous glares and glances. Zibishi was headstrong and believed in himself and his understanding. Though he wasn't familiar with the Mizukage he was sure he didn't want the two of them to grovel at least if Zibishi was kage thats not what he would want. He awaited the daimyo's response with a calm look in his eyes that made him seem years older than he really was.

She's a good actor.. Kiku knew that the sunny disposition showcased by Zamarron was fake - not after the treatment he had received. She knew I wasn't the Daimyou and didn't waste her breath speaking to me... He shook his head ruefully. Just like a shinobi. She hadn't even sat at the table, unlike Zibishi, who had seemed charmed by Kiku's charisma.

Rie, however, had very different thoughts.

Finally I can put these shinobi in their place!

Kiku had been waiting for this. In the years he'd known Rie, the man had never cared for shinobi, always thought them to be primitive and barbaric, with their devilish magic and stringent rules and general murderous behavior. And, of course, there was the message left for Rie that Asumi had shown him - the message from Hitso Mitsuru - a message he was sure the Mizukage would want to know about.

"You want aid, you say, little missy? Assistance?" He paused and took a long pull from his glass, smacking his lips as he finished. "So very good... and you, boy, what was it you said... something about unity?"

He looked around the room, gaining confidence when he saw again the guards lining the walls. They were perhaps only genin level combatants, but there were many of them - certainly more guards than ninja. His own spies - failed ninja - had told him that the new Mizukage was but a teenager, and that very few powerful shinobi remained loyal to the village, or had even survived the war.

"Tell your Kage that there is no Kirigakure no Sato! I am done funding your murderous campaigns! You have helped nothing! Saved, nothing! You are the scum of this world, and your time is done, NOW LEAVE!"

Kiku wasn't surprised at his outburst... it was a long time coming. "Asumi!" The Daimyou yelled. " Show the shinobi out."

Rie was confident that he was untouchable. He had a full garrison of guards, though his most skilled had perished, and he'd hired Hitso Mitsuru and his gang to provide protection until he was ready to deal with the Mizukage, and rid himself of Kirigakure and all the problems that came with it.

"Tell your Kage that there is no Kirigakure no Sato! I am done funding your murderous campaigns! You have helped nothing! Saved, nothing! You are the scum of this world, and your time is done, NOW LEAVE!"

Once more, fury swept through the vixen's physique, even as the Daimyou spoke. Her face flushed deep crimson, and her eyes narrowed into slits. How DARE he?! Helped NOTHING?! Saved NOTHING?! She as a medic, had been completely insulted. If his goal was to piss her the fuck off, well then, congratulations; he had done it. He had awakened the temper of the Devil, himself.

"Enough!" she bellowed, her voice projecting off the walls to further embellish it's strength.

She had interrupted the Daimyou before he had had a chance to kick them out of his residence, and if he still had, then Zamarron would simply ignore it and continue.

"Scum of the world?" she seethed. "Look at you, a drunken fool of a man; you've turned yourself into a halfwit. Do not insult the ways of a shinobi." Her words were a hiss.

Then suddenly she couldn't control it- without her consent chakra was gathered into her left fist, and before she knew it she slammed it backwards and into the wall that stood behind her, releasing her deadly temper, as well as the chakra stored within her hand. No doubt the wall had succumbed to her strength, and a gaping hole had been left where it had once stood. As it crumbled, Zamarron's eyes never left the Daimyou.

"You'll regret this," she growled. "Come, Zibishi."

And the woman led herself out of the great house, her memory of it's halls serving her well.

Zibishi propped his arm on the table and then relaxed his face on his palm as he heard the daimyo utter such rude and unpleasant words to him. Surely he held more respect for them then this, but it couldn't be helped as the man seemed to be completely ignorant of what Zibishi or Zammy had said. He had wished he had spoken first, but he couldn't blame the Chuunin for expecting sympathy from such a spineless creature, but he could feel a sensation coming from Zammy and his eyes slowly moved towards her, petrified as she began her response.

Even he could feel her blood boiling and knew her response would be impulsive which would only make things even worse. As she yelled enough Zibishi's mind went into damage control and analysis as he looked at the number of guards and wondered if the daimyo would dare to be hostile with them?

As she threw her retort of insults back towards the daimyo Zibishi slowly began rising from his seat as he could feel her chakra spiking and knew things were about to go downhill as his fist crashed through the marble wall sending dust and small crumbs of the element across the floor. Zibishi coughed for a moment and watched as she stalked off and expected him to follow behind.

The daimyo was playing mind games and flaunting his authority and the Shinobi couldn't go away quietly and not in this manner. He coughed and placed his fist in front of his mouth as he began to pace. He put up his finger signaling Zammy to wait and if she didn't he would simply catch up, he was fast enough that it wouldn't be a problem.
