One against Many

Description: A group of thieves just south of the village have gathered within a small cave, they've stolen a slew of medical supplies from one of Amegakure's convoy's. Locate these thieves and bring back those medical supplies. Try to be discreet, however, if that is not possible, use any means necessary to eliminate the threat.

“Shit, finally a mission that will involve some type of combat.”

I would say to myself as I read over the mission scroll, as I got to the bottom of the paper I would notice that arrive at the gates of the village. It had been awhile since I had left the village since I’ve been here, this would actually be the first time. I would stop just outside the gates waving to the guards that were posted up at our gates, they would wave to me as they made their way over to me.

“So where are you going? And who’s going with you?”

The man had been a couple inches smaller than myself as he had to look up to address me, my hand would make its way to the back of my head as I wondered to myself where Yui had been. As my hand fell from the back of my head I would place them into my pockets.

“Well I’m waiting on Yui, and we’ve been sent to catch up with some common thieves.”

As I told the man who I was waiting for a small smile would cross his face as he remembered us from the other day when we were mapping out the village together,

“Yeah that Yui, she’s a good kid.. I hope you’re aren’t up to any bull shit kid.”

As the man spoke I would laugh slightly because I wans’t used to be address me in that manor, but I figured that he was just being protective of Yui. I would exhale as I began my hand made it’s way out of my pocket once again, as I placed my hand on the back of my head I would being to scramble the hair around on the back of my head. I didn’t quite know how to respond to what he said because I wasn’t sure if he understood the relationship that I shared with Yui.

“Well you don’t have to worry man, she’s like my sister…. I wouldn’t wanna fuck that up for any stupid reason ya know?”

I would say as I looked off towards the gates hoping that I would see Yui making her exit into the rain country.

Yui trudged down the road in the early morning light making her way to the village's gates. She yawned stiffly and stretched her legs out with each stride she took. Her hair was something similar to a mess and her eyes were red with weariness. The whole concept of the morning was something she had nearly forgotten about in her travels across the lands. Getting back into good shinobi habits was proving more difficult than she had anticipated. Still, she was somewhat proud of herself for being more productive with her life. But it didn't do much to improve her mood much, she was going to have ease into the morning with this walk to the mission.

Her and her partner, Ichi, were out to retrieve some greatly needed supplies from a small band of arrogant thieves. They had both agreed upon waking up early and setting out to get the jump on them before they would know what hit them. This mission could be considered dangerous but Yui had seen Ichi take out one scumbag before and was fully confident in his capabilities. She also had confidence in herself for dealing with pesky nuisances like this. Besides, the men were hurting innocent by cutting off the chain of supply. Naturally, they would likely die.

She stretched her arms out high into the air closing her eyes as she came into view at the gates. Prying one sleepy eye open she spied Ichi and the guard from the other day and smiled warmly. "I don't know how you guys do this morning stuff. It's killing me to be up this early, let alone going to work!" she said sleepily. As she strode up beside Ichi the guard held out a cup of coffee offering it to Yui.

"Most of us use chemicals. Here, give it a try."

She smiled accepting the cup and sipping gently before closing her eyes in pleasure. "Mmmm I can see exactly what you mean. Thank you very much." She turned to Ichi and raised a quizzical eye brow, "Well than shall we set off Ichi? We're burning the morning light after all."

As Yui made her grand exit from the gate a smile had crossed my face, it was good to see she wasn’t too late. As she made her way over to us the other guard that we had met the other day was heading over to us as well, he would be holding up a cup a coffee in his hand as my partner finally met up with us. She had looked as if she just crawled out of bed, as she complained about the waking up in the morning the guard had handed a steaming hot cup of coffee to her. As she suggested that we take our leave I would lead take the first couple of steps off hoping that she would walk along with me, I would place my hands in my pocket as we began down what was supposed to be the path that would lead to the small caverns the thief’s were last seen in.

“So Yui, yesterday I saw you manipulating shadows… I didn’t know you were a Nara.”

The words would fall from my mouth as we walked along the damp path that seemingly had no end, as we walked I figured I would take this time to get to know a little more about Yui’s ability’s as a ninja. It was something that I deemed necessary because from the looks of things we were going to be doing a lot of shit together. I couldn’t just run in not knowing what she was truly capable because she could be stronger than me, I would twiddle my finger around my pocket for a sec as a bunch of random thoughts ran through my head.

“And if that’s true then that must mean you have some type of ties to the village Konoha… “

I would say shortly before shortly after I made my first statement.

"See you soon, and thanks again for the coffee!" Yui said waving a fond farewell to the guard and joining Ichi at his side on the road out. It was a fine morning in the rain country, the sun was showing and as always it was raining. Though today the rain did not fall heavily, instead it seemed like a very light mist was beginning to fall. Possibly premonitions of a heavier rainfall later in the day once the heavy clouds rolled back in, but for now it was pleasant. Yui drank her coffee cautiously and gratefully, feeling the warmth and energy spread through her body.

She turned and smiled cheekily at Ranshi, "Well... you never asked." She kept a good stride walking beside him casually. If the argument had been an excuse for him it certainly would work for her, though she truly doubted either one was mad at the other for having their own little secrets tucked out of sight and out of mind. "But, now that you bring it up I should be honest with you right now and tell you that I'm not of the Nara clan."

She ran a hand up through the forefront of her hair combing backwards with her fingers to try and straighten it out somewhat with the aid of the light misting rain. It started to work, but tangles and knots were certainly slowing her down as she went about the task. "Though you are correct, I do have some ties to Konoha. You remember when I told you my mother took my brother and I and fled the village? Well we traveled around a lot like nomads looking for a decent home. One of the longest stops we made was in Konoha. We managed to seek refuge in the village for a time there."

Still combing her hair Yui looked forward staring off into blank space as she continued in an apathetic voice, "She was so silly. She kept saying things like, 'the more we move the longer it'll take for him to find us.' Days turned into weeks turned into months turned into seasons turned into years. Every morning she just stared out the window towards the rising sun looking for him. I couldn't stand seeing her that way, so I just started to sleep in..."

As she made her first remark I laughed slightly, it had seemed that her sense of humor had been pretty similar to mind. As I listened to her story I couldn’t help but to think of my own story with my brother, well at least the way she felt about her father. I could sympathies with her on the topic because I often felt the same way when my brother left me behind, I just wanted him to come back. But after a while all of those thought began to fade and shimmer away like dreams, and all that love began to turn to hate it was like my dreams were becoming nightmares. ‘I hope she hasn’t lost faith too.’ I thought to myself as a brief silence fell upon us we walked along the path, the light rain had seemed to halt for a second.

“Well, if you lived in Konoha I’m surprised we never met.”

I would say as I we walked trying to lightning the moment a bit, I would take my arm and throw it around her shoulder while we walked. I wasn’t trying to hurt or seduce her in any way it was more of a friendly gesture, my other hand would make its way towards the back of my head and proceed to scruff up my hair quite a bit.

“Well don’t think about it too much Yui, I’ve learned that it could be nerve racking to think about such things over a long period of time.”

I would take a slight pause as we came upon what looked like two separate paths, I would halt for a second to read the signs. As I realized which way we were supposed to go I would pull her off in that direction, I wasn’t sure how Yui was going to react to me getting so close. But I figured that she wouldn’t mind and if she did I could just move my arm, but if she didn’t have a problem I would continue to walk along the path with her.

“Yeah so, about that Uchiha thing… My mom is an Uchiha, my dad which is where I get my surname from is just a regular extraordinary Ninja ya know? And the reason I didn’t tell you about it because I never thought it was too important, and most people look down on my heritage for some reason I don’t know.”

I would pause for a second as I notice a small cavern along the path I was walking on.

“Oh and it look like we’re here.”

"You lived in Konoha too? That is strange then that we never met. Admittedly I was only there for nearly four years and we were trying to stay hidden for some reason. I was young and naive at the time, so I don't have all of the fact straight before I left. I do remember that my mother was adamant that I blend in with the children. I don't know... maybe we weren't even supposed to be there."

As Ichi put his arm around Yui, she grinned with evil at the corner of her lip. "No funny business now, brother." She made sure to emphasize the word brother as a reminder to Ichi. The only kind of bonds she longer for right now, were the bonds a family made. Unity, friendship, and good will with no intention of favors to be returned. Anything more would just complicate things, she didn't have the luxury to be tied down. Not when any day she could find the next big clue to her father's location and leave without a word to anyone in the village.

"But you're probably right," she continued shoving her hands into her pockets as they strolled along the road, "Nothing good ever seems to come from thinking about such things constantly. I guess I just obsess to much over it sometimes. That's why this village has been good to me so far. Always work to do in rebuilding it back to what it used to be. Keeps the mind occupied and the senses sharp you know?"

The fork in the road came up, and Yui drained the last of her coffee before delicately placing the small metal cup into her pack. As Ichi lead them down the second path, Yui would shrug off his arm and stretch her arms high to the sky while also stretching her legs and whole body like a cat. She then walked beside Ichi listening intently to him about the Uchiha factor. She hadn't asked because from her time spent in Konohagakure she had heard both good and bad about the uchiha

"I've heard mixed tales about the Uchiha myself. Some tales of heroism others of villainy. They strike me as a force to be reckoned with, but each among your family must choose their own destiny. Just as each man and woman must make their own. I'm sure you'll make the right choices one way or the other." She patting him reassuringly on the back as he came to a pause looking ahead.

"Alright, how would you like to go about this? I'd like to just collapse the cave myself, but we need those supplies..."

“Well, I’d like to think these guys couldn’t be more than common criminals.”

I would say as placed my hand in my pack; I would withdraw a single Kunai that would host a tag on its hilt. I wasn’t sure of how I wanted to go about getting rid of them since we couldn’t just go crazy with Jutsu cause we didn’t want to damage the medical product, I would take a couple of steps in front of Yui as I looked at the cavern from the base of the small mountain it was on. I would use the back of the Kunai to scratch my head a little before turning back to my partner,

“So all in all I think we could maximize our efficiency buy just cutting them down, I don’t know how opposed you’re to killing but I do so for the right reasons.”

I would say as I began to move towards the base of the mountain that the carvern was on, I would hop that Yui wasn’t too far behind me as I focused a bit of chakra to my feet. As I placed my right on the wall I would turn to Yui presenting here with a slight smile, I knew that I couldn’t let anything happen to someone that thought of me as there brother. Those were type of bonds that I held close to my heart and could only be broken by betrayal and Yui didn’t seem like the type,

“Ayy don’t take your time now Yui, Let’s dismantle this fools so we can head back home.”

I’d say before I would begin my sprint up the side of the wall, I wasn’t sure who or what was waiting for me at the top but it didn’t matter at this point. As I scaled the rough terrain I would slow as I reached the cliff of the mountain, I would grab on the ledge pulling myself up slightly over it so I could see what was going on. ‘Ahh they set up camp in here.’ I thought to myself as I could see a bunch of guys standing around a fire just inside of the cave, I wasn’t sure what kind of criminals they were but they didn’t look too hostile. ‘Come on now, I thought they were going to at least pose some type of threat.

“Yui, this shouldn’t be difficult at all.. These guys look like a set of clowns.”

I would say as I looked over my shoulder assuming she was behind or beside me, I would clutch the tagged within my teeth as I pulled myself up over the mountain side making a grand entrance. My face would covered with a childish smile though due to my freakish height most people thought I was much older than I was,

“Now come on guys, what the fuck were you thinking stealing from Ame? It wasn’t so smart now you gotta deal with me.”

I would say as I looked over there small platoon it was made up of about ten guys that looked as they’ve been through some hard times, but none of them looked like nothing I couldn’t handle with my eyes closed.

"Alright, just be careful with that tag Ichi. We don't want to cause any sort of cave in and ruin the medical supplies you know. Otherwise this whole mission has been for nothing but punishing weak fools not worth time. Think of the lives that could be lost if we're not careful!" Yui urged as her she spied the tag on the kunai Ichi held comfortably in his hand.

Whether Ichi heard her or not was yet to be determined as he already began to scale up towards the cavern. She followed him up the side quickly and quietly and in no time at all they were peering down into the cavern. Ichi was right, it was remarkable this scruffy looking fellows had managed a theft at all really. But desperation did breed the will and determination to make impossible things much more possible.

Ichi looked back at Yui, who looked on waiting for instruction but it was a waste of time to wait for Ichi merely smiled and leaped into the cavern. Yui sighed and shook her head forming a short string of three hand seals, "Whatever happened to subtlety." With that she melted right into the wall itself and began to literally swim through the stone.

She swam behind the strange mob of men and towards the back of the cave sensing vibrations through the earth she waited for the action to start. Once the battle was joined and the thieves were engaging Ichi she knew what to do. Hopefully Ichi lived up to the ideal she had for him in her mind and wouldn't mind handling them alone for a time since they seemed like clowns as Ichi had correctly observed.

“Ehh, who the fuck are you loser?”

One of the men would speak out as he stepped in front of the large group, a smile would cross my face while the Kunai was still wedged between my teeth. I could feel my adrenaline picking up slightly as my Chakra began to funnel to my eyes, ‘I know this is over kill but.’ I thought to myself as fully mature Sharingan was displayed within my eyes, the tomoe would rotate around the most central pupil. \

“Your worst nightmare.”

I’d say before I jetted off towards the man ripping the Kunai from my mouth with my left hand, I would close the distance between myself and the man that seemed to be the leader of the pack in a matter of seconds. As I arrived at his most frontal flank I would deliver a swift swing across the center of the mans chest causing blood to squirt from the wound, I would exhale as I located my next target. It had seemed the men had been in somewhat of a shock. ‘I guess they didn’t see this coming.’ I thought to myself as I jetted towards the next closes goon, I would quickly toss the Kunai directly for the man’s head aiming to take him down in one stripe. And that I did as the Kunai entered his head with extreme force, by the time the man began falling to the ground his comrades were all closing in on me.

“woops!”

The words would fall from mouth lightly as I quickly notice the incoming assault, my hands would quickly come together to form a couple of handseals. By the time I was finished the men had seemingly cut the space between us to nothing, I would quickly inhale before I would exhale a powerful stream of water. As I exhaled the jet of water I would aim for the two that were closes to the edge of the cliff, I would keep the torrent of water on top of the two men until I was able to get out of the small crowd while pushing them off the cliff to their death.

“Ehh.”

I would let a small sigh as I quickly readjusted myself back to the six men that were left, ‘Where is Yui.’ I thought to myself as I stood there momentarily. It had seemed that some of the men wised up because they were trying to escape, ¬¬and that was cool I didn’t need to kill all of them only those who opposed me. But of course there was always that one guy who thought he was the shit, and he was the last one standing.

“You think you’re tough, You must really think you’re tough. Well guess what I know Ninjutsu as well.”

A smile would cross my face as the man peered in to my eyes, one of the biggest mistakes a person could ever make. Because as he began his set of seals I started a pair of my own, once I was done all of the man’s movements stopped. He would seemingly lose his balance as he fell over, I would walk past him towards the cave that was supposed to have the materials in it.

“Yui! You in here?”

Beneath the ground trembling vibrations made their way to Yui who smiled at the thought of Ichi aggravating them all at the same time. It was time for her to make her move and so Yui melted back up from the ground in the far corner of the cave as the battle began. She paused to watch Ichi battle the first target or too before smiling smugly, confident in his ability to handle the rest on his own. She on the other hand slipped through the shadows during the destruction and chaos and instead searched the cavern for where the supplies may have gotten too.

It wasn't long before some of the scum changed their battle plan to flight as opposed to fight. They began scrambling in all directions trying to get out of the way but one of them acted peculiarly. Yui crept up from behind him using rocks, and odd wall angle to conceal her approach before peering over the man's shoulders. He was hunched over a box leafing through something but what Yui couldn't quite make out.

"Got it!" he stood upright holding the medical supplies in question and turning about to try and make a run for it with his salvaged rewards. That was of course when he came face to face with Yui who stood barring his exit. He smiled and tried to reach for his sword to attack the little girl but found that his body would not obey his commands.

"And I've got you." Yui said maliciously. Making a movement as if to toss, the man's body found no will of its own as it tossed the supplies over to Yui who in turn caught it forcing the man's body to act as though he caught something. Though nothing but air was received. "Right then, clear out of here as soon as I let you, or I'll let my buddy over there making his interior decorating of this cave just a little more colorful." A scream and sprint for the nearest exit was all he managed as the shadow binding released him.

With the man's terrified scream, Yui's position would be revealed to Ichi. She turned and waved the supplies at him from the dark corner. "Got the supplies Ichi. Nice work with the scumbags down here, I didn't get to catch all of the show," she came up the inclining floor into the light to stand beside him. "But what I did catch was liquid cool. And the reviews were just screaming for more." She said smirking and gesturing with a thumb back into the cave where the terrified and panicked men looked for any place of escape.

As I spotted Yui in the corner of the cave waving the supplies around in the air a smile would cross my face, I wasn’t sure how she got into the cave but it didn’t matter as long as she was alright. The sound of men scarrying around the entire cave was like music to my ears, ‘I guess she showed the what it is.’ I thought to myself as Yui made her way to the exit of the cave, as she spoke of my little scuffle I had with the guy’s outside I’d just laugh it off.

“It was too easy.”

I would say with a childish smile upon my face, it was nice to hear someone admire what I was capable of. As he pointed into the cave I would deactivate my sharingan allowing my eyes to return to their onyx color. ‘Guess our work here is done.’ I thought to myself as I turned away from the cave, I would reach out my hand towards Yui offering my help, if she had chose to accept it I would take as much as I could for her before I made my way towards the cliff.

“Now let’s take this stuff back to the village, maybe we could grab a bite to eat. I got something I wanna talk to you about.”

By the time I was finished my statement I was at the edge of the cliff, I would look over the edge before turning back to Yui.

“I think we should take the walking path.”

I would say as a smile crossed my face,

Yui offered half the supplies to Ichi gratefully before casting a cursory glance back and over her shoulder into the caverns. No one was willing to pursue them after what had just happened which made this merely a matter of walking back to the village. "You're right, that was far too simple. Oh well, can't expect everything in life to be a challenge eh?"

Ichi turned and started on his way back with Yui following loyally behind her brother of sorts. It had been a good day and to celebrate Yui reached a free hand up and ruffled through her own hair. God damn it was a mess up there, but she knew it was in there somewhere. Finally she found it and pulled it out of her hair, holding the hand rolled spliff in between her fingers with utmost care. She walked up to the edge of the cliff and yawned at last coming to full awareness with the day.

"Hmmmm, I am getting a little peckish. I'm about to be even hungrier by the time we get back too so sure why not. Also the long way home sounds perfect but tell me first Ichi," She pinched the end of the verde spliff and focused passive katon chakra through it til the end glowed red. She pulled it right to her lips taking a generous drag before expelling a thick plume into the air. "Do you partake?" she finished coughing lightly with squinting eyes and a cheeky smile.
