I couldn't quite explain why I threw myself into shinobi work here. To keep my mind off my plight? To repay the Kazekage? To hone my skills? All were true, perhaps, to an extent. As I strode through the forest, graceful and aloof, my thoughts were elsewhere. The mission concerned me, of course, but, without sounding arrogant, I was a kage. I was doing grunt work, for the most part, and I did not doubt my skills. Still, I allowed myself a small smile at my chosen task. Such cruelty, sending shinobi to slay an innocent creature - this was her domain, was it not? What say had the Kazekage on her living here? I did not intend to kill such a beauty, merely to encourage her to relocate.

I closed my eyes as I walked, holding the familiar seal that brought the forest to life around me. Every living thing had some form of chakra, and I could see them all, sparkling in the darkness. She was a little like me, come to think of it. Beautiful and in her element, but unwanted, with those who sought to usurp her. Oh how cruel people could be to those different from them, to those they did not understand. Yes, perhaps she had killed people, but perhaps those people had provoked her, or simply wandered too close? Could she not be forgiven? Still, I would have to find her first.

I held my seal, walking delicately due to my lack of sight. I assumed that a powerful creature would be easy to detect, her chakra signature brighter and fiercer than that of the life around her. And - there she was. Canceling my jutsu, I slowed my pace, hearing her large form move through the flora. Now how to approach this? Firstly, by gaining her trust. With another singular handseal, my true form became clear, as four extra arms began to emerge from my flesh, pulling themselves out of my body as I stretched with relish. Though not uncomfortable while they were concealed, it was refreshing to be whole again.

Kagura Shingan is an advanced Sensory Ninjutsu technique used by all sensors, and serves as the root to the entire sensory tree. After performing the necessary handseal, the sensor closes their eyes and uses their innate ability to detect Chakra in order to determine the location of their opponent by the faintest of Chakra trails, as well as discerning the size of an approaching unseen force, and even their Chakra capacity.

This sensory technique can also discern whether or not a person is under the effects of a Genjutsu; which elements they have at their command (even advanced releases), and likewise mask their own Chakra signature (user’s) from other sensory ninja. The focus required to do the latter (masking their signature) prohibits their other sensing abilities, however.

Note: It should be noted that no other jutsu can be used while this technique is active. This jutsu requires Admin Approval. Restricted to Ninjutsu/Genjutsu Masters and Jack-of-all-trades. Consumes one release slot from Ninjutsu/Genjutsu Masters and either a release or fighting style slot from Jack-of-all-trades.

Intensely vain from a young age, Mitzy was always conscious of her four extra arms. Made painfully aware of her differences to most children, and of the fact that, with her freakish extra appendages, she could not be considered beautiful, the girl worked day and night to conceal them. It took her years of work, but finally, she developed a technique allowing her to retract her extra arms, effectively concealing them within her body. The same technique, when repeated, allows her four extra arms to emerge again, ready to be used in combat.

Note: The arms remain in their state until the technique is performed again, whether concealed or free. Takes one post for the four extra arms to emerge or retract fully, during which time they cannot be used, though the initial two arms are unaffected.

Oh, truly magnificent. As she stepped out from the cover of the trees, forward legs raised and fangs bared aggressively, I could not stifle a small gasp. It had been many years since I had seen a giant spider, the land of earth was not greatly populated with them, and I was shocked at finding out they resided near Sunagakure. But oh, one never quite got used to such an appearance. I brandished my own arms in turn, spreading my eight limbs wide and mirroring her stance. And then I watched. I had a vague idea of what she was planning, our combat preferences were similar, after all, but she could always surprise me.

"Don't be afraid, I shan't harm you," I said soothingly, my two eyes locked upon her eight. It truly broke my heart, to know that many shinobi sent here would unleash horror upon her - fire and weaponry. I would have to speak to the Kazekage about it, though perhaps I would seem rather ungrateful if I questioned his methods... The time to think of it was not now, as a torrent of silk thundered in my direction. Unlike our smaller cousins, who span via their spinnerets to the rear of the abdomen, the Sasanagi and the more powerful spiders could unleash our threads through our mouths. I narrowed my eyes, copying her exactly, and spitting a equal blast of sticky silk to meet her's in its flight.

Had she gotten the measure of me yet? I would need to make her acknowledge me as an equal, as one of her kind, before I could help her. My thoughts flickered briefly, turning homeward, to Iwagakure. Of course it was never far from my thoughts, but so intent as I was on aiding this creature, so naturally did I think of my need to aid my human family. I would save them. I would save her, this beautiful queen of spiders, and I would save my girls, and every last person in Iwagakure. I would save them all.

I narrowed my eyes, spewing even more silk to demonstrate my power. As our threads adhered in the middle, surging and fighting for dominance, I kept my gaze upon her. I would not back down, not from this, and not from my responsibility.

The more controlled version of the Spider Web Flower, this technique grants the user more functionality. After performing the necessary handseals, the user will emit a sticky jet of webbing from their mouth. If it grabs a hold of the target, the user can then whip their head and swing\throw the captured victim where they wish.

Her anger was mounting. I had expected as much. Such a powerful thing, used to being the dominant force in these woods, to challenge her was of course to provoke her ire. But it was for her own good, if only I could explain! If it were not I who defeated her and helped her hide, it would be those who came after, and they would not stop until she was dead. But she could not know this, and as such, she charged, her silk hanging forgotten from her fangs. Spitting out the last of my own thread, I raised my arms once more, and thread danced free from my fingertips, before darting towards her.

"Calm down darling, it's okay," I called, as I seized her legs with a thread each, holding her off just enough that her clacking fangs could not reach me. Restrained by my threads as she was, her face merely a foot from my own, I glared at her.
"Stop this nonsense, you know what I am," I reprimanded her. Although of course I could not speak with spiders, I certainly could connect to them on a far deeper level than one not of my clan. We were as close to spiders as humans could be, and the same ancient heritage flowed in both our veins. I bared my teeth, far from fangs, but the gesture was understood.
"You are not safe here, sweetie. You are being hunted," I explained, concern evident in my voice. It was, perhaps, foolish to keep talking to her, but though she did not understand my words, she was a creature of great intelligence, and I believed my emotions would get through.

I relaxed the silken hold on her limbs, keeping my gaze steady, seeing my face reflected in each of those brilliant eyes.
"Relax, shh. We must go from here, okay?" I could see in her eyes that she was calming. She no longer struggled, and the clicking of her fangs was communicative, rather than purely aggressive.
"Yes, of course I shall come with you, darling," I smiled, retracting my silken threads entirely. She stood before me, peering at me with those many eyes, and I looked back, trying to understand.
"I know, I know. What right do they have? But for now, your safety takes priority," and, keeping my eyes on hers, I began to step to the side, circling her, watching her body shift to follow until we had come half circle.

{jutsu}Kumo Kenshi (Spider Silk Thread) [50]

Chakra Consumption: Low per thread

Although the Sasanagi may spit their threads at an opponent, there are more uses to the creation than simply that. With this technique, the Sasanagi clan member can create lengths of thread for any purpose, and these may also be produced under the Sasanagi's fingernails (for a total of ten threads). Lengths of thread may be used for their sticky properties to subdue opponents, or expelled at heights to ascend quickly; the possibilities are limitless, aside from the range.

Note: These threads are tethers that are roughly the size of an average person’s finger; they’re very visible in broad daylight. These threads possess a reasonable amount of force (capable of lifting and restraining a fully grown man effortlessly). This technique also allows the user to manipulate objects that their webs have wrapped around (such as picking up and throwing objects, or making a person move if they’ve been restrained).

It should be noted that if thread is cut or destroyed in any way, it will become immobile and thusly unable to be used. The user can then “severe” it at their fingernail, and emit another in its place.

Only other Sasanagi techniques may be cast while the user has threads capable of being manipulated active. This technique was created by Daisy.

I turned from her. It was almost universal, the act of showing one's back, in demonstrating trust. To be on the safe side, I let a lone silk thread slip from beneath my fingernail, to drift back to her and touch her head ever so gently. Without my gaze on her's, I wanted to maintain a connection, but it was unnecessary, because as I began to walk, heading into the woods, she came up beside me, keeping pace. It was a strange feeling, walking alongside such a powerful and feared creature. On one hand, she truly was my kin, and I felt comfortable with her, felt a natural desire to protect her and aid her. On the other hand, I was still slightly in awe of her.

"You know," I began, quite content to chat, "I was forced from my home too. I liked it there, really, although it was difficult at times. Everybody I loved was there, and I wanted to make things better. But..." I sighed, stepping delicately over a fallen log, hearing her many legs do the same as she moved surprisingly gracefully and kept pace with me.
"People are not going to understand you, darling. People are going to fear you, and reject you, and in turn, will try to remove you. But, that doesn't mean they're inherently bad or unintelligent people, not truly..." I paused, trying to find the words to explain compassion and magnanimity to a giant spider.
"You have to be patient, and forgive people, even if they hate you, and want nothing more than your utter destruction. If they only knew you, or understood you, it would be so different, you see?" I wasn't sure if she did see.

"My point is that... One shouldn't fight fire with fire. One should fight fire with water, that's simply more practical, no? Do not counter vitriol and hate with aggression, counter it with understanding and explanation. One will exacerbate, and the other will calm and soothe," I crossed one pair of arms, considering my position.
"Though, this is only to a point. When it becomes necessary... Well, I can't pretend I would have any qualms with cocooning each of the Iwagakure Council and feeding them to you," I laughed lightly, and she seemed to clack her spinners rather more joyfully. I certainly couldn't complain of her attentiveness.

"What about you? What would you do?"

I walked on in silence, listening to the rustle of her many legs and the intermittent clacking of her fangs. She had listened to me without understanding, so it was only considerate I do the same. She was truly enormous though. The size of spiders was often misleading, as it was the legs that spanned such widths, usually accompanied by a much smaller body, or cephalothorax, and then a sizable abdomen. However all parts of this queen of spiders were gigantic, and my much above average height in such heels only brought me level with her face, while her abdomen and the peaks of her legs towered above me. I stole glances at her fangs, the most animated part of her, as I walked. I could see - and hear - that they clacked at different rates, sometimes expressively and sometimes as if in monotone.

It was fanciful, of course, but I rather imagined we were communicating quite well.
"I suppose it's difficult? Either by those wishing to sell parts, or make potions, or those who simply fear you, you will always be hunted, won't you?" I was beginning to understand what it felt like. She clacked her fangs, a long leg striding hugely before me, followed by others.
"We mustn't give in, darling. We simply have to persevere!" I stopped walking and turned to face her directly. We had covered quite the distance, I hadn't noticed being as fascinated by her as I was, but I was sure this would be far enough to ensure her safety. I would do everything in my power upon my return to prevent her being hunted.

"I must leave you now, okay? Don't get too close to the village, it's not safe there," I explained, looking her in the eyes. It was truly a strange experience. I was rather humbled by the whole thing, and no small part inspired.
"I'll always be rooting for you. I'll come find you again someday, I promise, so don't forget me," It was perhaps arrogance and vanity, but I rather imagined she understood me. She certainly raised her front legs briefly, to either side of me.
"We'll both have to do our best in a world that doesn't appreciate us, but as long as we don't give in... Well. We'll be okay, okay?" I smiled, and placed my hand lightly on her head, careful not to brush against her many eyes.

Then I walked away, turning back only briefly.

"Goodbye now! Take care of yourself for me," and I hurried away. How foolishly sentimental I was, hastily wiping my dampening eyes. But I could still see her waving her legs as I made my quiet way back to the village.
