✘ Lineage; -- Kagehebi
Not everyone agrees upon the origin of the Kage Hebi, but a popular rumor seems to be common enough to be held as truth; during the times before refined ninjutsu and the birthing of the ninja arts by the Six Path Sage, a rather mad scientist that possessed an intellect ahead of his time began tampering with chakra and the alternation of humans to fit certain traits of the animal kingdom. Although many failed, a certain species seemed to consistently yield positive results for the doctor - snakes.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]
By splicing genes of humans with that of snakes, and letting one's chakra system assimilate the change and adapt to it, the name had successfully created a small family of 'snake people'. Unfortunately, rumors of his experiment broke free, and the town's angry mob burnt his dark mansion down, which house his laboratory and his subjects. it is said he burnt with all the creations, but some say a few escaped...
To this day, only a handful appear. But when they are, their power blooms full, and they remind the world of the supremacy of the snake. Amongst the Kage-Hebi is a strongly respected and defended belief that their origins were not from the hand of some curious brainiac, but from the God of Snakes themselves. Believing to be of royal blood, all bloodline members hold themselves in high esteem, and are not afraid to strike down those whom they feel have wronged them. It is said the worst thing to say to a Kage-Hebi would be regarding the "fable" of their origins - the scientific one, of course.
Regardless, origin does not matter, for the last Shinobi World War has leff the world in shambles. With the 'reset' button pressed on the world, the surviving Kage-Hebi have slithered back into the bright light of the sun, ready to face their new reality with the same tenacity that allowed them to survive all the madness before.
Because of their snakey nature, as well as the prejudice they've faced before, Kage-Hebi are not naturally inclined towards group settings.
㊁Vignetteζʹ— Height; -- 5'9"
ζʹ— Weight; -- 142lbs
ζʹ— Hair; -- Straw
ζʹ— Eye Color; -- YellowCalm and collected. A sterling mane falls from an upright crown and reserved composure, worn unkempt. Bangs contour to the left, brushed aside to keep argent locks from deluding an amber gaze; his serpent-like eyes contrast a strange yellow hue, giving off an eerie appeal. A subtle brow raised over the bridge of his nose, which extends to a small point. Thin red lips ensue the olfactory organ, descending into a rounded chin and the high ascent of his jawline. High cheek bones protrude slightly from his flesh, drawing attention to the hue of his eyes. Beyond his face, his body is that of a practical shinobi. Lean muscle scales every breadth of his lithe frame, healthy and untarnished, save for a single scar running the length of his chest.
Dressed in the rudimentary uniform of a shinobi, Mugen bears the symbol of his clan proudly upon his back. This slim black shirt tucks into the ebony slacks of his village, thereafter covering the crest of his sandals. Each limb hangs free of fabric, allowing a greater sense of mobility in his movements. His form is canvased by an ebony coat that ties at the neck by a silver button, the curtains revealing a slight opening on his right side. This black anorak is temperature resistant, and serves to conceal his movements.
The kagehebi wears his headband over his right bicep, tied off in black cloth.✘ Anecdote;Birthed from the degenerate outcasts of society, Nakasawa Mugen was taken into the household of two shinobi and their son. The foster child of two of kusagakure's finest medical shinobi was raised in a large household alongside his foster brother Izanagi. However, their relationship was closer than blood, and they spent their early years under the careful watch of the house's nanny. A kind middle-aged woman by the name of Mizuki, also a retired village jounin who spent her days watching over the two and cleaning the household. Since both parents were doctors, they grew up with the nanny satisfying the role of a parent, which lead to a tragic ending. Little did they know the treachery that loomed on the woman's mind.
Months prior to their enrollment in the academy, a series of events unraveled that would leave the Nakasawa residence permanently changed. Sent on an espionage mission from the far regions of konohagakure, the nanny's true identity was revealed on the breaking point of a current investigation. With her life now endangered, she took the two children hostage, threatening their lives in attempts to escape unharmed. Refusing to let her get away, a special ops team ambushed the woman, failing to save both children in their attempt. A single sword strike brought down the child Izanagi, drenching his Mugen in the blood of his brother's corpse. In shock from the event, it was thought that he could never recover, his mental state trapped in a downward spiral.
It was found however, that rather than diving deeper into insanity, his mind made a final effort to subdue the shock. With the help of therapy he was able to overcome the tragedy and enroll in the shinobi academy, where he surpassed the expectations of both his classmates and teachers. A terrorist attempt had been made upon the children of the academy, having killed both teachers, the hostiles threatened the life of the students. Enlisting his classmates under his leadership, an insurgence ensued and the threats were killed. Fang marks were the only physical evidence of their deaths, injected with the poison of a Kage Hebi, making a name of himself before his Genin promotion.
Enlisted in a four-man cell, Mugen found himself partnered with an airontoku and a genjutsu user. Their sensei was a Jounin of Kusagakure, displaying vicious characteristics in his behavior, but he pushed the shinobi to their true potential. Allowing the natural leader to emerge, Mugen meant business, and performed flawlessly in execution. Being the more strategic of the group, he found his breadth of talent organizing efficient attacks by setting traps and ambushes mid combat.
The day of his first training session, the three genin were pinned against their jounin leader—a proud member of the shikigami clan. He ordered the genjutsu user, Akumoto Rin, to create a false image of himself as she charged the jonin leader; Hirashi Kotomo, the airontoku, ambushed the jonin from his southern flank. He was prepared for each angle presented by the two genin and their doppelganger. But was unable to foresee the sudden attack of the Kage Hebi as his limbs whipped out, coiling around the jonins head and throat with a kunai to his carotid artery. Taunted to make the kill, he pulled the blade along the jonin's throat to no prevail. An armor of paper unfolded from his flesh, and encased the genin in temporary restraints. To this day he can remember his sensei's praise, "You're gonna reach the top someday, kid."
From there on out, the team carried out rudimentary tasks for the village of kusagakure, fulfilling the dull requirements for the chuunin exams and applying for the examination after their first year. Taught sufficiently in their studies, the group was able to pass the written exam. With the leadership of their 'White Snake' as he'd been appropriately named, they were able to make it to the last round of the chuunin exams, in which shinobi of every village were pinned against one another to test their skill in combat. Rin lost in her first fight of the chuunin exam tournament, and was sent home with near fatal injuries. Far less fortunate, Kotomo returned in a body bag. It was only Mugen that emerged victorious, after subduing a konoha foe of the hyuuga main house. His enemy had been defeated in a matter of seconds; falling victim to the kage hebi's gaze, he was constricted by the long reaching limbs of the kusa shinobi, and left with no other option but to forfeit. Death by suffocation would have been the alternative.
Given recognition for his feat, even by the leaders of participating villages, Mugen felt a great deal of shame. He had lead his team into injury and death, how could he allow them to participate when they were so unprepared. He blamed himself for the results, though his sensei Susano'o begged to differ, providing that he was to blame rather than the genin. He admitted that he was so confident in the white haired boy, that he'd sent his unprepared teammates into the competition with the hopes that Mugen would do the impossible. Still, the chuunin carried the weight of his friends deaths on his shoulder. He considered the traumatic events he had experienced throughout his life, making it his sole ambition to conquer the Kusagakure realm. Only under his reign, could he accomplish the goals talked about with those he'd left behind. This, was his chance to prove himself.
㊂Disposition✘ Demeanor; The SnakeMugen is gifted with great patience and a casual personality. Although calm in composure, he is meticulous in his duties and always follows a plan. Analysis and anticipation are key to his success, and as such, he is usually one step ahead of his competitors. The king of paths: this shinobi can anticipate the reactions of opponents based on body language and subtle factors in muscle tensions, and as result, counter an attack before it happens. A persona affiliated with light, albeit a free spirit, who adheres to his own rule. Chivalry and mercy is shown to those who deserve it, and although his trust must be earned, he is the more forgiving than most. Thought goes into to every decision, weighing the benefits against the downfalls, which is why Mugen is considered to be the more logical of his peers. Not only is his behavior different, but his interests stray from those of his constituents. His preferences include, but are not limited to: the ocean, daytime, fruit, chess, origami, and reading.
Quite pretentious, Mugen can be condescending in his ego.
✘ Sentiment; The RebelSeparating himself from the selfish and bigots, Mugen is just as comfortable working alone as in a group. His strong opinions of religion and government, often differ from his peers for his harsh judgements of each; on the other hand, he is able to show compassion and understanding for everyone which makes him a successful leader. Tactful and observant, he tends to assume the role of a shepherd, commanding his peers and underlings with ease and trust. Chivalry is his only downfall, and it makes killing a women more difficult than offing other threats. At the same time, he trusts woman less than men; likely and occurrence deriving from his early childhood, seeing the betrayal and manipulation a woman is capable of. Most of his mental obstacles are overcome through commitment and following through with his plans, deeming certain acts of killing out of necessity.
✘ Purpose; The LeaderTo say that he has a sole purpose is an understatement, for there are numerous events on his agenda. The most significant of this list, is the desire conquer his homeland, and create a forefront to the shinobi world. From here, it's within his ambitions to conquer neighboring lands before industrializing and taking advantage of their land and numbers. Dominating the trade of supplies and weaponry could be the backbone of Kusagakures existence, and cause a great deal of influence throughout the world. He doesn't hope to conquer the entire world, but rather, unite a large portion of it under a just leader.
