TAKIGAKURE GATES.Although Taki no Kuni is a rather small country when compared to the other nations, its terrain is as difficult to traverse as any. Miles of dense forest combined with high cliffs, sudden steep hills, rivers, and literally hundreds of waterfalls serve as both a distraction and deterrent for one searching for Takigakure no Sato. The residents know that everything is in a name, including their humble home; Hidden Waterfall is, in fact, not hidden within one of those many waterfalls. This alone is enough to confuse the average traveler, resulting in time wasted looking behind waterfalls and lowered spirits.
Takigakure no Sato is located near the bottom of the upper left-hand quadrant of the country, almost near the exact center of the forest. From an aerial view it is disguised by the leaves of a gigantic tree that grows there, making it blend in naturally with its surroundings. A tall wooden wall encompasses most of the village proper, ending only when it reaches the mountainous cliff at the back end. As such, the only way to enter is through a gate in the northeastern section. The gate itself is simply two large wooden doors, the left painted with 滝 and the right painted with 村.
There is a wooden tower built on top of the wall on either side of the doors, along with two booths directly under them at the bottom. These stations are constantly manned by some of the strongest shinobi in the village, ready to protect its citizens with their lives should trouble arise. An archer is positioned in one of the two towers; each of the stations hold an ANBU that will stop anyone, unless they present the headband of Takigakure no Sato.
