Having seen the anarchy of crime in the poor parts of Kirigakure, she values law and order greatly. In order to combat those that live life freely, Suzumi lives life by a strict code. She is respectful and polite to a fault, applying her experience in fencing to her social life.

The blood of the shark flows through her, though. While knowing that it is a problem, Suzumi occasionally goes into fits of rage. These are brought on by great provocation, causing the human in Suzumi to take a back seat. Rarely occurring in public, Suzumi has done well to hide the spark inside of her from others.[/classy]
[classy=title]brief history[/classy][classy=info]Suzumi descends from a line of Hoshigaki that for the most part were unremarkable. Living in the recesses of Kirigakure while growing up, Suzumi saw the dangers of the lawless at an early age. Her father was the first of his line to escape the slums through his success as a fencing master. While he usually taught those that never trained to be shinobi, occasionally he would have a student seeking to become a master fencer and shinobi. Suzumi was such a case. While learning the ninja arts she learned the conduct and practice of fencing. Applying the teachings of one to the other, Suzumi excelled in both fields. [/classy]
[classy=title]appearance[/classy][classy=info]The Hoshigaki traits are relatively passive in Suzumi. While her skin still has a blue hue, it is not as noticeable as most other Hoshigaki. Through wearing her hitae-ate around her neck, Suzumi's gills are hidden. The most clear way to tell her lineage is her shark-like teeth.

In contrast, the human side of Suzumi shows more than usual. At 178 cm [5' 10”], Suzumi is rather tall, giving her a long wingspan. Although usually covered, her arms and legs are curved with muscle. She is rather pretty, however this can make a quick flash of a sharp-toothed smile that much more alarming. Golden hair drops to her shoulders, bangs framing her face.[/classy]

Description: Part of what makes a Hoshigake so unique is its fusion of human and shark DNA. Having gained a thin layer of cartilage underneath their blueish skin as a result, the user learns how to use that cartilage in combination with their chakra in order to lessen the impact of melee strikes against them. By channeling their special shark chakra into the thin layer underneath the skin, the cartilage there begins to act like a sponge, ready to cushion damage. As a result, whenever the user is hit, the sponge-like manner of the cartilage absorbs a portion of the damage, reducing the damage done to the user significantly.

Because of their constant fighting underwater, they've learned how to move and manipulate their own bodies while submerged, making them terribly difficult opponents to match when they're in their element. This ability, once learned, allows the user to fight with grace and ease underwater, to the very point that it seems like they were fighting naturally above it.

However, the Hoshigake's body has a secondary set of breathing tools obtained from their fantastic shark DNA - gills. By activating this technique, the user becomes capable of switching the manner in which their brain commands the body, moving to use the gills instead of the lungs. In this manner, it is impossible for the Hoshigaki to drown as they are now using gills to breath. To cancel the technique, the user simply uses mental command, ending the effect and transitioning back to the use of the lungs.

During this mode, only known Taijutsu may be used. Once active, the Frenzy may not be cancelled. No pain is felt during frenzy, but during cool-down, all damage suffered is delivered onto the user all at once, making the pain much worse all at once. Cool-down cannot be avoided by leaving a thread, as all turns must be RP'ed out; coincidentally, cool-down occurs the turn immediately after the final Frenzy turn. Description: Nothing is quite as frightening as a shark who has entered a frenzy. When the shark becomes enraged or maddened, it enters a state of mind that effectively forces the creature to become nerve-dead. This survival mechanism allows the clan member to fight with a vicious ferocity and without the ability to feel pain. After the frenzy, the user will become exhausted, reducing his or her ability to fight dramatically.

Description: How does one compete in combat if they have no way to stop a charging opponent? As well, what does one do if their fighting their friend and wish not to harm him, yet still want to win. In those circumstances Push Point works perfectly. By driving their sword forward and then quickly pulling back they generate force without piercing the enemy. This push and pulled force causes the enemy to move back varying degrees and can become quite the annoyance when used properly.

Elegant Barrage

Keep in mind that if the first strike lands the rest almost always will, but subsequently, if the first misses, then most likely so will the rest as they are near-instant in terms of occurance time.
Description: One of the stand points of the Gentleman's Art is it's mastery of quick thrusting strikes. A hallmark of the style and possibly the most dangerous aspect, outside of counters. Such techniques allow the user to fit several attacks in the span of time another would only be able to make one.

Description: The most basic of all deflection techniques, a simple smacking away with a bit of force. Made possible by a combination of a strong wrist movement, firm grip and the design of a slender sword. When confronted with a basic level attack, the user watches the direction it's coming and simply taps it a bit to send it of course. Once moved, this leaves an immediate opening for the user to strike with their own technique.

Special: A technique in which the user applies their melee countering abilities to a ranged threat. By watching the trajectory in which it approaches and the velocity it travels at, the user deduces the proper form and amount of push to send the object hurling safely away from them. The user's 'Exquisite Counter' rank determines the distance they can possibly deflect, with the 'D' rank starting at 10 meters, and each extra rank adding 10 more. Deflecting moves in a straight line whereever the user aims, and retains the same speed it originally carried on its way to the user. Can deflect up to one (1) object, plus one more each time retrained.
Description: A practiced technique that allows the user to transfer what they know about blocking melee attacks on to deflecting away ranged ones. The tricky part comes with learning how to judge speed and angle but that comes with time. Eventually the user learns how to whip their sword about in a way that stops most things in the air from reaching them.

Description: The first stage of the Eight Gates, the Gate of Opening (開門, Kaimon) is located in the brain, and upon activation, releases the brain's restraints, allowing full power usage of the body's muscles. Unlocking this gate allows the user to use extremely strong techniques, such as the Iron Fist's Frontal Lotus.

Description: Located within the spinal cord, the third gate, the Gate of Life, begins to prepare the body for extreme movement and muscle destruction. Enemies without refined dojutsu (any non-Uchiha or Hyuuga) have a very difficult time keeping up with the user's movements, as this gate gives off the appearance of simply vanishing and reappearing on a whim. However, the user's body is left intact for the most part, as this new level brings the user mostly benefits. A notable feature of this gate is that the user's skin suddenly begins to turn red.

Special: Due to the intense flow of chakra released by opening this gate, the user is capable of immediately disrupting any and all genjutsu of b-rank and lower. This gate grants the user increased feats of strength and speed, roughly x5 that of your average shinobi. Upon deactivating this gate, the user will suffer a "fatigue" duration equivalent to the total time the gate's effects were active. During this fatigued period, the player will only be able to use taijutsu-based techniques of b-rank and below.
Description: Located within the spinal cord, the fourth gate, the Gate of Wound, further's the body's destructive potential, evident by a more intense shade of red taking the user over, as well as a powerful aura that flows all around them. With this gate in effect, enemies without a refined dojutsu (any non-Uchiha or Hyuuga) have an extremely difficult time comprehending the user's movements; they're barely able to make out a blur. Furthermore, even those possessing the fabled Sharingan and Byakugan now have a high difficulty keeping track of actions executed at such a high speed. Description: This jutsu lets the user quickly switch places with another nearby object, such as a plant (normally a section of a log) the moment an attack hits. This creates an optical illusion, making the enemy think the attack was successful. The user can then use this confusion to escape or launch a counter-attack - i.e. exploding tags can be attached to the replacement for an added surprise.

Description: Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. The Bunshin technique creates a copy of the ninja without substance that, although easily seen through by those with doujutsu, can fool the normal eye easily. Why? Simply because although without substance, the copy resembles the ninja in every way. This clone can function as a distraction or as means to confuse one's opponent, though no real damage can be done by it. Finally, as soon the Bunshin gets attacked or comes into contact with an opponent, it will disperse.

The amount needed to climb is small but it must be precise. The feet are regarded as the hardest location to master chakra focusing. Description: Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic ninjutsu technique used across the shinobi world by all, ranging from the most basic shinobi to the legends of lore. Considered is a high-speed movement technique - to an observer caught in the optical illusion, it appears as if the user has teleported. This allows the user to escape or attack suddenly, should they need to. However, while a high-speed movement, if used in broad daylight, one will still be quite visible and as such, easier to be defended against. In order to achieve maximum effect, the user must to combine it with a distraction.
