Part I.
Kusagakure- the village hidden in the grass, renowned for its connection with nature. Not only do several families hail from the land it flourishes in who have special connections with the environment, but Kusa no Kuni has also for generations upon generations been an oasis for amateur and advanced herbalists alike, hiding all kinds of herbs within its dense forests. Whilst the worldwide Botany Institution hold records and records of various herbs which can be found in the area, there too are several kinds which are loosely documented, but not in detail. Such mysterious herbs are the specialities of herbalists who hail from the village of Kusa, the tips and techniques to finding them passed down through families over the years for the sake of preserving the roots of herbalism to Kusa no Kuni. For those who are fortunate enough to hail from the village and who bear talent as a herbalist, secrets can be divulged in silent tone to those who wish to learn the ancient mixtures that hailed from the village in the past to use in the present day.
Rank: D, C, B, A, S.
Type: Passive / Herbalism.
Range: Self.
Handseals: -
Chakra: -
Special: Allows the herbalist natural immunity from poisons. Rank learned negates the effect of any poison of equal or lower rank.
Description: With herbalism having been a keen profession taken by shinobi from Kusagakure for years, it’s no question that this exposure to several kinds of poison has become a problem to the health of the herbalists who use them. Because of this, it was decided that years ago Kusagakure herbalists who are more likely to come in to contact with stronger, more potent herbs would be ushered to make themselves immune to such hazards to prevent their greatest creation from backfiring on themselves. By exposing themselves to poisons they’ve built up an immune system unlike any other, capable of defending against degenerative poisons which could attack the system should they be attacked by others or if any accidents occur whilst creating mixtures. With such a powerful immunity to poisons, the greatest of herbalists can take any kind of poison, clan-based or herb-based, with no problem. A style passed down from generations and generations of Kusagakure herbalists, the village has preserved such a trait beautifully.
Domain: Must be a herbalist with 1,500 EXP invested in the profession for ranks D - A. Must have 2,000 invested for S-Ranked version of this technique. If user leaves the Herbalist profession, this technique must be forfeited. Kusagakure no sato technique.
Herb to pill
Rank: D, C, B, A, S
Type: Supplementary / Herbalism.
Range: Self.
Handseals: -
Chakra: -
Special: Allows the user to turn herbs in to pills rather than gasses or liquids. Creation of pills cannot be stacked with the technique ‘Colourless’ given the solid nature of the dust created. The user can only convert one herb at a time, and the process itself is irreversible. Finally, highest rank known of this technique must be equal or higher than the herb they are trying to convert. For every single unit of herb one has, it can be created in to 1 pill. If user converts herb with D-Ranked knowledge of poison, a D-Ranked pill with poisonous effects is created, if the user converts a herb with C-Ranked knowledge of a salve, a C-Ranked pill with salve effects is created, so on so forth. Each pill takes up 1 slot. Pills created cannot be sold to shops, but can however be traded between PCs ICly.
Description: With items such as soldier pills popular in battle, it’s no question that herbalists have since developed their own twist on the items. During preparation of herbs, instead of condensing them in to liquids or gasses, Herbalists from Kusagakure have developed a method of grounding herbs down after preparation to be used as solid items in pill-shaped forms. These can then be consumed easily by shinobi wishing to reap the effects of the herb, instead of having to inject liquids. Through encasing the dust of herbs in a thin gel capsule they can be used in battle like any other pill, and can also be stored in a pill box alike others. Whilst also taking a useful nature in battle, they have since also taken an interesting twist in more sly means- through unscrewing either side of the capsules a user can use the dust within the pill to taint food and drinks or any other things of targets. Whilst appearing coloured within the pill, when mixed in with drinks or food it moulds with the item that it is tainting, rendering it colourless through the process. The most capable of herbalists can create dust which is completely unnoticeable- making it very useful for kidnappings.
Domain: Must be a herbalist. Kusagakure no sato technique.
Herbal regeneration
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary / Herbalism.
Range: Self.
Handseals: -
Chakra: -
Special: Allows the user to regrow herbs through harvesting and planting the seeds. After one OOC week of growing, one herb can be taken from the plant. The user can also choose to leave the plant to grow for two full OOC weeks, resulting in three herbs total being able to be harvested as a final result. Harvesting and planting must take place ICly by a qualified herbalist with the technique for it to be legitimate.
Description: With so many herbs growing in Kusagakure, over so many generations shinobi from the village have learned how to harness the plants themselves and regrow them to reproduce the herb without having to trawl the forests of Kusagakure to find them. Due to the fact that the country can sustain each kind herb due to its plant-friendly enviroment, they can easily be grown within the grass village to make the process of using herbs easier. In order to do this Kusgakure herbalists have learned how to carefully harvest seeds from herbs whilst preparing them in order to use the herb itself for traditional mixture making, and leaving the seeds to help regrow the herb. By keeping them in their home environment, the user then has to wait patiently for the plant to grow in order to harvest the herbs. Herbs can be grown in personal, private plots, although they are usually grown in botany institutions who are dedicated towards studying such plants.
Domain: Must be a herbalist. Kusagakure no sato technique. Herbs can only be grown in corresponding country.
Rank: B
Type: Primary. Melee.
Special: Holds 1 ounce of liquid poison or salve per hand, 1/4th of an ounce in each knuckle. Has four needles which correspond to each knuckle, which when colliding with the skin of a target, can inject the contents quickly through a custom-made internal mechanism within the weapon.
Description: A modified version of knuckle dusters, herbalists who wish to be more subtle with their use of poison have created a customized version of the popular item, for use with liquids created through herbalism. By filling the hollow strip on the item with a chosen salve or poison, the user can then, combined with four, hollow needles (Similar to that of a syringe) embedded in to each knuckle, combine taijutsu attacks with their herbalist abilities, allowing them to throw punches at a target as well as injecting them with liquid. With the needles rather short to prevent them from snapping, the effects dealt by such a simple item can be disastrous in the hands of a keen tactician!
Cost: 25,000 Ryo. Kusagakure no sato item.[/ul][/ul]
