His hands flailed throughout the water and he flapped about rampantly until Kouketsu's intervention. His breathing was still heavy but, for the most part, he seemed to be focusing on the Uchiha. "We were looking for survivors. You're lucky that you came to when you did; we were about to toss you back into the water." "My name is Kouketsu, and this is Ue. You're among friends." He seemed startled by Kouketsu's terseness and turned to face Uekyuuchi, who had been inspecting him the entire time. When the welcoming gestures were extended toward him he seemed reluctant to accept the hand shake but eventually conceded before turning back toward Ue. The look on his face was peculiar but, in good show, the Kikkawa returned an amiable smile before breaking his silence. "You okay? I thought you were leech-food," he chuckled before extending his hand toward their new accomplice. "Like he said, I'm Ue. Glad to see you're still kickin'. We thought we were the only ones left." The unknown seemed less hesitant to take Ue's hand and openly spoke out during the embrace. "I'm... Ooyama. Ooyama Nadare" His voice was boisterous and seemed to echo throughout the entire cavern. His handshake was just as strong and complimented his stature, which easily dwarfed Kou and Ue's. The Kikkawa only raised a brow before quickly shooting Kouketsu a jarring glance, as if to signal (Look at how big this motherfucker is!) Taking his hand back, he looked at it and imagined it didn't hurt as bad as it did. How this man still had any strength after being cast into a random mountain aperture by a torrential flood was beyond him, but seeing as how it'd happened twice he couldn't exactly doubt the odds.

It's a mystery how Kou hadn't noticed before, but the man they'd "saved" was a fucking beast. He was certified yeti, which did more than explain how he'd managed to survive the rampaging torrents of the storm and swell just outside their little cave. His voice made every bone in Kou's body shake, though a stoic expression was the only response he'd given. Still, he flexed his hand several times after the monster of a handshake, more so to make sure everything was still working after he'd given it to the burly man. There were a million of topics that they could've brought up to talk about, but allegiances and villages weren't one of them. A quick but sharp look to Ue would've portrayed this enough, to which he'd simply turn and make his way back toward the entrance. Not before tossing the man his last ration, though. "You must be hungry." Even if he wasn't, he definitely would be in only a matter of time. And with a third mouth to feed, Kou took to searching and salvaging even harder than before. I hope Ue knows what he's doing.

Once again his voice echoed throughout the chamber. "I am from battle-ready Iwagakure! I thank the nation that they trained me to be as a mountain would be, otherwise I wouldn't have been prepared. Are you two from Iwagakure as well? It's the only way you could have survived." That grating sense of entitlement was visibly affecting Ue, who'd simply closed his eyes during the middle of his rant. Only when the last trace of his echo left did he noticeably flinch, an eyebrow. "Umm.. yeeaaaah. We're from Iwagakure tooooo." He immediately regretted that as well and threw his fist into the air to consolidate his esprit de corps. "Really?! AWESOME," he grunted with excitement. "I came from the Grizzly Unit, Third Squad. What unit were you guys in?" ! Ue held his alarm the best he could, turning his head in Kouketsu's direction. "Ummm... yeah! Our unit! The unit Kouketsu and I were in was... it was the meanest of them all!" He turned his head when he spoke in order to "throw" his words at Kouketsu. Ooyama's face seemed to brighten up when Ue spoke about his "squad". "Tell me! Tell me!!"

The mental scowling was quite visible on Kou's face, despite his back being turned to them. The hair on the back of his neck almost stood fully erect and Ue simply continued to run his mouth, digging a hole they might not have been able to climb out of. He hoped the blabbering Iwagakure veteran wouldn't have dug deeper, but that would've made their lives all too easy; like a rabid beast to fresh meat, the lumbering hulk couldn't help but inquire further into the history of his supposed comrades. Thankfully, Kou's track record would come into play. He'd remembered whispers of a very elite squad of Iwagakure shinobi. In fact, he'd done battle with several of them. He'd also had several run ins with the Grizzly unit themselves; they were quite fearsome, usually far larger than you're normal man or woman. They truly were grizzlies. "Iron Hide, Second Squad." The words rolled off his tongue as if it was really the truth, his mind combing through the myriad of information his Sharingan had absorbed over the years. It was rather recent that he'd seen the documents - during an invasion of an Iwagakure camp - however, from what he'd gathered the Iron Hide Squads were Iwagakure's first and last defense. Somewhat akin to Konohagakure's ANBU squad, it should've been no surprise had the man not heard of their names. Kou simply hoped he hadn't been lying to them in an attempt to bait them out. "It seems that even in these horrid conditions, fortune has smiled upon us. It would be a mess had we all been from separate villages." Or, had Ue kept running his mouth. The water had dipped in height, making scooping any additional bodies all but impossible for the time being. So, Kou returned to the depths of the cave, slouching against a nearby wall. What was Ue planning?

THEY TELL STORIES ABOUT YOU GUYS TO BOOST MORALE!" The Kikkawa didn't hesitate to take advantage of Nadare's excitement, nonchalantly turning his head to face the storm. "Yeaaah, weelll...., you know how we do." His words flexed a bravado only a fool couldn't probe. Lucky for them Nadare fit the fool's profile. "Do I," he exclaimed. "Like how you guys almost single-handedly destroyed all of Kusagakure!" This struck a nerve but Ue kept his composure, turning to face Nadare without speaking a word. Instead he allowed an expression of modesty to overrun his visage, the likes of which would add to whatever allure the new guy held over his peers. Ooyama's reluctance to speak was a testament to it's effectiveness, still Ue was burdened with the thought of his dead relatives. "The way you guys totally slaughtered tha--" "Look", Ue snapped. "I didn't heal you to hear you run your fucking mouth all ni--" Once again, he regretted what came out of his mouth. The stress was obviously pushing him to act out of the norm, but it was evident he didn't intend for them to know he'd healed Ooyama. Ooyama seemed puzzled but didn't speak. Ue only sighed, turning to face the storm again.

Though they'd slept for several hours not too long ago, Kou's body had barely recovered from its treacherous journey. What's more, his stomach had only been agitated by the ration he'd fed himself; the hunger was becoming ravenous, like a rabid wolf. That was before a sudden spike in the conversation, stemmin' from Ue's side. Halved eyes lazily rolled to him, and Kou had to fight the laugh in his throat with everything he had. So, he's got a little soft spot. Not that everyone didn't, but Ue didn't strike him as the type to be so sentimental. Then again, how many family member losses had he suffered during that massacre? It was somethin' that even sent a chill down the Uchiha's spine - the fabled stories of the Iron Hide's merciless butchering of nearly an entire village. It was an act of terror that had never been witnessed in the world. "Lost a few friends from the unit," I intervened, trying to explain his sudden aggressive nature. "Forgive him." Kou's eyes didn't close after that. Instead, he simply watched and observed.

The look on his face expressed a gratefulness that lasted all of an instant before he turned his head back toward the storm. "Fuuuck, I'm still hungry," Nadare belched before slamming his head against the cave wall behind him, tossing the ration container across the cave. Ue chose not to acknowledge his complaint but that didn't keep him from carrying on. An eager look overtook his visage as he began to frantically scan the cave, rocking forward onto his hands and knees in order to sift through the cave sediments. Ue lifted a brow, gazing in astonishment at the behemoth, but verily understood his trouble. What little chakra he'd absorbed from Nadare was hardly enough to hold him over and a single ready to eat meal wasn't the most filling thing to chow down on. Still it was better than nothing and Ue withdrew the MRE given to him by Kouketsu. Ooyama's eyes seemed to glaze over at the sight and as Ue lifted the ration to his mouth a gentle whimper caught his attention. He stopped, glossing over the cave a few times before leaning in to take his first bite, and again came the whimpering. This time he fixed his attention on the prostrated figure that was Nadare. Not taking an eye off of him Ue slowly lifted the ration up to his mouth. When he got only inches away from taking his first bite, so sounded the wheelding whine whose origin was now evidently Nadare. "You've got to be kidding m---" "DAMNIT I'M SO HUNGRYYY~!!!" he forcefully interjected, tears streaming down his face while he groveled at Ue's feet. "Here, here.. HERE," the Kikkawa exclaimed, shoving the ration in Oyama's face. And like a whining toddler who just got their binky, his groaning instantly ceased. Ue then stood up to march to the other side of the cave, where he knelt next to Kouketsu. "Look. We've got to do something about this motherfucker or I'm going to throttle him with his headband!" His request sounded more like a plea than a demand.

In fact, it wasn't every day that you were stranded in a cave with no where to go, surrounded by men that would've been your enemies in any other situation. "Humor him for a little longer," he finally replied. "The longer he's alive, the more chakra you'll be able to get from him when it comes time to thin our little herd. Besides, I think he likes you." His last comment was followed by a very low chuckle, one that would undoubtedly catch the lumbering hulk's attention if he wasn't entirely focused on stuffing his face with the remnants of a ration. Again, Kou would regard the bear-of-a-man with a distant gaze. "I hope that will suffice for the time being; we don't have anything else." Craning his head to the right, he glanced outside the cave's entrance. "The waters still haven't risen, so I won't be able to snag us any bodies for a little while. Please, control yourself." Kou didn't have too much experience with children, which was essentially what had fallen into the pair's lap, but he did have plenty in controlling shinobi. Nadare was, above everything else, a soldier. And considering he was under the pretext that the two shinobi before him were from a superior unit, Kou expected his orders to be followed without question.

He was correct; the longer Nadare remained active, the more pronounced his chakra stores would become. Ue parted his lips to thank Kouketsu but was cut off by the Uchiha's facetious statement. "You think that's funn--," Ue began before he was interrupted. "THERE'S NO NEED FOR YOU GUYS TO BE MEAN," the oaf shouted sullenly before folding his arms across his chest. A noticeable vein began to swell across the Kikkawa's forehead. Kouketsu would notice it, but that disappeared the moment he turned to face Nadare. Slowly rising to a stance Ue slowly moved back in the direction from whence he came, taking a seat across of the sulking Nadare. For some time the two of them refused to speak to one another. Instead they stared out of the cave, huffing breaths of dissatisfaction in order to coax the other into speaking first. This immature battle of wits continued until Ue had had enough, turning to face Ooyama before calling out to him. "Look, I'm sorry for what I said earlier." The lunk only spared him a grunt of disconcern, haughtily turning his head over his shoulder for a brief moment before facing the storm once more. Had he been paying attention, he too would have noticed the vein throbbing across the Kikkawa's forehead. Another deep exhale seemed to clear this up, leading Ue to speak once again. "C'moooonnn. You gotta forgive me," he implored in an attempt to earn his sympathy. A hand was extended, beckoning Ooyama to grasp it in trust. The behemoth glanced over his shoulder once more, examining the hand and it's owner before hesitantly extending his own to firmly grasp it. Ue only smiled.

Yet, the comedic relief these two seemed to innately generate was almost too priceless. Kou hadn't seen comedy like this in quite some time; this was the stuff that legends were made of. Unfortunately, the lover's squabble became a little too much. "I think I'm going to step out for a bit of fresh air," he informed the duo. His pace was sluggish getting off the wall, but once he was on his feet everything seemed fine. "Maybe there is a path down to the water. I might be able to scoop out a few more rations for hungry man." Due to positioning, he'd need to pass by them before exiting, to which he'd teasingly whisper: "You two try not to have too much fun while I'm gone."

It only increased in strength with Kouketsu exited the cave. "Hey, what the fuck are you do--" "Shut your mouth, you fucking worm," Nadare cut, whereupon he yanked the Kikkawa youth from his seated position toward his side of the cave. His voice carried the assurance of a seasoned killer with a complete timbre change from high nasally to nightstalker baritone. When Ooyama pulled Ue over to his side, he made sure to rotate him so that his back would be facing him. From there he secured his inner elbow underneath his chin with an ape's grip, clinching just enough to keep him from passing out. "You sure don't feel like an Iron Hide. Their skin's 'sposed to be as hot as lava and you... you don't fit that description so do you mind," he spoke intensely, clinching tighter with the last inflection. "...telling me exactly who you two are before I rip your fucking head off?" Ue's eyes had begun to water from the lack of air and, unlike normally, he found himself panicking under the constraint. The pressure from the choke was immense and the Uchiha was nowhere in sight. God damn you picked a good time to disappear, fucking Uchiha was Ue's second thought amid it all but he knew if he didn't act it could have meant the end.

The Grizzly unit weren't the cream of the crop when it came to shinobi; however, they also weren't the lumbering idiots that this behemoth was portraying. They were Iwagakure's front line soldiers, capable of demolishing entire villages with sheer brutality and strength. So why, then, was this one such a complete twit? It didn't take his Sharingan to realize they'd been played, to a degree, and with a sigh of agitation at both of their stupidity, Kou turned on his heel. The sight before him was nothing short of a classic hostage situation, with the lumbering hulk threatening to snap the limber Grass ninja's neck with a mere flinch of either of his gigantic arms. And though the situation was dire, Kou's face was smooth with indifference. He was a cool as a cucumber, despite the distinct crimson color his eyes had taken. If there was to be a fight, Nadare would be dead before his muscles even contracted in the attempt to snap Ue's neck. "You play a fool quite well." He was as cool as a cucumber when he spoke, and his hand sunk back to the pouch where his lone kunai lay in wait. "However, know that if you do decide to try and kill him - and I stress the word try - you'll be dead long before he is." Kou's foot slid forward along the callous cave floor, his stance lowering into something easily ready to pounce. This was Nadare's last warning. "Put him down."

"..b..bl..a..," His lips curled to croak some illegible statement. That was when he heard Kouketsu's voice pierce through the encroaching veil of darkness. It was through that abyss that he relived the incident. His intention to rob Nadare of his chakra was there from the moment he went for the handshake, but somehow or another he'd figured it out. The instant he hesitated to extract the chakra was the exact moment Nadare made his move, a mistake that as of that moment seemed largely irreparable. But when the grip began to lose it's strength and the air started flowing once more, things got a lot clearer for him. He immediately took to coughing upon his slow release but took no haste to distance himself from his portly offender. Instead, he immediately grabbed for Nadare's hand; his own would burst into blue flame upon contact that left the Iwa-nin completely stunned. Ue's own grip would steadily increase in power while he yanked whatever life energy this robust figure had to spare. This wouldn't last forever as Ooyama then took his free arm to deliver a crushing blow to the side of Ue's head, one that would send him careening toward the cave floor. The Kikkawa still fought to move however, attempting to crawl to the opposite cave side wall in order to gather his bearing. Meanwhile, Ooyama had rose to a stance and turned toward Kouketsu. "There, I put him down."

Calculating eyes patiently waited, scrutinizing every inch of the massive man's figure, looking for an opening to exploit and end this little confrontation. Even though he'd begun to release Ue, this little truce of theirs was over; there was no way they'd be able to trust him now, and the same could most likely be said vice versa. This left the trio only one choice: someone had to die. The subsequent skirmish that broke out merely a second after Ue was released was all the time that Kouketsu could've hoped for, though the pot was sweetened by the fact Nadare had managed a counter assault. As his lumbering arm swung through the air, inevitably colliding with Ue, Kou cut through the darkness like a hot knife to butter. The only hint that he'd moved was the glinting of steel, and the static trail of silver that highlighted a pitch black background. Despite his chakra reserves being in no condition to support his antics, a pair of fully evolved Sharingan revealed a myriad of possible actions before Nadare himself probably even though to execute them. It would've made conducting a proper counter to the blade seeking the fleshy underside of his jaw rather difficult, and the frightening burst of speed Kou had used to close an already meager distance certainly wouldn't have aided him any further. Either or, the blow would've been sufficient to bring the mountain-sized bastard down to his knees, before a viscous twist of the wrist put his lights out for good.

After blindly finding the other wall that allowed him to prop himself up, his eyes opened to a distortion that made the scene little more than a hazey mass of color. What he'd heard, however, sent chills up his spine. It was the ignominious final croak that normally preceded death, followed by the noticeable thump of the lifeless Ooyama Nadare. When Ue's vision finally returned what he saw set his heart on fire. Bleeding out onto the cave floor was the giant Iwa-nin who'd just attempted to kill him, yet as he lay there writhing to get air he could only damn himself for not having the medical prowess to heal his injury. He knelt down and rolled Nadare over to inspect his wound but was surprised to find his expression was one of fear.
