Name: Scouting Part I

Description: With the shinobi all gathered and stationed within the village Konoha is a safe place to be. However this doesn't mean that danger doesn't lurk on the outskirts.
Obective: Search the Land of Fire for any mysterious persons. If a missing nin is spotted or a shinobi from another country is found, do not engage. Report back to the Hokage immediately.
Reward: 50 EXP and 1,000 Ryo

The setting was about a bit before noon, give or take an hour or so until it was not morning anymore. But, it was a good time for me a young hyperactive ninja to set off on a mission. Yes, that was right a mission! To be a ninja it meant going on missions for the village, as well as protecting it and sometimes even being sent away from that said village. I, Hotaruko, was always eager to full fill a mission for the Hokage. It meant I was doing my job even if it meant babysitting, or watching over a individual who was under attack and needed to be protected as well as hidden. However, today's mission was basically to protect the village, Konohagakure. I was to survey the land outside of the village and report back with any mysterious activity, people or ninja who were not from Konoha. It was a simple task in itself, though one had to be quiet and not be seen by whoever may be lurking outside the village gates.

I would set off from my place, a small order of my weapons on my personnel just in case I did happen to run into a mishap, though I hoped I wouldn't. My equipment would consist of my main weapon, 2 packs of kunai and a light bomb for a quick escape. I wanted to travel light so that I could be swift. And, I also had my multitude of jutsus, as any ninja did. Oh! And of course today I would utilize my dark outfit as to not be easily seen. My brown eyes beamed up at the sky as the corners of my mouth turned upwards into a smile. I would then head to the gates of the village, where I would start my mission. I usually went on missions with other ninjas, but today I was by myself though I didn't really mind. I was sure there were more people sent out to scout, but the Hokage probably didn't want us to go in groups because we might be more conspicuous. And, I didn't want to give myself away to my location if there did happen to be some mysterious people on the outskirts of the village. Cause, ya know, I am a bit prone to danger..some of the time.

It would be a good ten or fifteen minutes till I reached the gates and was greeted by the guard there. I told him I was going on a mission to scout the surrounding land and showed him my mission card. He nodded and let me pass. I walked down the pathway out of the village, casually as to be conspicuous. And to make sure that no one was around or watching me I looked around, moving my head from the front and then looked over my shoulder. I did that a few times, frantically almost. I then jumped off into the bushel that lined the pathway, once I was out of view I then jumped into a nearby tree to gain my bearings.

Crouching in the tree I'd look around, making sure as to not be seen by anyone inside the forest, if there was anyone here. But, considering I wasn't that far from the village yet, I was pretty safe for the mean time. I was pretty high up in the tree so I could see a bit over some of the tree tops. Moving my hand to my forehead I tried to see as far as I could out, trying to judge where I should scout. Hmm, how many meters out I should go and then probably move around the landscape in a circle around the perimeter of the village. It sounded like a good idea to me.. though I wasn't the greatest at strategies. Arashi-chan was more so the better out of the two of us. But, as a ninja I would try my best! It was all I could do to become a great ninja.

Once I surveyed the area I would move from one tree to another, using my ninja speed to hop from tree to tree. As I took off I then realized that this might be faster if I used a clone to help me scout the other side of the area surrounding the village (granted the village was pretty huge so it would take me awhile to scout the entire area. Twice the help, half the time and work!). Once I thought I was far enough away from the village, I stopped myself at the next tree though I think I was going too fast for my own good and as I stopped I almost manged to fall out of the tree.. however, I regained my balance and caught my breath as I leaned against the trunk of the tree, standing on one of its many branches.

I relaxed a bit, just as to catch my breath so I could create a clone of myself. But, this wouldn't be an ordinary clone. It would be a clone made of lightning, which was the element or release I 'specialized' in. I'd call said clone to my aid, utilizing my Denkou Bunshin no Jutsu. A clone began to appear next to me, first starting with a spark and then they grew into a perfect copy of myself. I would utilize this clone because the clone technique we learned in the academy was similar but my lightning clone could travel just about anywhere I could, which was very handy.

With my clone set up, we'd share the speed I utilized as well as linked mental judgement so that my lightning clone could utilize the same reactions and perception as I did. This would be greatly helpful instead of some dummy clone that was just there for distraction, or to trick an enemy. I'd grin and then look across the forest to make sure that no one was around and then me and my clone would split apart in different directions. We would spread across the land and circle around the village. If my clone happened to run into someone, or something then I would know and would have my clone report back immediately to the hokage's headquarters.

As for myself, I would zig-zag through the trees from branch to branch. I'd zig-zag a few meters away as to check most of the land surrounding Konoha. One foot would land on a branch and then I would leap into the air again and land on another branch on a nearby tree. I didn't move as fast as I had been earlier but I would try to be as stealthy and silent as I could be as to not have anyone nearby become aware of my presence. I was in ninja mode at the moment and would become alert to anything that was out of the ordinary, such as an uncommon sound or movement.

My eyes would scan around me as I moved across the terrain. Anything out of the ordinary would probably catch my eye, but at the current moment I hadn't seen anything yet or anyone. As for my clone, she would move about the same as me. Her judgment and decisions altered by me as I basically controlled both of us. So far there was nothing on my clones end either, I somewhat hoped we wouldn't run into anyone but I kind of wanted to have something to report back to headquarters with. Just so that it felt like I was doing my job more but that meant that there might be some sort of threat on the village which wasn't good. However, since the shinobi inside the village have gotten back together and everything is up and back and running, so we could handle any threat that was posed against the village. Protecting the village was our job. My job! Which I hoped I did a pretty good job at.
