Important notes: this takes place before the rotting and slightly before the major outbreak of the plague. Wherein the spread of tumors was still just a rumor to be feared and not actually credited to a singular source or being 'publicly' investigated. It is not so back as to crossover into the prior mini-event however.
As such, Celes (my character), is still a student and has not yet achieved Genin status; she also has not turned thirteen yet. For reference – although I think it is unneeded since I do not foresee combat breaking out in this thread – anyone that wishes to jump in, may assume that she is still capable of all the jutsu listed in her profile, given the fact that this is not so far in the past that she has not mastered the basic skills required of Genin status and her own Katon release. That said, this is just meant to be a basic social thread to kick off my storyline, so expect nothing overly dramatic or, well, epic for that matter.
Lastly, as this is my first thread on this site, please let me know if I screwed any formatting up or missed something obvious which should not have been overlooked.

In the days prior, there had been talk of a plague that had both suddenly appeared and in turn rapidly spread among the populace of Konoha. Yet, in spite of all the signs and most importantly the rising tension present in the classroom, those still in training at the Academy were relatively kept isolated from the growing rumors. Perhaps to keep up a facade of normalcy, but most likely because, their instructors did not want to further tax already stressed students whom were preparing to take their advancement exams.
Among them, was Celes or more formally known as: Celeste Marcellus Uchiha; of a tender age of twelve (almost thirteen), lithe and rather short for age, she was nothing special if not for the name she bore. That of which could be attributed as the leading factor of the separation between her and her peers whom ran ahead of her at day's end. The sounding chime that brought conclusion to the final lecture of the day was not entirely unexpected or sudden, for many of those that sat all around her, had had their eyes glued on the clock that rested on the wall above their Sensei's desk, several minutes before dismissal was even declared. Eager to leave, most had already taken to ignoring the parting words of the Chuunin in front and instead went on packing for the trip home, shuffling about rather noisily as they did so.
Although he did not quite not-notice, he preferred to finish what he was saying rather than go off on another tangent that his pupils may just ignore in their child-like fashion. As he spoke, mostly about what would be on the exams, he erased several diagrams strewn about the board at the head. Chalk parted way to the eraser in hand and fell off in relative clumps and dustings of well, white-dust. He coughed once or twice while inhaling, and only cared to look away from the board when the chime above signaled for the end of class. His eyes just glanced over briefly. Officially relieved of duty, he turned and nodded the final approval – for those whom had not already rose from their seats – then offered a cheery: see you tomorrow kind of shooing gesture.
Then, there was the rush for the door, and chairs screeched back (some even screeched forward again as they were pushed in most however were not so considerate).
Celes not so slow and willing to stay behind, was not terribly far back in the pack, but far enough that she was still struggling with sliding a few necessities into the pouch at the side of her skirt as she rose from her place. Giving way into her shorts, she slid the remnants of some pencil shavings off her desk and into her pocket – meaning to throw them away later. With her desk cleared, she stepped out into the aisle and followed the stream of students down and out of the room. Parting a bit of her auburn hair as she passed her instructor, she was kind enough (well more kind than a few others), to give him a wave while departing from the room and into the crowded hallway. Keeping her head down, she simply followed the feet in front of her to the exit, trying with some success not to think on all those people brushing up against her as they rushed all about in many different directions.
By the time the first fresh bit of sunlight struck upon her skin, most other students had hurried their way past her. Lagging behind, she watched several of the more 'energetic,' praise the cloudless sky and jump about the puddles, both in the mud and along cobblestone that still remained from days worth of rain. Rain that had been a prominent storm system passing through with its dark clouds and gloomy fog. In its wake, came this crystal-clear day and a fresh trailing breeze that rushed cool air into her lungs as she inhaled deeply. Taking in the smells all around, she ran a hand down both the front-side and backside of her skirt flattening the wrinkles in it, and adjusted both the satchel on one side of her person and then the scroll sleeve she carried on the opposite side, assuring herself that they were both snugly in place as they aught be.
From the gates, she turned left taking to the streets proper and the most familiar of paths that led to the Uchiha Compound, where she was currently staying. Being so young and with her parents off on assignment, she was on a strict check-in basis with her fellow clan members. Especially now, with all the rumors flying around from villager to villager and with the stories they in turn told and mutated further with each telling. Freedom and leniency had become scarce, instead replaced by suspicion and fear of what was at the moment: unknown.
Strangely, that was alright. To a certain extent she could feel it as well. Not fully understanding the greater workings and dangers within Konohagakure, she could only say something felt out of place; even walking among the several students that had started this way ahead of her, that was apparent. Some of them were talking of how they were spending their time off from Academy come season's end, oblivious to the dark shadow hovering over them all. While others, were too worried about making it home on time per their parents request to chat much. Along a short breadth of walkways and alleyways, conversations both loud and soft melded all together and erected a barrier of speak along the village streets, which echoed on and on.
Celes walked on alone for a time, not so much caring that no one took up conversation with her. However, she would not shy away entirely from anyone, should they approach in clear intent. With all paths open and converging on each other, what had once been a crowd quickly separated into several sparse groups. Now, she had no reason to be uncomfortable and was almost glad to look upon the sky every now and then; with the rays of the sun – all the while – streaming and warming her face. Blinking a couple times she took in the familiar sites, the familiar corners with her blue-hued eyes. Further ahead, she knew the street would diverge in several different directions, all leading around the village in circular fashion. In Konoha, there was never a place that could be traversed without leading into another. If one tried, one could find the shortest, or the longest route to their destination.
