Yondaime- The Purge

Everything had happened so suddenly that it was hard to even believe. Konohagakure no Sato was overrun by a plague that raised tumors from the ground and rotted away people, a Demon God worshiping cult that seemed to make that murdered and flayed people throughout the village, and of course, the insurgents who were against everything that the position of Hokage stood for. Needless to say, out of seemingly nowhere, the village had fallen. Not entirely, and not publicly, but internally it was long from the glory that it once held.
She watched her friend, a close friend at that, and a man she had admired for so long crumble. The pressure of being Hokage as well as all of the events that had occurred wore on him. Jiyuu couldn't save everybody, he couldn't do for the Leaf what Ryusuke and Ichijin had done before him. But how could he when he had so much stacked against him. The insurgents wanted him out and the position nullified to the point innocent lives were being taken. Even the people themselves were beginning to turn on the Hokage, on the village itself.
Then it happened. He stepped down. Jiyuu stepped down from his position as Hokage and left the village to shambles. Or at least that's how most would most likely view it as. Kohana however simply saw a friend in need, one she couldn't possibly help despite the dire need of wanting to. He was too far gone for her to save and now it was her head that would wear the crown. Or rather the large, embroidered hat. Out of all the candidates she was chosen, Jiyuu specifically putting her name into that bid.
Though garbed in her typical attire, the red, wide brimmed hat that entitled her as the Fire Shadow sat atop her head as she took in a deep breath and stepped out onto the makeshift podium that was brought in for her to have her speech. Normally things like this would have been done at the Hokage's dwelling. Sadly, that place was in shambles due to the last insurgent attack, so this would simply have to do.
"People of Konoha, its my pleasure to introduce myself as your Yondaime Hokage. I'm Hyuuga Kohana and so you know now, there will be many changes around here." Sighing she leaned forward, staring out at all those that have gathered for her little 'coronation' of sorts. "Our village, our home, it has become an awful place to live. Plague and infection covers our streets, kills our loved ones, and still remains to unsolved and growing. A mad cult that murders people for the sake of some God and the insurgents who are trying to rebel against the Shinobi world." She eyed the crowd, having no doubt that there were most likely some of the aforementioned within the crowd.
"We have tried fighting and have only caused more damage. We have tried to experiment with the infection only for it to spread even more. As a whole, we are simply sitting here and waiting for each and every one of us to be picked off, and I, for one, will NOT stand for this!" Her fist connected with the podium, an audible groan going through the wood as it splintered here and there. "Unfortunately..." The Hyuuga trailed off, her lavender eyes being cast down, though only briefly, before looking back to the crowd. "No solution seems plausible enough that won't cause even more deaths and disease on our hands so I have come up with a sole idea that has already been backed up by a few council members."
Kohana moved from behind the podium to stand in front of it, to get closer to her people. It was weird to think of them that way though. Reaching the title of Hokage was always a distant dream. She had always wanted to use that title to get back at her family and completely destroy the Hyuuga from the inside out. However now that she was here, in this spot, with this title, it was the farthest thing from her mind. "We are to leave Konoha behind. Not forever, not only for now. We will purge this land of everything that is haunting it and rebuild anew. As your Hokage, I tell you that this decision is final and already in the process. But, again, as your Hokage I have the responsibility of getting you all through this."
Or at least...only the ones who are willing, through this....
The thought lingered but she brushed it to the side, not wanting to think about the unfortunate inner workings of her plan at the moment. "We will purge the village by fire. And by that, I mean as we speak I have ANBU placing Explosive Tags all over the village that only I can detonate when the time comes. We are to all leave and take refuge in a fortress that I have being constructed as we speak as well. All of the best craftsmen and workers I could find are slaving away to help protect you all from this."
She knew there would be outrage, she knew there would be protests, and she knew that there would be a breach in trust. But, that was the risk that she had to take as the new Hokage. After all, if they simply stayed idle and tried to figure out how to handle things like they had been, more and more would just keep dying. As Hokage she was charged with the safety of her people, and that's how she saw them being safe. Regardless, she reached up to her hat and removed it, placing it on the podium behind her before looking back out to the crowd.
"Until just recently I was just another Jounin, just another Iryou, and just another person of this village. I know home is where the heart is, but we are NOT leaving our homes, our HEARTS, we aren't leaving that behind! Houses may be destroyed, shops and restaurants may burn, and that tree you had your first kiss under? Yeah, that will probably go too. But We still have each other and we still have our land, a land we must take back! A land we must take back, and take it back without ANY more losses. This is what I am trying to do, and I hate it just as much as I'm sure some of you do. But its either this...."
There was a long pause as she turned and took the hat she had momentarily placed down in order to bring herself back down to regular person level, to now return to her role as Hokage. ".....or we twiddle our thumbs trying to overcome the unknown and watch each other die. Gather your things. Gather those trinkets and memories you cherish and hold them close. Friends! ...no, FAMILY! We are the citizens of Konoha, we are that Will of Fire that must stay lit! And in 36 hours, we will begin anew."
Post away! This thread will continue through this weekend alone. After this weekend is over, the entire village is getting nuked and then replaced with my own aesthetics (like every Kage does). So have fun and I will interact with you as you post...GOGOGOGO!
