With her first mission assigned to her, Hotarubi made her way out of the office, sprinting to the bustling streets of Konoha. The lively chatter and banter was always a warming welcome to both visitor and villager. Today was your typical day within Konohagakure, cooling breezes, clear skies, an intense rays from sun above that shone gorgeously behind the great Kage faces. Hitting the streets, Hotarubi was going full throttle to her destination, her open jacket taken a swept by the wind behind her as she ran.

"My first mission huh?"

Taking a turn, Hotarubi jumped out the way of a coming a barrel and gathering crowd, it was time to take the secret route. Sharply turning, Hotarubi darted into the blackened ally, avoiding the cats who lazily soaked up the sun. The pungent smell that pervaded the air was only bearable for the single reason that this way was less crowded and quicker. A final turn would bring Hotarubi out of the alley and back into the light of Konoha, its wondrous smell taking place within the air.

"And...here we are!"

Hotarubi said looking up and examining the tiny noodle shop. Her mission was probably not the most urgent, most incredibly important task ever given, but to her it was a simple start and she'd accept that if it opened the window to the things this mission wasn't. Walking in she was prepared to work hard and get her first mission completed and completely under her belt.

"Welcome to Ichiraku's Ramen!"

A fairly large woman said, walking towards the counter and handing two customers a giant bowl of steaming ramen. The smell was enough to have Hotarubi's mouth watering in desire. Oh how she wanted to just sit there and order some noodles and just pig out till her tummy became dissented, but that wasn't her agenda today. No she was here to do a job and she'd most definitely do it right! Looking at her, Hotarubi put on her sternest expression, which really just looked silly, but nothing less she was being earnestly serious.

"Hotarubi Arashiyama here to assist you today as you've asked!"

"Our helps here already, how wonderful. Follow me dear!"

Following the owner of Ichiraku's ramen Hotarubi was directed into the place where she'd cook and serve, maybe even wash dishes, but ti was irrelevant at this point. The woman showed her where all the ingredients were, and how to use each and every item here. She also told Hoatrubi I'd the one taking orders, making them, and taking them to the people. Intently the freckled face girl listened, absorbing all she could. The owner repeated it all again, just to be clear Hotarubi had gotten the gist of what the owner wanted her to digest.

"So Hotarubi can I count on you?"

(enthusiastic) "Yes Ma'am!"

"Okay, im trusting you, now I'll be back as fast as I can."

With that said she took her leave to go refill up on stock lost over the week. As for Hotarubi, she quickly went to the front, taking all the orders, and returned back to the cooking area. Rolling up her sleeves, she began to slave over a hot bowl of well cook noodles. The recipe was so simple, yet delicious. Working fast she made sure not to take too long on the ramen, but also not to be too quick about it. It was hard work taking and making the orders, and she kinda felt bad about the owner, but remember the smile she wore, Hotarubi knew she enjoyed what she did.

The day slowly but surely shifted into a much darker scene, nights veil encroaching upon the day. Hotarubi had lost track of time with each bowl of ramen she prepared. She had already served so many people their faces started looking the same. How could that woman do this day after day? Dread showed in her eyes as the time started ticking by painfully slow that it seemed paint would dry before she would even begin to be finished with her work for today.

(smiling) "Order up! Thank you for your patronage!"

Handing another bowl to the customer, Hotraubi watched him woof it down with vigor, savoring each bite; however she wasn't so fond as before. The once intoxicating aroma was now a complete turn-off to Hotarubi, who really could put her food away when starving, but now, she'd made so much ramen, she was utterly sick of it for the day. Back to work, she began to boil the noodles and fry the pork that'd go with it. Perhaps the easiest thing was the broth. All she had to do was add in each measurement of ingredients as instructed and let it simmer for a fixed amount of time before coming all of it together.

"I see your working hard!"

"Your back, how did it go?"

"Good, and seems like your doing wonderful,look at these stuffed belly and satisfied faces!"

The last hour was slow, and the shop only got a handful of customers. Most of the time the owner was busy putting all the stuff she'd bought up, so Hotarubi continued serving until the shop closed. From there all she did was wash dishes, and finally she had finished a hard day of work, but the feeling of accomplishment, more than made up for her physical labor. "Thank you for your help today Hotarubi."

"Your welcome, just happy I could help!"

With that Hotarubi set out once more onto the streets of Konoha, with her mission complete!

On with the next mission Hotarubi Arashiyama was assigned to take, she was already darting out her open window with the grace and lithe movements of a veteran alley cat. Her trademark red jacket fluttering freely in the breeze, her white tank top, lifting up, exposing her naked stomach to the cool air. With her heels hitting the rooftops she took off, breaking into a steady stride whilst, pinning her hair up and placing bands to restore back her usual pig-tails.

'This mission should be a lot more fun than the last...'

She thought as her mind traveled back, back into the memory of her receiving and accepting the mission. Her task was to meet up with a local businessman and craftsman who wanted to promote their work in a show of skill with a blade, it'd be a friendly sparring match to see who's forgery skills were best, but the opposition wouldn't be fighting fair, so thats why it was Hotarubi's duty and mission to take on the dangerous man hired, and prevail for her client. And Hotarubi had no plans of losing because of some underhanded schemes.

'Seems I'm already here!'

Leaping over the edge, Hotarubi slid down the walls of the alley way, her feet touching the earth with a soft thud. Her destination was a small crafting shop, but when the blond walked in, the smell of smoldering iron and steel was strong, pervading her sense of smell. It was overwhelming. Loud, thrumming sounds echoed, it was the sound of a hammer striking steel. Following it she saw a young man, his hair tied into a pony-tail, sleeves rolled up, dressed in villagers clothing. Approaching with caution she gulped before speaking.

"Um hello sir, you requested the assistance of a shinobi?"

"So they sent you, huh?"

The blacksmith surveyed Hotraubi with interest, his hardened eyes abrasive upon her slender frame. Biting her lip she already knew why he said what he had, it was because she was a female. Men were so egotistical she thought, but getting aggravating at the client was no way for her to complete this mission, she'd have to bare with it, no matter how stupid. Taking a step closer she took a brief moment to see what it was that he was crafting, it was a sword, blood red from the heat needed to fold it. It was amazing how swords were made, she thought, before turning her attention back at to what was of importance.

"I'm Hotarubi Arashiyama, and here to fight for you in the competition!"

"Glad to make your acquaintance than"

The man would hold out his hand, and without hesitation Hotarubi would grasp hold of it, but just as that happened a rather tall man would enter, his entire demeanor scream he had cash. Hotarubi watched as he strolled in as if he owned the place and he walked straight past the blond girl, shaking the blacksmiths hand. Than he turned around with a haughty laugh, looking at Hotarubi he smiled. "Your the one they sent?" Hotarubi would nod as she leaned against the wall, where dozens of masterfully crafted weapons hung.

"Okay, than listen up. You'll be fighting against a man known as quick strike Hayase. He's a pretty good swordsmen, and he usually only does work like body guard an what not, but our opposition thought they could use him to pull a fast one on us. You'll be fighting him tomorrow midday and by than my boy Ukita will have your fighting tool done. "

Hotarubi listened closely to what he said. She was suppose to best some hired bodyguard called quick strike, however she wasn't too worried. She was by far no mastered swordsman, but she was adept in its use, and she was more than sure she'd compensate with her close, combative nature.

"I'm almost done here, you can stay the night, I want the blade to feel familiar to you by tomorrow."

"Sounds good."

Hotarubi spent the rest of that day watching the blacksmith go to work, the proverbial chime of metal harshly banging against metal reverberated, hot, amber sparks showering the air with each strike. The room soon became extremely hot, causing Hotarubi to rid herself o her jacket. Most of her time was laying on the floor, but she made sure to lay far enough so that she was not mistakenly burned by the jumping sparks on accident.

"So, how long have you been doing this kinda stuff?"

The question came abruptly from the freckled face girl, hers shut as night encroached, stalking the once blue skies. Nightfall would come soon enough. "For about Fifteen years.My father taught me when I was younger, prolly about your age."

Hotarubi's stomach would slowly elevate with each breath she took, the pale, long scar across her belly tingled from the touch of the air directly hitting it. Hotarubi was excited for tomorrow, she hadn't spared anyone before, she did all her training alone and to be honest she didn't expect to be assigned a mission with actual conflict for quite sometime. It just felt like she could let loose, even if the fight wasn't one of danger.

"Finished Hotarubi!"

"Finally! Let me see."

Hotarubi said springing to life as she kicked herself upright.Just as she landed upon the balls of her feet, she saw the blackmsith wipe the sweat away from his forehead, the perspiration dripping from his brow. He must have been exhausted from hammering away at the folded steel she thought as she took a cloth wiping the weapon clean. It was like magic, how he just took a piece of scrap an turned it into a sleek, killing instrument. She marveled at is beauty for a moment before he held it out to her.

"Try it out, you'll be using this in the competition. I assure you this sword will not fail you!
"

He'd give the blade a small toss and Hotarubi in turn would catch the hilt, she was amazed at how light it felt within her grasp. In the mood, Hotarubi worked her way through a series of poetic strikes, gracefully waving around the weapon as if it were her arm. The blacksmith watched in silence, his eyes not faltering from her vivid display. Though a novice, Hotarubi's movements were concise, and elegant, having a appeal that only a woman could offer. This went on for some time until finally tired from the heat of the room, she handed the blade back to the blacksmith.

(scratching head) "The sword was great ummm..."

"Takasu."

(wiping her nose with her thumb) "Well it had a good feel to it, I'll defintetly be able to hadnle this quick strike!"

"Of course you can, your wielding something made by me after all. My reputations on the line so I am really counting on you!."

Nodding, Hotarubi went back to her spot on the floor as Takasu, placed a finishing on the sword. With night finally having taken over the sky, the light of the moon illuminating Konha's streets under the
veil of night. When Takasu finished he put up his crafting tools and waved to Hotarubi. She had to sleep now, but with all that was to happen tomorrow it was easier said than done. Closing her eyes she laid there, upon the threshold of reality and dreams, until finally her consciousness was spirited away by her dreams.

Without warning the night sky vanished, giving birth to amber light as the day converged upon the night, while Hotarubi sleep, oblivious to this change that happened everyday without falter. Squinting her eyes she only half way felt the touch of Takasu as he tried to wake her up. Reality flickered into view from her hazels eyes as a yawn escaped her parted lips. Her body felt so sore from sleeping on the floor the other night, so she closed her eyes, wishing to just return to the realm of dreams, where all things were right and nothing was wrong.

"Hey! Hey, Hotarubi, wake up!"

I final nudge upon her shoulder would fully awake the blond, her eyes held shut, only squinting barely so that she could see what was happening. For a moment she didn't know where she was as she sat upright, her hair a loosened mess. With a dull look across her face she turned her eyes to Takasu who was looking back at her. "Ughhh. Its morning already?" She asked scratching her back and wiping the sleep from her eyes.

"Yeah, you should get ready the competition will start no later than an hour from now."

"What?"

Hopping to her feet, Hotarubi quickly grabbed her things from the floor, throwing on her red jacket, and putting her hair back into its usual fashion. After having Takasu showing her somewhere she could quickly wash up, Hoatrubi slapped her cheeks, ready to get this mission done and over with. Walking out into the heat and onto the streets of Konoha she and Takasu took off to the miniature stage set up for the local event. The walk was quick and upon approaching Hoatrubi could see the already gathering crowd. Swallowing a hard spot lodged within her throat she and Takasu made their way onto the stage where the announcer stood.

(looking at takasu) "Time already huh?"

(looking at hotarubi) "Yep"

Standing on the stage, Hotarubi looked out into the crowd whilst biting her lip from anxiousness. She and Takasu were the first on the stage, but she could see the business man making his way through the awaiting masses. There was no sign of her opponents, not yet anyway. The announcer was the next to come, he was bald, and quite the round man. Hotarubi found herself gawking at him and if it were not for Takasu jutting her in the side her stare might have stayed there till he himself noticed. Finally the crowd reacted to something as they cheered, noise pervading the proximity.

(looking at hotarubi) "There here..."

Whispering into her ear, Hotarubi quickly turned her gaze on the new comers who stepped onto the stage, the man she took notice of was the well built one with silver hair. The other two were of no concern to her, she was focused on this very large opponent who towered over her own small disposition. It wasn't size that determined a fight though, not for a shinobi at the very least. This Hotarubi knew and understood all to good, even her, who didn't have the highest confidence in the barrel.

(Glaring at quickstrike) I see Takasu

"Ladies and gentlemen, today we will have a showcase of skill, where two warriors are pitted together, using a sword crafted by a well known craftsman. The winner of this friendly competition will earn their shop much praise and bragging rights. Now first we have fighting for the shop owner Takasu Hakamine, Hotarubi!"

The crowd cheered as Hotarubi stepped forward, taking ahold of the sword Takasu made. Looking at Takasu she walked towards the middle of the makeshift stage taking a deep breath she closed her eyes, and cleared her mind. "Now fighting for Seishiro's shop, Quick strike!" Roars and cheers of affection sang out, but Hotarubi did not falter, she wasn't scared. He stepped foward, holding his own blade made for use by his employer. Hotarubi glared at him as she gripped the katana harder.

"The rules are simple. Cutting is allowed, but no death strikes fully going through, If you have one stop your attack before your blade meets your opponents flesh. Three contacts wins the contest, now are you ready contestants?"

(smirking) "Yes!"

(grinning) "Of course!"

"Than began!

This couldn't have been all that difficult she thought, after all, she only had to get three possible or actual strikes. Nothing fancy, there were no rule against a little foot action, but this was mostly to show who could craft the superior blade, so she wouldn't use much Taijutsu, but enough if she was in need of a helping hand. With the start of the contest she and him unsheathed their blades almost in complete harmony, the silver reflecting the amber light that speckled the earth.

"They send a mouse to the lion den? Pathetic..."

(grinding teeth) "What, I'll show you who's the mouse chump!"

Flicking her wrist, with the hilt of the sword held firmly within her left palm, she took off in his direction. Caught off guard he was little impressed with her speed, but it wasn't entirely that great. With fluid grace he extended the sword forward, attempting to poke her. Was he serious that attack could really kill her, she thought as she spun, mere inches from the blade, she'd grab ahold of her sword with two hands and extend it, but she took care to make sure it wouldn't actually cut him.

In return he simply ducked, stepping in he grabbed Hotarubi by her head, his hand completely turning her vision black as he slammed her to the ground and with a flick of his wrist swiped at her chest drawing blood and tearing her shirt. The crowd rocked with excitement from the action on the balls of their feet with excitement. "...."

"Like I said, a mouse!"

Not a cry passed her tightly pressed lips as the judged stopped, he fight, awarding one mark to Quick Strike. "Thats fucking bull, he grabbed me..." She wasn't prepared for such an attack, in normal combat she would had been, but with the ruled the odds were against her. Hopping to her feet, she ditched her red jacket, tossing it to the ground with no regard at all. "Hotarubi, you okay?" Takasu asked from the sidelines, tightly holding his seat.

"I'm fine, just a flesh wound...."

"You may start, now!"

With the battle restarted the man known as quick-strike flicked his blade, flinging the blood at its tip in front of Hotarubi. He was really pushing ti now, Hotarubi's expression was already like that of a feral animal, far past the breaking point. The animal was unleashed and she was cutting loose now. Now she was serious, charging at him sparks aimlessly lit the sky as their blades clashed, the sound of unmerciful steel pitted against steel sang out, in loud, thunderous strikes. Hoatrubi was on the defensive, back pedaling, due to Quick-strike being the larger of the two, but she had a plan for this.

"Oraa!"

Once both blades came to a stationary standstill, Hotarubi flipped her blade upon its flat side and dragged it against the opponents sword, and with the closing speed of a shark who was tailing its fleeing prey she stepped in, propelling herself from her back foot, her energy gathered at her palm. With a powerful push, the flat of her hands met his sternum, and almost instantly he flew back, his heels dragging across the ground, but she wasn't finished , with all her speed she closed in, and once he stopped backpedaling the tip of her sword was at his throat.

"Stop!"

With the fight stopped a point was awarded to Hotarubi, uplifting cheers were exuded from the crowds, a smirk passing over her freckled face. Quick strike appeared dazed as if he wasn't expecting such an frontal attack, his craziness however turned into a fierce war look as he took his stance. Weapon in hand Hotarubi took her stance. Things were heating up now in the ring, Hotarubi's adrenaline on the edge as she awaited for the announcer to give the signal. "Start!"

"Here I come Mr. Lion!"

Taking off both Hotarubi and the man known as Quick-Strike exchanged, heavy, fast blows with one another, their souls pitted against one another. The sparking of weapons howling as they constantly barked to each other, a sweet melody only warriors who held blades would understand. Quick-Strike's form was undoubtedly better than Hotarubi, but what she lacked she made up for with speed and her shinobi training, but if this were to be a fight of ninja's he would had been lost his life to her blade, but that wasn't the route things in this battle were to take.

(panting) "Is that all you got?"

Both warriors were getting sluggish as the seemingly never ending clash of swords continued. Heavy pants audible under the sound of metal upon metal passed Hotarubi's lips, she needed to find a weak spot and do it soon. She didn't want to get another mark with a move derived from Taijutsu, she wanted to do it with purely the sword Takasu had forged. Summoning what was left of her, she began to encircle him, leaping from one side to another with unbelievably fast movements, until her blade finally nicked his shoulder, drawing a small trail of blood.

"Stop!"

The announcer said awarding a point to Hotarubi. This allowed both of them to catch their breaths. Hotarubi was told she was doing good, just one more and she'd have completed her mission; however Quick-Strike didn't receive such a warm welcome at his corner. After a moment of reprieve both contestants stood before each other once more, both fists clenching the deadly steel within their hands tightly. "Begin!"

Description: A local businessman and craftsman is attempting to promote his excellent craftsmanship. In a show of good sportsmanship, a rival craftsman shop has been issued a challenge. A friendly spar between two contestants to see whom's weaponry and creation was the best. Our client has reason to believe that they will be fighting dirty, as they have hired a rather dangerous individual to participate as their sponsor. Take on the competition as the client's sponsor, using a special katana, crafted to be unbreakable.
Obective: Fight as our client's represenative and prove his craftsmanship is best.

The tango of flashing sparks and fast blurs flickered about the stage. Each blow was precise, well placed and seeking to subject the other to the oppressors will. Sliding back, Hotarubi quickly brought her own weapon overhead, staving off a most powerful strike from Quick-Strike, Hotarubi faltered and he sought to take advantage of the situations. Raising his foot he kicked the blond squarely in the chest, his weapon already at the ready, a breath away from her shoulder, it was as if the steel could lick her flesh cleanly from the bone.

"Stop!"

With the battle stopped both contestants were now tied, and the next point would win them the match. The crowd clapped in awe at the skill displayed by both Quick-Strike and Hotarubi. Sighing Hotarubi smirked at the silver haired man and in turn he smiled at her. Twice she'd fallen for almost the same thing, but thats what fatigue did to people, she could had easy gotten her vigor back, but she wouldn't resort to something so low, she'd win the honorable way. "With the match tied, next point wins. Begin!"

"Hope your ready Quick-Strike!"

"You too girl!"

"I was already ready!"

Both Hoatrubi and Quick-Strike charged at one another, steel clashing and sparks flashing. The crowd was on the edge of their seats watching the cinematic action that was happening before them. Most were shouting Hotarubi's name, praising her, and the other lot, Quick-Strike is what they chanted. The repeating strike of blades played through the same as during most of the battle, Quick-Strike having the edge. Knocked aback, Hotarubi was sliding upon the balls of her heels, when Quick-Strike sought to take advantage of once more but it wasn't happening. Not the same ways as the times before.

"Not this time Quick-Strike!"

As Quick-Strike rushed in, Hotarubi prepared herself to react. His blade swung horizontally and Hotarubi pressed all her weight back, till her back touched the ground below, and with momentum and inertia playing its role Quick-strike ran overhead Hotarubi and without a shadow of a doubt Hotarubi's sword was pressed into his back, and the crowd roared, frantic cries and a few boys overwhelmed the stage, seemingly shaking it.

"Folks we have a winner!"

Holding up Hotarubi's arm, the freckled face girl couldn't help but smile real wide as Takasu and the business man rushed towards her, showing their appreciation with hugs, hand shakes, and congratulatory comments. As for Quick-Strikes side, the people were extremely infuriated, angry and more than anything disappointed, but there was nothing they could do. "You were great Hotarubi!"

"Thank you!"

A little bit of celebration went on and soon after Hotarubi found herself back at the craftsman shop. She had met a new friend and also completed her mission, what else could she have asked for? "Be safe and be sure to stop by Hotarubi, it was fun meeting you!"

"Likewise Takasu."

With that the girl took her leave ready to report her success. She felt happy to have part in the mission, but now, she had to get back on her grind,and focused on the hustle of missions. Konaha's yellow rush had to make a name for herself and this was one way she knew she could.
