Dark, damp, yet humid at the same time; Kiri was a rather odd village although Helios didn't allow its rather unsettling weather to get him down. He was, after all, going to be making this place his new home eventually; he just needed to be given the chance and opportunity to show that he could be a valuable asset to the village despite the fact he was forcefully conscripted. Nonetheless he understood that Konoha's infrastructure was on a decline at the moment, and he hoped Kiri was the solution.

The boy made his way to the Kiri mission office, donning his new Kiri headband to display himself as a Mist shinobi; he could only begin to imagine the reaction from people seeing a Leaf shinobi heading to the offices so care-freely. For a moment he felt a sense of awkwardness as he ascended the stairs as the mists parted through his eyes the further he climbed. Eventually he found himself in front of a pair of dark, dull wooden doors. Parting them slowly he took to the inside of the structure.

It was not set out like that of the Hidden Leaf; instead of various stair-wells leading to different corridors, it was just one single room with different doors leading to separate smaller rooms flanking on the north, east and west facia, while two staircases lead to a second floor and balcony. In the middle of this room sat one Kiri Jounin flanked on each side by a Chuunin. The Jounin looked up with a pair of narrowed eyes.

"... I've not seen your face around here before, but with that headband you must be from here. Who are you?"

Helios couldn't think of what to say as soon as he was questioned upon his identity. It was obvious that no one would recognize him considering he'd only been in the village for about an hour or two, taking into account how long he'd been unconscious for prior; the only people who knew who he was were his new captain and the two ANBU who accompanied him in the interrogation chamber. But, nonetheless, he decided to provide him with the truth. Or at least half of it.

"Helios Marushagan, sir," The boy introduced himself first and foremost; if he was going to be part of the Kiri shinobi squads then people would have to know who the hell he was. "I'm a defector from the Hidden Leaf in order to support the Hidden Mist." The boy would hide the fact that he got his ass kicked and forcefully conscripted into Kiri under pain of death; the guy didn't need to know such "insignificant" details.

The Jounin, however, didn't look at all impressed. He gave a small sigh as he rubbed his thumb and index finger under his eyes at the ridge of his nose as if to show that this kind of thing had happened before. "I'm not at all surprised," the Jounin muttered with a sense of irritation under his breath. He use a single hand to rummage through some of the papers on his desk. "Scumbag refugees and deserters like you have been cropping up left and right since the fall of Ame and the war between Suna and Iwa." Before Helios could retort to the insult the Jounin slammed a piece of paper, a mission document, in front of the boy. "All the noobs like you must do this first."

Helios looked through the mission statement; kill some wolves, so it said. Helios looked up with a concerned look on his face before putting the sheet back down on the desk. "That's all? How hard can this be?"

The four of them -- Helios, the Captain and his two Chuunin -- made their way to one of the doors that flanked on the western facia. The doorway superseded a large, long declining staircase that seemed to stretch forever, even with the various number of torches places on the walls on either side. The four of them descended until they reached a small room that seemed to be some sort of wash room. In the middle was a small waster fountain-like bowel with fresh water despite the sides of the bowel showing colours of dried blood. The walls were flanked by mounted benches that too were of the same darkened colour.

"Let me give you your briefing, noob," the Jounin began his speech despite the fact that Helios was more than confident in his own abilities. "You'll be up against wolves. The wolves are much larger than your average ones with a ravenous aggression to match. Oh and, they've not had anything to eat for a few days so, to them, it's life and death. Just like you, really. When you're ready, step through those gates." The jounin finished as he pointed at an open portcullis with his thumb behind him.

"An animal is an animal," Helios said with a smirk on his face as he held his katana steady with his left hand, making his way to what he could make out was a large arena. "If it bleeds, I will kill it."

The arena stank of the stench of musk, sweat and blood to the point where it felt like this place hadn't been cleaned since the day of its conception. The flooring was like bare stone, rock and dirt giving the assumption that this entire area was built upon bedrock. The arena was supported by four tall yet rather thin pillars, which is rather baffling considering they were holding up another entire building above them and still they haven't reached their shearing point. Like the floor, the walls were only of bare rock with a scattering of lanterns around them to keep the place lit, although the walls and pillars had signs of bloodshed while the floor remained clean, though perhaps the dirt absorbed it in a manner in which sand does.

As Helios looked around his attention was caught at the high pitched grind of metal upon metal as three other portcullis' on the north, west and south walls began to slowly open. Quickly, two wolves on the north and south entrance dashed out while the western one, the one directly facing Helios, slowly walked out. The two at each side of Helios quickly dashed around to his blind spots in order to flank him, using pack tactics. Each one growled in hunger and bared their sharp teeth and hunger-driven slobber.

"Ten seconds," Helios muttered under his breath as he placed a hand in his pocket. Quickly with two fingers and a thumb he began to fumble for an Explosive Tag and a Kunai, wrapping the former around the handle of the latter. "that's all this will take."

The wolves at the rear attacked first although Helios could tell my their ravenous growls as they lunged forwards. However, the boy was not particularly impressed as he jumped straight upwards using extraordinary leg strength as he saw two of the wolves dive into one-another before crashing into the one at the front head first, knocking all three of them down in a smashing collision.

His feet planted him firmly behind the last two that were now only a few feet in front of him, although their heads twisted and turned as he vaulted over them. As they turned to attack though Helios had already unsheathed his katana and, with one horizontal swing, sliced cleanly through their head and neck width-ways, leading to a nice revealing split through their faces as blood and other pieces of organic matter spewed forth from the open cuts.

As the two wolves dropped to their sides in a pile of bloody meat and fur Helios could notice that the other three wolves in the distance were nearly up and charging. His free hand quickly launched from his pouch forwards as he released the kunai, at the same time sheathing his katana. The wolf in front took the kunai to the face as the other two sprinted past. Before the two standing could get much further, Helios quickly brought both hands together for a seal.

"Realase!" Helios muttered as the tag around the kunai exploded, blowing away the wolf it was attached to as well as the other two who were flanking it from either side. The primary wolf now had a cavernous wound where its head once was, while the other two wolves had parts of their body missing from the blast radius as well as heavy burns. It seemed the two were on the verge of dying quickly. "Hm. Eight seconds." Helios gave a smirk as he beat his previously predicted time.

"Hm. Impressive, noob. It seems you're not useless afterall." The jounin yelled through the bars of the portcullis with a smirk on his lips. Seems the mission was a success.
