Afterwards the ninja can report back to the employer with exact details. [white] Fang scratched her head. The mission itself this time was simple. Ridiculously so. Watching a bridge for an hour at what had to be close to midnight? What a boring task. Still it was easy money and Fang had nothing else planned . She might as well accept the job and be done with it. An hour's worth of nothing for ryo? Fang sawa no problems with this one, no problems at all. Besides she could spend some time trying to figure out exactly what she was going to do with the wolf pup that was trudging along behind her. She'd clearly killed its parents, and the pup was blinded in one eye, but it seemed to have decided to follow her anyways. She didn't even know if the pup was male or female because every time she'd tried to touch it, it had gone scampering out of the way, growling. Still, the tiny wolf was still following her around. Maybe it was shy or something, or lonely. Well lonely Fang could understand somewhat. She didn't exactly have anyone to take care of her and rely on, but then again she didn't need it either. Fang was a strong, independent woman. Either way she was now approaching the bridge, Wolf (Fang's temporary name for the little pup) in tow. As she had expected at this late hour. It was probably close to midnight if the hour hadn't passed yet. Just as she had expected at this time of night, the street and the bridge both were completely void of people. There wasn't even any wind, and Fang was grateful that both the heat and humidity were down and that the night was clear. The moon had already risen high into the sky. Fang took a look at it, then found a little section of a waist-high brick wall to lean on while her observation began. Please...please let there be something happening tonight. I want the money, but this mission is really going to test my patience. She shook her hair back and on impulse tugged on the ribbon holding it into a pony tail, sending her crimson hair cascading down her back. It was...something new she was trying out, though she realized in retrospect that everybody could see it except for her. Perhaps it'd be easier if she walked over to the bridge herself and looked into the water. The moon was full and in the cloudless night provided more than enough illumination to let Fang see what was going on around her. Not that that meant much.

A slight chill ran up her spine as a cold breeze picked up almost immediately after that thought. Somebody else might have gotten spooked by something like that, but Fang would have liked anything to have happened. She couldn't have been there more than ten minutes already and she was started to get bored. She looked down at Wolf, who was busy scratching himself behind an ear with his rear foot. Damn, even he looks bored... Fang sat there and thought of what to do. Maybe she could pass that time by doing something with the pup. Looking around she picked up a stick off of the ground and waved it in front of Wolf who stopped scratching himself to look over at Fang. "See the stick, Wolf? Go get it!" With that the redhead side-armed the stick away and watched along with the wolf pup as it spiraled off into the night in the grass of someone's yard. After it landed, there was a pause and then the little wolf went back to scratching itself. She scoffed. "Well, a whole lot of help you are. At least you can find something interesting to do with yourself. All I get to do is watch a bridge..." Fang narrowed her eyes, what the hell kind of things were "rumored" about this bridge anyways? It was late at night, and nobody was walking around. This entire town shut down after dark, it seemed. Well, not entirely true. She'd passed a tavern on her way in that had a nice crowd and plenty of food and drink by the sounds coming from inside. The scent of the food had been mouthwatering too, only managing to remind Fang that she hadn't had much to eat today. She'd get food, and Fang would definitely get a drink or two after this mission was completed as she turned her attention back to the bridge and saw that yes, there was still nobody there. "I hope you can keep yourself amused, Wolf. This is gonna be a long night..." Fang rolled her shoulders, and then folded her arms again and stared at the bridge. Daring it to do something. Daring anything to do something. [/white]

Fang's natural impatience and desire for action, no matter how small, meant that she had moved from leaning against the little concrete and brick wall and had moved to pacing now, Wolf-trudging along behind her. "Damn, would something just happen already? I'm getting bored out of my mind!" She took another glance at the bridge. Still completely empty. Nobody had even walked past it. In fact she hadn't seen anybody since she'd gotten to the bridge in the first place. Fang wondered about that. Sure she could understand small towns seemed to go to sleep and wake up earlier, but that was mostly due to things like having farms and such. It was rather difficult to do work when you couldn't see what you were doing. Still, even for a sleepy little town like Mist, this place was like death. No, Fang was sure even death had more going on than this place. It was actually kind of creepy how utterly still everything was. It was making Fang edgy. If she had something to take the edge off...oh that's right. Fishing around in a pocket, Fang remembered a couple of pieces of jerky she'd put in to actually eat earlier. Since she hadn't, she figured that she should now. Fang heard a stomach growl loudly, and after realizing it wasn't hers, looked down at her feet where the wolf pup was sitting and staring at the jerky in her hand. "Eh? You want some?" Now that she thought about it, she didn't recall seeing the wolf eat anything all day. It was probably just as hungry as her, maybe hungrier depending on how well it had eaten before Fang had taken it away. "You'll owe me." She tossed down about half of her jerky, which the wolf gobbled up greedily and then stared at the other half that Fang was even now chewing on. She looked at him and shook her head before turning her gaze back on the empty bridge. "You're a wolf aren't you? Go catch something. There's probably some cat's out here or something...dogs eat cats don't they?" The redhead sighed and shook her head, tossing down the last few bites of her jerky to the wolf pup which had started to whine. "I can't believe it...I'm bored enough that I'm having a conversation with you. You can't even talk back, and I doubt you understand me." Fang sighed. Hopefully this wouldn't go on too much longer. She only had to stay an hour anyways. [/white]

Her own pacing had begun to annoy even her and so now she sat with her back on the wall, her sword sheath propped up and leaning on her shoulder. She supposed the worst part was that she didn't have anything to really observe the passage of time. Gut instinct told her it hadn't been half an hour, but she supposed she'd just have to wait and figure it out. The town had a clock tower, sure, but it wasn't visible from near the bridge. She tried throwing another stick, but the pup just stared at her and then laid down, outside of her reach. "Ungrateful little...I spared your life, you can at least do something." As if to answer, the wolf pup gave a wide yawn, revealing all the sharp little teeth it had. Fang still didn't have any real idea of what exactly she was going to do with the wolf pup. Taking it had been much more of an impulsive response than anything else. She'd liked the look in it's eyes, even if one of them were blind. It reminded Fang of herself in some ways. That tenacity had impressed her, even if it was from a dumb animal. Fang sighed. Still nobody at, or even near, the bridge except for herself and the wolf pup. She had to wonder again, just how long she'd taken. The time seemed to be going much slower than it normally did, but Fang thought it was mostly due to the fact that she wanted this to be over with. Times like those always seemed to drag out the time of anything. Well, so did excitement in some ways. Hell even now, she could recall her first duel with her father in vivid detail, and as she closed her eyes and envisioned it, it was almost like watching it in slow motion. And there was that wierd sensation again. Fang frowed and touched her chest lightly with her gloved right hand. She hadn't had much to eat outside of the jerky, and that was still good. It wouldn't cause any sort of indigestion. Not to mention that this was definitely not around the stomach. What the hell was it then? Fang shook her head, and focused her gaze on the bridge. She may be as bored as hell, but she was going to do the mission right.  [/style][/white]

Fang had hardly done anything and it was clear that nothing was going to happen. She had better ways to spend her time than waste it looking at an empty bridge. Where was that tavern, she needed a drink, and badly. She pushed herself up into a standing position, spooking the wolf pup whom the redhead was pretty certain had been sleeping up until that point. It sprang up, yipped and then started to growl at Fang.  "I have to stay awake, so do you. Tough luck, Wolf." It simply growled at her more, and then paced around, trying to find that same comfortable spot it had inhabited before. "Oh no you don't. I was serious." She went down to scoop up the wolf by the scruff of the neck, but she'd been a bit slower than she'd been out at the den in the water country, or maybe he was expecting it more this time... Either way he drove his sharp, pointy little teeth into the back of Fabngs hand. Fang had worse. A little nibble from a wolf pup was nothing compared to the bite of a full-fleged hunting dog. Still she used the opportunity to snatch the dog with her other hand, and bring it up to eye level where she stared it down. "That...hurt..." She growled out, her voice low. To her surprise the wolf pup seemed to calm down a little bit. Maybe she just had to be assertive with it. Fang shrugged and let the wolf drop. The fall wasn't very far, but the wolf made a little yipe and went over to the wall and watched Fang warily, with its tail tucked between his legs. She sighed and placed her sword in the back of her belt where it normally rested. She'd taken it out so she could sit earlier, but that wasn't necessary anymore since she was standing again. "Damn, I better charge 'My Employer' extra for this. Shitty-ass mission..." She sighed. There were a dozen things that Fang could think of that she' prefer to be doing than this. Huh...funny...now that she thought about it, almost every one of them involved her father some way. Most of them were either competing with him, or somehow making herself strong enough to beat him. More than any other person he seemed to have piqued Fang interest. She'd had other rivals, but none had invaded her mind to the same level. Fang couldn't help but wonder why...[/white]

Fang had closed her eyes to think over some things. Just thinking (mostly about her history with the snow village), and yet the damnable wolf pup had walked up and bit her again, probably thinking she was asleep and could get away with it. To say that Fangwas annoyed was probably a bit of an understatement, though a little corner of her mind said that such a fiesty, ill-mannered beast like that was a good fit with her own personality. Regardless the little wolf was surprisingly agile and had managed to avoid Fang as she'd chased after him for the past few minutes. Finally having enough, Fang took a breath in. Being mocked by an animal was not her particular idea of a good time. Hasten! She didn't cast the "companion" spell with it. She already had the reflexes necessary to follow the dog's moves, she just didn't have the speed to actually act on them. With that spell though, she caught up to the wolf pup fast, and the thing yipped and squirmed again trying, in vain, to make an escape. "Now I've got you you little...huh?" Fang raised her head and looked around, the squirming wolf in her hands completely forgotten. "What is this...?" Something was wrong, and she vaguely heard that the wolf had started to make less of the yipping protests, and had settled into a faint whine. There...was something there in the wind. Fang could feel it, but she couldn't put a finger on it. She dropped the wolf, who scampered behind her and crouched low, growling soft and its hackles up. With her hands now free, she partially drew the katana from its sheath. She looked over at the bridge, which she could still see all of if she focused through the fog. Fang whirled around as she realized that there was now fog. What was strangest was that it seemed to be centered only around the bridge. She could see other area's of town that looked perfectly fine and clear, and the night sky was still out and clear. Fang felt the hairs on her neck raise, but nothing else happened. There was no movement outside of the wolf pup behind her slowly backing its way closer to the concrete wall so nothing could get behind it. Fang followed suit, and kept herself low and tense. There was definitely something going on with that bridge. She could see why none of the townsfolk seemed to wander outside at night, and avoided this bridge if they were.   [/white]

So far, the only thing she'd been able to detect that was out of place was the fog surrounding the bridge for obvious reasons. Eventually the fog began to clear. Fang didn't trust it though. She still hadn't seen anybody, but she didn't have any clear way to explain exactly what had just happened. Fang knew some of her old mercenary comrades would have been pissing themselves. They had been a superstitious bunch, now that she thought about it. Fang was more inclined to say the fog was made with magic, but that didn't answer the questions of what kind...and for what purpose? The fog had started up, lasted a few minutes, and then dissipated. Fang didn't like it. Something was definitely suspicious. But if it wasn't a thing that could be solved through an application of pure force, then the redhead had to admit to herself that she couldn't do anything about it. She'd leave something like solving this to the thoughtful types, like 'Her employer" She breathed in again, and waited, but the fog didn't return, nor did anyone else show up. The wolf pup had calmed down as well, though it was still quiet. It looked like everything was back to normal. Eva took in a breath and sighed, finally relaxing her grip on the katana and fully sheathing it once more. She still kept her hand floating close to it, just in case something similar happened again. If it were a mage, she could deal with that. If it turned out to be something else...then at least Fang would feel considerably more comfortable in confronting...whatever it was. As she waited and the minutes inched on by, noting else happened, and she finally relaxed her body as well. Her mind was still wound tight though and Fabg stood with her back to the wall opposite the bridge. She pulled out the ribbon and tied her hair up with it. If something unexpected happened, she wanted the hair as out of her way as possible. She sighed, but kept her gaze fixed firmly on the bridge. "I'm definitely going to need a drink after this..."   [/white]
