It seemed things were improving for Jett. Not only had he been asked to fight bandits, test his strength against giant rhinos, and deal with delinquent academy students, but now he was being placed on guard duty. With each passing day, and each new mission, he found himself dealing with tougher situations, and having more responsibility and trust placed upon him. He was ecstatic! Positive things that helped him forget his troubled past, sorrow and anger alike, was always a welcome thing. Soon, he would have to kick his search into overdrive. When he was given a mission to go out of the village again, and perhaps to one of the other nations, that would be when he would start asking around, and searching.
Guard duty was a big word to explain what he was doing. He was in a safe district, yes, with plenty of help, but it was still a step in the right direction. Others were beginning to trust that he could handle tougher jobs. That was a good thing. It meant, among other things, that they were not prying into his past, and not concerned with the fact that he was a part of not one, but two criminal families. He never committed any crimes (killing his abusive father and brothers was clearly self defense), and had always done whatever he could to help out others. Protecting the villagers from many dangers was only one aspect of what he did to help out the innocent people of Kirigakure.
”Ohayo Yogiri-san!” came the call of one of the other nearby shinobi on guard.
”Ohayo, Suzuma-san.” If any trouble occurred, Jett would not be alone. He did not doubt he could handle things, though there was always a tinge of doubt in his life. When things got tough, he did tend to begin to doubt himself, even if he did not give up trying. He would never give up trying, because to give up trying was the same as dieing. At least, in his mind it was.
