Her dome technique was just barely fast enough to catch Hotaru before she would escape the 10 meter limit and therefore gave Madoka and her clone an idea as to her direction and general area. The duo would then split ways, one would head straight whilst the real Madoka, taking her Naginata, would run ahead to her right; The ash continued to conceal both her clone and her own movements. Shortening the distance between herself and her Sensei from 15 to 5 meters away, she would then use a simple Henge Transformation2 and turn herself into a small, harmless bird and take flight from her spot. The smoke had disperse as quickly as it had appeared, but by this time Madoka would have effectively used the cover of the ash to her advantage. The clone made its way towards the new obstacle, beckoning Akuma to follow as she would pass him. The real Madoka would have soared above into the cover of trees surrounding the now visible Hotaru. She would be only a meter and a half apart from the large, towering block of obsidian where she would ready herself for her next attack. [The Motto]

Of course this was nothing more then a joke for his new teacher. She was much more skilled then these graduates who still held the title of a Genin. His attack a failure, as he couldn't reach her in time for him to get a proper attack to disrupt her seals, but he was to slow to comply.

Now Madoka, had many abilities to combat the teacher, including her own affinity to Katon chakra. Now she stood on top of a large pillar created by her Lava abilities. It was quite irritating that no one could keep up with the abilities she had and how she moved. It was all apart of being a professional it seemed.

With that, he utilized a step technique, one that would miraculously increasing his speed at near instantaneous levels, about ten meters ahead of the game, it would then reveal himself to be right in front of the large pillar that she stood on. He continued to await any movements from the teacher before attempting anything.

Shunpo (Flashing Light Steps)

Type: Supplementary / Taijutsu / High-Speed Movement
Range: 0 - 10 meters
Stamina: Low
Special: Allows the user to move in a linear fashion at the speed of ten (10) meters per second. Maximum distance of a Shunpo is 10 meters, though one can always lower the range. Once a Shunpo is started, unless subjutsu are known to alter direction, the user is destined to end where they aimed the speed burst at. Can be used once per thread, plus once more each time it is retrained. Finally, one cannot attack while performing Shunpo.
Description: Shunpo, a Taijutsu master's response to the Body Flicker Technique, relies solely on the user's ability to harness their inner ki and gain enough stamina to withstand the sudden strain imposed on one's legs. However, once properly trained, the Taijutsu Type will find their legs moving at speeds unknown to common man, to the point most would make the foolish mistake of assuming one is using Shunshin. However, unlike that chakra inspired run, Shunpo is pure stamina and movement skill, allowing for tighter, quicker, and more reactionary movements essential for someone that relies on movement. Although Shunpo itself moves in a single line, its many variations is what makes it so lethal. However, while a high-speed movement, if used in broad daylight, one will still be somewhat visible and as such, easier to be defended against. In order to achieve maximum effect, the user must to combine it with a distraction.

[Hotaru]

Hotaru looked down on her students, watching diligently from the top of her ebony tower for their next moves. The ash had settled, covering the entire field with blanket that onlookers could easily mistaken for snow. Madoka appeared to be standing in the same spot as she was before Hotaru had lost track of her. As for Sasori, he had switched places with the target log she had stood on earlier. Suddenly, the two dashed forward towards the tower, but neither acted once they got close.

"Giving up already!?"

The taunted, Peering over the edge of her obelisk to get a better look at her students. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted something black moving through the white field and she focused in for a better look. Hopping through the ash towards a nearby tree, a small bird was making its way diligently across the field. It appeared to have a clear destination in mind and didn't seem to be searching for food. Once it reached the tree, the bird hopped up the branches to a new perch.

Strange. Why didn't it just fly?

Raising an eyebrow, she looked back at her students and smirked. Was someone trying to trick her? The sudden appearance of a bird amidst her storm seemed a bit out of place, and the fact that it didn't just fly to it's destination raised even more questions. With Madoka and Sasori on the approach, she wanted to make sure everybody was who they appeared to be so she wasnt caught off guard later. Hotaru reached into her item pouch and removed two shuriken, each wrapped in an exploding note.

With both of her students close to her new obstacle, she threw the shuriken down at them, one aimed at the center of each of their foreheads. She would detonate the paper bombs as soon as the projectiles hit something, be it ninja, earth, or some sort of shield. Hopefully the damage from the explosions would be enough to dispel any illusions constructed during her earlier diversion. If she was unable to dispel any tricks, she would at least get to see how her students reacted to the fairly standard shinobi tactic of attaching exploding notes to projectiles.

Madoka - Though you are able to henge into a bird, you wont be able to fly in that form. Transforming into the shape doesnt give you the properties of what you change into. For example, if you transform into a fish, you wont be able to breathe underwater and transforming into a rock wont give you the defense of stone. Still, combining it with henge is a classic trick which can be effective in combat. The execution was a bit off, is all.

She watched her red-haired sensei upon her pillar of hardened lava. Her clone was a split image of herself, there was no doubt, but it seemed as if Hotaru was slowly catching onto her plans. As Hotaru would reach into her pouch to retrieve what seemed to be a pair of shurikens, Madoka would also retrieve two of her Kunai. They sat protruding from the gaps of her thin fingers, and she leaned forward slightly, readying herself. As Hotaru would throw the bladed stars from her hands, Madoka would follow half a second after. Her first Kunai would hit against the closest Shuriken, the forces in their throws would cancel out one another and deflect away from Hotaru's targets. Gravity would do the rest. Her second Kunai would barely touch the surface of the last Shuriken but would be just enough to change the direction of the rotating star and cause it to spiral into a visible root of another tree. At the same time, Madoka would create another combination of hand seals. Madoka's clone, upon seeing the oncoming Shuriken, would simply jump away. In addition, Madoka's early intervention of the spinning stars would mean the explosion would only cause debris from the blasted earth to graze the clone's skin. Focusing Chakra into its feet, it would begin to scale up the side of the pillar in a circular fashion whilst forming hand seals. Just as it would reach the top, it would leap and jerk itself to face Hotaru. Like before, ithe clone would bring its hand upon its lip and exhale a consistent stream of flames heading straight for Hotaru, exploding on contact. She had hoped that her team would have been a bit more capable of thinking out of the box, but they hadn't performed too horribly. Despite their mistakes, she had noted the seeds of what could turn into talent. Taking a few steps backwards, she allowed Madoka's fireball to pass harmlessly as it ascended.

"All right. This exercise is over!"

She shouted from atop her tower. Jumping from the obsidian pillar, she fell back to the ground and landed in front of Madoka's clone and Sasori.

"And you can come out from that tree, Madoka."

Not only had she known where the genin was before she even found her way into the tree, the projectiles launched from behind the veil of leaves gave her position away to anyone paying any attention.

"Well. You didn't exactly pass, But i suppose you arnt completely worthless. Keep training until we meet again. Depending on the circumstances, it could be another exercise or an actual mission. I expect you to be better than you were today. I may even show up when you least expect it to test your progress."

She eyed her team apprehensively, wondering if she would take her advice seriously.

"Well. I guess that's it. Dismissed."

And with that, Hotaru walked off to meet with the Mizukage to determine his plans for assigning her a team to watch over.

Her clone was dispelled into flames and she stood over it's place. She leaned against her weaponry as she listened to Hotaru, Madoka's head looking down at the ground beneath har feet. "Well. You didn't exactly pass, But i suppose you arnt completely worthless. Keep training until we meet again. Depending on the circumstances, it could be another exercise or an actual mission. I expect you to be better than you were today. I may even show up when you least expect it to test your progress." She nodded, turning her gaze to Hotaru's face. She just wished that she could have done more to at least try and impress her Sensei. But nevertheless, she wanted to improve, she wanted to show Hotaru that she could do more than what she had done today. Her spirits lifted somewhat, and she held herself up on her staff with a bit more confidence. "Well. I guess that's it. Dismissed." Madoka would watch as Hotaru walked away. Something compelled the girl to suddenly speak out, though it wasn't the loudest, it would be just enough for both her teammate and her Sensei to hear. "I-i'll get improve! You'll see!"

As her Sensei finally disappeared from her view, she would give a long and frustrated sigh. Making her way to retrieve the sheath of her staff, she turned to face Akuma and bowed politely, mumbling a goodbye against her rumbling stomach. At least now she had a reason to drown her frustrations with some delicious ramen.
