Chuunin Exams – Rules

• This Chuunin Exam will be a complete free for all; in other words, it’s every ninja for his or herself. Those found helping and\or assisting enemy shinobi in any shape or form will be immediately disqualified, and barred from participating in the following Chuunin Exams for three consecutive years.
  
  
• Each player will start out with exactly two hundred dog tags. The goal is simple: engage enemy shinobi and take theirs by any means necessary. Players make search their area for “hidden” dog tags, though the chances of finding them will be slim (The chance of finding an addition stash of dog tags is 15%; after doing a “search” post, inform me [the proctor] and I will do a random number generator to decide whether or not your post was successful or not). Each player has a total of five searches before they exhaust their ability to gain more dog tags this way.
  
  
• The designated battlefield is separated into four quadrants, each of which the shinobi may choose of starting in. However, one quadrant will randomly become “off limits” after an unspecified set of time, and any ninja caught remaining inside the forbidden areas will be disqualified from the tournament. You will be notified if your quadrant has become out of bounds, and quickly shuttled to the next area.
  
  Each quadrant is a massive 200 x 200 meter forest area, all of which are crawling with video recorders and microphones. It goes without saying that participants can move from quadrant to quadrant of their own accord at any time, as there is nothing truly separating them.
  
  
• This is a fatality-possible tournament. As such, all fights should be entered in with the presumption that your enemy fully intends on killing you. Of course, proctors will be standing at the ready to interfere when and if they can. However, accidents do happen, and participants must be ready to lay down their lives for this if they truly wish to succeed. The tournament will continue until there is one clear victor over the rest.

Rave sighed and looked at the water around the soles of his thick boots. The wooded area had seemed to experience an overflow from the water system it had running through it. The river didn't sound too far away so he took the opportunity to jump up into the trees so as not to alert others with the sound of wet footsteps.

He reached back and grabbed 4 arrows from his quiver, 1 pressure burst, 1 napalm, 1 light and 1 normal, while sliding his bow down his arm then continuing across the sturdy branches the thick canopy above him aiding in his hidden tactics as he stealthily searched along both the trees and flooded ground in search of extra dog tags. His own tags were safely secured silently and out of sight inside of his cloak.

Akuharu entered the quadrant with a mild look of awe, actively impressed by the dense forest overgrowth spanning a distance the congestion of tree's made it difficult to detail. Beneath his own feet the ground was quite dry, but flush with inch-high grass, and if he listened carefully, he could just barely make out the sounds of water flowing freely near the center of the woods. He wondered how far the fields extended, though he already knew it would take him some time to travel from one end to the other, and he stretched lazily before leaping up, into the tree's, and out of sight.

He climbed a copse of thicker broken branches, slowly, moving between rows of overlapping leaf with his eyes darting back and forth throughout the green, taking note of the unusual scarcity of wildlife. Where small nests should have been hollowed into the bases of tree's, there were bits of equipment, microphones, cameras... The sanctity of what should have been a haven within the natural world had been upset by the introduction of machines and Akuharu shook his head with disappointment, scouting out a circular fifty meter area of wilderness, his senses keen. Barely the sound of a broken twig could be heard as he moved, his feet too fast to disturb the serenity of the woods.

After he was certain no one else was around, he crouched atop a high oak 'platform', gathering dry leaves from the younger growth nearby, and placing them atop a sliver of shaved bark. A piece of simple cloth string pulled from his cloak near where his dog tags remained secured and wrapped about his fingers for tension would move back and forth swiftly over a thin branch end placed in the center of the pile, and before long, he created a tiny spark. The dry leaf lit near instantly after, settling into the bark beneath, now a torch allowing a column of smoke to drift up and break the line of tree's. It was a beacon, and a calling. A declaration of position and of intent. Let's not take longer than we need to.

He left it near the topmost extensions of the same tree as he descended in complete silence to the thicker sections of its trunk; soon the entire thing would catch the heat and ignite beside it, the smoke from which would be obvious to even the most unobservant of Shinobi. Akuharu made a simple set of seals, and in a gray puff that mixed with the natural exhaust of the flames, 10 Akuharu's moved out in every direction, heading to the outer reaches of the previously scouted 50 meter perimeter, hiding in the verdant brush, observing all.

The Kirigakure Shinobi himself stepped quietly from branch to branch, navigating through foliage that would keep him hidden as he roamed for his eventual target, and any additional dog tags he might snag. The way things were now, his opponent would most definitely see him before he saw them.

Rave quickly caught the scent of the smoke in the air and quietly moved up to the canopy seeing a trail of smoke raising into the air. The smoke could mean many things such as another battle having started or signal calling out to those around the area. He looked down watching the water and saw ripples lapping in the direction of the smoke.

He moved quickly along the trees keeping sure to stay silent and out of sight as the water moved under his feet. Judging from the spreading water whatever path the river would've normally taken must be completely blocked up, but it could aid him later on. Though moving on closer to the smoke he would be sure to stay 15 meters back from the edge of the spreading liquid while also listening closely for the cling of metal signalling a set of tags in the water.

Near the farthest edges of the perimeter, two clones moved through the thick forest top, coming to rest on the edge of a thick branch as they surveyed the surrounding area. One would slide down the trunk of an overgrown tree, landing without sound on the soft grass below, the other mirroring his movements above. Akuharu sat closer to the center of his scouted out domain, patiently meditating, eyes closed, awaiting any nuance in the awkward lull that might signal an enemy's approach as some of the clones to his rear sat, still searching for the elusive dog tags. The singular clone, breaking free of the interwoven flora, would scan the ground for footprints, before giving off the affectation of being startled, its eyes coming upon a slowly widening area of wet ground where the far of river began to spread and cover the land. 15 meters away, it would spy, finally, a movement through the greenery up above, as thickets and brambles and the darkly colored stems of large flat leaves were expertly moved to the side; no doubt the passage of another.

The clone would silently ascend back into the cover of the forest, following in the wake of the unnaturally wavering growth, trying to gain sight of the intruder. Though unable to see the person clearly, it was able to simply follow the path where footsteps had split a stray flowering of twigs, as the other clones homed in on this nearby scout's position.

Over the path of the woods, the clones could still see the smoke rising from the small fire, which had come to envelop the bush and burst sporadically into larger flame. The intruder was followed, silently, as a few meters before its roaming another bunshin would leap briefly into view. It looked in the strangers direction, attempting to catch his eye, before disappearing again within the forest. But would he be seen? Would he be followed, blissfully unaware that he himself was being tailed...goaded...into the proper position to end their little game? The clone that remained in the uppermost line of tree's would hide if the intruder passed, making sure its presence was not known until the perfect moment.

Rave silently sighed as a tick of annoyance flicked through his mind, no one was here and he couldn't find any extra tags. He was starting to think of heading into a separate quadrant when a figure came into view and their eyes locked briefly before the figure headed off. Rave quickly came to a stop his hearing catching the faint sound as the figure ran off.

The rules had been laid out before hand and that alone had made Rave cautious of someone not attacking him. He dropped notched his pressure burst arrow before quickly turning and firing in the direction that was directly behind him. Using clones were a simple distraction method and even if the arrow didn't hit anything he would confirm his back was safe. he arrow would detonate with a pressurized blast of water that would deal enough force damage to at least knock a normal person into the water below.

As the clone noticed the man he followed would stop, drop, and right a complicated looking arrow, it would duck behind the thick trunk of a tree, the others nearby converging on its general position. A blast would be heard going off a split-second later, but as his opponent had not aimed, merely turned and fired to his rear, the arrow would make a deft and watery impact on the side of the tree, a few short meters in front of where the clone was hiding. The bunshin that had never veered down below and had instead remained in the tree-line, waiting for the enemy to pass, would take the opportunity of his foes turned form to cross the man's path, albeit, he would most likely not be seen as the man's back was turned. He would however be heard, rustling the tree's as he moved before disappearing again into the surrounding green, the entire act taking but a fraction of a second. It would be long enough to grab the man's attention, and perhaps convince him that he was surrounded by enemies, but it mattered little. The trap had been set, and the clone would make its way noisily towards the true Akuharu, easily heard above the silence of the forest.

Akuharu would begin closing in on the young man's position, clones directing him in his travel. The sound of the arrow detonating however had not been hard to pinpoint, and the distance between the two combatants would be cut down swiftly, from nearly 50 full meters, to twenty, as he neared the edges of the perimeter he'd established, hidden by the tree's.

Soon.

The remainder of his clones followed suit. They would be ready for combat to begin when they arrived.

Rave heard the woosh of air behind him signaling someones pressence though a person wasnt the exact term to use. Rave knew that if someone had been able to get behind him in this competition they would've knocked him out or done more to take him out and his tags, he was being distracted by clones. He bolted away from the sound quickly making his way to the river''s blocked drain at the forest's edge and the stand's tall stone wall.

He turned fast while slipping his right hand into his claws, which would aid his aim, before grabbing another pressure burst arrow from his quiver and placing his back to the wall blending into the shadows of the trees waiting and scouting the area.[/blockquote]

His paranoid opponent seemed to have noticed the fleeting clone, and bolted towards the far away wall, back in the direction he'd originally come. As he was being closely followed, the path he took would be no mystery to Akuharu, who followed close behind, following the sounds of his enemy's passage. In the man's mad dash to escape, he'd seemed to abandon stealth completely, and as a contingency of five clones monitored the area around Akuharu to ensure that his opponent was not affecting some ruse, the other five, Akuharu in tow, would trail the running shinobi, whose Sunagakure headband was just barely visible in the deep shadow of the nearby tree's. Akuharu's eyes looked at the forest floor below, smirking. The ground seemed covered in a thin rise of water, and spying a blocked drain nearby, he was careful to keep in mind that this too could be its own trap. Users of suiton and raiton often kept sources such as this nearby to enhance their techniques, and though unusual for those of the Hidden Sand to possess such abilities, it was not so impossible as to factor out of his equations.

The true Akuharu descended a tree near the great wall diving their quadrant from other areas of the competition, careful to hug the end that would place him out of site of the one he followed. The young man seemed to be quite fond of archery, and Akuharu made a mental note that long range might not be the best way to go. Luckily, only 15 meters from where the young man thought he was hidden, eight of Akuharu's clones settled into the tree above. Two would descend, landing in plain sight of the man and standing their ground. They would both appear to withdraw Nameless from its sheathe, and pick up an easily tracked but still swift running gait across the forest floor.

Their motions were not simple; they would zig-zag as they charged, running in front and behind each other as their speed increased, not giving him a steady target for his arrows, as overhead, a canopy of interwoven foliage blocking the mid-day sun would prevent their non-present shadows from being detected. They would reach their opponent in only a few seconds, as Akuharu watched unseen from the cover of the woods, ready to strike.

As Rave watched the two people drop down he notched a normal arrow and let it fly with a deft swiftness that should pierce the body before it touched the wet ground. In the time it took for him to get another arrow the bodies would hit the ground together.

As they would rush at him he would drop his rigid archer's stance into a more fluid and bestial one. Rave would jump at the bodies tearing in a wide slashing arc with his claws to be sure he hit the bodies. Through every movement the archer's eyes were scanning and watching the area trying to find any other attackers as well.

Akuharu watched as his opponent caught sight of the two bunshin, somehow able to both notch and fire an arrow near instantaneously to fly towards the 'body' of the right-most clone. Aimed apparently to strike just below the chest, the clone was luckily just that, a simulacrum copy of the shinobi already in the process of performing handseals behind cover, and did not have the weight to fall in the same manner the skilled archer was no doubt used to. The arrow would sail just over the clones head as the two landed as one, and by the time they drew their respective blades, their foe had already retrieved another arrow for his bow.

Luckily, the completion of Akuharu's seals had come to pass in that time frame, allowing two additional clones, though composed of katon chakra, to be birthed in a shaded flat of grass-land behind him, still out of sight. Oddly, though he'd gotten another arrow, the boy did not shoot it, and instead dropped the relaxed stance of one waiting to strike from afar to adopt a more animalistic and aggressive movement. The young man would leap forward, just as the fire clones birthed of Akuharu's double-cast mastery over the element would take to the tree-line where there 'comrades' waited, three more of the insubstantial bunshin dropping in the same pattern as their predecessors and drawing their formless swords. A swift claw slashing through the center of the first two clones would result in a puff of smoke, as the three now successfully behind them ran towards the boy, [one]striking high, [one] to the middle of the archer's torso, and [one] sweeping towards his feet. One of the clones born of Katon would leap from the tree as well, its hands forming a quick pattern of seals before letting loose a thick mist that would spray from its mouth quickly towards the feral genin's eyes just as his swiping claw finished its motion, timed with the other three bunshin's strikes. There would be little he could do to dodge, preoccupied as he was, but it mattered not, for this of course, was its own deception, and he had no real need to dodge the insubstantial clones....or did he?

The remaining Katon clone watched from above, next to five of it's bunshin brothers, and Akuharu noted that the boy's leap had brought him a bit closer [8 meters] to his Kirigakure counterpart, as he prepared to strike from the shadows themselves. All in attendance were tense, awaiting the next maneuver. It seems he's proficient at not only ranged archery, but also confident in close quarters combat.

Description: As its name implies, the Mist Waltz is just that – a vicious mist expelled by the user through their mouth at high speeds, which, when in contact with any form of flame, will create a napalm like explosion, enhancing the fire and even creating disastrous fires which quickly spread and burn. The user must be careful however, as any Fuuton jutsu of equal or greater rank could easily blow back the mist and turn the effects on the user.

As the clawed swipe went through the air dispelling the two clones as he suspected his momentum would carry him in a complete spin to face behind him again. The motion would be just in time to show the bright edge of a blade coming at his face. Time seemed to freeze in the moment as his death was coming closer as his life flashed before his eyes he took int he details around him in the one instant. Along with the blade at his face two other blades had already passed through his mid-section and legs but he didn't feel anything no pain or lose of feeling.

His gaze narrowed highly annoyed at the shadowed combat as he saw another copy falling from the weaving seals. His entire maneuver had left him falling into the flooded bank with no way to counter however as he fell he would quickly notch and aim a pressure burst arrow at the copy weaving seals. His arrow would be aimed at the crotch learning from his last missed shot he then let the arrow let loose just as he felt the water on his back.

The piercing screech of the arrow would be cut off by the splash as Rave sank into the river. The momentum made him slide across the muddy bankonce he stopped and got his balance back he looked up and saw a thick red cloud hanging over the water and wondered if his arrow met his mark and the red was just blood mixed with his pressure-burst, the arrow however would create a blast of pressurized water covering a 10 meter radius area.

One of the clones born of Katon would leap from the tree as well, its hands forming a quick pattern of seals before letting loose a thick mist that would spray from its mouth quickly towards the feral genin's eyes just as his swiping claw finished its motion, timed with the other three bunshin's strikes.

Timing. So many things in the shinobi world were simply a matter of timing; it could either be on your side or against you, and Akuharu had learned this lesson all too well. It seemed his opponent was also ready to learn the same, as he'd made a major miscalculation. By being able to see the bunshin's blades enter and exit his body without pause, the boy's entire body [Enkou Shinka S Rank = 50 meter spread] would thus be caught in the mist the katon clone had simultaneously expelled; as the mist would ignite when it came into contact with any source of flame, the katon clones own body, falling right behind it as it was birthed, would explode in its own wake, the detonation spawning at what was essentially point blank range in a napalm-like expansion of fire.

But Akuharu would not sit idle as this happened. Or at least, the remaining Katon clone would not, nor would it's Bunshin brothers.

As the explosion would knock the boy forward [having gone off behind you] his body would not be falling into the river, and would instead be sprawled across the very ground he'd recently crossed to make contact with the clones. As he would land, the last Katon Clone, with the other Bunshin in tow, would have already descended from the line of tree's, it's fingers weaving seals as it moved, coming to the last seals and holding it, coming to stand above the boy's fallen body just as it would hit the ground, smaller fires still burning him after the blast.

If the boy would attempt to move at all, the Clone would release the technique it had prepared, killing him, as the insubstantial Bunshin's now also crowded the Sand Ninja's body. This was not for nothing of course, as their presence would conceal the eventual and swift approach of the true Akuharu, if the boy would give him some reason to come out from hiding, and destroy the young man completely. He would allow him only a few seconds to decide his fate, the stoic and prepared clone ready to unleash hell¹, or ready for the boy to surrender the dog tags on his person. No words would be spoken.

The boy was observant enough. He should know what Akuharu required.
