The Man Who Knew Everything.

The building stands alone; a 75 meter x 75 meter complex of new construction, lit by the pastel hue of a setting sun, and it is this hospital that you have been sent to. Your medical examination will begin today, yet coming to this seemingly desolate location is all but inspiring. An open ended square of smaller compounds sits before the taller main building, but its two massive doors are locked with heavy chain, and there is not only a lack of sound from the building itself, but from the entire area surrounding it. All the lights which would normally indicate activity are dull and grayed out; there are no screaming children or serious-faced ANBU guards moseying along the slowly darkening streets or patient old men waiting to die. There is nothing. A lull of living sounds. An absence.

Why would you be sent here? What could you possibly have to learn from this bizarre architecture of shadows and empty glass windows etched into monumental towers so far from your home? That is of course, for you to find out. You have been given little information that would help you.

You are to meet with a Dr. Nara, on floor 9 of the 15 floor hospital, but unless you break down the doors, or find some other way up, your event may be over before it has truly begin.

Of course, it is always prudent to consider that some things are locked for a reason.

Just a little uneasy of what this day meant for him, especially after receiving the ambiguous note detailing the location and time of his scheduled exam, Rael consumed a light snack and packed another before setting out from his temporary living quarters, making sure to double-check that he brought the necessary tools (pen, pencil, eraser) in case they were not provided. There was no guarantee his upcoming test would even include a written component, but it never hurt to be prepared just in case. As a last minute thought, he also deemed it necessary to include his carry-on satchel, fully loaded in case he needed anything on the way there. Should the ones in charge forbid the examinees from bringing the aforementioned equipment, he could always leave it outside the premises, or hand it over to someone in charge until the test was done.

Still, Water 7 seems a rather strange place to be holding an exam.

And indeed it was. Rael figured the test would be held at least somewhere in Kirigakure, considering how only people that were Genin and up could participate. The naval town was not under the Mizukage's jurisdiction, but instead governed by the Water Daimyō, despite however much the general masses seemed to believe their town was perfectly neutral. In any case, it took him roughly an hour to arrive by foot, the extra time spent first asking for directions to the hospital (being his first time here), then getting to know several of the town's 'hotspots' before heading on over to the correct location. He had wanted to ask if any of them knew about others participating in the event. but eventually dropped the idea since, being civilians, it was unlikely they knew anything about it either.

Although, that being said, maybe I should have.

The reason for this sudden questioning of his previous idea was the fact that, simply put, it was completely dead here. Rael knew he was somewhat early, scheduling everything so that he arrived here with nearly half an hour to spare. However, there was neither hide nor hair of another living soul elsewhere in close vicinity. Could he perhaps have gotten the place wrong? It seemed impossible, the Genin checking with two different individuals, both giving him the same instructions on correct routes to take, according to their respective locations. Unfortunately, the heavily-secured front doors suggested otherwise; it seemed a bit more extreme than a regular classroom door that was locked before students were finally allowed in. What strategies could he come up with, or clever maneuvers to get in via other means, with 'Dr. Nara' supposedly waiting all the way up on the 9th floor? He walked straight up to the front doors, rapping thrice on them before calling out.

"Hello? Dr. Nara, are you here?"

Sometimes the simplest solution was also the most practical.

Knock, knock.

There is no answer, save the hollow ringing sound of your own hand slapping against the locked doors of the hospital. The noise echoes out eerily; this place seems abandoned and no doubt your confusion can only grow as above you, some split second instinct suggests that you should move! Now.

A window shatters, approximately four floors up, easily over 30 meters from where you currently stand, and a bit of broken glass and blood greet the hard concrete exterior of the massive hospital but offer no evidence as to their cause.

Hn, how strange.

Apparently, no one was home after all. The medic-in-training was unsure whether to feel disappointed or annoyed at this sudden letdown. Failing the exam he could understand; he would be disappointed of course, but that only meant he needed to expand on his textbook knowledge or accumulate more firsthand experience. However, not even getting a chance to take a crack at the test was just humiliating, almost insulting really. He would be exchanging some words with the higher ups back home, count on it.

Unfortunately, Rael was not blessed with the gift of precognition, so he had no way of knowing the window high above was about to shatter until it actually transpired. However, he was not a shinobi for nothing, and had more than ample time to throw his body towards the right, avoiding the falling glass as he rolled several feet away. Twisting his body up into a low crouch, the Genin shot a quick glance towards the broken pile, then up towards where it had fallen from.

Making his way over to the glass pieces, careful to avoid stepping on any that might pierce through the soles of his sandals. Picking out the smallest piece that was smudged with red, he carefully examined the glass, taking heed not to get any of the liquid on himself, then slipped it into his side pocket in case it was needed later. For now though, he had a situation to scope out. Fishing his often neglected ninja headband out from his weapon satchel, he ran over to the hospital wall and immediately began ascending along its side at a brisk pace, though doing everything in his power to keep his footsteps as silent as possible.

Stopping as he stood sideways right next to the empty space where the window once was, Rael carefully moved the Kiri hitai-ate into a proper angle, where it would not be easily visible to anyone that might be inside the room. From here, he tried to catch a glimpse in the steel plate's reflection as to just what was going on in there.

"Fucking hell!" You don't need your pseudo mirror to hear the shouting from within the room. The reflection shows a young woman, kneeling on the floor, and another body laying at her knees, but nothing much else can be gained from the blurry metal.
"I can't do this on my own!" She cries, and a piece of what may have been medical equipment flies out the window past you, perhaps a clue as to what initially broke the glass.
You can hear her heavy breathing, an attempt to calm herself, perhaps. Then, in your headband, the unmistakable glimmer of chakra surrounds the woman's hands.

She's pressing her hands to the body beside her, performing a healing, maybe? Something isn't right here, that much is obvious. The locked door, the lack of people, the distress in this woman's voice and face. Not your standard medical examination.

+ There's nobody else to be seen. Whether this woman is dangerous or not, she appears to be a medic.

+ Attempt to gather more information, inform her of your presence, perhaps find another way inside the building. The choice is yours!

Narrowly avoiding the paperweight that went sailing past his head, almost colliding with the appendage holding his pseudo-mirror, Rael retracted his headband and considered his options. The poor reflection seen in his headband prevented him from pinpointing exactly which medical ninjutsu the woman had been trying to perform, but whatever it was, she wasn't having much success with it. He could worry about the extenuating circumstances surrounding this operation in just a bit. For now, he needed to make himself useful.

Retreating halfway back down the side of the building, the young Genin pivoted and began running back up, but this time, making sure to emphasize each of his footsteps as they connected with the wall, deliberately letting the woman on the 9th floor know he was coming. Providing she was indeed in the middle of an operation, the last thing she needed was someone startling her in the midst of a complicated procedure (if he had just called out earlier or automatically jumped into the room), and possibly harming the 'patient'.

Making his way back up to the room earlier, Rael poked his head over the windows still, taking in the scene once more before speaking aloud.

"Dr. Nara?"

She looks up at your voice, and your face at the window. She seems to have calmed down, her rage giving way to resignation and despair.
"If you can still call me a doctor, then yes." The woman says in a bleak monotone. There's a sudden realisation in her eyes, and her expression brightens, just barely.
"You're here for the exam, aren't you?! Quick, get in here!" She's still knelt by the woman on the floor, who seems to be unconcious.

From your view now, you can see the rest of the room, and another three people laying on the floor.
"There was a breakout. It was just an experiment, but... Everyone evacuated. Except, these guys. And me." She explains in a breaking voice, her hands still blazing with chakra as she presses down on her patient's chest.

"I'm sorry, but there's no time for formalities. Assess those three, i need to know exactly what i need to do to keep them alive. You can handle that, right?"

+ The four people seem to be in a serious condition. Dr Nara is handling one, but doesn't have time to diagnose each patient, not if she wants to keep them all alive.

+ Decide how to approach the patients. An examination; their body temperatures, any obvious wounds or outward signs of illness, all can be uncovered.

+ Depending on how thorough your examinations are, you'll learn more about each body's status, and Dr Nara will be able to heal them quicker.

Rael's eyes narrowed surreptitiously, but he refrained from voicing his private suspicions before nodding once and pulling himself over the ledge, into the room. He would wait until later before finding out why Dr. Nara seemed unaffected by this supposed 'breakout' or is she?. Furthermore, if it was indeed contagious, wasn't he exposed to similar risk? Temporarily putting concern for his own well-being on hold, he hurried over to the three bodies, first getting a visual assessment of their conditions before doing anything else.

"How long ago was the breakout," he demanded, kneeling next to the closest one. None of them seemed to be in danger of bleeding out at least, otherwise the vital fluids would have stained their clothing. Blunt trauma of any sort could not be immediately ruled out, but at least none of them had their head caved in; that would have been a tad difficult to fix.

Gently placing his hands on the patient's solar plexus, he began running a full scan of the individual's internal system, searching for clues that might relay what was afflicting them. Since all three supposedly fell to the same outbreak, discovering how to treat one of them would bring him that much closer to uncovering what was wrong with the remaining two.
