The young male had passed by the shinobi guards of the sand village, making his way into the fields of golden grains that was that of the land of wind. As he had continued to walk, he had stopped for a bit to look back at the village. He had a few thoughts run through his head, though he wouldn't allow his expression to showcase what he was thinking at the time. He then proceeded to continue his advancement; walking side by side with the young male, harsh heat the sun had blazed upon the desert was fierce.

Though, they young male was used to it, he didn't know if his little companion was, since he didn't know how many times he was out here. Though, in the village hidden in the sand's survival program in the academy, the students had to have a survival test in the desert. Surely he had passed that, or he wouldn't be there walking side by side with him today. He looked over at the younger boy to see how he was doing, making sure that it wasn't too much for him if, and if it was, he might have to also give him the robes as well to protect himself from the heat.

("So, how are you holding up, Ikki-kun? Is it too much for you?")

He was quite curious indeed, didn't want the boy dying on him, since they still had some ways to go until they would reach the sighting of the monster who lurked through the sands. Some say that it is a giant sandworm, while others say that it is a giant scorpion. Whatever it was, they would surely find it, and see what it truly was. But, they wouldn't do a good job if they boy was lagging behind, possibly making the situation more dangerous than it already would be if they found the monster was indeed a giant monster and difficult to deal with.

He had really only thought of the boy’s protection, his moral code would leave him crushed if something would have happened to the boy on their outing.

Through the Gates they went. Ikki was always so amazed whenever he passed through the Sunagakure gates. Always so massive, being protected by hundreds of ninja that stalked along the high parapets everyday. Ikki wished he would be strong enough to protect the Sand from its enemies. As a ninja of Suna it was his duty to do so.

Ikki stopped for a moment just outside the Gates to look back, just in case he would never be back. The boy always did this whenever he left the city. The Sand Village looked massive from the outside, he was surprised that the leaders of the Village could keep it a secret from the outside world. But Ikki assumed the desert di most of the protecting by itself.

The young pugilist turned back around and caught up with Rekka. As they moved across the desert Ikki took in his surroundings. There wasn't much to be seen. The Sand village was pretty much the only thing around for miles and miles. The boy looked down and the golden brown Sands, at his footsteps that were tracking a path across the desert. He hoped they would be able to find their way back, but he was sure with both of their combined knowledge of the desert, they had nothing to worry about.

Ikki looked up at Rekka, who was looking down at him. "So, how are you holding up, Ikki-kun? Is it too much for you?"

Ikki shook his head. "Nope, I'm doing fine Rekka-san. It's hot but the turban you gave me really helped me out, thanks for that. So what's your specialty in Ninjutsu? Also, do you know what this monster looks like?"

Ikki was curious indeed, he wanted to learn more both as a way to become friendlier with his new friend and to start to think strategy for when they faced this monster. The young pugilist scanned the area in front of them for any sign of a break in the landscape. They were moving quickly across the sand in a northward direction, but there was nothing but sand for miles.

Much to the delight of the young jounin, the young boy had replied with an insurance that he was doing okay, and that the heat of the desert wasn't too much for him, and he would be able to perform at a level of top quality. As they would continue to advance through the desert, and the young boy had asked him what type of Ninjutus he had specialized in, it was kind of tricky for him to answer. It was hard to say what kind of style he had used, due to using Ninjutsu to activate his Kekkei Genkai's ability, and then use of his Kekkei Genkai through the usage of Taijutsu. One could say that he does a mixture of Ninjutsu and Taijutsu, and that he would specialize in them both.

("Ah, well..my Kekkei Genkai allows me to perform Ninjutsu and Taijutsu simultaneously. Creating a new style, that is known as Nintaijutsu, using Taijutsu through molding chakra. So, I specialize in that, Nintaijutsu. What's my Kekkei Genkai? Well, you'll see that first hand. But, what about yourself? Any specific styles you specialize in, Ikki-kun?")

As they had went on through the desert, time had seemed to past quickly, the once bright and sunny day had slowly began to turn dark, and the heat slowly cooled down. They would eventually come across a giant whole that was in the ground, appearing as if something had carried this burial, something with large claws. One could see that there were giant slashed shaped marks around the edges of the burial. As the jounin had stood on the outskirts, looking into the hole, he could see that there were a bunch of bones down below mixed in with the sand. And his first thoughts were that they were close by where the monster was, or that they would see it very soon.

Though, he kept his composure and stayed calm, making his way around the edge of the burial site, he had wondered what kind of creature it was exactly, and he didn't know, that's why he had ignored the young boy question about the monster in the first place. He didn't want to bring fear to the boy and make him jumpy. What kind of animals were out in the desert anyway; lizards, scorpions, vultures, etc. Though, he had then remembered a story he had used to hear as a kid, a story about the red scorpion of the desert, a story that isn't probably told to the new generation of kids.

There was a shinobi of legend who had went out into the desert to live on his own, and build puppets, for he was a puppeteer, though, he had preferred to use humans, instead of making them out of wood. He had wondered how true that story was. He had looked up over the burial sight at the boy, thinking that he should be honest about not knowing exactly what it was.

("Ikki-kun, I'm not sure what the monster is. But, I do know that we-----")

The voice of the young male was cut short, before he had known it, two large jagged red blades had emerged from the sand, and quickly ensnared the jounin, dragging him underground and throughout the sand. The ground began quickly, and the winds of the desert had rose, picking up the sand and causing a small sandstorm. The jounin had been taken away from the young boy, left him alone with no knowledge about what was going on, leaving him trapped within a sandstorm.

As Ikki asked Rekka what type of ninjutsu he used, the man beside him went into deep thought for a moment before answering. The young pugilist had no idea what strange and fantastic techniques Rekka could possess. There were a lot of ninja in the world and Ikki probably hadn't even scratched the surface of what someone could become.

The man finally answered and Ikki was amazed. "Ah, well..my Kekkei Genkai allows me to perform Ninjutsu and Taijutsu simultaneously. Creating a new style, that is known as Nintaijutsu, using Taijutsu through molding chakra. So, I specialize in that, Nintaijutsu. What's my Kekkei Genkai? Well, you'll see that first hand. But, what about yourself? Any specific styles you specialize in, Ikki-kun?"

Ikki thought to himself. Kekkei Genkai? He was pretty sure that meant it was a type of power a ninja was born with rather than learning over the course of life. The young pugilist was impressed, he racked his brain for anyone else that he knew who had a power like Rekka's. He thought back to academy when he knew someone with a special technique that had to do with the eyes, but he couldn't remember exactly what it was. Maybe Rekka had the same power.

Needless to say Ikki couldn't wait to find out. The boy answered his Jounin friend back quickly. "I'm more of a Taijutsu user myself. I've always been better using my hands to fight than anything else. Getting up close and personal has always suited me. But I am also great a learning Wind ninjutsu. So that's something."

But just as Ikki had finished speaking, they arrived. The young pugilist wasn't sure exactly where they had arrived to, but it was somewhere because Rekka stopped to examine the area. When Ikki was close enough he finally realized what Rekka had seen. A giant hole in the ground.

Ikki followed Rekka up to the lip of the hole. He craned his neck and looked down. Bones. The young boy was sure he saw bones down at the bottom mixed in with the soft sand. Ikki wasn't sure if they were human or animal, but something had absolutely died down there. Rekka hadn't answered Ikki about what the monster might look like, but even so the hairs on the back of the boy's neck stood on their ends.

Ikki raised his eyes to scan the area. He thought about some of the stories the children told at the orphanage where he was raised. Tales of strange happenings out in the desert, tales of giant creatures who preyed on travelers, tales of ninja gone insane and kidnapping people of the roads. All of these things crept up in Ikki's mind. But just as they did, the young pugilist fought them off. He tried to push them back down into his memory and away from his thoughts.

Ikki needed to be on his toes. "Ikki-kun, I'm not sure what the monster is. But, I do know that we---"

Rekka started to speak but was cut off when the very earth around them seemed to explode. Two jagged red blades emerged from the Sand beneath Rekka and started to drag him down into the Sand. Ikki's hand shot out to grab a hold of the Jounin, but he was too late. The man was buried somewhere underneath his feet. Not a moment after Rekka was pulled away from him, Ikki noticed the winds started to pick up.

Seconds later, Ikki was in a full blown sandstorm. He pulled the turban off his head and unraveled it, wrapping back up around his face to keep the sand away. Ikki took a fighting stance and put up his hands up into the air. His fists were loose and ready to curl tight if anything appeared before him.

Ikki's mind worked quickly. Rekka was gone and he had no idea where he was. The boy would never turn and run without trying to rescue his fellow Sand ninja. But he needed to see the enemy so he could mount an attack. He ran through his list of Wind jutsu, nothing would help him here. He could try to manipulate the winds around him but the sandstorm was very strong and he didn't think he could manage that.

Still in his fighting stance, Ikki started to move around the hole in the ground slowly. His eyes darted back and forth in case anything attacked him.

The strong winds had blasted the sands into all directions with great force, enough to knock someone who didn't have a strong footing down. The sand would surely blind the young boy some as he moved around throughout the sand, moving along the large hole. The ground had continued to rumble, as if something huge was raging about beneath the ground down below, one could only wonder what might be causing it. From a distance, the young male would be able to hear the sound of explosions all around him, loud and echoing.

The sandstorm would slowly start to die down, it had become easier for the young boy to be able to see through the much gentler sandstorm currents, as the wind continued to blow and carry it. From the several explosions that the young male would have heard, he would find himself in the middle of an asymmetrical circle of people. They had appeared to be young adults, in their early twenties, men and women, sporting the hidden sand village’s shinobi wear. They wasn't armed or anything, though they stared directly at the young boy, preparing to attack him from all sides.

There was five of them in all, the boy had to face them alone. There were two on his left and right side, the one on the left been ten meters from him, and the one on the right as five meters away. The two that were in front of him were only ten meters away as well. Though, he had also one behind him, who stood upon the opposite side of the giant hole, being thirty meters away from him how the boy would fare against the five of them, was all up to him and his shinobi skills.

The ground would continue to rumble, as he slowly became louder as time would pass by. Though, he couldn't afford to worry about Rekka, it was time the young boy was to show the fruit of his training. The two people in front of him, a male and a female, had charged in directly at him, they lifted the arms that was on the outside of the pair, and the wrist had folded forward as large blade had emerged from their wrists. The blades had resembled that of a machete, though it was four feet long, but the regular with of one.

As they charged in toward him, once they would reach striking range, to would attempt an "x" like cut, with both coming from the lower sides of his to his upper shoulder, trying to cut his torso open. Though, if they attacked at the same time, the blades would clash, so the male struck first and the woman followed up right after him. The other would stand idly by as they watched the others attack, though the ones on his right and left side had prepared themselves to attack next. The boy would be in a tight spot, but it surely wasn't anything he couldn't handle if he would remain focused on his task.

Ikki shuffled slowly around the giant hole in the middle of the desert. He was without the jounin he came here with, Rekka was just pulled under ground by blades that sprouted from the ground. Ikki was in a fighting stance with his legs at shoulder width and his hands up in a general boxing arrangement. The windstorm that had kicked up and caused visibility to drop nearly to zero.

The boy stopped for a moment "REKKA! WHERE ARE YOU?! CAN YOU HEAR ME?!" The boy screamed against the wind.

Just as he finished his scream the wind seemed to die down slightly. Sand and dust were still being carried by the gusts but it had lessened now. Ikki was glad it did. He loosened the wrappings around his face to get a better view of his area. The young pugilist took a look around and still couldn't really see anything, just the hole beside him.

Suddenly the ground around him seemed to explode and figures sprouted up from the desert. These figures melted into focus and Ikki found himself surrounded by what looked like Sand Village ninja. Ikki's eyes shifted back and forth. There were two people in front of him, a man and a woman. Then there was one person on either side of his body.

Ikki turned his body fully around and made out another person across the hole. The young pugilist started to relax, but he was unsure. If these were really ninja of the Sand why didn't address him? Why didn't they say anything at all?

"Are you Suna ninja? I'm looking for my friend, he is a Jounin by the name of Rekka. Have you seen him?" Ikki asked in the general direction of the two ninja in front of him.

They didn't answer. The young pugilist raised his hands yet again. He did so because something told him he was about to be thrust into combat. He was correct. The two ninja in front of him, the man and the woman, charged. As they ran forward they flicked their wrists and from their sleeves emerged machetes about four feet long. One machete on the outside hands of the pair.

Everything around the boy seemed to fade away as his concentration focused on these two charging toward him, weapons in hand. Ikki's heart started to beat faster. A calm came over his mind as he thought quickly. Years of a tough lifestyle taught him well. He could never defeat both ninja charging toward him so he decided tow things in an instant.

One, that he needed to defeat them one by one or be overwhelmed. Two, that to prevent their attack he should interrupt it with his own. Ikki did just that.

The young pugilist shifted to his left and took off in a dead sprint toward the male attacker. The two attackers were planning on coming toward to strike Ikki in an "x" formation, but they would never get that far. Ikki reached the male attacker and performed an old boxing trick to get close enough to attack.

It was called "slipping inside," the fighter would wait until the attack was close enough to their person that the attacker could not pull it back and with a bobbing motion of the head the fighter would cause the attack to "slip" by them allowing the fighter full access to their attacker's body. Performing this technique with ease, Ikki would use his knowledge of the Tenjouken Style to put speed on his next move.

The young pugilist, with the force of Tenchuu, would strike his attacker twice. Both times in the gut. If landed, it would cause his attacker to double over in pain, effectively taking him out of the fight for a few crucial moments so Ikki could attack the female ninja.

If he was successful the young pugilist would be standing over the male Sand ninja with the female to his side. It was a precarious position but Ikki would shift his body around quickly to face her. As she turned to face him, Ikki would be forming handseals and preparing his next move.

Upon hitting the male attacker, the young boy would be able to feel that he had a hard putter body, though ultimate, he felt like he was hollow. He had ceased a tag team effort from the male and the female by charging toward them with an attack of his own. Once he would have stricken the male with a mighty blow, it would bend over as if it would have been in pain from the punch, like any normal person would be. Though, he wasn't normal and that wasn't it for him.

While the woman had stopped on her own, she didn't have any type of expression upon on her face, really appearing to be dead. She would use her outside blade as an attempt to severe the boy's head from his neck, slashing at him with a decent pace, the speed of her strike made it avoidable, though enough to still strike the neck. The he had punched noticed the seals he had been performing, and while being already bent over, he would charge into the boy. He didn't carry a lot of power behind it, moving from a stationary position, if it would move the boy at all depended on his own physical prowess.

The woman attacker was two meters away from him, while the male was within a one meter range of the boy. The two that was originally upon the sides of the boy had begun to take action. They boy had leaped into the air, revealing senbon launchers upon their wrist, on the outer sides of the pairs, firing three senbon each at the right and left side of his back respectively from twenty meters away. With the senbon traveling four meters per second.

Rumbling beneath the ground could still be heard and felt by all who was upon the surface of the golden grains of sand that was beneath their feet. Though, while all of the attackers were attacking, an explosion of sand had erupted beneath the boy, the male and the woman, naturally through her attack off course, due to the sudden unbalance of terrain. A large, red shell looking object had emerged from the sand, sending the three closest together twenty feet into the air. They all had stood upon a living creature that raged about, with blow spewing from out of its mouth.

With further examination of the creature, one could tell it was a giant scorpion they had been standing on. The beast had then suddenly fell to the ground, with the young jounin emerging from its mouth, covered within blood, though didn't have any scars upon his body, besides his tattered robes. He would make his way on top of the scorpion swiftly, drawing the attention of the female attacker, who had then charged toward the jounin, with an intention of severe his head with her machete. As the blade would come at his neck, he would only smirk.

The machete's blade cracking and shattering upon impact with the males neck, then countered with an attack of his own. From the palm of his left hand, a sharp bone had emerged, cutting through his skin and flesh. He moved his palm against the bottom of the females chin, then he had extended rapidly, and in an instant, it would have impaled her head. Upon the back of her head as it pierced through, it had revealed that she had a tag on the back of her head, and with it destroyed via piercing, the woman's body had fallen limp, dropping her to the ground, then looking toward the boy, with a calm expression, though his smile was gone.

("Oi! Have you been holding up well, Ikki-kun?")

Ikki was in a bit of a pinch. The boy thought he had knocked out the male attacker for good at lest for a little while but he was wrong. The man doubled over as if he was in pain but his face did not seem to change at all. Ikki continued his handseals ad quickly as he could to try and put some room between him and his attackers with a wind attack.

As the young pugilist faced the female attacker, she charged forward and Ikki decided she mean to slice the machete across his neck. Cutting a hole in his jugular or worse severing his entire head. Ikki's handseals were in vain, he wouldn't have enough time to complete them and perform his technique before she was upon him. To make matters worse, the man to Ikki's side was halfway on his feet and mounting a charging attack into the boy's side.

The young pugilist decided to pull his last resort, it was risky move but he had to get away. The combination of the charge attack and the machete flying toward his neck would have to just be avoided completely. Ikki decided he would jump as hard as he could over the female ninja to try and get behind her for another attack.

He bent his knees and readied the jump. But just as he did the ground below him rumbled again. What now? Ikki thought to himself. As if things weren't bad enough. Ikki looked down juts for a moment and saw something he didn't believe. There was a huge shape that had just unearthed itself from the sand below them, it was a deep red color and it was moving. The entire ground shook.

Ikki waited for a single moment of stillness to unbend his knees and send himself flying into the air. From his new vantage point in the air above this shape he could make out what it was. A giant scorpion. Ikki was amazed. The boy watched a suddenly Rekka emerged from his mouth, covered in blood and tattered clothes. Ikki hoped the blood wasn't Rekka's.

The young pugilist started his descent back to the ground, taken by gravity, but was entranced by the scene in front of him. The male attacker had been thrown some feet away, as had the female. But amazingly she was able to mount an attack on Rekka who was standing on the scorpion's back. Her machete collided with his neck and Ikki was afraid that his new friend was done for. There was nothing he could do.

Then something strange happened, the machete collided with Rekka's neck and instantly broke into pieces. Then Rekka lifted his hand and from his palm emerged what looked to Ikki like a bone. He thrust it through the female's neck and chin, emerging from the other side to destroy a piece of paper on her neck. Only the destruction of this paper caused the female to go limp.

When Rekka was finished he turned to Ikki and spoke. "Oi! Have you been holding up well, Ikki-kun?"

Ikki was almost too surprised to speak. "Just barely. I have a lot of questions, like what the hell is going on... But let's finish this first!"

With the information that Ikki now possessed about the tags and what their destruction meant to their attackers he knew how to defeat them quickly. He noticed the two attackers originally to his sides were now charging forward to attack. The scorpion's appearance had stopped them for a moment, enough time for Ikki to attack.

Ikki turned his body around to the attacker charging toward him and again jumped into the air. In a moment the young pugilist would perform a backflip and with that rotational force he would lash out his left leg and bring it down onto the attacker's shoulder. Ikki would land on top of the attacker if successful. With the attacker immobilized by Ikki the boy would pull a kunai from his hip pouch and stab into the tag. Hopefully causing his attacker to go limp.

If done Ikki would quickly stand up and shift his body around to ascertain Rekka's situation and decide if the Jounin needed his help.

This technique is considerably more dangerous than the Backflip Crescent; inexperienced users are at risk for botching the landing and injuring themselves.

When he had emerged from the beast's mouth, he was surprised about the fact that the young boy was still standing tall. He had thought that horrible things had taken place when he was dragged underground, horrible things that would have led to the death of the young male. Seeing him doing well, despite the question he had asked had surely made him proud. He didn't think that Sunagakure was still producing the same type of Genin that they had use to, he would now have to hold the young boy and his skill as a shinobi in higher regard.

He could see that he had to put up with multiple opponents, still managing to defeat the outs, and do it so well in an impressive way. He was surely a shinobi that the jounin would have to keep his eyes on; he had a lot of potential within him. And, he wanted to do nothing more than help that flourish within him, possibly thinking about taking the young male beneath his wings. He watched the boy as he would continue to do battle with the male attacker who he was previous combating against, though the jounin had taken notice of the others who were nearby.

He had left the boy, to deal with the other three who were around the area. The jounin had landed near the edge of the hole, staring off at the other who was across on the other side of the whole, but he had seemed to not want to take any actions toward him. The two who had originally started on the sides of the boy would charge at the jounin from behind, they planned to ambush him while his focus had been somewhere else. When they would come close enough, they had tried to strike him with their fist, but, he would lean forward and under the fists.

He fell forward onto his hands, and then he used his legs to wrap around the arms of the attackers, holding them together. From the soles of his sandals, sharp blades would emerge from them. As he pulled them together with his legs, he used it as a way to build up kinetic energy quickly. He would them release his legs in a quick lash, directed at the necks of the attackers, severing the heads from their bodies and also cutting the tags from their necks. The jounin pushed himself up off of the ground, landing back onto his own two feet, and then looked into the direction of the one across the hole, but he had vanished.

He looked around the area, but he hadn't seen any signs of him...

Having just immobilized his chosen foe, Ikki Sanada turned around to watch Rekka. He watched the Jounin run toward the edge of the hole to peer toward the opponent on the other side. The person on the other side of the hole had almost completely left Ikki's mind, he was too busy fighting to wonder who he or she was.

The young pugilist watched as the rest of the ninja charged at Rekka from behind. Ikki raised his hands and started to run toward his friend. The man had just escaped from the belly of a giant scorpion and Ikki didn't want him to be killed now. The man surprised the Genin by leaning forward underneath their strikes and wrapping his legs around them.

Ikki saw as blades suddenly sprouted from his sandals and pierced into the necks of their opponents. The boy ran over just as the ninja fell over limp. Ikki turned to Rekka and spoke.

"What the heck just happened! Was that a scorpion? Why were these Sand Ninja attacking us?"

Ikki would wait for Rekka to answer before bending down to examine the bodies. Hoping to find some answer.

He had felt the young boy's presence near his own by the time he would have finished off the two attackers. Their bodies would have appeared to been those of puppets, all of the attackers were. But, instead of using strings, one was able to control them another way. He couldn't help but think that it was such an impressive ability, though; it could be dangerous if used against people of Sunagakure.

It was weird that he had the people dress like Suna-nin, and even had them wear handbands, it all must've meant that the bones within the giant hole were those of the shinobi someone had killed, and then enamored them within their cloths. He couldn't help but become angry over the thought that someone might've killed his friends and then tossed them aside like they were trash. This would require some more investigation, but for now, it would be best that the two got back to the village as safely as possible and report in what they had encountered. Once the young boy had reached him, he immediately asked him about what was going on; though he wasn't sure he knew how to answer his question.

But, it was probably best to tell him the truth. He turned around toward him, looking at him with a stern face, much different from the kind of expressions than he had possessed before. His eyes had sat upon the boy; it was time to get a bit serious. His once light glance he would give had become heavy, someone was killing his comrades and he didn't like it and wouldn't stand for it.

It was time to get serious; the voice that the young jounin had used was serious, though still spoke in a calm matter. It was time for them to go, before any more enemies would emerge into the scene and cause more trouble for the duo. What the jounin had seen underground was indeed terrible, but that was something he would have kept to himself. After the young genin would have examined the puppet, it would be time for them to leave.

In a burst of speed, the young male had disappeared out of sight, running at a fast pace back the village. Though, his speed was traceable by the gene, who would follow him to the village.

As Ikki examined the body at his feet Rekka answered him. The Jounin seemed in a hurry, almost worried.

Ikki looked up at his Jounin friend and saw his face. His calm demeanor was completely gone and he looked serious. As the Genin listened he connected all the dots together and cursed himself for not realizing his before. He heard heard the stories, about the Puppet Masters of Sunagakure who could turn humans into puppets.

The boy was frightened, and the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. But he resisted the urge to shiver and just raised his body to it's feet. Ikki nodded in agreement to Rekka. The Jounin was right, the boy surmised that the scorpion itself may have been under control of the Puppet Master. The scorpion would take the victims to the hole and leave their bodies for the Puppet Master would loot them.

Anyone who looted the dead bodies of Sand Ninja should pay. Ikki wanted to get back to the Village as soon as possible. Both because he was a little frightened out here and because the word should be spread to the rest of the Suna military. Ikki hoped Rekka would know what to do.

The two men made quick work of the distance between them and the Village.
