Sand Storm [training]

In a harsh wind filled with sand, a lone figure walked. He was not too noticeable, nor did he seem too important, for he was merely a genin. His destination was an empty clearing of sand and of dessert. His goal was simply to find some time alone to train. A sand storm was coming, and so for now, he wore a bright red vest along with his black short trouser and straw hat to complete the mood. His name was Natsu to those who cared, and his surname was Kage-Hebi.

It was not time to train in new techniques, not yet. It was simply time to test himself, and to see how well he could brace the dessert. All he truly needed was a sandstorm, which, he knew, would soon be here.

Suddenly, the wind picked up, the sand whirling more quickly, with more harshness. The sandstorm was here. Natsu felt it smacking against his skin, but ignored the damage. He welcomed the pain, for it showed he was still alive, still human. The fact that he could take it showed he was one with the sand. Natsu smacked his hands together in different shapes, forming hand seals.

Raigeki no Yoroi!!

was heard in Natsu's voice. Chakra formed at the bottom of his feet, and slowly coating him. Completely engulf by a light-blue chakra, Natsu hoping he could withstand the raging wind of the gust and sludge of the sand being brought by the sandstorm.

As they glow, all forms of conductors will make victim’s more susceptible to damage, and any taijutsu upon the armor will leave the user’s appendages feeling paralyzed. Ecellent when outnumbered, or simply facing an opponent that favors taijutsu.

Though he manage to withstand the rage of the wind. Natsu slowly feel an unnecessary feeling, fatigue. As his armor losing its strength, a sludge of sand knock him straight to his stomach.

Natsu laughed at himself for being taken by surprise. He was just a genin. He couldn't expect himself to be strong enough to withsatnd a sand storms. What exactly had he been doing facing a sandstorm like that so recklessly? Natsu stood up again, making more handseals.

Raigeki no Yoroi!!

another word was heard in Natsu's voice. Again chakra formed until he is completely engulf with it. Hoping this time he could defeat the harshness of the sandstorm. But still it has no use, he was blown by the brute force of the raging sand storm. Natsu spun 180 degrees left, repositioning himself feet first, landing on the ground.

Still to weak

he growled, the sand batting him to the ground. Natsu stood up, his will rejuvenating him, giving him strength. He closed his eyes, remembering what he should do to overcome the situation.

Focus, the first thing that entered his mind. Natsu remembered when he was an academy student his teacher usually tell him to focus on what he is doing. Determined, Natsu started doing forming hand seals. Again the bright blue light engulf his entire as he taunt.

Raigeki no Yoroi!!

His will and determination is now giving him strength to withstand the harshness of the raging sand storm. Pulling his guts, he manage to move forward to a safer place. With all his might he endure the brute force of the gust, though fatigue trying to stop him he is still trying to step forward. Step by step, one foot to another. Slowly but effectively he has able to escape the danger. Satisfied to what he have achieve this time, he laugh all the way to sunagakure no sato.

It took some time and effort to find a suitable spot to train in, which isn’t surprising given how other Shinobi are focused and dedicated to their work. Natsu trekked here and there, though the sand-sea and came across some ruins of a building, which looked like it hasn’t been inhabited or visited for a very long time.

Looks as good a place as any to begin.

The bright sun shone its bright light on the sand tainted, white stone with dents and crushed stone with other rock formations and the like. Tough, durable yet damaged-looking pillars rose from the ground with some smaller blocks withstood the harsh environment. Indeed, this is likely to provide a nice testing ground for his Jutsu, along with whatever surprises the desert has in store for him.

Description: A basic yet effective Raiton technique, the user focuses a bit of chakra all over their body, letting the lightning gather and then quickly exploding, effectively providing a blinding light that leaves all within the range blind. Useful for disorientation and quick get-aways.

This was another simple Jutsu that the lad found would come in very handy indeed, one that would blind foes within range and give him the upper hand. Keen to learn this technique, he decided to learn this one inside as it’s much darker and much easier to figure out if it worked or not. He relaxed his body before he formed the Rat handseal with both hands and held it, his eyes closed as he focused his chakra, calm and ready to release it when he’s ready… and not before.

He imagined the winds as the enemy Shinobi: when it was calm, it was silence but at the slightest suspicious sound and he’d unleash the Jutsu to give him the edge in the fight. Minutes rolled by as he listened patiently… silence… silence… silence… silence… noise! As fast as he could, Natsu spun to meet the source of the sound and opened his eyes wide. The room light up as if it was high noon inside as the walls went from dulled white to bright, ghost and pale. It was what he had hoped for… but now he needed to attune his body so that he can tell if someone’s coming not just by sound alone… but by the alterations in the air, the vibrations on the ground… all these factors allow a blind man to see.

Ironic really, that he blinds himself to blind all that look at him. With that funny thought in mind, he closed his eyes once more as he held his hands in the Rat handseal again. He could feel the chakra build up slowly behind his closed eyelids, neither uncomfortable, nor painful… but like a presence that he knew was there.

The boy waited. The winds were calm through both the senses of touch and sound, so he focused and patiently waited for the first suspicious movement. Seconds and minutes passed before the wind picked up again, this time he felt the slight adjustment through the walls as well as the audio aspect of the breeze. Instantly, he turned to face the source of the sound a let loose a bright flash of light that made daylight for just a brief moment.

As quickly as it flared up, it vanished instantly as the room darkened once more. A smile crept up on his face as he was visibly pleased with the result, while he decided on what he should do from here.

Now that the boy had gained some experience with the Jutsu, he decided to step out into the open, where it would be harder to determine if it worked or not. Indeed, it may well be very effective in the dark, but chances are he won’t always be around in the shadows. The breeze met with his skin, along with the sand that made futile attempts at ripping apart his skin, which prompted a smirk from his face.

Ready, he formed the Rat handseal again and waited patiently, even through the brewing storm tried to harm him. Patience was something that had been instilled in him during his early years, and it was something that will serve him immensely with this Jutsu… or rather all Jutsus. Using the brain is by far the best thing anyone can ever do in their lives. The nerves tingled slightly and grew more agonising as he waited for the right moment.

Seconds… minutes… they rolled on by at its own pace, much like the wind and sand, while Natsu stood patiently and blind for the cue to unleash his chakra and blast the are with a bright light. It wasn’t the wind or sand… but rather the sound of a loose rock as it makes contact with a larger block… which happened some five minutes later.

The very instant that Natsu heard the sound; he looked at the sound and opened his eyes. The area flashed a bright white, perhaps even brighter than indoors thanks to the billowing sand, which made the boy rub his eyes a little as he almost copped a taste of his own Jutsu from the airborne sand that altered the path of the light to reflect some back at him. Not really a mirror, but it does serve as a slight annoyance.

Well that works… gotta be wary of that loose sand though. Not the wet kind I suppose, that stuff’s way to dense to be worried about.

The straw hat kid breathed in and out as he made another attempt at the Jutsu, to be sure he knows what he needs to remember about the Lightning Flash Jutsu, before he ends up using it in the heat of a mission or battle, where one slip up is fatal… pure and simple.

Rat handseal held, he closed his eyes to gather his chakra again… this time he snapped it off immediately so that he can pull it off on the fly if necessary. The light flashed the very moment his eyes flew open and illuminated the region he looked at for just a brief moment before the light faded, definitely enough time to blind a poor sod should they look at him indeed!

With a relaxed sigh, Natsu retreated to his makeshift room, sat down cross-legged and pondered on what he should do now… if he should train the jutsu more, sleep or learn another before he turns in. Time is plentiful at the moment as he wasn’t likely to enter the recent Chuunin Exams, so he does have plenty of time to become one of the most powerful Genin around, specially come time for the Exams.

With that thought in mind, he relaxed a little, closed his eyes and pondered.
