H eat waves crept in through the open door of the post office as a young shinobi welcomed himself into the complex. Umber locks fell from his crown, falling in tufts which covered his face and neck. Thin digits pressing against his thighs from the confines of his pockets, he gave a shake of his head and looked ahead scanning the room for an employee. It was not but two yards to his front, a large counter—pure white—portraying purity and cleanliness.

Striding forth, the airontoku placed his hands flat upon the counter, eyes gazing upon the woman behind it until he achieved her attention. "May I help you?" she asked, a soft tone to her voice. "The question is, mam, may I help you?" He paused, allowing white teeth reveal his intent. "I am a shinobi of the village, I'm here to assist with your lack of employees," Kodachi mused, a delicate touch to his words. Nodding, the woman disappeared into the back room, behind a red curtain. Only moments later did she return, a stack of envelopes occupying her hands. Setting it on the desk, she pushed it towards the shinobi. "Oh wait!" she exclaimed, dipping behind the curtains once more.

When she returned, she held a mailbag, and an arm band. "You'll need these to prove you're working for us. The task is simple, deliver each envelop to the recipient before the day ends. The address can be found on each envelop, and I included a route to follow," her words connected points to comprise an explanation to the task. With a smile and a nod, Kodachi placed the mail into the bag and made his departure.

The heat on the outside was dreadful, for most. But being one of the airontoku clan, the boy was acclimated to such heats breaking not a sweat as he surged forth through the village streets. A hand slipped inside his bag, retrieving the route and bringing it before him. 'It seems my first stop is just north of here.' Reassurance more than anything, thoughts like these rarely served a purpose other than helping to remember.

Mission Information: The Great War has taken its toll on Sunagakure. Very few mailing houses remain, leaving the postal service lacking. They are requesting a few unoccupied shinobi come down to help them catch up with mail delivery. The shinobi would be required to travel Sunagakure carrying a mail satchel (must be returned) and a courier arm band (also must be returned) and deliver mail to specified citizens.

The shinobi pause, comparing the traffic of the streets to that of the roof tops. It was obvious which was more crowded, and with the speed at which he bolted through sunagakure, less traffic would be preferred. A drainage pipe running down the far side of a building appeared optimal, thick metal and firmly bolted. Approaching it from sprint, the shinobi gracefully leaped from the ground, a foot pushing off the buildings surface to put him within reach of the pipe.

Mounting the roof's edge, the shinobi stopped, taking a moment to scan the area and organize a path along the roofs. Only moments later was he gone, mid leap he shot forth like an arrow, body straight as he advanced to the next roof, landing with a roll to reduce the force of the impact. He stood and pushed on, using an adjacent tree to close the distance on the next building—this was his first destination. Pushing hard off the branches surface, he maximized his distance, landing gracefully before the door.

He knocked to aware the residents of their delivery, and left an envelope sitting on their doormat. Turning away, kodachi continued on his route, finding himself at the base of a boundless staircase, one that reached high into the sky. 'People need to rethink their living arrangements.' Despite his complaint, he began to climb, swiftly rising in altitude. When he reached the top, a large steel gate stood before him, opening upon his arrival. He walked forward, and immediately regretted doing so.

Standing breaths away from him, a snarling dog, hair shooting up from its back as it growled. It began to slowly pursue him, haunches rising and falling. Kodachi wasted no time talking, instead, he turned and bolted to the door slipping the mail into a slot. Just before the dog could reach him, he jumped, pushing off the building to vault far over the dog. After stepping just outside the gate, it shut close behind him, sealing his friend away once more.

A rhythmic padding of the shinobi's feet hitting pavement, he moved along the outskirts of the village paying close attention to the papyrus in his hands. This was the less explored part of kumo, and often more dangerous, due to it being the poorer part of the community. Not to say that rich people aren't dangerous either, but crime often arises from poverty. A human ends up in a difficult situation with little options, and some are forced to take the less pleasing.

A large apartment complex stood before Kodachi as he glanced down at the parchment, the drawing a mere fragment of the building's size. Regardless he approached the door, ringing a buzzer to the address on the envelope. "Delivery,"he mused, directing his voice into the metal slits before him. No reply. The door clicks, and swings open, allowing him to proceed within it's confines. Though he does so with caution, his judgement telling him to be aware.

The building look uncared for, mildew stains the corners of the red brick walls which have been chipped from physical damage and decay. A faded tone colors these walls, and the stench of death lingers in the air. Though its impossible to discern the source, whether it be human or animal. Climbing a flight of stairs, he is sure to make little noise, progressing with grace. But this turns to be a dangerous mistake, for as he arrives on the fourth floor he surprises a group of males. They all cast glances that seem to pierce him, though he remains strong and advances showing no sign of fret.

One of the men sizes him up, and decides he is an easy target for being small. This man, is the first to go down. As he goes to push Kodachi, the shinobi steps back and crouches, allowing arms to pass over him. But he doesn't stop here. Ivory digits grasp around the extend hands of the aggressor, and the airontoku rises as he pulls the weight of the man over his shoulder, slamming him against the cement floor. Luckily, his friends aren't so brave, lifting their comrade they retreat down the halls. After a brief moment to collect himself, the shinobi turns spotting the room and sliding the mail in through a mail slot.

His departure is rapid, and he makes haste to return to the post office, being that his courier bag is now empty. Upon arrival, the woman is pleased to see him. "Not bad, kid," she says teasingly, although really impressed with his time. Kodachi returns the items to the woman and takes his leave, giving a farewell nod as he disappears into the outside heat. exit
