These things seemed to welcome the toxic fumes and progress through them as if it were their milieu. I imagined that slyly played upon my opponent's own infectious personality. Still, I remained calm; especially considering that I could see them approaching the entire time. They were fast, but my fondness for battle stretched further than that of the average military grunt. This was my resting place, my home, and most of the time I loathed being anywhere else but there. Given my distance and position away from the snake-man and the stone obstruction (11 + Kain's backward leap distance meters away / catercorner ), it felt safe enough to inhale deeply so that I could execute my attack; my hands rested close to my face, locked in the final hand seal of the series, with my fingers next to my mouth while I exhaled profusely.3 If he could see me, it would have seemed like deja vu watching the volley of projectile fireballs spewing forth in a seemingly arbitrary pattern. However, there was a clever perk to this technique that I learned to exploit early on. As long as my vision could fix onto the fireballs, I could extend my chakra directly to them in order to control their trajectory. This may have been a difficult task for some, but when aided by my incredible All Seeing Eyes the effort was almost like child's play. In fact, I could even see my opponent clearly as he oddly coursed his tongue over the outside of his blade but my focus lied elsewhere for the time being. In a masterful display of chakra control, I would steer five of the projectile fireballs directly into the snakes that charged toward me, effectively neutralizing them with heavy fire power. An additional three would soar toward my opponent, and though an incidental miscalculation sent two of them crashing into the rock between us, a lone flier would screen in his direction with the utmost precision. Fireballs travel in a straight line, but can be manipulated individually if the user is still, is holding the last seal of the jutsu, and has eye contact with the fireball they wish to control. Description: Basic yet very effective within the Katon arsenal of jutsu, this technique allows the ninja to emit a series of small fire balls after a simple set of handseals are made. The ninja can also hurl a projectile which is covered in these same flames. To the opponent the attack appears to be only the balls of flame, because they do not see the hidden threat within the flames. I stood in calm anticipation, wondering just what my opponent might be up to next. He had the advantage in being able to see me, but his smoke screen wasn't going to last for long, the passing winds already thinning it out quite a bit, but not yet enough for me to see through it - merely deeper into the cloud than I could before.

"It's weird not being able to creep up on somebody. . ."

I laughed at the situation I was in, who knew such a big man would be as sneaky as this? If anything I expected him to try and gorilla-smash me to death, not be so smart and have such finesse! I considered using my own unique senses to track him down, but when I heard that familiar whoosh, well, I knew I needed to be prepared for what was to come. The sizzle of the flames could be heard before I could even see them, but sure enough that orange glow grew brighter and brighter as it soared through the smoke, until it shot straight through and was aimed right for my head,

Persistent

With the sword still at my mouth and poison being applied I smirked, I supposed it was time to demonstrate another unique ability of my snake DNA, although I don't know if even his eyes would be able to see the transformation completely through this smoke! With a wide grin I wouldn't move an inch, instead I would face the oncoming ball of flame directly, and then in an instant my left arm would be thrown forwards, my arm literally stretching beyond human capability and grabbing the fireball mid-air. The entirety of my appendage would be covered in resilient snake-scales, allowing me to block and snuff out the flame without trouble - and should I find anything extra added into that fireball, I'd drop it immediately, my arm returning back to me in a snap,

"C'mon monk, whattya say we do this face to face?"

The scales receded and I opened my eyes, watching through the fading smokescreen for any sign of the man who was trying to test my worth. For a man of God he sure was violent!

Highest rank known determines limb stretching range as well as its defense; the scales of the slithery snake grant it a natural defense against attacks one rank lower than the highest rank known in this jutsu.

Description: Nan Kaizou is one the most essential Kagehebi Nintaijutsu technique, as it allows a ninja to make their body extremely malleable, much like a snake. It was originally developed for spying activities, but perfected in the hands of the Kagehebi and their natural snake-infused blood. When used the clan member can stretch and twist their body at any angle, allowing them to surprise their opponents, spy on situations normally out of reach, and react much like a snake would. The only drawback is that while malleable, their bodies are highly susceptible to damage in this form as their bone structure is no longer ‘normal’.

He had done exactly that and was now in for a painful surprise. Upon grabbing down on the fireball, the palm of his hand would have unwittingly been punctured by the various protruding cusps extending from the shuriken cleverly hidden within my flames2. And simply throwing it down would have been impossible, he would have to forcefully remove it from within his flesh. He may have also noticed that his attempt to snuff the flame out with his bare hand had been unsuccessful, leaving an unsettling burn rested within his hand.3. Simply removing the shuriken was going to be a task in itself. But all was clear from behind my incredible eyes and I watched him perform an act I'd seen no other man do before. Extending his limbs from such a distance was enough to impress even myself, he had definitely proven his worth as a worthy competitor; my only issue was his defiant nature, but that may have been easily tamed with the right proposal. Still, he would have learn his place in this chain of command early on if he was willing to provde his service to the Lord. And this meeting would serve as his induction into the realm of Gods. Content that my plan had gone as I'd expected, with my pragmatist opponent seeking to display his strength by outright grabbing my caustic orb, I initied another set of seals the moment I'd seen him snatch at my Housenka. This set was extremely brief and yet another exaggerated breath ushered in my attack's next phase. A conical burst of translucent mist would set forth in his direction, quickly encompassing the majority of the area that separated us.4 The speed at which it traveled (8 m/ps)0 would be devoured rather quickly and this mist would give the olden flames a new life, bursting forth into torrential flames that sought to devour his entire body. Only men of Godly stature had been able to survive my purging flames, which were holistic in essence. To make matters clear, he had been too arrogant, even for my taste; and for that I wanted to hear him scream in repentence for his past sins. Special: Fireball specs are equal to 'Housenka', including the amount one can make. Because the fire in this technique is stronger, the projectiles combined with the fire will retain its properties as long as the user has chakra to pay for, which by default, is one turn. As such, each time retrained, the imbued projectiles will retain its fiery properties for an extra turn. However, after every third retraining, chakra consumption will go up by one.
Description: An evolution to Housenka, the user unleashes a volley of projectiles with one hand, while at the same time exhaling fire-infused chakra onto them. This is done in order to increase the weapons' destructive potential by making them capable of inflicting severe burns upon direct contact with either the intended victim or any other object caught within their trajectories. Due to the chakra-based nature of the flames that surround them, the shuriken will continue to burn after impact, regardless of the flammability of the object that they ultimately collide with.

Description: As its name implies, the Mist Waltz is just that – a vicious mist expelled by the user through their mouth at high speeds, which, when in contact with any form of flame, will create a napalm like explosion, enhancing the fire and even creating disastrous fires which quickly spread and burn. The user must be careful however, as any Fuuton jutsu of equal or greater rank could easily blow back the mist and turn the effects on the user.
