The Earth Cathedral

Days later

"And that is all for today's lessons"

One of the nuns, who responded by the name of Anastasia exclaimed. The day was barely mid day, yet they still had important matters to attend aside from basic teachings within a single room towards a single student, Rosario. However, this time, it did not have anything to do with Rosario herself, but others.

Anastasia, unlike Natasha, Rosario or even Sophitia, had no special skills that made her unique, she was just a normal person that by mere chances of the destiny ended up living with in the walls of the Cathedral, however, unlike the scarlet eyed kunoichi, she had no special kekkai genkai nor a hier of chakra control running through her veins. Also, unlike Natasha, she had no real heritage within a royal family who lived back in ancient times allowing her to have a special bond towards a certain myth pertaining the beliefs of the habitants of the Cathedral, and much more unlikely, she did not have the strenght that Sophitia had, neither physical nor mentally, who aside from being a certain physically strong woman had an amazing chakra control for being just a simple pirestess.

She was just that, a normal woman living her life beneath the life of a nun, however, unlike Natasha, who back in time had jelaous of Rosario, she did never have had a single thought or feeling of hathred towards the silver haired girl, nor towards any other one on the Cathedral, she was just there, by will, she was old enough to leave the walls of the buildings and make her own life, she was not dependant of anyone unlike the girls, she was independent, yet, she was there, happy to be.

Once the girl would leave the door, the nun would find herself alone, arranging the books used on that day's lessons. Moments later, she would look through the window, just to the other hier of the congregation, Natasha, the blond girl being at the outside part of the temple, reading a book that she just took from the library several days ago. Instants later, the sound of footsteps will be heard, and then, a female silhoutte would be seen to get inside the room.

"Tomorrow is the day"

The new arrived lady would say, whose appearance became clearer as it stepped closer to Anastasia, ending up to be the leader of the Cathedral, the priestess herself, Sophitia. With a nod of her head, the nun would turn to see her superior and smile at her before maing her statement.

"I know"

She would say, taking an item out of her pouch, some sort of gift wrapped in blue with a red ribbon, quite small to fit within the two palms of the nun. Slowly, taking it, Sophitia, the priestess, would place it on her pouch and leave the place, without saying any other word.

"Soon... soon..."

The nun muttered. Then, shall she finish her duty arranging things inside the room before leaving it and head straight forward to where the other nuns and the priestess where. The place was quite different from other days, it had different furniture all over the room, as if they would be celebrating something. Hours would pass and the three nuns along with the priestess would continue to decorate the place, this as the two girls would be outside playing with each other.

In the middle of the room, a table with a cake on it would be. The words Happy Birthday were written on it, everyone where there, even little Rosario, everyone but Natasha, who seemed to be the one to be celebrated. Seconds later the female entered, and the celebration would come, everyone happy about the event, however, there was a certain person in there to be happier than anyonelse, and it was not the celebrated but Anastasia, looking at Natasha with such an emotional sight that could not be hidden.

Slowly, getting closer, the priestess would give the gift to Natasha, the one the nun gave to her earlier back on that day, a golden necklace, quite expensive and certainly only pertaining those of the high economy, happy for her gift she would immediatly put it ont, this without knowing the real one behind such gift at that time.

Approaching the celebrated, Anastasia shall dare to give her an emotive hug, yet without any statement, and then the evening would procced as expected. Ending the celebrating the young girls would leave to bed as the nuns would stay cleaning the mess done, once everyone left, certainly not much coming from just a few females that formed the congregation.

Back to her room, Anastasia would dress and put her pijamas on, placing a photo she always carries with her on top of her shelf, in that picture, one can see the nun at earlier ages, where she was quite young, probably at Natasha's age, more or less, holding a baby, though the baby was still a new born, not even having a year, the most remarkable thing about it was the blond hair, just like Natasha herself.

With nothing else to say, the day would end and so the days would pass, this without saying anything about the picture nor the relationship of the females, this was the reason of Anastasia being there, happy to be, without an apparent reason to, free to go whenever she want though staying by her own choice, that would be the love of a mother. However, such secret shall not be revealed to the young lady, at least not yet, only when the time would come.

Days before the birthday

"I wonder if this is the needed"

A nun expressed. The female was quite away from home, she was located at the middle of the nothing, within a certain forgotten part of Tsuchi no Kuni. Wearing some sort of nun dress specially modified to easily walk through the deserted land along with several pockets, as if resembling some sort of paleontologist, the female would be inspecting a plant, one of the few that grow on the land by themselves without the need of specal help aside from the natural and enviromental characteristics of the region.

The plan was itself, brown, easily to be confused with the sightseen and color of the ground, earth and dust of the place. Only those specially designated for the botanical research of the region may be able to find then without the need of expensive and large equipment nor a team to aid them. The plant itself was small and thin, in fact, it seemed to be already dead, yet due to its natural characteristics, it was one of the several ways the nature had to protect itself.

Wearing a big pair of glasses, the nun would be holding the plant with her right hand and would stare at it for serveral seconds, moving from one side to another her hand making the plant to show its full part. Soon, without saying a thing, the nun would open her pouch in order to place it, along with some more of the same plan within the pouch.

The pouch itself was quite different, it had several bags within it, to make it perfect when placing different types of items in there, on in this case, different types of plants for then not get confused by taking them out Inside the pouch one could see several other types of plants, along with some vials containing certain liquid in them and part of small animals, such as insects, lizards, and other tiny animal found in the desert of Tsuchi no Kuni.

"This should do it"

The lady would exclaim before placing the last plant in her pouch and then head back to the Cathedral. The nun's name was Romina, one of the three nuns that was part of the congregation, along with Anastasia, she was in charge of the girls education, but more importantly, the female acted as the doctor and nurse.

She had a vast knowledge of herbalisma and animalism, making her unvaluable for the medicines needed. Not only for their own cure, but to sell them and get money to get indispensable goods, such as food, water, and any other type of items they might buy at the capital city. Basically, Romina was the one in charge to get the money to the Cathedral aside from the donations of others, who, to be honest were not that much.

"Ok then, back to home"

The female exclaimed to herself, who by the looks, was several miles away from her house, quite a hard journey for a nun, though, as Anastasia, it seemed that had a certain past to hide, something that made her prefer to stay within the so isolated placed in the middle of the nothing than going to the city and form a family.

"Good thing we are in the season"

Romina would say to her while walking back to the Cathedral, by then, a few hours already would have passed and the place should be closer than it may look, however, the female shall find danger on her way back home. The day was ending and the danger of the place approached, aside from the bandits and vulglars, the nun had to deal with the natural threats, wolves, scorpions, and other animals found around at that time of the night.

Lucky by her, those threats were rare, and for her, they represented to be a major danger than humans themselves. Just about ten minutes away from her home, a duo of men would approach the lady, both of them wearing a certain outfit giving the looks of bandits. BNandanas on head, danggers on hands and scars all over their faces.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here"

One of them would express, followed by a devilsih laugh while waving his dagger from one side to another. The daylight was still on, so it was easy to percieve their movement as the son was barely hidding.

"This may be our lucky day, brother!"

The other one responded to the first bandit's statement. Quickly, going down from the rock they were standing, the duo shall start to walk straight forward the lady, who by then only covered her face with a veil, which by the looks was one created specially by the ocassion.

Looking within her pouch the lady would take out a veil with a green liquid on it and holding it with her right hand, just for moments later throw it at the ground, specifically to where the duo was at the moment.

"This is why I rather like for people to attack me than animals"

The lady would express as she would move straight forward to where the bandits were, after all, that was the direction of her home. Soon, the grin on the bandits face would dissapear as they shall began to shake. Without being able to move, the men would just fall down unconscious letting the woman to pass by without any opposition.

"Being so noisy you allow me to get ready"

The nun would express by the moment she would pass by the bandits. The vial she threw contained a substance that when in contact with the air it becomes a gas that paralizes the organism if inhalated, but for Romina, the veil she put on her face allowed her to pass by without being affected by the poison, certainly, a mastermind.

"You came just in time, we were about to worry"

Sophitia would exclaim as the nun would arrive the place. It seemed as if she would be waiting for the nun to get to the Cathedral. Getting to the place she shall make her way towards her own room, which to say the least seemed to be the biggest bedroom of the Cathderal, even bigger than the priestess herself, however, everything had its reasons.

"I had someone to deal with"

She ended before closing the door of her room. Inside, several glasses, vials, and laboratory items could be found. In fact, one could say this to be some sort of secret laboratory, with everything needed to make any sort of experiments, though, this one was mainly used for non-offensive creations, eevrything dealing with herbs and animals.

Along with the items, the place was surrounded by a large and giatn bookshels, that unlike the books found at the library, the ones in here dealt more with herbalism and animalism, the art this nun was an expert it. Immediatly, by the time she would close the door she would take the plant she previously took from the land and throw it onto a pot that seemed to be on fire.

"Just in time, hehe"

She would say to herself, it seemed that the potion she was being mixing was just about to be finished, just needed one last ingredient, the one she just put on it. Soon, it shall be finished, an a potion as well, the one to be sold the next day at the capital city of the land of earth.

Romina, the nun specialized in nature, shall her diary be open, and a new page will be written. In there, the lady would take some time to read the already written pages, in an attempt to remember her own past.

"Like the very first day I came here"

An young female explorer looking for herbs to mix to create a certain potion that was being attormeting a small village found at the outskirts of the land of wind would exclaim. She seemed to be in the land of earth looking for the rare herbs that grow in there. Days would pass, and barely a few plants would be found, in fact, she would not get enough if it were not because a temple found at the middle of the nothing, the Cathedral of Earth.

With not even a single soul in there but just a woman to be in charge of the place, explaining that this Cathedral was just buiilt by the will of Shamash, the deity to rule in there, and that soon, the ones to form part of it shall appear and gently ask to form part of it she would await.

The two of them getting inside the building onto the back yard, where a quite small but effective garden could be found, where a few but diverse flora was found, mostly to be used to get food for the female herself, being sufficient for the ones living in there.

"I hope this is enough"

Another female would express, who bv the looks was a younger version of Sophitia, who just gave some of the herbs that she had in reserve to the lady for her potion to be finished. Back to her village, with a finished potion she would notice that the potion was not effective, at least not as she thought, she needed a vast amount of the flora that could only be found in the Land of Earth, and the only place she knew she might find them would be back to that temple.

Starting her journey, the future nun would arrive just to find out that the lady had no more herbs, dissapointed by such waste of time she was preparing to leave, however, soon, she shall be stopped by the future priestess.

"Come with me"

She demanded, getting to a place where they both would find a statue, a lizard like monster was find at the middle of it, the deity Shamash, in there, some sort of liquid would come from it, as if the sweat of a living body would come out of the inorganic statue. With a vial in hand, the priestess shall collect several drops of the so fabled liquid and give it to the explorer.

"Try with this"

She added, something that certainly took by surprise the explorer, though with nothing to lose she would do. Going all against her beliefs, her science, her researches, there was something in that liquid that aided them to cure the ones infected, as if a miracle of some sort would be happening. Something that could not be explained, something that put the lady's way to see the life onto a controversy, that would soon, make her change her way to think and form part of the congregation.

And that was the day the very first nun joined the congregation. The day the science was beaten by faith itself, the day Romina the explorer became Romina the nun. The one happy to be and happy to aid her new sisters that would come with the time. The day the congregation came to alive, the day it started.
