First Mission [P]

]"Well done, now do you know what you have to do? Teaching a student really isn't that hard if you relax. Make sure you have patience, lad." Patience, the young Genin almost laughed out loud. The mere reason why she didn't have a goal of becoming an academy teacher was solely for the reason that she didn't have patience. But she reminded herself that she had taken the mission on herself and she must complete it. As best she could, no doubt. The purple haired girl nodded her head somewhat hesitantly. Noting her hesitation, the old man would give a reassuring smile. "Ganbatte" was what he had to offer. And yet she was definitely not convinced especially since she doubted her own skill levels at both teaching and performing the jutsu. 

But the mission needed to be complete and completed today would be nice. And so the young kunoichi would bow her head, walking over to retrieve her scroll and then head towards the door. She was thinking of what kind of kid she would and could be stuck with. Looking at the timetable that she had received, she knew that the kid would now be in one of the first floor training grounds, attending jutsu training. Ah this would be a good chance for her to see his capabilities, she thought to herself. And it would give her a bit more time to stall...Evangeline made her way from the second floor of the academy to the first, walking along the main hallway and veering right as neared the end of it, heading for the training grounds. There was only one class occupying one training room. All the better for her. 
She found the class with much ease as she heard chatter amongst students from within.

The kunoichi would stand at the door, peering in. The class wasn't that big, as expected. He was a failing student and so probably could not attend the normal classes at his level offered by the academy. The students were mostly busy chatting amongst themselves while the teacher was doing a demonstration of what they had to learn for the say. No wonder they were failing, she thought as she continued to peer in from behind the door. However, there was one boy that was different. He was listening attentively and you could see from the look on his face that he was trying hard to grasp the technique. Yes, at least this boy had potential to be something great. As soon as the teacher was done his demonstration and had ordered for the students to give it a try, the purple haired girl would take the chance to interrupt. She would knock on the door and was admitted entry by the instructor. 

"I'm sorry to interrupt sensei, but I am looking for a student named Koji?" Her eyes traveled around the room as she said this. The boy that she had noticed from before raised his hand. Ah, so he was Koji. Then it wouldn't be too bad, would it? At least he had heart and passion left within him to want to desperately become a shinobi. At most he lacked skill presumably. The young Genin gave him a smile and a nod before turning back to the teacher. "I've been given a mission by the Tsuchikage to teach this young man here a jutsu. Do you mind if I borrowed him for the day?" Evangeline withdrew the mission slip from her kimono and handed it to the teacher. He read it through and then shook his head, ordering Koji to follow the girl. The two headed out the room and then veered to the left to the second training room as it was vacant. The gruesome mission would officially start at that point. Taking a deep breath, she would enter the room with the kid trailing a little behind.

"As you heard from what I said back there, I'm going to be teaching you a jutsu today. This jutsu sill be a little difficult because of the rank but once you're done with it, you'll probably have lots of fun." Yea, no kidding it was difficult since a full fledge Genin like her took five attempts to master. Because she wasn't looking for mastery from the boy, she would think that it would take less attempts for him. At least she hoped so, direly. The boy looked at her with a sense of incomprehension. Perhaps it was running through his head that nobody could possibly be or wanting to be teaching him a higher ranked jutsu. She tried to give him a reassuring smile. "My name is Evangeline but you can call me Eva. I'll be your sensei for the next few hours." And the was when it dawned upon him that it wasn't a dream. He would bow to her. It was the very first time someone bowed to her with so much respect.

Well here goes...

The young kunoichi then handed him the rolled up scroll that had been in her hand from before. It was obvious that he had never quite seen one of these scrolls before. Kouji would take it from her hand gently, as though gripping it any harder would make it rip or break. The little boy was fascinated, she could tell. "Open the scroll and find the jutsu called Syonara Rorru. That's the one you'll be learning today." the boy was actually quite obedient which she was thankful for as he unrolled the scroll to read it's content shortly after she finished instructing him to do so. Although greatly interested at what the other techniques were he knew better than to not heed to the Genin. "Sensei, is there a reason why I'm learning this?" An honest question. She explained to him that it was a higher ranked jutsu for one and that he could have fun learning it too. Nothing beats a barrel roll.

After he went over the jutsu description and somewhat managed to grasp the idea, the girl would ask that he gave it a try. At first he was a little hesitant, almost unwilling but she resassured him that everything was going to be alright. "It'll be alright. Have some confidence Kouji-kun! If you don't get it the first time just keep trying~ Ganbatte!" Of course that was true, she thought as she recalled her own numerous failures with this jutsu only moments before. Evangeline thought she had done the right thing asking him to try out the technique. Every kid had that urge to want to try something new when given the chance. And she knew this boy was no different. He handed her back the scroll and then stood a little away from her, facing the center. It was a good way to test his skill level as well as a way for her to grasp better how to teach him based on what flaws he presented. That would be how she learned if doing solo training.

Kouji would then curl into a ball just as he has seen from the description of the jutsu on the scroll. And he would try to roll on the ground manually, meaning that he had not released any chakra. He had also Judy decided to curl into a ball in a sitting position. She had made that same mistake (chakra flared though) the first time she had tried the technique. As he couldn't quite roll that far without his energy combined, the Genin would wait for him to stop before calling to him. She asked him if he could tell her what was said on the scroll as best as he could. He had good memory as he had recalled almost exactly what was said after only having read it once. "Do you know now what part of that description you didn't quite follow just now?" She walked over to him and wondered if he would get it on his own. Kouji was thinking very hard and after a moment of thinking he would reply. "I don't know, sensei." Well she guessed it was just back to the basics then...

The young woman was actually trying to think of how to explain it to him. This wasn't as easy as she remembered how difficult it had been for her to learn enough about chakra control to get one of the academy jutsus to work. Evangeline would then find a less subtle way to explain to him, hoping to the skies above that he'd get it the first time so then she wouldn't have to explain so much. "You know what chara is right, Kouji?" He gave a curt nod. "You know that you have to release a little of your chakra for each time you learn a jutsu right?" Another nod. Gosh, she had hoped that he'd get it then. "Then do you know now what you didn't do just now?" It was such an obvious answer...she waited for the little boy to scrutinize what she had just said to him in his head. Though she had more patience in explaining than she did in training, the kunoichi was honestly praying that she was not going to have to reach her limit with that too. One limit was more than enough for a single day. It seemed like the wait would last eternity but at least the outcome was a favored one.

"OHHHH! And as though a lightning bolt hit him he seemed to be in much better spirits. Without even waiting for further instructions he would walk to the middle of the room and try the jutsu again. Wow, she wished that she had so much energy and that she was able to be that excited in trying techniques. She recalled how frustrated she had been but she guessed that that would come eventually for Kouji too, if he managed to fail enough times for his own patience level to be running low. But for the moment, she would see what he could do now that he was understanding one mistake. A mistake at a time was the best way for anyone to learn anything. That had been the way she had been taught as an academy student. He would do pretty much the same thing as before except she saw sparks of uneven chakra being released powering his roll. He looked like he was stuttering as he came to a stop from his roll. Getting up off the floor, the boy called her attention. "Sensei! Did you see?" He had a happy and excited grin on his face. He still had a long way to go. 

"Good job for your first try, Kouji." The girl gave him a reassuring nod and then she wondered what could be done now. And then an idea came to her. "Can you tell me what you wanted to do back there that you thought could be better?" Another pondering moment came but this time it was much shorter, which was surprising, to say the least. The little boy would then give a smile and then say with an excited tone. "I want to try it again!" 100% should be awarded for mere dedication and determination she thought but she guessed that it was probably because he had another one of those lightning bolt moments plus the fact that he was but a kid still. He has yet to go through the real triumphs of learning, she mused. But she didn't get into a big fuss about that and allowed him to merely carry on. Once he's failed a couple more times she'll start with actually what she had planned to do. The young girl watched as he would start all over again, a determined look on his face.

At least he had perseverance. Evangeline watched as he tried once, twice and three times before turning to her again, a look of obvious frustration on his face. This was about the right time for her to enact her original plan. She walked towards him again, this time she was determined to show him how exactly this jutsu was supposed to be done. "I'll show you what you have to do. Watch carefully." The kunoichi would then flare her chakra, which was still in full motion as she had only stopped using her energy for about half an hour. The chakra in her body was still active and so calling it forward wasn't as difficult. "Your chakra being active will make you feel a little flare of warmth on the inside. Remember to always keep that flare going even when you're rolling and push your chakra out from the chakra points in your body." She was better at giving out instructions than she originally thought, which was all the better for the girl. At least there was one thing she was proud of while being a teacher.

The purple haired girl stole a glance at her student as she said those words, praying that he understood. At first he had a puzzled look on his face that later turned into a bright smile. This was better than she had thought. At least she wouldn't have to waste too much breath explaining to him, thankfully. She observed him carefully as he turned his attention back to training again. If experience has taught her anything, it would be that academy students often could only learn up to a certain parameter in terms of jutsu especially when dealing with Taijutsu. The calculated mastery distance that the scroll had said was 5m. She'd be more than pleased if he could reach 3m, accounting for his chakra imbalance and skill together. And so, as he continued to train, she would watch him carefully, making mental notes as to what he would have to improve on.

Speed was definitely one as she noticed how long it took him to actually start the jutsu training. This could be merely because he wasn't sure how to his body's energy, which she knew she still had trouble with many times while she was training. She watched as he curled into a ball. The girl stopped him abruptly. She couldn't help but notice that his movements were off and was keen on making them right. She was not sure how she could verbally explain to him. And so, the best thing was to show him directly. The kunoichi would tell her student to stop what he was doing and watch her movements, mimicing them as best as he could for best performance. The chakra in her body was still very active which was just what she needed at the moment. The thing she had been fearing was about to play out. She only hoped that she wouldn't fail Kouji. It wouldn't look good for her nor would it set a good example for the kid. The last thing she wanted was to fail her own student.

Evangeline would close her eyes for a fraction of a second, trying to stabilize her unstable feelings about doing this. Well here goes nothing...The young Genin would then open her eyes in a flash and was already jumping upward, her knees bringing close to her chest and her arms wrapped around her shins and ankles. As she came down on her knees she would move her body forward so that her now human ball shape would begin to roll. The second she felt the hard surface connect with her knees she would then release the gathered energy from all her chakra points. Of course, she wasn't aware how much chakra was released. But she guessed it to be enough. Her chakra was still being released as she felt her body picking up speed whilst rolling on the ground, obviously powered by the energy. As she rolled she wondered what the distance was. And the girl would find out soon enough.

One...Two...Three...Four...FIVE!

The little boy was clapping his hands excited as he saw her making a fool out of herself by rolling on the ground like a barrel. He kind of got what she was saying but knew that it'd be much harder for him to do himself. He knew it was always easier to watch than anything. As she skidded to a stop and retracted her body's energy, she would stand up from the ground and look at the distance between her and her student. That was 5m wasn't it? She let out a relieved smile shine through. Now it was Kouji's turn. And he was a good student especially at mimicing. Evangeline noticed that his chakra control was still off by a lot but again he was only an academy student. As he came down from his jump, his body's chakra was slightly uneven but was enough to fuel his little body as he began to roll like a barrel. He was definitely skilled, just needed a little push. And the final result? He had made 3m, which was definitely not bad for a boy at his level.

But Kouji himself wasn't quite done and satisfied. Normal kids would be more than satisfied at what had been accomplished especially because it was supposedly a jutsu out of their league. Upon seeing the mission slip even Evangeline had questioned whether it was seriously possible for an academy student to learn a C rank technique. But because the mission had been created by the Tsuchikage himself, she dared not question. And yet now, as she stared at her student, she wondered if her original worries were just her being overly anxious about everything. Kouji was certainly faring very well given his age and skill level. It was hard for her to imagine that the boy was failing the academy with his determination. What was it that he lacked which put him in this kind of a state. Only the lazy students would be failing. Unless he was only out to impress her for the day. But that seemed unlikely. 

The boy was still trying the jutsu again and again hoping to make some kind of major improvement. She had originally thought that maybe she would need to hold a little spar with him to get him to learn the jutsu, like what the old man had done for her. And she was glad that she didn't have to. Evangeline hardly wanted to injure the little guy even if it would bs an accidental injury. The fact that he got it on his own was great. Throughout his trial and error, he didn't get much further than he had originally wanted to, which meant that he was technically at a standstill. But what he had done was build a more solid foundation for the technique which often came with more practicing. As the old saying goes: practice makes perfect. It was rather amusing to watch a kid roll around on the ground like a barrel. At least it didn't look awakward like she knew she must have looked when she was learning and then teaching it. 

Another couple of tries and the girl could already see that her student was running out of energy. She stopped him and told him that of he wanted to get better at it to ask one of his usual instructors what things he could do to make sure that his chakra was more balanced and can be released longer. "It's all about practice." The purple haired girl would smile and pat him gently on the head. "But remember, don't just stop here. You haven't reached the full 5m length yet. Keep practicing, okay? And don't forget to treat all jutsus that you learn like this one. Since you've learned this one, the others should come easier." Again another nod of acknowledgment. She found that she had renewed idea about teaching. It was great to see students do well. The boy bowed his head once more, to which she returned with a little nod of her own.

"I learned a lot today. Thanks, sensei" 

And with that marks the conclusion of this mission, her first ever one. She could hardly believe that she had made it through safely. The girl gave him one last big smile and watched as he ran out of the training room. This boy made her remember her says as a student, when all she aspired to be was a Genin. Now that she was one...it seemed as though it would be better placing her back into the academy. If only time knew how to tuen backwards. Collecting her saber and her scroll, she too would head out of the training room, walking down the long hallway that led her back to the entrance of the academy. As she walked past the doors she would stop for a moment, turn back and smile at the sweet memories, and then walk out.

Her first mission was finally over!!
