Ah, now this is much better. This is probably what I was supposed to be doing instead of all that monotonous scroll moving. God I hate scrolls now, can’t even write letters to people anymore…. He griped openly as he made his way from his home close to the center of Iwagakure no sato and outward to the outer extremities of his village in a slow and leisurely but in no way lazily pace. He was sort of happy to say the least, he was getting not only a higher ranked mission today but also a different kind of mission.

He had dressed himself semi lightly, but also in what he assumed was appropriate for what he would be doing. He was going to today, ascend and transcend the normal duties of a genin, he was actually going to be doing what a chuunin would normally be doing. The chuunin however in a lack of population were rather hard to find, so it left most of the village duties no matter quite how perilous up to genin like him. Today he would protect the very village he lived in. Today he would be guarding the borders of iwagakure no sato.

But, he painted it out rather grandly, perhaps a bit too much from the grand description he gave it, almost as if it would be something he would be glad to do in his spare time, when he was most assured it was not, at least this is what the other genin had told him. They had told him not terrible nor great stories, rather they retold their own stories of preforming guard duty, as if they were grizzled veterans of the trade. He didn’t account however for how many times they had done it though, but they all said basically the same thing: “boring”.

The border is only partially covered by the Samurai protectors for now, so we need you to patrol the areas not covered, which should last an entire morning or afternoon depending on when you set out. You will be given enough food and supplies to last you the afternoon, anything more you wish to bring will be your own things and will not come from the village.
Special Requests: Although I would prefer this be done in teams, you may do this solo, if I see you as fit to do so. It's a C-rank so we're not expecting too much trouble.

Yet he couldn’t be so swayed and so easily affected by their stories, he didn’t want to arrive at his job already thoroughly depressed by what could be considered nothing more than simple tall tales. His footsteps came down numerous in number and silently as he continued forward and forward still, he could see the wall of the village from his house, hell he could see it from the very rear of the village but that was only because it was so infinitely large, it didn’t mean he was getting close, just closer to it, the great grand wall of his village.

He supposed they would give him a spear, all the guards he had seen in comics or in stories had spears, it just seemed like the guard type weapon. He didn’t know why except for perhaps when they did the whole “you shall not enter” thing where they crossed their spears, but he would rather have like… a gun or a sword to be honest. A spear was a bit too awkward for him to handle, it was too heavy and too large, it left too much gap in his swings and thrusts could be easily dodged.

But he figured he wouldn’t have to worry too much about which weapon he wanted, frankly he had his standard ninja to, he had his shuriken and his kunai and even his explosive tags. He figured eh shouldn’t use explosive tags, if he damaged the wall in any way it would probably be coming out of his paycheck… walls were expensive he guessed so it wouldn’t be simply one paycheck that would be deducted, it would probably be like his next ten or twenty. He wouldn’t want to be doing more slave like labour for the next half year just because of a small mistake.

Finally he reached the border wall, it was a grand thing tall and taller still. If the wall had eyes he would probably see an ant staring back up at it, but that was neither here nor there. He pivoted in pace slowly, swiveling his head lazily. He was looking… looking for the entrance, where in the world would the entrance be? It was so grand that it was possible that he had ended up in a spot which was merely wall as far as the eye could see, until he spotted a nondescript wooden door. There we go!
