description; The head of a local clan took offence when upon passing a local ramen shack, some ramen was spilt and his favourite kimono got a small stain on it. In spite of the fact it was unintended his ego is so great that he plans to make an example of the ramen stall owner. To this effect it is suspected that clan nin will be sent to set fire to the shack. You have been hired to protect it from attack and dissuade the clan against any further action

Asa’s feet hurt. He had been walking, running, marching, running some more, and doing jumping jacks all afternoon. Those bastards at the rehab clinic were trying to kill him, he knew it. Walking through the streets in the middle of the night, thinking about those bastards made him suddenly shout out his inner thoughts, “Charlatans! Snake oil salesmen! GAAAAH!” The frustration was filling him. He had been stuck in their care ever since the ANBU had gone looking for him and found him at his training hide away sobbing. Those bastards gave him over to the medical clinic when all he needed was some time to think. Those guys who were supposed to be his so called ‘brothers’ sent him off to be poked and prodded endlessly until he finally relented and told the psychiatrist they made him talk to what happened. Of course they didn’t believe Asa. He had told them about the Uchiha sage testing him and a few others. About the men who died and the helplessness he felt. Asa probably wouldn’t have believed it either if not for the third tomoe he had gained as a result. He was lucky they finally let him out on missions. He had to lie in the end and acknowledge it as a dream. Jerks. It didn’t stop them from running him through his paces though. Now he had to go out on some stupid, night guard duty mission since all the other good ones were taken.

He knew it didn’t matter what the mission was, as long as it got his feet wet again, and put his name back in the money log book, but he still wanted it to be something good. Finally after about twenty minutes of walking, complaining included, Asa reached his destination. The ramen shop named Odanobu Ramen shop. The owner apparently needed some guards cause some street thugs or something were bugging him. Asa hadn’t read the mission briefing. Surprises were just too much fun. He smiled at the thought of what his ANBU brothers always said to him when he told them that.

Still smiling as he walked in, his eyes were greeted with a pleasant little sit down ramen bar. The curtains that covered the entrance stopped the scent of the ramen from escaping so the interior gave Asa quite a hunger. The light inside made it easy to see. The bar stools had padding but one or two had some cracks in their seat leather. Overall, not the best, but certainly not the worst place Asa could pick to guard. Sitting at the bar before the shop closed, Asa ordered a bowl and introduced himself to the owner. Oda was his name. The old man fixed Asa up his bowl, and then began telling him of the trouble. How the Dessu clan patriarch had walked by and got dirty. How they were going to try ruining his shop even though he apologized. It seemed like it would be a long night. “Well big guy, I’m just waiting for my partner to get here. Two of us were assigned. The other guy should be here anytime.” Asa hadn’t met this ‘Kai’ but he had been given a description, and Kai should be arriving anytime now.

Kai groaned quietly as he walked down the misty streets, due to kumogakure's elevation tons of fog was normal and didn't bother him, it actually helped calm and steady his mind. he thought over the mission briefing earlier and shook his head, some people were assholes and don't deserve the wealth and standing they have.

As the sun set in the distance he grinned to himself as he watched the crimson lights bounce off of his multitude of iron piercings covering his arms. Taking into account those around him he kept walking, not very many people were opened minded let alone about a past enemy. As he made his way to the raman stand he caught the scent of cooking meat on his way and let his mind wander as his thoughts filled of juicy meat and succulent buns.

However his reverie ended as he came to the shop and sighed ducking in and taking a seat waving at the man already there. He then told the man he was there to help with his problem and he silently motioned towards the other man. "Oh so you're my partner? An Uchiha eh?"

[Kinz]

A man entered the room as Asa finished shoveling a scoop of the ramen the owner gave him into his mouth. This reasonably tall and muscular man would seem average had it not been for the odd black piercings he had in his body. Interesting as those were, Asa’s ramen was simply too good to pull away from. With his mouth still full he would respond to the other ninja, “yeah, and you must be Kai? Sit down, have a bowl. I doubt they will be causing any trouble for a bit. At least not until late tonight. No need for them to bother this place when witnesses might still be awake.”

Asa continued eating his ramen, and asked the manager to bring the other ninja a bowl as well. Now was probably the time to talk of strategy, but this food was going to make that difficult. “Hey Oda. You got any sake back there? Me and this guy will talk over a cup or two.” The old man seemed disturbed by the idea of his security drinking on the job, but he complied and got the drink as he had no wish to offend his two chances at hope. As the bottle of sake came Asa tossed some money on the table for both bowls of food, and the sake. Then he would pour out 2 cups and set one out for Kai. Then taking a quick gulp he would exhale with a satisfying sigh.

“So, what can you do? I was told something about sand? You’re a genin right? If that’s the case, why don’t you tell me what you think we should do? This way you get a little leadership experience before you end up trying to go up in rank. You probably know a bit about what my clan can do. In addition to that I know a little Earth and a lot of Lightning techniques. Not gunna be specific. Tell me who should do what should a fight break out. Assuming the enemy are normal ninja of course.”

[Etherion]

"Unless they're stupid..." He mused as he took his place his black hair flared up a little with the increased humidity in the shop. Kai asked the man if he had any plain beef he could serve him rather than ramen though it was more of a side-long statement. The man then expressed an interest in Kai's abilities and asked him to lead the mission for the sake of experience, the man brought Kai his meat which he picked up and bit a chunk out of it hungrily as the growl that was welling up in his stomach was quelled.

"Yeah I have access to a lot of sand techniques, and I dabble in swordplay a little, due to your wider range of ability and method of attack, I think you should be the first line of defense in an assault that way if you miss anyone I can pick them off." Kai said to the man tearing at the rare meat swigging down the sake. His blades hung at his side nearly to the point he didn't take notice of them anymore while he glanced at the piercings covering his arm.

[Kinz]

“Hmmm, an interesting idea. Oda, gimme an order of that beef too please. Smells awesome.”

Asa had started to speak about Kai’s battle plan, but midway through his sentence the smell of the beef overwhelmed him and he just had to ask for some. Then he returned his gaze to Kai after seeing Oda get the meet started.

“I would say that is a good idea; however my techniques lend themselves primarily to single target, pinpoint assaults. Many of them being extremely powerful and tiring. Some would call me a bit heavy handed. So with that in mind, and keeping in mind that your sand techniques as well as sword play are most likely less physically exhausting, and better at covering larger areas, why would you not take the lead and keep the enemies back from our defensive zone and I’d pick off the few that would come inside our perimeter?”

Asa was speaking like they were two old friends discussing chess strategy, not someone who was about to be in a life and death situation.

“Don’t get me wrong, you’re plan works well, I just think that because we’re facing non village forces its very likely they will be weaker than us. Not to underestimate non-village ninja, just saying that their strategy tends to gear to lots of warriors with less skill then one or two strong enemies. If it was the case we would be facing one or two, I would say you had the right idea of me attacking and you taking a more support position to cover my back. And I know you didn’t have all the needed pieces of info on my strengths or the enemy troop composition, but that generally how it goes in the field. Sometimes you need to assume some things and adapt am I right?”

Asa was smiling as he devoured the food placed in front of him. Perhaps the genin had a mind for tactics, but perhaps he would one day turn out like Asa, brash and impulsive.

Kai nodded quietly and held his fist out to Asa in friendly gesture so he could bump it. Regardless of the action he would finish the food and sigh contemptibly. afterwards he would turn and glance at the street before letting his hanging hand swirl slowly as the black pavement became less distinct and solid rather than distinct curves of the solution. As the trap was set he grinned softly and leaned back on the counter before looking back at his partner no doubt not noticing the change since he broke down the fields held within the pavement to supply his iron sand in the same black color of the pavement.

"That works for me Im a bit rusty anyway so this could help me a lot, I'll take point and you defend. Oh and try to stay off the street k? my sand is very aggressive."

[Kinz]

Smiling and returning the fist bump Asa nodded and slipped the final piece of food from his plate into his mouth and took one final gulp of sake. Then he would make his way towards the front exit and with a flurry would jump and climb the side of the small building with great ease. He never touched the ground where Kai had said to be careful. From his perch on the roof Asa would watch and wait.

It wouldn't be long though. As the lights of the village turned down and the people went to sleep the villains would come out to play. Asa slowly unsheathed the the gladius he kept on his person and raised it to defend himself. Almost instantly two masked men appeared on the rooftop with him. Both brandished kunai aimed for Asa. The gladius sung as it soared through the night air clinking against the kunai to create the familiar music of battle.

The two men swung with reckless abandon, neither seeming particularly ready to face opposition of Asa's caliber. His blade screamed and met each advancing strike in turn. The two were flanking him correctly, Asa just seemed faster, his longer blade giving him the ability to keep them just out of reach of his body. As the ninja attempted to get under his guard Asa would jump and end up perpendicular to the roof below him, spinning vigorously and using his blade in a buzz saw maneuver to push the enemy back. He was sure this was just a force used to test them after the enemy heard of forces being sent here. There would be more, most likely better ninja coming soon. Perhaps already here. No need for Asa to show off until the time came. For now he would defend, and watch.

As his partner left to the roof Kai left the table and strode out into the center of the street. Once he took up his stance he would draw one of the katana at his hips and closed his eyes. With the sudden slosh of iron sand underneath his enemies feet he stepped back while using his breakdown to erode the blade of one of his attackers before grabbing it and angling the still sharp end into the gut of his second attacker while the shock made the second man bring his blade down into his companion.

Kai opened his eyes looking at the two bloodied bodies and grinned wide smelling the sweet iron blood. His sand would rob the bodies of their metal before breaking it down into more sand for him. though the entire scene from afar would look like nothing more then well timed evasion. As two more flanked him he crouched low and pushed the sand out from under their feet making them trip. With his positioning one of the attackers would fall throat first onto his blade as he brought his knee up into the second attackers nose cracking it apart and sending the shards up into the target's brain.

He grinned madly licking the fresh blood from his wrist as he dumped the body off of his blade. Surely this wasn't all they had was it? "Hey! how are you doing?"

[Kinz]

“Hey, how you doin?” called Kai from the street below. Asa was busy playing with the shinobi sent to probe their forces, but they weren’t distracting enough to warrant much attention. Calling back Asa responded, “Not bad. Don’t let your guard down. These are probably an initial wave.”

Just then Asa saw it. In the distance coming across the other roof tops was a man. He jumped over the gap between every building making his way towards them. He carried a torch in one hand and was moving incredibly swiftly. Asa couldn’t afford to play anymore. The crimson flared in his eyes granting him untold perception abilities. He saw every strike from the weak ninja in front of him before they even knew they would make it. His blade slipped between their guards like a hot knife through butter and carved a gash through each of their necks. Their blood splattered over the roof. Then in one swift motion Asa tossed his gladius into the air to be caught by his left hand and extended his right so it could be charged with chakra.

Now with the Sharingan active Asa could see more enemies flooding the rooftops. Three more men followed the man coming with the torch, and four were about to come at Kai from the street level flanking him from every direction. Asa smirked. They probably had never seen something like he was about to do. He wasn’t even sure he had enough energy to pull it off, even being at full strength like he was. Seeing as he had a partner here though, perhaps this was the time. “KAI! JUMP!”

His right hand erupted in a massive display of Raiton energy. The Raikiri glowed with its awesome energy. Then he would shove the lightning blade into the roof below him. Usually it would simply cut through, but this time instead he released the energy in a wave. The bolts of electricity flowed out along the building below Asa and out to the other buildings. With his sharingan active the roof top ninja had no chance of avoiding such a powerful attack, all four would be paralyzed, the torch being locked in the forerunners grip.

At the street level his lightning would hit the iron sand that Kai had on the ground. Hopefully he was off the street as Asa had told him to. The lightning would conduct along the iron particles and would charge them, making them able to cut better than the sharpest blade. The tendrils of electricity would also most likely paralyze the four who were coming to get Kai after they stepped within the zone of combat. After the dazzling display the crimson would fade from Asa’s eyes. He no longer had enough energy to even maintain that. His body would fall limp on top of the ramen shop roof and he’d await what would happen.

"KAI, JUMP!" He needed very little provocation and as the four men came at him he would lean forward stabbing his blade into the pavement and swinging himself up onto it holding himself and balanching on the pommel. As the Surge of white electricity ran down the building it would betray his black sand as it charged it into a glowing white mass of energy. With a simple push off of his sword he landed in the same moment that his glowing white sand would erupt through the 4 swordsman that came at him making four brilliant shafts of light come up around him as his feet touched the ground.

Though the display of power was impressive he felt a bit of doubt within him that his partner had much strength left. With deft agility Kai jumped onto the side of the building running up it to reach the roof. As he saw his fallen comrade he rolled his eyes sighing before moving under him and taking him upon his shoulder before jumping back down into his cushion of iron sand laying him across the counter inside. "Looks like its my show now."

[Etherion]

Kai grumbled as he sheathed his blade and put some sake in his partners shallow wounds though it would sting and possibly wake him up. Kai didn't care as long as he lived. With the crude treatment concluded he went back outside leaning against the building as his sand shifted around his feet ready to defend and slaughter.

[Kinz]

Asa woke as the birds chirped through the front opening of the ramen shop. Morning had come and a headache plagued Asa. Staggered breaths came forth. He remembered most of what happened. He had let loose, and used up probably all his energy. Being that the building was still standing and he was resting comfortably, he could safely assume that Kai had cleaned up what was left.

For some time Asa struggled, eventually the noise of his feeble movements were given up on. he was having no luck getting to his feet, and it just felt better to lay there a while. Perhaps Oda would come soon and fetch him some food for breakfast. A good meal never went amiss, even though he had stuffed himself like a pig the night before.

[Etherion]

Kai sat at the table tearing through the pile the man had prepared for him. He calmly ate the meat as his mind seemed in a distant place and as he noticed his partner waking up he inclined his head and swallowed the piece of meat hanging from his mouth with an audible gulp. "How'd you sleep partner?"

[Kinz]

Asa's arms felt like they were filled with led, but the smell of the food on the table by Kai called to him. He staggered like a new born baby trying to walk for the first time over to the chair opposite Kai.

"Ugh, never better i suppose", Asa's toothy grin kept across his face as he dug into the food in front of them. "Remember how i was talking about my techniques being pinpoint and precise and all that? I lied a bit. Some of them produce quite a light show". Asa could see a few cracks and burns in the ground outside, and there was probably slight damage to the ramen shop and the surrounding buildings, but nothing to major he suspected. His energy had merely conducted through those things into the enemy. This little section of the village probably wouldnt forget that little display anytime soon.

Asa chuckled a bit, "So after we chow down, what do you say we head on back. I'm probably gunna need a hand. It seems i've used quite a bit of energy." Asa specifically took the final piece of meat on the plate. The last one was already the best. He had wolfed down way more then his share at this point, and he was beginning to feel a bit better because of it.

[Etherion]

"Yeah I noticed, and sure we might as well head back." He said quietly as he burped lightly rubbing his stomach letting his partner eat his fill to restore his stamina, he would close his eyes to relax. However as Kai paid for it he felt entitled to the last piece and as he opened his eyes he saw his partner picking up HIS last piece of beef and plucked it from his utensils with his fingers and and in the next second it disappeared down his gullet before he grinned. "Sorry man, my money my food."
