Special: Oil automatically raises offensive Katon and Raiton jutsu by a single rank. Highly combustible, it rains down upon the general area of the target, making it easy to create large fires.
Description: One of the many advantages of Suiton is its ability to assist other elements in their power. In this case, the user summons forth flammable oil so that they can use this in conjunction with other jutsu. After forming the necessary hand seals, a black mist will emit from the user’s body and will rise into the sky. In the next turn, black clouds will form, releasing an intense, heavy flammable rain of oil onto one’s targets.

The oil-based chakra would explode with hardly a peep from his exposed skin and through his clothing, spanning in all directions and covering the training ground with its dark influence. Just as it had been exposed to the fresh air of Kumogakure, however, Atlas would make sure to tighten the grip he had on the ram seal and establish that connection he had with the chakra in the beginning, as it had been lost when he had forced it out into the open as the mist he had required it to be. The air was murky with its influence as the black mist rose to the sky, fueled by the Cloud ninja's determination and mental connection. He didn't find it hard at all, connecting with the oil-based chakra that wafted through the air, but he didn't let that pride blind his efforts. He still needed to do a few things.

As the black mist rose towards the sky in unison, he would focus on urging the substance to gather in the sky and form an amassed black cloud. The mist responded, but not exactly as he had hoped it would the first time. It swirled in the sky ominously, leaving an open circular space within its boundaries others would refer to as the "eye of the storm". But the Cloud ninja in question wasn't looking for something that would simply 'intimidate' the enemy. He was looking for a cloud that would unleash a downpour of oil on the piece of battlefield he required it to land on. Thus, he would pump some more chakra into the mist and force it to form to his will even more so. He would have his way!

The mist hanging up in the air gradually began to heed his commands, but it was then that he noticed that it felt a little too light for his liking. If it was going to last as long as he expected it to last, pouring oil rain on the battlefield, then it would require just another notch of water-based chakra- the last he had in his reserves. He'd focus on the cloud intently with a single glare, and transmit that chakra through. Now all he had to do was wait for the cloud to activate on its own, and hopefully he had put sufficient energy within it to do so.

Tired, beaten and generally exhausted from all of his previous training, Atlas decided he'd teach one of his black beauties a technique he had fooled around with years ago. Issuing a short string of hand seals, he summoned a single raven from the forest scenery beyond, offering his left forearm as a branch of sorts for it to perch on. Once it landed on the limb, he would coo with affection as he cuddled the ruff of feathers beneath its neck with two fingers. "Who's a good boy?!" He'd coo with his customary toothy smile. "Who's a good boy?" When the raven failed to respond, simply darting its head from side to side and evaluating the scenery, as all birds do, Atlas would chuckle. "Oh, that's right. You haven't been taught to talk... yet, have you? Or better yet, mimic, hm?" Dropping down on his butt on the middle of his stone platform, he would sigh happily. "Well, you're in luck, lovely. Imma teach you!"

Seeing as raven's were intelligent birds, Atlas would start simply, quite confident in the fact that his little birdie would catch on pretty quick. "Can you say, GOOOOOOOD?" He started, trying to look the raven in its eyes as he spoke. "GOOOOOOD. GEEEEEEH-UHD." He waited for a reply, waiting with anticipation for a peep of anything, really. Anxious to see his raven speak. But the bird simply ignored his attempt at teaching, and ruffled one of its wings with the tip of its obsidian beak. It wasn't interested, it seemed, but Atlas believed he could capture its attention with another method of teaching. Perhaps if he teased it a bit, kept on repeating what little sounds it made, it would understand what he wanted it to do later. It was a long shot, but worth giving a try.

Jokingly, he'd reach around the bird and pull on its tail lightly, causing it to caw in reply and flap its wings. "CAW!" It would cry out. "CAW, CAW!"

And in reply, with a mischievous smile, Atlas would reply, "KAH- KAH, KAH!" He continued to smile as the raven gave him the once over with its beady black eyes in silence. Wondering whether it had gotten the message so soon, Atlas would ruffle its neck with two fingers and continue his little project. "Do you like it when I say, KAH, KAH KA-"

"CAW, CAW, CAW!" The raven would suddenly interrupt, bolstering the Cloud ninja's confidence that this task was indeed capable of doing.

They'd reached a particularly primitive form of communication with one another- Atlas and his little black beauty- but it was time to advance to a clearer form of dialogue. Now that the raven knew what he was intending to teach, or play even, the raven would more susceptible to Atlas' advances as a teacher of language and mimicking. Ignoring the slight sting of the bird's talons, dug into the forearm it was perched on, Atlas would look into the raven's eyes and proceed. "APPLE. Say, AAAAAAAAH-PULL. Can you do that for me, lovely? APPLE?" As he looked into the raven's eyes, and continued to speak to it as he would speak to a human baby, Atlas subtly pulled a little trick on the side. Though whether the raven picked up on it or not, with its cunning animal senses, the Cloud ninja didn't know. In the end, however, it didn't seem to matter.

While he was going over the word 'apple' with the raven very meticulously, Atlas was simultaneously tapping into his vast pool of chakra with his mind. He was drawing bits of chakra with each syllable he spoke, focused intently on the bird's beady black eyes- for one once said the eyes were the 'window to the soul'. Hoping that was true, Atlas sought to build a mental, almost psychic connection, with his crow. He had wondered and hypothesized that the reason he couldn't push it into uttering a single word was because he hadn't involved the use of chakra at all. And since he had this method of mentally suggesting his ravens to follow his commands, which practically came as a default after he'd learned the Sanzengarasu no Jutsu, he figured he would utilize it for this technique as well. After all, ravens naturally knew how to mimic voices. He just needed to throw in a little chakra to unlock that ability and adhere it to his commands.

Atlas' mental suggestion, fueled by the chakra within, worked only as long as he simultaneously envisioned a picture of the object or thing he was mouthing out. So whenever he said the word apple, focusing on the raven so strongly he swore he was seeing double at one point, then he would picture an apple- a bright red macintosh, in the snapshots of his thoughts. "Say APPLE. APP-PULLL." He watched as the raven refused to speak, twisting its head around and craning its neck as if it were confused. Stroking its back with his free hand, Atlas would smile and subtly make a connection with the energy that ran through the bird's being. "Can you say it now? APPLE?" A guttural sound escaped the raven's beak. The Cloud ninja pondered whether that was a yes or a no. He was supposed to be teaching the raven human, not the other way around.

Then, suddenly, a response. "ARPUR?" Followed by an awkward silence. Atlas grinned. They were finally making progress, but there was still more room for advancement and precision to be made. Petting the raven softly on its bony little head, the Cloud ninja would chuckle.

"Goooood, good! That's it! Let's try again."

"AAAH-PULL. APPLE." Atlas would promptly repeat. "You see how I pronounce it there? AAAH-PULL. Can you say it like that for me?"

"ARPUR." The raven would mutter, as if trying out the word for itself before listening to its master. "ARRR-PUR." It abruptly began to flap its wings, crying out twice before adjusting its talons on Atlas' forearm. "ARPUR, ARPUR!"

"No! APPLE, you twat!" Atlas would correct, lightly pinching its beak like a nose and jostling it around. "APPLE." He continued, looking into its eyes with a look of disbelief. "Can't you just say- APPLE?" And there, as he looked into the bird's eyes, he envisioned an apple within the murky depths of its oculars, forcing the image, with all the psychic and mental ability at his disposal, down the raven's skull. "APPLE."

The raven turned its head awkwardly. "APPLE." It suddenly uttered, creating a wide-grinned smile on Atlas' face. "APPLE." It repeated blandly, as if it were tired of the human's demands and didn't want to hear anymore.

"Ha ha!" Atlas would laugh heartily, patting the raven affectionately on the head. "You beautiful creature, you! There might just be hope for you yet! APPLE!"

"APPLE."

"APPLES!"

"APPLES."

"APPLES AND BANANAS!"

"APPLES MANG RABRAHA."

"AND... BANANAS."

The raven paused. And with good reason. It had only just recently managed to utter a single word, and now the human was expecting it to form a sentence, as short as it was. But while its instinct told it to simply caw, its mind was suggesting and urging it to adjust and comply to its master's words. It could indeed feel that mental connection with its master, it could picture crude thoughts. Thoughts that it knew wasn't its own, and it listened intently to the word its master spoke. Yes, this was what the master had wanted it to do. It could feel it, and it would comply.

"AND." It repeated, stopping to catch its thoughts.

"AND BANANAS." Atlas continued.

"BANANAS."

"Yes, yes! APPLES AND... BANANAS."

"APPLES AND BANANAS."

Atlas smiled with glee, proud of his lovely pet, proud of himself, surprised he was a decent teacher. But there was one word in particular he wished to hear from his feathered friend. A test of its mental abilities and trained sense to adapt.

"SNARKELAFAUPUGUS." It if could repeat this word in its first try, then his job here was done. If it couldn't, then there was still things they'd need to work on.

Some light footfalls could be heard as the female jumped through the forest. 'I'm supposed to meet senpai here' thought Yukiko while she looked for the male. She then saw him stand with a crow; was it his pet or something like that?
The girl decided to surprise him; she landed a few feet behind him without making a sound. The Genin then walked forwards before she said: "SENPAI!".

"Sorry for scaring you, but I need a little help with a ninjutsu. I think it's called kirigakure no jutsu or something" said the female with what she hoped was an innocent smile. She did a few handseals before she said: "Suiton! Kirigakure no jutsu!". A mist appeared and covered an area of about 8 meters within seconds.

But the problem was that the mist was far too thin; it was practically see-through. "I need some help with making the mist thicker so nobody can see through it. I usually go for hyouton jutsus, so this is a little unusual. What do you think?" asked the brunette while she looked at him. Did he have the answer she searched for?

"SENPAI!!!"

"HOLY-" Atlas flinched, holding his tongue as he was in the presence of a child. If he hadn't been so engrossed with the crow on his forearm, his natural abilities as a sensor would have picked up on Yukiko as she made her debut. Unfortunately for his sake of pride, that didn't happen. He turned around mid-laughter to face the young girl as his crow disappeared in a sudden poof of smoke. "Aren't you a bundle of surprise?"

The girl apologized for scaring him- to which he replied with a defiant 'pffft'- and promptly asked him to help her with a ninjutsu she needed improvement on. Though she pierced his defenses with an innocent smile, Atlas was already set on helping her achieve what she needed to do. After all, Yukiko was practically like a little sister to him, and he could not deny her help to improve her skills as a ninja. She issued a few hand seals before giving him a visual example of the technique she wished to perform. After explaining what she wanted to improve on, she would look at Atlas inquisitively for answers.

"Ah," Atlas would start. "The Hidden Mist Technique, hm? I used to have loads of trouble trying to perform that technique in the past. It can be quite tricky when you don't know the specifics of the ninjutsu. But I'm sure I can help you with that." Smiling, he'd sit back down on the stone platform beneath them and gesture for Yukiko to sit across from him. "The way I see it, if the technique doesn't require standing up, then we should just sit down, and focus all of our attention on chakra control, hm?" He'd say with a smile, crossing his ankles over each other. As the mist she'd summoned earlier gradually began to disappear, Atlas would lead Yukiko through the specifics.

"Now... one thing you have to understand about the Hidden Mist Technique is that it musn't be rushed. There will, indeed, come a point in your experiences as a ninja where you can summon the mist in an instant, but for now we're going to have to focus on simply summoning the jutsu with all of its potential- ignoring the speed in which it arrives." Issuing the string of hand seals required for the technique, he would continue. "Now, follow my lead. Issue the hand seals, but stop at the last one. The dragon- you'll be using that one to concentrate all the chakra within you. When you feel that chakra cool your body- like water- then you'll move on amplifying it. Try focusing on that. The process of determining your limit, and changing chakra natures to your required element, can be grueling. But it must be practiced nonetheless." Cheerfully, he'd watch as Yukiko continued.

But I'm sure I can help you with that." said the male with a smile. He sat down on the stone platform and the female did the same thing.

"OK...Here's the first try" said the Genin before she took a deep breath. She focused some of that strange energy inside her body. 'I don't have any reason to stress since this is just a training session. Take a deep breath' thought the female.
She could feel the chakra circulate inside her body, which was not an unfamiliar feeling with her. But it was not very often she trained a jutsu like she did now.

Pale taupe eyebrows knit as she tried to make the chakra just a little bit stronger than last time. She did not try to overdo it since she was not as experienced as the male next to her. 'It's time!' thought the brunette when she felt the chakra started to cool her body.
Her hands did the handseals with medium speed and stopped with the dragon one. Ice blue eyes narrowed as the girl focused on this as much as she could.

"Suiton! Kirigakure no jutsu!" said Yukiko before she let go of the chakra she had stored up so far. She did not notice anything at first, thinking that the jutsu had been a failure. But the female would change her mind a few seconds later when some fog had appeared around them.
It arrived at a slower speed, but it was harder to see through than the last one. A smile formed at her face since this looked like an improvement from last time.

"What do you think of this senpai? It's slower, but I cannot see your eyes as well as I used to" said the Genin with a smile on her face. She had no idea of how much he could see of her, but it could not be much better at his side.
By now, the fog had covered an area of ca. 7 meters. It was not as large as the last one but the fog was thicker.

Teaching ♬ Yukiko

Atlas watched as the young Genin went through the steps he had advised her to do. Blurry thoughts of yonder years surged through his mind, like evanescent snapshots of film, lost in the reels of time. Holding the dragon seal with her, the Cloud ninja found it a bit difficult- concentrating when, mentally, he was elsewhere. Exactly how had his life been before the War? He knew he had been a ninja before... a swordsman. But how was his family like? What had been his son's name? Was he a happy person? All these things were lost to him, swallowed whole by the amnesia that plagued his brain, a remnant of the Great Flash. Shaking his head a bit, Atlas would suddenly snap back into teacher mode, when Yuki-chan yelled out the technique's title in an effort to rile herself up for its execution. She'd been doing good so far, as he had expected.

For a moment they'd sit in silence, staring at the air around them and waiting for her chakra to do its thing. But gradually, the atmosphere surrounding them would thicken like pea soup. It was still lacking a bit, in terms of worsening the visibility factor, but it was definitely an upswing from her previous attempt. He could see Yuki was pleased with it as well, for a small but powerful smile was widening across her round face. Oh, the joy one felt when making progress. Atlas was quite aware of that sensation, and was happy to see Yuki was enjoying it as well. She then asked after his thoughts on her headway with the technique, and explained the differences she'd noticed between this attempt and the previous.

"I think you've made some good progress, little one! You've followed my suggestions near perfectly. There are still a few things I feel I can help with, however. For one, expanding on the range of your fog. Then, when you've covered that, moving on to making the fog thicker." Tightening the dragon seal, Atlas would enhance Yuki's practice fog, until the entire 10 meter radius around them was flooded with thick white mist. Atlas chuckled as the moisture from the fog touched his skin, as it made him feel like he was in the middle of a cold, puffy cloud. He would let the fog linger for a bit, to give Yuki a chance to try and see him- despite how close they were sitting from each other. Then, abruptly, he would use the chakra he'd added into Yukiko's mist to dispel the technique, and clear the training ground once more.

"Fresh slate! Let's try again, hm? Hand seals first." Starting in rhythm with Yuki, he'd reissue the hand seals and stop at the dragon seal once more- simply to keep in tune with Yuki's training and stand by her as she practiced the jutsu. "Now... try closing your eyes." He'd start, promptly closing his afterwards. "You shouldn't judge when your mist is ready simply on visual factors. A Kumogakuran ninja should be able to tell when their mist is ready mentally. Use all of your senses as you gather your chakra and release it once more. Feel the moisture in the air. Smell that fresh, rainy smell. Hear the winds slowly cease to blow as the mist creeps in with your chakra. When you truly and honestly feel that the mist surrounding you is at its peak... then you can open your eyes and see for yourself." A moment would be spent in silence. Atlas was hoping she understood, but was confident in the fact that if she didn't, she would pave her own path to mastering this technique anyway.

"By closing your eyes," He would continue, speaking as if he had transcended into some form of meditative state. "You can better connect with the mist, with each and every water molecule within it. You won't be doing this everytime- closing your eyes, I mean- but for now, it is going to help you enhance your abilities and really understand what you're trying to create. Gather your chakra a bit more. Think cool and water-like thoughts. Focus on the molecules already in the air. Use the natural atmosphere to your advantage. Integrate your own water-based chakra into this atmosphere, then you'll see that the atmosphere will expand your mist by those last few meters you require. You'll get it soon, Yuki. I'm sure of it."

It took a minute or two before the air around them had cleared up completely. "Fresh slate! Let's try again, hm? Hand seals first." said Atlas as he repeated them all over again. The female followed his rhytm but felt out a couple times.
"Now... try closing your eyes." said the male and closed his green eyes after he had said this.

Yukiko's eyes closed just a couple seconds later. "You shouldn't judge when your mist is ready simply on visual factors. A Kumogakure ninja should be able to tell when their mist is ready mentally. Use all of your senses as you gather your chakra and release it once more. Feel the moisture in the air. Smell that fresh, rainy smell. Hear the winds slowly cease to blow as the mist creeps in with your chakra. When you truly and honestly feel that the mist surrounding you is at its peak... then you can open your eyes and see for yourself." said the brunette.

Silence filled the air while the girl tried to digest everything that he had told her. She was not stupid, but it was hard for her to 'feel' stuff since she was a bit dependant on her eyes. 'Perhaps I can think about the coldness first since I'm using so much hyouton jutsus' thought the Genin.
She decided to go for that and tried to concentrate on the temperature. It was easy since it was no wind that day.

"By closing your eyes, you can better connect with the mist, with each and every water molecule within it. You won't be doing this everytime- closing your eyes, I mean- but for now, it is going to help you enhance your abilities and really understand what you're trying to create. Gather your chakra a bit more.
Think cool and water-like thoughts. Focus on the molecules already in the air. Use the natural atmosphere to your advantage. Integrate your own water-based chakra into this atmosphere, then you'll see that the atmosphere will expand your mist by those last few meters you require. You'll get it soon, Yuki. I'm sure of it." said the young man with a somewhat bored voice.

"I don't know what a molecule is but I'll try" muttered the female. She closed her eyes a little tighter while the chakra started to stir inside her one more time. Her mental image was now on the mist she created when she breathed in the winter.
The chakra started to cool her insides slightly, but not too much. Really cold chakra was not unusual for Yukina jutsus though.

Her mental image about frost mist went through her head; it faltered sometimes though. Both hands went through the handseals somewhat slower since she could not see her hands. It took a lot of willpower to not open her eyes.
'DRAGON SEAL!' thought the the brunette as her hand formed the last handseal. Or at least she hoped her hands had made the correct handseal.

'I can feel the chakra go. But I'm not sure how the mist looks like now' thought the girl as she tried to expand her chakra a little bit. She knew how far it went last time, so it was not half bad.
Her skin got some small goosebumps...the temperature had dropped a bit now. She opened her eyes and saw nothing but mist.

"Geronimo!" Atlas would laugh, gazing upon the mist that surrounded him in all directions. "I knew you could do it, Yuki! Splendid job."

Stretching his back with a satisfied smile as he sat, Atlas would watch as the mist gradually began to disappear. She'd hit the proverbial nail on the head, and executed the technique quite well.
