description; During the war Kumogakure no Sato planted mines around various areas amongst the village so the enemies would be welcomed with a satisfactory treat. With those desolated times over it’s time we clear those mines before they backfire upon us. There are several areas with mines laying dormant waiting to be triggered. Remove them without triggering them, be cautious!

Hirihi wandered along the streets with her instructions still held firmly in her hand. She was to report to someone among the community in the northeastern sector of the Residential District to begin her search. The search had been organized so that the mines would be cleared effectively without the risk of life to citizens. Nice to consider the lives of the citizens, but this made her feel a foreboding sense of fear about the mission. Not willing to back down now, Hirihi stood in the middle of the district and scanned around for someone who looked important enough to talk to.

As she looked among the groups of people, she felt someone tap on her shoulder. Nearly jumping out of her skin, Hirihi turned to face who it was and was surprised to see a lazy looking chuunin standing in front of her. Not really lazy looking, but it appeared as if he had just been asleep. "I take it you are my recruit for the mine clearing this week?" He asked, not bothering to give a name. Giving him the respect he deserved, she nodded and spoke politely to him. "Rinji Hirihi reporting in." She said, the man nodding and shrugging his shoulders as he looked around. "No need to be formal with me. Glad you have some respect, though." He said, leading her around a corner to where they were to work first.

"I'm going to show you what we are doing here. This doesn't count as a technique that you can use in a fight, but it will be helpful to us if you would learn it quickly and use it to your advantage today. You're training to be a medic, right?" He asked, curious as he leaned against a wall of the alleyway. Hirihi nodded to answer his question. "Good. You should have perfect chakra control for what we need. The mines are special, in that, they are pressure activated. Just like any mine, you step on it and it knocks out the mechanism holding the explosive from activating. Once you step off of the mine, the mechanism released the explosive components, sending shrapnel and fire in all directions for about a 20 meter radius." This... was unsettling to hear.

"Now, I see you are still standing there, so I take it you are either to honorable to leave, too scared to move, or you place that much trust in me. Whatever the case be, glad you are still around... Minus the fear thing." He said, walking her up to a sectioned off area of the alley and pointing to a red X that had been painted on the ground. "This is one of the mines that our scouts have located. It's not too deep, but I want you to watch me closely as I remove the mine from the ground. You'll have to repeat this process, but it will be under my supervision. If that makes you feel any better, great." Such a pessimist. Hirihi was beginning to like this chuunin more than her own squad leader...

Watching as the chuunin approached the red X on the ground, she watched both his hands and his feet as he seemed to be coating both in a thick layer of chakra that was cushioning his steps has he came closer. "The chakra under my feet will prevent me from actually setting off the mine, and the chakra in my hands will help me to pull the mine up out of the ground without any kind of issues. Watch carefully, though, as sometimes the mines can be a little sensitive to the first touch from a chakra coated hand." He said, Hirihi watching closely as he began to place his hands over the sides of the X.

Within a span of two minutes, his hands had securely been placed on the sides of the mine. Pulling it out of the ground, he showered her the big chunk of metal coated in multiple explosive tags. "This was the method of saving our village back then. Well, not saving, but preventing intruders from making off without some casualties." He said, taking that moment to set the mine on a nearby crate. "Don't worry about removing the tags or deactivating it. I'll do that part. I just need you to go to all the spots that we have marked with X's throughout the area and begin to remove them."

Hirihi nodded and walked further up the alley to where she would find another red X on the ground. Holding her breath, she formed the necessary barrier of chakra around her feet and hands as she approached and stood on the very outside of the X. Realizing that she had something at her disposal that would make the task less dangerous for her, she formed handseals and began to use her medical x-ray vision to scan the ground ang get a good indication on what the mine looked like. This one looked just like the one before it had. Seeing the little trip wires on the edges, she noted their locations and began to dig her fingers into the ground with the coated chakra shielding her hands and helping her to dig.

With the mine uncovered, she lifted it out after carefully removing it from the tripwires. With the mine in hand, she slowly carried it back to the chuunin and placed it on the now empty crate top. "One mine..." She said, setting it down and seeing a bit of surprise in his eyes. "I guess you medical shinobi aren't something to take lightly. No one has actually removed one that easily without some kind of accident... Accidents that can only be fixed through, well, you know what you have to do." He said, giving a grim look to her as he turned his attention to the mine and began to disarm it.

With two mines already deactivated within the first ten minutes of them meeting, Hirihi found that this was getting to be a rather easy mission. It was simple to do with someone who could explain what she needed to do to her in a way that wasn't overly complicated. He was nice enough, at least, to take care of disarming them for her. So, the two set out as a pair and began to work on this particular section of the residential district. Because they were working with the explosives, the civilians had been asked to temporarily leave while the removal process took place.

Coming up to one mine after the next, Hirihi would repeat the same process. Approach with chakra softened footsteps, use her x-ray vision to scan what was beneath the ground, and dig up the mines with her hands. He would immediately remove the mine from her hand and begin to disarm it and put the materials into a bag on his back. She could only assume the village either planned to reuse the mines, or sell them later down the road. Each hole that she dug was small and minimal, knowing that she'd have to cover it right back up when she was finished.

The process of doing the area wasn't very long, as soon they were done with all the ones that they had in that particular area. Sitting down to take a quick break, the chuunin letting her rest as he turned and handed the bag to a nearby AnBu who would vanish from sight. Upon vanishing, Hirihi watched the Chuunin return to talk to her. "You know, you are a remarkable shinobi. I am surprised that you are still a genin. With the kind of skill and control you have, you shouldn't have any problem getting through the Chuunin Exams. I went through them, and they let me pass. You'd be good from it." He said, Hirihi nodding and smiling a tthe compliment.

"Thank you, I've heard that a lot. My father would like to keep me from this lifestyle, but I know that it's an inevitable thing. I'm drawn to the nature of being a medic. One of the biggest differences between me and other genin comes from a majority of my training in the academy was spent in the hospital. Not being treated, of course, but for treating others." She said, the chuunin raising a brow and grinning. "So, how old are you, anyways? 14, 15?" His question wasn't without merit, because she wasn't aged properly for her body. She looked younger than she actually was. "I'm actually 19. Family curse." She said, him raising a brow and nodding. Without going into specifics, not feeling comfortable enough to do that yet, the two set off to continue their work in other parts of the village, the two of them ahead of schedule.

Hirihi and the still unnamed Chuunin set out to the area outside of the alley. With the area now cleared, the citizens were once again allowed to return. Many had been forced out of their homes to make sure that any accidents would only reflect shinobi casualties. Kind of a cruel way to think about how a shinobi was more disposable than a normal person, but it couldn't be helped. She knew that her responsibility was to do as the Kage said, and it had worked for her so far. As they walked to the new area that the two were clearing, one of the nearby parks that was still in heavy use by the population, Hirihi waited for the Chuunin to give some kind of instruction.

"Well, from here, we do the same as we did in that network of alleys." He said, Hirihi nodding and setting to work. There were preset spots that had already been marked by the previous shinobi that had been there. She assumed there were two squads to the mine clearing process. One squad would enter and locate all of them, and then a second squad would sweep through and remove them. It was a bit of a strange procedure, but she wasn't going to argue with the idea. It would seem faster if the squad that found them took the extra minute to remove them. Yet another thing she wasn't in charge of, though. It just seemed to dump the responsibility and risk on those more apt to take the chance.

Splitting up, Hirihi and the chuunin would begin to work in different paths. Hirihi would follow the same procedure with each mine as she had before. She was tempted to risk trying to remove the tags, but she wasn't going to risk her life for something that was beyond her pay at this point. That was the Chuunin's job, not hers. With each mine she removed, a total of what looked to be twenty mines in the area, she would spend about thirty minutes just working on the few that she found. It was getting harder and harder, and the mines seemed to get more complex as she worked through them. Some had trips mines, and some of them actually seemed to be wired to explode if someone should use their very same method that she had been taught.

On one particular instance, she had been about to step near the mine when the chuunin had lunged forward and pushed her back. "This one is not that same as the rest. This one I am going to remove." He said, Hirihi dusting off her shirt as she stood up and watched him. The pink haired medic was not particularly certain how he had known that this mine was different, but when she had seen the procedure for removing it, she realized that she likely would have blown off a limb. Walking near the mine on his bare feet, removing his shoes, he walked near the mine and bent forward. Using what looked like a chakra blade, he stabbed a wire that was beneath the ground a few inches and proceeded to do the same with a few others around it.

Hirihi continued to watch curiously as he cut through four different trip wires in a swift movement that she could barely follow. Her red eyes watched him carefully as he worked meticulously. He would be speaking an explanation as he worked on it so that she would be able to do this on her own next time. "Walking on your bare feet, use your chakra beneath your feet to sense where the trip wires are. Doing this can set them off if you step too heavily. Project your chakra down and use it just like sonar for anything that looks bigger than a typical tree root and hollow." He said, his hands forming thick chakra gloves as they had before.

"Once you have the trip wires cut, use the same chakra coat to lift out the mine. Instead of taking it to me to disarm, you will have to do these. The reason why is because they have special tags that are sensitive to sunlight. If the sun touches them too long, the explosive tags will ignite and you will be shot full of shrapnel and fire." He said, Hirihi now understanding furthermore why people would avoid such a mission as this. It was almost like suicide. One never knew what kind of mine they were going to find in this village. To think that this kind of hardware was still underground was a little bit unsettling. She'd have to scan her entire back yard now to make sure herself or her father didn't step on any.

"Place your hand against the explosive tag and use your chakra to cut the ends of the chakra attached to it. You're a sensor, so it should come natural for seeing chakra, I assume?" He asked, Hirihi nodded. Was it common knowledge of what she had learned before? It would make sense if the kage was keeping tabs on them and making sure they were progressing. Especially those that the kage might have found worth keeping track of. "Once you have severed all of the chakra points on the tag, remove it and the mine is now completely deactivated." He said, removing the last of the tags and setting the tags in a stack and the mine on another pile.

"You never did tell me your name." She said, realizing that the entire time she had just been thinking of him as a superior without a name. It was fine if that was how he had wanted to leave it, but she was beginning to find that she liked this man. He was intelligent, caring, and a great teacher. He seemed to be well-informed on what he was working with, and he didn't flaunt his arrogance as some people in the village did. Her thoughts wandered to Drago, but she kept her mouth shut. It wasn't appropriate to badmouth the man who was her team leader. It was just irritating...

[Hirihi]

"My name is Johlin. Kisoku Johlin." He said, turning to her and flashing a rather charming smile. She returned a smile of her own and nodded to him. "It's nice to have a name to the person that I'm talking to. Besides, maybe there is more you can teach me in your spare time?" She asked, curious as she watched him pack away the mine that he had helped her to deactivate and uncover. "I know a few things, but we'll figure that out later. Right now, we have more mines to clear." He said, flickering away and leaving her alone with the mine and tags still in the neat little pile. Sighing, she walked away and looked for the next red x that she was to deactivate.

The next mine that she found would be the one that he had just shown her before. Remembering the procedures that he had taught her to remove these pesky mines, she quickly removed her footwear and began to almost mimic what he had done before. When she found the first of the trip wires, she was quick to stab her chakra scalpel through it and look for the corresponding trip wires. With only three wires to cut, she began to scoop out the mine and was quick to remove the tags. This particular part was something she wasn't used to, so it took a bit longer to do. as she removed the last of the tags, Johlin would approach and take the mine from her hand along with the small stack of papers.

"Good. We have one more to do, and then you are free to go. You have been a big help today." He said, Hirihi giving an embarrassed blush at the compliment. She wasn't used to the compliments she was getting from him. Working together on the final mine, this one being double the problem as the last one, the two worked together to cut the trip wires. Quickly pulling the mine free of the earth, Hirihi's eyes went wide as she realized why he had asked her to help him remove it. There were enough explosive tags to blow up at least a thirty meter radius. "Start on that side of the mine and work your way to the middle. We have thirty seconds to do this in." He said. Hirihi held up her end of the mine and began to remove the tags as fast as she could.

She didn't have the same speed as Johlin did, but she found that she was working through it at a remarkably fast pace. It wasn't something she was forced to see often, but she was a rather good shinobi at just about any task she had been set to. Once the task had been done, a total of twenty explosive tags removed from the larger mine, she set the mine down and looked at him with a bit of an exhausted expression. "We're done. No injuries, and even if there were, a capable medic would've been able ot contain the situation." He said, Hirihi blushing again at the compliment. "If you ever want to find me, I usually linger around the residential area. Maybe I have a few things, advanced things, I could teach you." He said, Hirihi nodding and helping him to gather up the explosives and hand them to the AnBU. Once done, she vanished out of sight, Johlin jotting down some notes in a notebook.[/blockquote]
