The Undertaking of Enlightenment [M]

Dull browns, grays, and white comprised interior structure. It was old and perhaps one fo the buildings that should have been torn down during the war. It endured however and remained the center network for much of kumgakures collective knowledge from far and wide with the exception village secrets that remained hidden with the Raikage. A thick aroma of musty old books and scrolls permeated throughout the library and the librarians who worked inside left smelling the same pungent, bitter odor. It was here Ip first encountered the head librarian and with her the plight her and her assistants had to weather.

Just as the attendant at the mission complex had described. There had been an influx of books and scrolls scattered around and stacked here and yon. Though having made great journies to be within the kumogakure library, most seemed relatively new and did not smell of age, mold, and lesser compounds. In those areas the atmosphere was more bearable Ip learned as he indulged in ancient liturgies, technical manuels, and stories he had never seen before. Each new text revealed more information but only what little the young shinobi could speed through as he placed them upon shelves.

Not once was a new technique revealed, but theorems and ideas were scattered throughout and shed light on certain things. Though no jutsu could be gained, it was obvious that thought had been put forth into revolutionary study on the matter. What little could be found pleased Ip, especially a theory that revolved around molding multiple elements together to create an entirely new technique. Not quite any of the estabished types, but not quite seperately used elements either. It got the gears of the mind turning and gave birth to a powerful but deadly attack Ip would have to test out for himself.

On the Path to Enlightenment all knowledge was absolute. To be enlightened one had to know of many aspects. The world, the self, the mind, the universe all formed individual aspects that needed to be known to progress along the path. Helping at the library gave Ip insight and allowed him to both understand himself as well as worldly information. Likewise, it gave him time with himself to contemplate enlightenment and what it meant to him as a warrior and ninja. When he left the library he left it with a thoughtful smile.

These books and scroll's have come from the far corners of the known world, offering villagers information to a new range things. But, it seems that there are far too many items for the old, library ladies to sort through and organise onto the shelves. Your mission is to help the lovely librarians in sorting the new material and putting them onto the shelves. This excerise is a great way to improve teamwork.

Coincidentally the second mission on the list had placed Ip in a favorable position. The client who had requested a shinobi to deliver a recently deceased family member's weapon was near by. This only meant that Ip would be able to pick up the object in a timely fashion. Delivery to that person's spouse would take time. They were located on the far edge of the village. Because of kumogakures constant construction work and rebuilding, certain routes were out oft he question not consider roof hopping which Ip found detestable and disrespectful. The laxness in the morals of his fellow man was disheratening.

"This is a special item my son used during the war. Please deliver it with care!" The old woman went into detail about the personal grudges of her sons enemies, however insignificant they were. Mostly local thugs that he had roughed up during a mission to patrol the streets before he was stationed further into the country on defense. The sword, which had bee carefully swapped and cased, was the only thing that returned from the edges of Kaminari no Kuni. It was explained that should they take notice they would try to cause trouble even with a skilled shinobi if it meant slighting the family's honor.


Ip thanked her for the information and promised to deliver the object without fail. She would no doubt hear from her daughter in law in time. Ip left the home with a hop in his step and sped down the byways of Kumogakure. With grace and agility he manuevered throughout the village and avoided most conflict with the citizens and they worked or walked in the streets and alleys. It wasn't until he finally reached the point of drop off that he was confronted by several large, barrel chested men.

Smugness was the facade they gave, attempting to intimidate the lone shinobi with an odd assortment of weaponry some tapped across their shoulders of in their hands. "What'cha got there, buddy?" One finally asked during the stare down. "Looks like something that bastard would have had, boss. Hehee.." They wreaked of sake and old meat and their clothing was frayed at the edges. Simple old thugs Ip thought.

"I am Ip Trang, sent and ordered by the Raikage to deliver this. If you do no move I will remove you from my sight! Be gone pests and seek enlightenment." That statement was all it took to push the ignorant into a frenzy of curses and threats. "Get 'em boys!" The leader shouted and stepped back into the ground and several charged forward. Their weapons never made it mid-swing before Ip flew into the air and left a volley of kicks to persaude them on a different course. The fallen crawled and stumbled away while the remainder were urged on by their leader. Fear gave birth to idiocy and idiocy got them hurt and thrown out of Ips out.

The leader was the only one who showed signs of some competence, but seemed to only be an academy drop out. After a few cheap tricks and several failed sword swings, Ip felled him with a hasty punch to the abdominals and continued to the front door of the house where he delivered the package without fail as he had promised. He left as soon as he had come, watching the small time gang run off before he vanished into the streets.

description; It’s no secret Kumogakure no Sato is monumental. The travel from one end to another for a mere citizen takes hours. Because of the prolonged trip in traveling from one point towards another for a citizen. The Kumogakure no Sato inhabitants require the aid of the Kumogakure shinobi to quickly deliver objects with hastened speed. Usually what takes hours for the residents is cut in half for a Kumogakure shinobi. So go out and deliver whatever it is our natives need delivered.

The day had only just begun and two missions were already crossed out on the list. It wasn't unusual for the ninja to complete missions so swiftly. It usually left him with the rest of the day to train. But unlikey usual this day was scheduled differently. Eight more missions still stood before him. It didn't bother him though, for it was fated that he would be relied on as a potential genius. His skills would become invaluable throughout Kumogakures future and the chuunin exams that were just on the horizon.

Perhaps the most anticipated event of all was the chuunin exams. Every time the thought of being able to let loose and test his limits entered his mind, he was invigorated. These missions did very little to put him on the edge where he believed he would be most comfortable. The path of the warrior was a path of growth. Growth brought him closer to enlightenment. Enlightenment would mean a man who had perfected himself both mind, body, and soul on the mortal plane.

Ip brushed the thoughts out of his mind as he stopped to check his list. "Pet Detective," as it was affectionately named by the agency was the next task to complete. Many animals had been lost during that time of confict and could be seen wandering the village streets at night and sometimes during the day through the bustle of village life. No one ever really paid them any mind because there had always been animals there before. It wasn't uncommon for pets to freely wander around. in recent times however, the amount of animals that had entered the streets caught the interest of the animal collection agencies.

It would be too much of a hassle to actually pick up every animal and bring them into the agency. There were many shinobi out on this specific mission and had only been given to him to hasten the effort. It could become hazardous to construction and citizens alike to have such a clutter of animals running around aimlessly and unattended. So Ip's brisk pace was only slightly slowed before he found one such animal and traversed Kumo to the agency where it dropped it off and skipped out to pursue his next task: Returning to the mission compound.
