''Yeeaaargh, that's the sort of weather I'm after."

I stretched lazily as I shook off the tenseness from my prior encounter, that odd, drunken boy taking his tole on me. But as I thought back, far beyond our minor encounter, I drew a couple comparisons from my mind. He was young, directionless and heartbroken, much like me. But he didn't want to do anything about it, seemingly, and the thought of a young man being so easily tainted by booze was nearly enough to stop me drinking entirely. Nearly.

''Uhn.. I could have sworn I saw the gate from that tree?"

I mumbled incoherently, my fingers itching my dirty scalp. It was true that I could see the gate from that encounter with the boy, but the foliage and winding path made it difficult to traverse, and the few shreds of masculine pride I had left forbade me from asking for specific directions. Idiot. But at least, in passing, he gave me a small tidbit of information to guide me, as well as a brief warning that the Kusakage was a woman.

''So the Kusagakure is a she, eh.. hopefully she has maternal instincts or feelings."

It was truly fearsome, approaching a heavily fortified village like this. And knowing that the Kusakage was a woman did my confidence more harm than good, due to how detached and independent they had to be. Living in a society where combat and power took the reigns, being a frail, smaller version of a man wouldn't bode well for their safety. Even.. children are subjugated to this, in a matter of speaking. Lonely, power hungry men will take what they can get, but not my students, no, I would assure they would be safe.

But as I wandered down that road, I felt a peculiar sense of awe overtake my body, the sight of big, blurry gates in the distance eliciting a gasp. This was the first time I had visited this beautiful land, or at least, this stretch of it. But as my trip began to near it's end, I felt a pang of guilt hollow out a portion of my stomach; Amatsubu would have loved this place.

''Geh.. you were all about flowers and nature, weren't cha, kid?"

I laughed beneath my breath, the bags beneath my eyes acting merely as bumps for my tears to pass over. But I had something I had to do, my sweet. I had a mission to undertake, so you and your mother would just have to wait a little while longer for me to visit you. ''Fuck." Frustrated, I wiped the years from my face and began to walk even faster towards the large blur of the gate, my head shaking to try and disperse the horrible images that popped into my head.

''I'll.. I'll bring you back some flowers, alright?"

Was the last thing I said before I approached the large structure, thankful that my encounter with the man from earlier had left me in such an advantageous position. I had the 'good word' of a Chuunin; something I had heard was a high ranking amongst their society, while also having a fairly easy trek to the gates. Hopefully my string of good luck would continue.
