The stars had welcomed the moon as it awakened from its slumber, its radiance only enough to illuminate a portion of his location. Nemuru had transverse to Kusa no Kuni. His first encounter, with a man named Reishuuyou, had not gone well. This man had been far from ordinary, but that served its purpose of arousing his interest. From what he gathered, they had to be dead. If there were a technique that could bring people back to life, he would need to acquire it.
While trailing down the road, Nemuru had approached a wooden bridge, five meters all around, tinted red like the rocks below that remained stationary in the shallow river. Many fireflies hovered airborne, radiating light to congregate with their mate. Even the smallest creatures had feelings, but that was something he never got to experience. Regardless, those days are over of depression were over. He had bigger and better things to accomplish.
Squinting his eyes, as he stepped upon the bridge preparing to cross it, he could see somebody from twenty-five meters away. Their features were difficult to distinguish with them being so far, but as he converged, analyzing the man had become effortless. It would not be hard for the man to spot him, especially with the vibrant colors decorating his kimono. There had been a tanto tucked against the left side of his body by an obi sash worn around his waist.
Being that the two would eventually cross paths, Nemuru wanted to give his best first impression. A simply mistake can ruin a potential friendship. He wanted to expand his knowledge, and there had been no better way to do that than getting to know people. Taking gradually steps across the face of bridge, his movement halted upon reaching its belly. He observed his area, seeing if any others were around. Confirming that they were alone, he waved, waiting for the man to meet him.
“Aye,”
he said, smirking.
“Sup?”
